"Christmas Cards"
For twenty minutes so far, Nick and Judy stood together at Hallbark Card Shoppe, looking for the perfect commercially printed Christmas greeting to send to their list of family and friends.
"I like this one," Nick said as he handed Judy a loose card from the rack. From the shelf below, he picked up a box of three dozen of them.
Judy couldn't help but chuckle at the cartoony illustration of a group of police officers having a snowball fight above the caption "Police Navidad." "The pun is, well, punny," she said as she handed the card back to Nick, "but I'm not sure this is the best choice to send to everyone as a couple."
Nick was disappointed, but he loved his bunny. He put the box back on the shelf but held on to the single card. "Can we at least get this one card for my parents? My mom would probably roll her eyes a little, but my dad would find it hilarious."
"All right. Get one," Judy said.
Nick pulled one more of the same card off the rack. "Gonna get one for myself too."
Judy chuckled again. She loved her fox too.
"How about this one?" Judy asked after a moment. She handed Nick a card with a photo of Tundratown's official district Christmas tree, its lights and star accented with colorful glitter, with falling snow similarly shimmering with clear sparkles and occasional hints of silver.
"No way!" the fox declared as he quickly shoved it back on the rack, so quickly that he put it in the wrong space. He looked at his paw and started shaking it. "Ugh!"
The bunny cocked her head. "What's wrong with that card?"
"It's a glitter card."
"So? It's very pretty."
"Glitter is only pretty when observed a mile away through a telescope. Any closer and it gets absolutely everywhere."
"We could wear gloves," Judy suggested as she started blowing on her own paw.
"Carrots, I don't think there's anyone we hate enough to subject to the cruel and unusual punishment that is a glitter card." The fox paused for a moment. He chuckled as a hustler's grin came to his muzzle. "Except maybe Bellwether."
Using only the tips of his claws, he picked up the card again.
