Hello my dearest readers! We're back and we're finally beginning the tournament arc of the story. Are you excited? I sure am! So much to do and so many ideas are running through my head that I'm afraid my fingers are going to get the keyboard version of rugburn from all my excited typing.

Anywho, before we begin, a few things, I'd like to say. Firstly, lje100smith requested that I name the chapters to make navigating them, which I have begun to do, however, the names are certainly not cast in stone and at this point not all of them are named yet. As such if you guys have suggestions I'm more than happy to hear them.

Secondly, for those questioning how this story connects to the light novels, as stated in the first chapter, this takes place after the main series light novel volume eleven. It does contain some elements from the Sword Oratorio novels, but only some basic things that I've picked up. I need to catch up with both light novels series and that's now a personal project of mine. However, with regards to the ~Memoria Freese~ game, I haven't played in a while so I can't really say that it will be a huge influence here. I might make a few mentions here and there, like a name drop, but I can't promise anything. However, if something piques my interest I may very well add it. All in all, you can effectively assume that everything after main series volume eleven is my own canon and follows my story while trying to make some connections to other or later events from the other Danmachi sources.

Alright, that's enough of that, it's time to jump in.

I do not own Danmachi

The two men made their way out of the Dungeon, exhausted, but smiling.

"That was pretty intense," Bell said.

"I would certainly hope so. I had to make sure you were ready for the tournament," Achilles said, smiling at the young man.

"I hope we didn't miss too much while we were gone."

"Well, we'll find out soon enough, once we deposit these stones and head back," Achilles replied, holding up his Infinite Purse.

The two were prepared to head towards the Guild when the familiar sight of the Divine Mirror began popping up all over the sky.

"Hello people of Orario! I am your announcer for this great event, Ibri Achaa, the Fire Inferno Flame! Please stop whatever you're doing and listen as I'm here to tell you the rules for the tournament that is now only two days away!"

All over Orario, people stopped what they were doing and turned towards the mirrors as the announcement played before them.

"Is everyone listening? Good! Now, please pay attention as things might get a little complicated." Everyone gave him their full attention. "So, to begin with, this tournament will be point-based, meaning the more points you have, the better you will rank. You get points from fights. Ten points are awarded to the winner of a fight and two points are given to the loser. However, there's a bit more to it than that. You see, there are two kinds of points. Familia points and personal points. What's the difference? Quite simple. Familia parts are the sum total of all points collected by members of a familia while personal points are awarded only to an individual fighter. This way even the smaller familias have a chance at a greater reward should one of their fighters do well" All over the city, people nodded in understanding. "And what a collection of rewards we have! The familia that takes home first place will receive a reward of one hundred million valis while the one who received the most personal points will walk away with twenty million valis!" People began to salivate at that sum. "Not only that, but for every point you gain, you will be rewarded with one thousand valis. So, even if you lose, that's two thousand valis in your pocket!"

"Quite the collection of prizes," Achilles said.

"They're being quite generous," Bell agreed.

"Likely they want to encourage as many fights as possible so decided to offer rewards more freely," the ex-captain explained, getting a nod from his son.

"And speaking of points, there's one other way to win points!" Ibri continued. Thousands of heads leaned in. "You see, there will be a panel of ten judges. These judges will be watching your fights and will reward you with extra points if they think you fought well. So, even if you lose, you might walk away with more points than the winner purely because the judges were impressed with your skill and determination, so there's really no reason for you not to fight and give your best!"

Quite a few people all of the city cheered, eager to cash in on the generous rewards offered by the tournament.

"The next thing you should all know is this," Ibri continued, after giving enough time for people to calm down. "This tournament is entirely challenge based. Meaning, the only way for a fight to take place is for you challenge other adventurers. The challenges will then be issued publicly so that the challenged adventurer will hear you and will be given the chance to either accept or decline. Also, please note that if the adventurer is a part of your familia, no familia points will be awarded, however personal points still will be."

Bell turned back to Achilles.

"That seems a bit unfair. If the person doesn't want to accept they'll feel pressured because the challenge was made public," he said.

Achilles nodded.

"That was likely intentional," the elder said. "The gods want to ensure they're properly entertained and so probably felt it was alright to put pressure on those who might not have wanted to accept a particular challenge in order to compel them into a fight."

Bell frowned.

"I'm so glad that Hestia is my goddess," he stated firmly.

Achilles smiled.

"She is certainly one of, if not the best," he added.

"Better than Zeus?" Bell asked, giving his father a smile.

Achilles chuckled.

"You know your perverted grandpa well enough to answer that."

"Now, onto the final point," Ibri pressed, ready to complete the explanation. "In order to make this fair, you will only be able to challenge someone within one level of yourself. Meaning, for example, if you're a level three, you can only challenge a level two or a level four. Also, the one who has the lower level will automatically be awarded an additional point given their disadvantage."

While some were disappointed by this, they all understood. Having a level four or five challenge a level one or two wouldn't be much of a fight and certainly not provide proper entertainment for the deities of the city.

"Alright, that wraps up our explanation. Good luck everyone, and do your best. Remember, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain!"

With that, the mirrors disappeared, leaving Bell and Achilles to process what they'd heard.

Achilles turned to Bell.

"You ready?" he asked.

Bell turned to him and smiled.

"Yeah."

Having deposited their magic stones and received a tidy sum, at least if the two chests were any indication, the two made their way back home, eager to see their familia and talk to them about the tournament.

Seeing their home in the distance, they quickened their pace and were soon pushing open the front doors.

"Hestia! We're home!" Bell called.

"Bell-kun!" the goddess cried from another room, with the much quieter voices of the rest of their familia mixed in. A moment later, Hestia appeared, and rushed at her captain, throwing herself at him, forcing him to drop the chest as he caught her in his arms, barely managing not to fall over.

"I missed you!" she declared, her arms wrapped tightly around him.

Surprised though he was, Bell managed to laugh and hug her back.

"I missed you too," he returned, his eyes soon after turning to see the others arrive. "Hi guys," he greeted with his usual smile.

Everyone returned the greeting, though Lili was a bit more focused on pulling the goddess off their shared object of affection.

Welf whistled at seeing the two chests his fellow familia members were carrying.

"Looks like you guys got a decent haul," he said.

"You could say that," Achilles said. "A lot of it's going to Hephaestus though for that special order I put in."

"Did I hear my name?"

Bell and Achilles turned to see Hephaestus and their other ally gods, along with their familia, walking into the hall.

"You did," Achilles confirmed. "This is for you," he said holding up the chest.

"You always were good about making payments," Hephaestus said with a smile.

"Like you would allow me not to be," Achilles threw back, earning him a few chuckles.

"You're right, I wouldn't," she responded.

Achilles chuckled and was prepared to press on when he noticed something about the smith goddess, or should it be said, her and the young redheaded man next to her.

His eyes zoned in on them and noticed a few things. One: they were very close, so close that it almost seemed unnecessary for them to be intertwining fingers. Two: there was this smile they both had that held something that looked keenly like satisfaction, which, combined with the look in their eyes, got his mind moving.

"Congratulations," he said suddenly, startling everyone.

"I'm sorry?" Hephaestus asked, her head cocking to the side in confusion.

