(16)-Phone Chat.

"And here i am now back in my suite, talking to you." Said a shirtless Kyle on his phone with his Mom while lying on his back on the second bed in his suite, having just told her of the situation with Cobey from the Dairy Queen to here at the Savanah Suites hotel. After returning to his suite, the 18-year old put the rest of Cobey's ice-cream birthday cake back in the freezer, then he drunk the rest of his soda and tossed the empty cup in the trash along with the two plastic spoons. He'd also placed Cobey's drink in the fridge and had placed the spoon Megan had used to eat her piece of ice-cream cake in the sink along with the three plates they had used. He held his phone in his right hand.

"Wow. That's some story. So you just called the cops on the lady and got her arrested?" Phyllis said.

"That's right." Kyle said.

"And the waitress called CPS on her too?" Phyllis said.

"Right again." Kyle said.

"Good. Good thinking, Kyle. You did a good thing...and the right thing. And so did that waitress." Phyllis said.

"Then why do i feel so bad all of a sudden?" Kyle said.

"I don't know. Why do you feel so bad?" Phyllis said.

"I don't know, maybe it's because of what i learned about Cobey. I mean, it's bad enough he lost both of his parents, but...now that his adoptive mother is in jail, i don't know what's gonna happen to him. And...i can't help but feel like he's lost another parent. But i know it's for the best." Kyle explained. He knew he did the right thing by calling the cops on Heather, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel bad about the situation. Cobey had already lost his parents, he didn't want him to lose his adoptive mother too. But he knew the boy would be safe and better off because of it.

"Yeah, it is. I mean, it's sad not knowing what'll happen to him now that his adoptive mother is locked up, but better that than still being with that crazy woman. Just remember that anytime you start to feel bad about Cobey's unknown situation." Phyllis said.

"Thanks, i will." Kyle said. "Well, i think i'm gonna text Charlie and then turn in for the night."

"Okay, i'll leave you to it." Phyllis said.

"I'll text you tomorrow and let you know when i'm leaving for the next city or town." Kyle said.

"I'll be here. Good night." Phyllis said.

"Good night, Mom." Kyle said before he hung up. He then typed up a text that read

"Hi, Charlie, it's me. I'm in Arvada-Colorado, staying at a hotel with some new friends i've met. I'll be leaving for the next city or town tomorrow. Good night...Kyle.

He then sent the text to Charlotte's phone. A minute later, a text came from Charlotte that read

OK, good night.

Kyle then placed his phone on the night-stand on the right side of the bed next to his fingerless gloves, then he got up off the bed to turn off the lights for the night.