Achilles gestured to the two of them.

"As inexperienced as I am, I saw that look enough times to recognize it. The look of a satisfied woman and a young man who's officially entered manhood."

It took not even a second for everyone to understand and for Hephaestus's and Welf's faces to burst into a inferno-like red.

"Oh, sorry, did the others not figure it out?" Achilles asked.

"Oh. My. Goodness!" Hestia cried happily before jumping at Hephaestus and hugging her tightly. "I'm so happy for you two!"

The others took longer to react, but soon enough they were congratulating the two on their relationship, though with more restraint than Hestia so as to try and limit the embarrassment the two were now drowning in.

"Dad," Bell softly chided.

"What? It was obvious. I figured everyone already knew and that we were late to the party," the ex-captain replied, receiving a playful roll of the eyes as a response.

Luckily for the two new lovers, the gate bell rang, pulling everyone's attention away from the thoroughly mortified redheads.

"I'll get it," Achilles offered as he was closest to the door.

Opening the front doors, his smile faltered for a bit as he saw who it was.

"The Loki familia's here," he stated.

None of the non-Hestia familia members failed to note the coolness of his tone and Hephaestus, now pulled from her embarrassment, turned to Hestia who gave her a small smile.

"We just had a little argument. Nothing major," she assured.

The other gods and their familia shared looks, wondering about that as well as what this 'argument' was, but kept silent for the moment.

While the others wondered, Achilles made his way to the gate, making sure to focus on Riveria so he could smile genuinely.

"Hello, everyone," he greeted.

"Hello, Achilles," Riveria returned, smiling back. "I'm glad to see you made it back in one piece."

He laughed lightly.

"Yeah, no swords in the gut this time," he joked. "Anyway, good timing. The other familias are here, probably for the same reason you are."

"We wanted to discuss the tournament a bit," Finn entered the conversation, the tension increasing the moment he did.

"Not sure how much there is to talk about, but come on in. I'm sure that big brain of yours can come up with something to be concerned about."

The Loki familia did not fail to notice both the edge to that, nor the suggestion hidden within it. However, they weren't there to start a fight and so kept quiet, though Finn's thumb did begin to ache.

Making their way inside, Hestia was front and center, giving them a big smile to try and convey that things were alright.

"Welcome," she greeted.

"Hey, Chibi," Loki replied, causing Hestia to roll her eyes.

"Are you ever going to stop using that nickname?"

"Nope," the trickster goddess instantly replied. "Not even if you grow as tall as the big oaf here," she said, gesturing at Achilles.

Hestia chuckled and the tension began to ease a bit as her attempts at lightening the air began to work.

"Well, come in. We were talking about the tournament as you probably expected," the loli goddess stated.

"Good. Just want to make sure we're all on the same page," Loki said as she followed after Hestia, everyone else doing likewise soon after.

Everyone either took a seat or stood off to the side as the conversation restarted.

"The only real question that we could come up with is whether or not we were going to challenge each other," Hestia explained. "We all agreed that there wasn't really a reason that we shouldn't. We're all friends and have been training with each other for months. This would really only be an extension of that, just a bit more competitive and with a reward at the end," she finished, smiling.

Most everyone nodded, including Loki.

"Ain't gonna disagree with that. As long as we don't seriously injure or kill each other, there's no reason we can't have a go at each other," she said.

"The tournament doesn't explicitly say that killing is off limits, probably because that's always possible during a fight, but I think it's heavily suggested that we all try to limit the carnage," Miach said.

"Yeah. This whole thing is about having some fun so that the whole city can stop stressing about all the crazy stuff that keeps happening, and a corpse kind of gets people on edge," Loki agreed.

Everyone nodded this time.

"Alright, so we have a plan...sort of. We can challenge each other, and it'll just be a friendly competition," Hestia concluded.

"Sounds like a plan," Takemikazuchi said.

"Agreed," Miach said.

"Indeed," Hephaestus said.

"Yep!" Loki finished. "And I for one can't wait. I'd love to see one of my kiddies knock this big lug off his pedestal," she joked, pointing at Achilles.

The 'big lug' laughed.

"They're all certainly free to try, but I am a stubborn 'big lug', " Achilles replied with a smile as a few people chuckled. "Anyway, I'm going to get some food. I've barely eaten in two days and I'm starving."

"Just don't eat the whole kitchen," Hestia requested.

"No promises," he replied, getting a few more chuckles.

Finn watched as the Olympian headed for the kitchen. Just as he was about to disappear around the corner, their eyes met and Achilles quickly jerked his head.

The Braver's frown deepened, but he gave a small nod right before Achilles turned the corner.

Finn quickly checked the others and saw that they were all focused on discussing the tournament and catching up, allowing him the chance to sneak away without the need for an explanation.

Going the long way around, Finn entered the kitchen and found Achilles grabbing every manner of food he could get his hands on.

"I see that Unrelenting Endurance still makes you as ravenous as a giant," he said, the joke utterly failing to come across due to his tone.

"Yep. It's a useful skill, but I do become an animal once I finish whatever I'm doing," Achilles replied before he put the first bit of food in his mouth.

"What did you want to talk about?" Finn asked, already knowing the answer.

Achilles swallowed.

"I understand why you did what you did, Finn. Respect it even. You need to protect your familia and the city. I totally understand. You've also been a friend of mine for years. We've had some pretty rough bumps along the way, admittedly, but I'd still like to think of us as friends. Truth be told, if these items weren't so damn important and dangerous I'd share what I knew with you, but I can't. Even if you can't accept that, I hope that we can move past that," he got on one knee to look the prum captain in the eye. "However," his eyes turned dark, his tone changed and he placed a hand on the Loki captain's shoulder. "I warn you. If you ever make Riveria upset like that again," he squeezed hard enough to make Finn flinch. "I will personally ensure you can never make an heir to your glorious pallum revival." He got up and began walking away.

Grabbing his aching shoulder, Finn spun around to the Olympian.

"You love her, don't you?" Finn asked, anger permeating through his voice.

"It's very likely, yes," Achilles answered, turning around. "She's certainly the closest woman I've ever been to. The only one who I might have been closer to was Briseis."

"And Freya," Finn spat out.

Achilles frowned. "No. Not even Freya was ever this close to me. Nor will she ever be."

That was a bit of a surprise to Finn, but he wasn't about to back down.

"I won't let you, Bell Cranel, or these items become a danger to my familia or this city," Finn warned.

"Or your reputation," Achilles threw back.

Finn growled.

"Do you think that's all I care about?"

"Not all, but primarily, or at least more than your familia."

"Don't pretend that you know me Achilles. And don't you dare push me."

"Sometimes I wonder if you even know yourself, Finn, given how far you've delved into this dream of yours. And I'll push you as far as I need to, Finn. Maybe with enough pushing I'll force that stick out of your ass and we can finally stop wondering who you really are. Finn or the Braver," the Olympian responded before exiting the kitchen, leaving behind a bitter Finn and his throbbing thumb.

This isn't over Achilles. Not by a long shot.

"Great! So we'll all meet here tomorrow for the announcements?" Hestia asked to make sure.

Everyone nodded, a bit nervous, but still very excited for the coming tournament.

"What's all this?" Achilles asked, entering the room, plate of food in hand.

"Everyone will come here tomorrow when they announce the challenges," Bell explained.

"Ah," Achilles responded in understanding. "Our home has become quite the popular spot haven't it?"

A few people chuckled and Bell scratched his cheek, smiling.

"I guess it has," he conceded.

"To be fair, it is sort of your fault since you're the one who suggested we all train together," Ryuu pointed out.

"True," Achilles readily replied.

Riveria, who had been off to the side, watched the exchange with a smile, her heart warming as she took it all in.

He's so close to regaining what he's lost and returning to who he was. Just a little more and he'll reclaim himself, her fists tightened as conviction filled her. The moment he does is when I'll tell him. The very second, she vowed to herself.

Feeling eyes on him, Achilles turned and caught her eyes. He smiled almost immediately which caused her own smile to grow. They shared a brief moment before they both turned away, knowing full well that if they kept it up, the others would notice and tease them.

"So," Achille said. "Does anyone have a challenge in mind?"

"Why ruin the surprise?" Loki asked.

"I was just curious. Besides, if it's not a challenge against someone here then I don't see the harm in asking," he replied.

"I've got one in mind," Ouka stated.

Everyone turned to him.

"Who's that, Ouka?" Mikoto asked.

"Some guy from the Horus familia was getting a little too friendly with Chigusa yesterday. Said he'd never met a girl from the East and thought she was 'exotic'. Apparently he also didn't know what the word 'no' meant," he replied, pulling Chigusa to his side, causing the girl to blush terribly, even as she smiled happily.

"My my, it appears Bell and I missed another important event," Achilles said.

Ouka smiled.

"Chigusa confessed to me and I returned her feelings. We're officially courting now," he explained.

Everyone was beaming now, and Bell quickly congratulated the two, both thanking him, even if Chigusa looked ready to explode.

"I'm assuming this Horus guy didn't understand the idea of our dear Chigusa being 'taken'," Achilles added.

Ouka frowned.

"No. Even said that he was sure to," his blood began to truly boil. "Please her more."

Everyone joined Easterling in frowning, except for Achilles who rolled his eyes.

"That is one insult I wish we men would stop using, if only for originality's sake."

That helped lighten the mood as a few people chuckled or smiled.

"You men do love to prove your 'prowess'," Riveria joked.

"To be fair to the gentlemen in the room, when we have so many lovely ladies around us, how could we not want to prove ourselves?" Achilles replied.

Many faces were now blushing, especially among the ladies who soon found themselves the center of attention from their male counterparts who, while a bit embarrassed themselves, didn't exactly feel the need to speak up against his words.

Riveria was amongst the blushing, her red cheeks made worse by Achilles's unwavering eyes.

Gods he's such a tease. I swear Achilles, I don't care how much you complain, I'm taking every ounce of frustration out on you.

However, Riveria was not the only one on the receiving end of burning eyes as right next to the elven adventurer, Aiz currently found her eyes locked on the rubies of a certain snow-haired young man.

Why is he staring at him? Why is he smiling? What...what is that look?

Her mind worked overtime to try and understand what the look Bell was giving her was and why it was making her heart thunder and her face heat up. Her imagination moved this way and that, trying to figure it out and, by some miracle, actually came up with the right answer.

D-Does...Does he care for me too?

No answer was given to her, but for the first time since she had realized her feelings, Aiz wondered if perhaps, just perhaps, the man she loved, loved her back.

The next day came quickly, with everyone feeling a buzz in their veins as they made their way inside.

"Alright, it's time, let's get this party started," Hestia announced, cracking her knuckles while everyone got comfortable.

Using her divine power, Hestia summoned a Divine Mirror which quickly revealed Ibri Achaa looking ready and eager to begin.

"Hello, dear citizens of Orario! The time has finally come for us to announce the first challenges for our grand tournament! We're starting out strong as our very first challenge comes from Allen Fromel, the 'Vana Freya' of Freya familia. He challenges Gareth Landrock, the 'Elgarm' to the very first fight of this tournament!"

The surprised everyone present and many eyes turned to Gareth.

Well, this is an interesting start, Achilles thought.

"Hmph, if Vana Freya wants a fight, I'll be happy to give it to him," Gareth said, seemingly unfazed.

His confident reply eased some of the younger adventurers, though everyone recognized that the fight would be a difficult one, even for someone of Gareth's caliber.

Ibri continued to list the challenges and for the most part they were of little consequence to those present.

Lots of Ganesha familia, which is natural given their size, as well as a few lesser known Loki familia, Achilles looked over at the goddess who seemed content with the challenges thus far. But both are outmatch by the sheer number of Freya challengers. That doesn't sit well with me.

"I didn't know Samira joined the Aphrodite familia," Bell said, looking towards Haruhime.

"It happened quite recently. She was debating for a while which familia she wanted to join. She said she didn't want one that was too weak nor one that was too different from Ishtar. She eventually chose Aphrodite, feeling that another goddess of beauty would be the best fit," the renard explained.

Bell nodded.

"I can understand that. Sometimes it's just preferable to be somewhere familiar."

"As long as Aphrodite doesn't try anything like what Ishtar did or have any 'toads' hidden away," Achilles growled.

The merriment and excitement took a hit for a moment as unpleasant memories returned.

"You all don't need to worry." Everyone shifted to Bell. "I won't ever find myself in that situation again," the young man vowed, his voice hard and his expression resolute. "I won't allow it."

The stern, almost cold tone the young man used was a bit surprising for all present. Bell usually reserved such powerful displays for battles, yet the confidence and determination within his vow was quite something to see and quickly eased them.

"Damn straight," Welf added.

"They'd have to get through me to even try," Ryuu stated.

"That's only if we don't kick their butt first!" Tiona declared, her sister joining her.

A few more words of agreement or encouragement were shared and whatever negative feelings had made an appearance burned away, after which everyone shifted back to the challenges.

Relieved, Bell was about to do the same when he felt a tug on his sleeve and turned and found Haruhime now beside him.

"I will always be there for you, Bell-sama. No matter what. I promise to be by your side to protect you from danger."

It was a simple thing to say, but the honesty and warmth held within it touched him deeply. Perhaps that's why he didn't even think when his hand reached down and grabbed hers.

"Thank you, Haruhime."

A small blush appeared on her cheeks, but she didn't stop smiling for even a moment and simply got just a bit closer to him, hoping that no one noticed.

Luckily for her, the only one who did notice was her possible future father-in-law who simply smiled before turning back to the challenges.

"Next on our list of challenges is Kashima Ouka, the 'Masuratakeo' of Takemikazuchi familia, who challenges Ramses Nile, 'The Scorching Sand' of the Horus familia!"

Everyone got a little bouncy at that announcement and wished the Take captain luck in his battle.

"I can't lose," he said sternly. "Not when I'm doing this for Chigusa."

The young woman blushed, but managed to pull him down to kiss his cheek, making him smile and getting a few 'aahs' from the other ladies.

"Next up, Aisha Belka, the 'Antianeira' of the Hermes familia. She challenges Ryuu Lion the 'Gale' of the Hestia familia!"

"Aisha-san?" Bell said, a bit surprised.

"You two have some sort of history?" Achilles asked Ryuu.

"In a way, yes," Ryuu said, not looking at all displeased by the notion of fighting the amazon.

"Aisha...Aisha...Why does that name sound familiar?" Hestia asked out loud.

"She's the one that Bell-sama was training with in the Red Light district," Haruhime said.

"Haruhime!" Bell cried, not wanting his goddess to remember.

Haruhime, after getting over her surprise, realized what she did and covered her mouth, looking very apologetic.

"Sheesh," Achilles said as he and the others turned to the loli goddess who had gone unnervingly quiet after hearing that.

"Ryuu," Hestia finally called, her voice cold and deadly serious.

"Yes, Hestia-sama?" the Gale replied.

The goddess of the hearth looked the elf dead in the eye.

"This is an order. Kick her butt."

Ryuu smiled.

"With pleasure."

It had finally come. After an entire month of building anticipation, the grand tournament of Orario had finally arrived. Energy pulsed through the entire city and not a single street was left empty as everyone moved about excitedly. Every shop opened early, hoping to cash in on all the business they were sure to get. Every room in every inn and hotel was occupied as guests, visitors, tourists, and eager soon-to-be adventurers flowed into the city, hoping for a taste of the spectacle to come. Perhaps never before had the city ever felt so alive and with that liveliness came an expunging of the fear, worry, and anxiety that had plagued the city for months, except for those placing bets on the fights that is.

The Hestia familia, along with most of their allied familia were currently in the Coliseum, being awarded that privilege since they were one of the familias fighting today.

"Do you think Gareth-san will be alright?" Bell asked Achilles.

"I'm sure he'll be fine. Even if the kitten manages to win, there's no way Gareth would allow himself to be truly taken down by someone like Allen Fromel."

"You got that right!"

The Hestia familia and company turned to find the Loki familia had arrived and Tiona was smiling at them.

"Gareth's gonna kick his butt and make that grumpy cat regret ever issuing the challenge," she said.

"You know him better than I do," Bell said, smiling as his worry began to ease away.

"My sister isn't right about a lot of things, but she is right about this," Tione added, ignoring her sister's indignation. "Gareth will show Allen a thing or two."

"Now now, let's not invite bad luck here. Let's just cheer him on from the stands," Riveria said, stepping forward.

"Good morning," Achilles greeted, giving her that ever-warmer smile.

"Good morning, Achilles," she returned, sending her own tender smile back.

Everyone else watched the two, giggling, smiling, or rolling their eyes.

"They should get together already."

Bell jumped as he turned and found Aiz next to him and smiling. Quickly getting over his surprise he smiled back.

"You're right," he whispered in return.

Not far away, Achilles and Riveria, having heard them, and finding it more than a bit ironic, rolled their eyes and laughed lightly.

"Come on, I saved you a seat," the fatherly former captain said.

"Thank you," the elven warrior princess replied.

Everyone took their seats and not long after, the Divine Mirrors reappeared above.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Good people of Orario! Your patience is finally being rewarded as it is finally time to begin Orario's first ever grand tournament!" Ibri cried as cheers echoed through the city. "And what a fight we have to start off with. Gareth Landrock has accepted Allen Fromel's challenge and has come here today, ready to show the Vana Freya exactly what he's made of!"

One of the gates that led into the arena opened and Gareth walked out to a round of applause, none of which was greater than that which originated from his familia, namely Tiona.

"Looking as rock-solid and ready for battle as ever! Now let's give a warm welcome to his challenger. The vice-captain of the legendary Freya familia. The fastest in the city. Allen Fromel!"

Cheers met this announcement as well and increased, courtesy of the young women in the crowd, as Allen walked out of his own gate, his usual frown painted on his face.

"'Fastest in the city'?" Achilles questioned.

"It's one of his titles. His speed is legendary. Only top tier adventurers can even see him," Riveria explained.

"He didn't seem that fast to me," he replied.

She laughed.

"I'll remind you that your speed is quite legendary as well, Achilles."

He smiled.

"I'll take that as a compliment."

Riveria didn't respond, instead basking in the moment as she felt her and the man next to her get closer with each passing moment together.

Down below, the two adventurer's faced each other.

"Good morning to you, Allen Fromel. I must say I was surprised when you challenged me. May I ask what brought that on?" Gareth inquired.

"You are a member of a rival familia. What more reason do I need?" Allen bit back.

If the rude response bothered Gareth, he showed no sign of it. Instead, he simply nodded.

"Quite right. No other reason is necessary," he replied, getting into position.

Allen's frown deepened as he did likewise.

"Our first contenders look ready, so let's get this party started!" Ibri cried. "Three. Two. One. Begin!"

Allen launched himself at Gareth, but the dwarf was ready for him. Bringing his axe up, he blocked the thrust Allen sent at his head. The sound of metal on metal rang through the air and the crowds cheered so loudly one might wonder if the gods in Heaven heard them.

Allen quickly retreated and began running around Gareth, looking for a weak spot.

Gareth watched him carefully, his eyes following the near blur as it sped around him over and over again. This lasted only a few moments before Allen struck again.

Sending his spear at Gareth much the same as he had before, it was not at all surprising when the dwarf blocked it again, however, this time the catman man used his momentum to spin around and aim a kick at Gareth's head. However, the Elgarm wasn't one of the officers of the Loki familia for nothing, and managed to block the attack with his arm. Then, before Allen could retreat again, he grabbed the leg and proceeded to lift the catman off the ground and slam him back against it.

"Whoo! Yeah! Get him Gareth!" Tiona cried out, now out of her seat and jumping up and down.

Allen Fromel was far from finished though, and despite the pain he managed a jab at Gareth, forcing the dwarf to retreat.

Now free of his enemy's grip, the Freya vice-captain got back up and immediately threw himself back at Gareth.

He swung his spear wide and the sturdy dwarf prepared to receive it. However, at the last moment, the attack stopped and retreated as Allen spun around the opposite way and hit the unprepared Gareth's axe so hard that his guard was opened.

Immediately leaping on the chance, he shifted his cat body and promptly kicked Gareth in the face, sending him back. However, Allen was far from done and moved to press his advantage.

As Gareth retook his positioning, Allen appeared behind him and slashed at his back. The armor reduced the strike somewhat, but Allen's spear wasn't made of paper either and so managed a long, shallow streak across the dwarf's back.

Still somewhat reeling from the first hit, Gareth found himself on the receiving end of numerous strikes and blows, as a half dozen cuts were opened up on his body.

He's in a bit of trouble, Achilles thought, frowning as he watched the fight continue.

"Come on, Gareth! Don't let him push you around! Kick his hairball butt!" Tiona demanded.

At least he's got proper support, Achilles noted.

Unknown to both the spectators in the stand, Gareth managed to hear Tiona over everything and smiled.

Don't worry youngin', I'm not done yet.

Bringing his axe up, Gareth smashed it against the ground, sending cracks through a large section of the arena. This had the intended effect as Allen, who had been preparing to land another strike, suddenly found his footing unstable.

Shit, he growled, knowing what would happen next.

Gareth appeared before him, his axe swinging straight towards his sternum.

Allen brought his spear up to block, but he knew it wouldn't be enough to stop the sledgehammer headed his way, and soon enough he was flying through the air towards the opposite end of the arena.

The crowd roared their approval and the cheering from the Loki familia grew to an extreme intensity.

"That's it, Gareth! Finish him!" a certain amazon demanded.

The momentum now shifted, Gareth attacked his opponent, ready to return the favor from earlier. However, just as Gareth wasn't out of the picture after his bruising, neither was Allen.

Seeing the attack coming, Allen ducked and moved to get some distance between them. Gareth wasn't about to allow that and pressed his attack only to have Allen dodge again.

Is this the best you can do Allen? Is this all your training has allowed? Hedin thought as he watched his superior fail to counter.

As if hearing his fellow familia member, Allen growled and finally counter-attacked, thrusting at Gareth. The dwarf, blocked again, but that was expected and indeed, desired.

Taking the chance, Allen jumped up and kicked both his feet against Gareth's axe, both forcing the Elgarm back, and pushing Allen far enough away to regain his bearings.

Now back on track, Allen, furious and ready for revenge, attacked Gareth. The dwarf tried to preempt his opponent's attack by taking a swing at him, but Allen gracefully dodged and quickly struck up, slashing Gareth across his calf.

Gareth grunted and there was no doubt in anyone's mind this was a deep cut, but as Allen aimed another strike at his head, he managed to dodge and then, with burning eyes, he grabbed Allen's spear, pulled the catman to him and gave him a stone-breaking punch to the face that sent him flying.

Hedin's frown deepened.

That is the second time you've allowed that to happen to you. Once from a child and now from an old man.

Allen crashed against the wall with enough force to leave a crater within it, before he fell down.

However, despite the obvious pain that Allen was sure to be in and his now apparent defenselessness, Gareth didn't attack.

He doesn't want to aggravate that cut on his leg, Achilles recognized. He was already at a disadvantage when it came to speed, but that wound only made it worse and he can't risk opening it up. Plus, his eyes shifted to the fallen catman. There's nothing as dangerous as a cornered, wounded beast.

Rage pumped through Allen's veins as he picked himself up.

You will pay for that, old man, he vowed. You will pay dearly!

Grabbing his spear, he rushed towards Gareth, murder in his eyes.

Gareth got ready, staring at his vengeful opponent as he drew closer and closer.

Halfway towards the dwarf, Allen slowed just long enough to throw his spear as hard as he could.

Gareth brought his axe to block the attack, but the force and speed of the spear was too great for even him to simply stop. The moment it made contact, he felt himself being pushed back and the pressure on his wounded leg made him grit his teeth. Worse yet, the spear managed to pierce his axe deep enough that he had to pull his head back or else risk it piercing him as well.

This all proved to be to Allen's benefit as he moved behind Gareth and kneed him in the back with enough force to crack the dwarf's armor.

Gareth grunted, but managed to swing around and aim the axe at the catman's head. Allen however, ducked, and as the axe sailed over his head he managed to reach out and pulled his spear from the it. That done, he got behind Gareth again and cracked the blunt side of the spear against the dwarf's head with enough force to send his helmet flying. But Allen was far from finished and he certainly wasn't sated. So, as Gareth reeled, he stabbed his spear into Gareth's other calf, sending the blade all the way through. Then, as Gareth gave off a cry, Allen kicked him onto his stomach, pulled out the spear before immediately stabbing it into the dwarf's shoulder.

"You feel that, old man?" Allen growled out, his voice pure venom. "Feel that pain?" he twisted the spear, causing Gareth to grunt. "That's what happens when you piss. Me. Off!" he pulled the spear out then stabbed Gareth's main hand, which even then was holding his axe. "Did you really think I was going to let some old fart like you beat me?!" he roared, lifting his foot up to smash Gareth's head into the ground. "That I would be defeated when my goddess is watching?! Did you?!"

He pulled his spear back and moved to pierce the Elgarm through his head.

"This is the price you pay for your insolence!"

He thrust the spear down.

Allen.

The catman instantly stopped and turned. Off in the distance, hidden from view, was his goddess.

That's enough, she said quietly. You've done well.

All the catman's rage evaporated and elation filled him as he heard his beloved goddess's words and felt her smile. That elation lasted only a moment though as he felt something sharp against his neck.

"Pull your spear back. Now."

Turning his eyes, Allen found Achilles glaring down at him, Dragon's Bane pressed against the younger man's neck.

Had this been before he heard his goddess's words, Allen would have been furious at the threat. However, for the first time since meeting the Olympian, he felt like he was the one in control.

"Sure. No problem," Vana Freya replied, smirking at the older man as he pulled his spear back. "He's not a threat to me."

"Say that when you don't have blood dripping down your face," Achilles threw back.

"Oh this?" Allen touched the blood. "Just a minor scuffle. Nothing I need to worry about."

With that the catman left, Achilles's eyes following after him.

Little prick, Achilles cursed. Maybe I'll give you a challenge and see how long that smugness lasts.

Shifting his attention to Gareth, he held out a hand to his old friend, the dwarf taking it with a smile of appreciation.

"Thank you, Achilles," he said.

"Of course. You're my friend, Gareth. I know I'm an ass, but even an asshole will help his friend."

Gareth laughed, easing the tension in the air, before swinging his arm over Achilles's shoulder so he could be walked out.

The crowd, appreciating this sight, began to applaud and did not stop even as Achilles led Gareth into the inner workings of the Coliseum to get patched up.

"Well um… that was quite something wasn't it ladies and gentlemen!" Ibri finally announced, playing a bit of catch-up. "Certainly one hell of a way to start off our tournament in my opinion! A truly magnificent fight and a bit of inter-familia comradery added in to show us the true spirit of an adventurer. Let's give everyone a hand!" The applause grew and resounded through the city as everyone silently agreed to move forward. "That said, this victory goes to Allen Fromel of the Freya familia. He and his familia are awarded ten points while Gareth Landrock and the Loki familia are awarded two. However, it's time to see what our judges have to say!"

Everyone's attention shifted to a panel of ten judges who were sitting in the main box of the Coliseum.

The panel was made up of Guild members, including Royman, Eina, and Misha, the latter two of which looked a bit uneasy after the fight.

"So, will our judges decide to give our first contestants extra points for such an incredible fight? Let's find out! We'll start with our victor, Allen Fromel!"

A few judges held up a sign with the number one printed on it, though many noticed that the one's who did so had a fangirly vibe to them.

"And the judges have spoken. Allen Fromel is awarded an additional four, personal points, for his fight!" Ibri announced, not getting nearly as much applause as before. "Now onto the defeated, but valiant Elgarm! What say the judges?!"

Very quickly, Eina, Misha and several other judges lifted up their signs, in turn receiving a much more positive response than before.

"Seven points! Can't say I blame them. Gareth really was a champ in this one and I wish I could give him a point myself! So there you have it people of Orario. Gareth Landrock receives an additional seven personal points for his fight, leaving our total at fourteen points for Allen Fromel, and nine points for Gareth Landrock!"

Applause erupted again, except in one section of the Coliseum.

"I can't believe it," Tiona said, clearly downcast.

"That fucking cat. When I get my hands on him, I'm going to skin him," Bete growled, his fur standing on end.

Riveria watched the reactions silently. Part of her wanted to say something, but she understood their feelings and was quite upset herself, especially after seeing what Allen was preparing to do.

Thank you, Achilles, she thought, happier than ever with who she had given her heart to.

Fate, decided to be kind to the elf at that moment as Achilles reappeared.

"How is he?" she asked.

"He's fine. A little beat up, but certainly nothing the healers and potions couldn't fix," Achilles replied.

Smiling softly, she reached out and took his hand.

"Thank you, Achilles. Truly. Thank you."

He looked at their conjoined hands, then up at her, before smiling back.

"I'll be here whenever you need me, Riveria. I promise," he replied as he squeezed her hand.

Allen sat in the room his familia had specifically set up for themselves.

"That was too close," Hedin chastised.

Allen spat blood at the elf's shoes.

"I won didn't I? And I even humiliated one of the leaders of our greatest rival."

"We have no rivals. Freya power is unquestionable," Hedin stated as he wiped the blood off his shoes.

"Whatever. I won, and I'd like to see you do better, pretty boy."

"At least he wouldn't have allowed the Olympian to sneak up on him," Hogni said, entering the conversation.

"You assholes want to go?! My blood's still pumping and I'm more than ready for another fight!"

The two former elven kings grabbed their weapons.

"Now now, no need for that."

Instantly all three took a knee and bowed their heads.

"Freya-sama," they greeted.

The goddess of beauty walked into the room, smiling at her children as she made her way over to Allen.

She gently lifted his head and looked into his eyes, her smile striking him dumb.

"Well done, Allen. I was very impressed with your fight."

"T-Thank you, Freya-sama. It was all for you."

"And I appreciate it. Needless to say you will be rewarded," she said. "As will all of you when you bring me even more victories."

"We will not fail you, Freya-sama!" they all declared.

"Of course not. You are my beloved children. The greatest in Orario," she responded, her voice like warm silk.

Except for a certain father-son duo. Though they'll soon be added to your ranks, she noted to herself.

"Heal and rest well. This tournament has only just begun and I need you at your best," she finished, turning to leave.

"Yes, Freya-sama," they all replied.

As his goddess departed, Allen, satisfied perhaps more than ever before, grew a vicious smile.

Just wait, rabbit. I'm coming from you, and once I prove to our goddess how worthless you are, I'll make what I did to the dwarf look like a lover's touch.

The tournament continued and while everyone watched eagerly, none of the fights had as much investment as the first, especially amongst the Hestia familia and company. That was, until Ouka's fight.

"Next up, we have the captain of an up-and-coming familia. Please give a warm welcome to Kashima Ouka!" Ibri announced.

A round of applause met the young man as he walked out into the arena, the loudest of which naturally came the Takemikazuchi familia and their friends.

"I hope he'll be alright," Chigusa said, worriedly.

"I'm sure he'll be fine," Mikoto soothed her. "He's your captain after all, and he's fighting for the most important thing of all."

Chigusa blushed, but smiled. However, her joy did not last long as her worry quickly returned.

"But Horus is a level two as well, and I've heard he's mean."

"Trust in Ouka. Trust in his love for you, and remember, we've been training for an entire month with some of the greatest adventurers in Orario," Mikoto replied.

That did help a bit and after a moment, Chigusa's eyes became resolute and she nodded.

"Go get him, Ouka!" she cried.

Mikot smiled before joining her in cheering.

"And let's not forget his opponent. From the tough, experienced, Horus familia, please welcome Ramses Nile!"

More applause and cheering erupted, this time centered on the opposite side of the arena where the Horus familia was located.

Horus wasn't a tall man, but he wasn't short either. He was about average, perhaps a bit taller, and had chestnut skin, not too dissimilar from an amazon. His hair was black, but had streaks of red and white going through it from front to back. In his hands were two axes. Nothing like Gareth's or Ouka's and more similar to a hatchet in size, but he seemed comfortable with them. He wore a small, golden breastplate on his chest that was a bit bigger than the one Bell used to wear. On his arms were a set of guards that had a feather design to them and on his legs were grieves in the same design.

"You ready to get humiliated in front of the cutie-pie of yours?" Ramses mocked, smugness oozing off him.

"I'm not about to lose to some jerk like you, especially not in front of Chigusa," Ouka responded.

"Ha! Once I'm done with you, I'll show her what a real man can do!"

Off in the crowd, Achilles rolled his eyes and shared a look with Riveria who laughed.

"Looks like our contestants are ready! So let us begin! Three. Two. One. Begin!"

Ramses charged at Ouka, but the Take captain remained calm and waited for him.

The Horus member lifted one of the axes over his head and brought it down, aiming for Ouka's neck. Ouka quickly countered, blocking the strike, but as Ramses moved to send the other axe at his now exposed side, Ouka's fist suddenly lashed out and punched him square in the face.

"Ooh! First strike from the Eastern captain!" Ibri declared, causing more people to cheer.

Ramses reeled back from the punch, but he didn't have time to recover and Ouka was immediately upon him.

Attempting to block Ouka's strike, Ramses found his axes batted aside. Then, before he could musher any sort of defense, Ouka thrust the pommel into his gut, knocking the wind out of him.

Yet Ouka was still not done as he swung his axe around and smacked Ramses across the face with the blunt side, sending him flying.

Ramses landed a few feet away, face first in the sand.

"You, bastard," he growled, though it came out more as a groan as blood dripped from his broken nose.

"Aah!" Ramses cried as he spun around and threw one of his axes at Ouka who batted it away. The Horus member then got up and charged the Take captain, holding his remaining axe above his head in both hands.

He screamed again once he reached Ouka and brought his weapon down, aiming to embed it in the Easterling's face. His plan ended though, the moment Ouka reached out and caught one of his arms.

Ramses after getting over his shock, tried to pull away, but to no avail.

"Let go you big lug!" he demanded.

He suddenly found himself lifted into the air by his arm so he could look directly into Ouka's eyes.

"Do you really want me to continue?" the captain asked.

Things were silent for a moment before Ramses held up his other arm.

"I submit."

"Good," Ouka replied, before unceremoniously dropping him.

"And there you have it folks!" Ibri declared. "It was a bit one-sided, but we not only got to see the resolve of one of Orario's captains, but also the resolve of a man in love! Sorry ladies, this one's taken!"

Cheers, applause, and a few sounds of disappointment passed through the air as Ouka, victorious and happy, turned around towards his familia and waved.

Chigusa, who was both relieved he was unharmed, and happy for his victory, couldn't even manage to find her voice and simply waved back frantically, wanting so much to embrace him that the moment he disappeared from view, she ran through the stands to go find him.

"Aw. Isn't that cute?" Hestia said.

"It is indeed," Hephaestus said, smiling.

"I am so happy they found each other," Takemikazuchi added, his heart filled with joy at seeing his children in such a state of bliss.

"Alright!" Ibri continued, grabbing everyone's attention again. "Now it's time for our judges to give their verdict. First up, our challenger and victor, Kashima Ouka!"

Half the judges, including Eina and Misha held up their signs.

"And an additional five points are given to the Takemikazuchi captain for his flawless victory. Now, what will they give to his opponent?"

A single sign was held up and Achilles snorted.

"That's a pity point if I've ever seen one," he said out loud.

"And Horus receives one extra point for taking his lumps! Well done to them both! But now, we've come to the final fight of the day and ooh, does it look like a good one. A battle between two of the city's most powerful and beautiful ladies! Please join me in welcoming our challenger for the last fight on this, our first day of the tournament, Aisha Belka!"

The air shook with the booming calls of the people of the city as Aisha walked into the arena, looking as stunning as ever wearing her usual outfit and smiling eagerly. In her hand was her greatsword, looking ready for battle.

"Now, for her opponent. Please welcome the elven maiden of the Hestia familia, Ryuu Lion!"

Ryuu walked out in her familiar green outfit, though many noticed it had some slight upgrades. She now wore some leather armguards, complete with a slot for knives, as well as specialized mesh legging that acted as light armor while, of course, also having a few pockets for her to hide things like items and knives.

"It's been awhile, blondie," Aisha greeted.

"It has indeed, Belka-san," Ryuu replied.

"I thought it was about time you and I had a proper match," Aisha said.

"I quite agree," Ryuu responded. "Don't expect me to go easy on you."

"I'd be pissed if you did," the amazon replied, smiling.

"Looks like the ladies are ready! So...Three. Two. One. Begin!"

Aisha immediately closed the distance between them and struck out at the Ryuu, the sound of their weapons crashing together resounding through the Coliseum.

"Come forth, champion of savages!"

That spell! Bell thought, immediately recognizing it.

Ryuu also realized what was happening, and attacked Aisha with renewed vigor. This did manage to push the amazon back, but it did not stop her chanting.

"Raging warrior! Brave fighter!" she continued, striking out at Ryuu again.

She's trying to end this quickly. She knows that if things drag out, Ryuu's superior level will eventually do her in, Achilles surmised.

"Greedy, cruel hero! If you desire the empress's girdle, then prove your worth!"

Realizing that she wasn't going to be able to stop her, Ryuu began her own chant.

"Now in the sky, above the distant forest-."

However, Aisha, quickly noticing the spell, managed to force Ryuu's weapon down and quickly knee her in the face before she could finish it, all the while not stopping her own.

"Fill my body, pierce my body, kill my body, and prove your worth! As I hunger, my name is Hippolyte!"

Dark red energy surrounded her blade as she prepared to attack Ryuu with everything she had.

Yet Ryuu was not nearly done.

Recovering from Aisha's strike she began to run around the arena, picking up speed as she ran around the amazon.

"Trying to catch me off guard are you!" Aisha called. "This won't impress our dear rabbit you know!"

She suspected that would hit a nerve, and not a moment later she was proven right as Ryuu, having now picked up enough speed and not about to let that goading go unpunished, charged at Aisha.

"Hell Kaios!" Aisha cried.

A wave of magic launched at Ryuu, but just as it was about to strike her, she turned her body in the air, graceful as the wind, and dodged it, before heading straight for Aisha.

The former Ishtar member was shocked by the move, but did not have time to dwell on it as she was forced to block Ryuu's incoming attack.

The force of Ryuu's blow forced Aisha back and she grit her teeth as she tried to hold on. However, her grimace soon turned into a smile as she looked Ryuu in the eyes.

"You're quite something, I'll give you that," she said.

"Your skill is impressive as well," Ryuu replied, pushing Aisha harder.

"Thanks. Don't think that means I'm not going to have my fill of rabbit meat the moment I get the chance though."

This attempt at goading had been in hope of getting Ryuu to act rashly and for a moment, it looked like it had worked, as Ryuu's eyes widened in jealous fury. However, just as Aisha was about to strike out at the elf, she found her legs being swept out from under her, causing her to fall on her back.

She grunted at the unexpected turn of events, only to find Ryuu's wooden sword pointed at her neck.

"Surrender," Ryuu demanded, clearly in no mood for games.

Aisha smiled.

"You say that like this is over."

Before Ryuu knew what was happening, Aisha's legs wrapped around her neck and slammed her against the ground.

"We ladies of the night are very flexible," Aisha stated proudly.

Ryuu struggled, but all that did was make Aisha's legs tighten.

"Ah ah ah, don't try it. I'm a level four and an amazon, which means I have more than enough strength to hold you, even as a level five."

Ryuu was not about to give up though, especially not to this woman and especially not after her mockery. She struggled for a moment, only finding the legs around her neck tightening as she did so.

I need to find another way out, she thought.

The answer came to her when she felt the ground beneath her.

Gathering up all her strength, Ryuu pushed off the ground, forcing the two into the air.

Aisha, completely shocked, didn't have time to respond as Ryuu, pulling the legs from her neck, quickly shifted in the air, grabbed Aisha's legs, then threw the amazon over her head and against the arena floor with all her might.

"Aah!" Aisha cried as she went face first into the sand.

This was not the end though as Ryuu immediately pushed a knee into her back, used her arms to push Aisha's head into the sand and put one of her knife's in front of Aisha's face.

"Surrender," she repeated.

Aisha, despite the situation, wondered if she could wiggle her way out of it. Her legs were still free and she began to shift in preparation for an attack.

"Don't try it," Ryuu warned, putting more pressure on the amazon's head.

Aisha smiled then burst out laughing.

"You're a tough cookie. Looks like this is my loss," she said and held up her hand. "I submit!"

"Aisha Belka has submitted. Victory goes to Ryuu Lion!" Ibri announced.

As the crowd cheered, Ryuu got off of Aisha and held out her hand. Aisha accepted it and was pulled to her feet.

"Sheesh, do you treat all girls this rough or is it just me?" the amazon asked as she wiped the sand off her face.

"No other girl I know has ever referred to my captain as a piece of meat to be consumed," Ryuu said sternly.

Aisha looked at her for a moment, trying to puzzle out the girl in front of her, before her smile returned and she nodded.

"You're right. He's not a piece of meat. He's a man. A real man. One worth fighting for. So don't go thinking I'm giving up on my loveable rabbit," she stated.

"And don't think for a moment I'm going to allow you to dig your claws into him," Ryuu replied.

Aisha laughed again.

"Then I'll look forward to our rematch in the future," she said before turning to leave.

Come at me as many times as you want. The only ones who I will ever accept having him are Syr and myself, Ryuu mentally affirmed.

"Now, let's see what the judges have to say, starting with our amazonian warrior!"

All the male judges, including Royman, held up their signs. This caused many women throughout the city to roll their eyes, though it was noted that one woman joined them.

"That's six additional points awarded to Aisha Belka. Good for her! Now, what say our judges on our elven victor?!"

Most of the men held up their signs again and were now joined by several ladies, including Misha. However, the pink-haired young woman noticed that Eina was not holding up her sign. She quickly understood why and smiled.

Can't award your rivals points, can you? Misha thought, laughing to herself.

"Seven points! Seven points are added to Ryuu Lion's personal score, and who could blame them! After such a ferocious fight I'm surprised she didn't get more! But, ladies and gentlemen, adventurers and visitors, that is our final fight for our first day of the tournament. Wasn't it a grand spectacle?!" Cheers and shouts of agreement met his question. "I thought so too. And this is just the beginning. Tomorrow, the fights will begin again, with even more great challenges being sure to take place. Speaking of which, it's time to find out who will be challenging who. So let's find out!"

As the first challenges began to roll in, Bell, Haruhime, Mikoto, Lili, and Hestia, excused themselves to go check up on Ryuu, leaving the two eldest men of the familia to hear the challenges.

Most were ones of little consequence to them, but Achilles once again noticed that the Freya familia seemed to be making the most challenges, which did not sit well with him.

Even if they're just trying to show their dominance, every victory and ever valis they get makes them stronger and puts us in a worse position by comparison, he thought.

Finally though, a familiar name popped up.

"Welf Crozzo, the 'Ignis' of Hestia familia challenges Daphne Lauros, of Miach familia to battle."

Those that were left turned to the smith who smiled before turning to a surprised Daphne.

"I thought this would be a good chance for us to have a rematch to our fight during the War Game," he said.

It took her a moment to respond, but when she did, she smiled back and nodded.

"I look forward to it."

Seeing that the relationship hadn't been strained by the challenge, most everyone smiled and turned back to the challenges only to have another familiar name appear.

"Lefiya Viridis, the 'Thousand Elf' of Loki familia, challenges Filvis Challia, the 'Maenads' the combat!"

Everyone shifted their eyes to Lefiya who was now blushing.

"S-She's helped me grow a lot, and I thought it…it would be a sign of me growing if I managed to defeat her," she explained. "I don't want to hurt her!" she quickly added. "She's my friend and I care very much for her, but I just want to see how far I've come."

After hearing her explanation, the surprise faded, replaced by nods and words of encouragement.

Riveria, smiling, got up from her seat and made her way over to the younger elf.

"You've grown tremendously, Lefiya," she said stroking her hair. "You should be very proud of yourself."

"R-Really?" Lefiya asked, blushing.

Riveria nodded.

Not a moment later, the elven princess was wrapped in a hug as Lefiya snuggled into her, happy tears in her eyes.

I suppose some things will never change, though, Riveria thought, rolling her eyes as she continued to stroke the girl's hair.

The two elves eventually broke apart and Riveria returned to her seat. However, Achilles noted that she seemed a bit antsy now, as if she was waiting for something.

Did she issue a challenge? he wondered. If so, to whom?

"Oh ho, we've got another big-time Loki familia member!" Ibri announced. "This time it's Riveria Ljos Alf, the 'Nine Hells', and it looks like she wants a bit of revenge on the Freya familia as she's challenged Hedin Selland, the 'Hildrsleif'!"

Achilles turned to her.

"It's just…," she began, her voice noticeably shaky. "Something that I need to do," Riveria said.

Achilles was confused and a bit alarmed at her tone; and he certainly wanted to know more, but decided to leave it be. He trusted her after all.

"Alright. But, I'm here for you if you need me," he assured.

She smiled and nodded.

"I know. Thank you."

She faced forward, her grip on Achilles's hand tightening as her thoughts played out.

I need to do this. To cleanse myself of the past so I can be ready for a future with the man I actually want.

"Come on you two, we need to get to the Guild!" a small, tan woman with red-hair shouted.

"Hold your horses!" one of the two amazons followed her screamed. "Sheesh, why is our goddess such a brat!"

The second amazon did not reply and simply followed after the goddess.

"We need to get to the Guild and have them sign us up for this tournament!"

"What if they don't allow us to join it since, you know, we're not a familia in Orario, what then?" the louder amazon asked.

"Then we force them to," the goddess replied.

The loud amazon smiled.

"Sounds good to me. I've heard there are some 'legendary' males here in need of some real women and I'm not letting so fat, pencil-pusher keep me from them."

The second amazon remained quiet.

"That's the spirit! I've even heard that the captain of the Zeus familia himself has come back!" the goddess acclaimed.

"That mean he's strong?" the louder amazon asked.

"The Zeus and Hera familia were the strongest familia in Orario years ago. They killed two of the three Great Beasts and the captain is the only person to have survived fighting the great Black Dragon. Not even the Sword Hero managed that," the quiet one said, finally speaking up.

The other amazon turned to her.

"So he's strong?" she said, licking her lips.

The quiet amazon turned to her.

"Yes. Possibly the strongest."

The loud one's smile turned gluttonous.

"Then what are we waiting for! Let's get to the Guild!"

"That's the spirit Argana! Come on Bache!"

Bache silently followed after her goddess.

"Come on, we ain't got all day!" Argana screamed before she turned around and bumped into a woman, causing the latter to fall over. "What the? You want to die?!"

"W-What?" the woman replied, clearly startled and afraid.

"People who bump into me are people that don't want to live long!" Argana roared, looking ready to tear the woman apart.

"Calm down, Argana. No need to sour the mood by getting in trouble for killing some nobody," the goddess stated.

Argana growled.

"Fine! But only because I'm in a good mood. You got lucky today, bitch!"

The amazon turned and left, leaving the stunned woman behind.

"W-What just happened?" the woman asked.

"Are you alright?"

The woman turned to find a young man with white hair and red eyes staring down at her and holding out his hand.

"Oh, yes, I'm fine! Thank you," she responded, taking his hand.

"I'm sorry about that. I don't recognize those adventurers, but what they did is unacceptable," the young man said.

"It's quite alright, I've dealt with worse," she responded with a smile.

"Well, is there anything I can do to help you?" he asked.

Such a sweet boy, she thought, happy to have met someone so different to the amazon she had just dealt with.

"Thank you very much. I was actually heading towards the Guild in hopes of finding someone I lost contact with a while ago," she said.

"Oh? Who's that? I might be able to save you a trip," he offered.

"That's very kind of you. Well, since you're offering I suppose there's no harm in asking. If you don't know I'll just head to where I was going to anyway. The person I'm looking for is a blonde elf, about your height actually," she laughed lightly. "And she's an adventurer. Her name is Ryuu Lion, though she was also known as Gale."

The boy stared at her, surprise and recognition mixing on his face.

"How do you know, Ryuu?" he asked.

The woman was a bit surprised herself that he seemed to know who she was talking about, but replied courteously.

"I'm her goddess, Astraea."

And done-so!

Well then, that one turned out a lot longer than I expected (again). I thought about splitting this one like I have in the past, but decided against it because there was stuff I wanted to get to, like a certain goddess's return.

Anywho, the tournament has begun dear peeps! What do you think? I'm guessing some of you are mad that Allen won his fight, but I hope it was at least acceptable to you. Believe me, I seriously considered NOT doing that given he's not exactly my favorite character, if that wasn't obvious.

That said though, please do share your thoughts with me and don't be afraid to make suggestions as well. I've got quite a few fights in mind, along with a few important events, but I am open to ideas. The addition of the Kali familia and Astraea actually came from you guys as I thought about it and came up with ideas that I liked so, again, feel free to share.

Please note though, I don't know much about the Kali familia or Astraea, so if you all would be so kind as to tell me if I'm getting the characters wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

With all that, it's time for this chapter to come to a close, so I'll bid you all farewell and, until next time, bye for now.
