Chapter 1: World Championship Qualifiers

The person stood in front of the stadium entrance, looking up at the massive venue as people around him rushed to get inside.

So this is it huh? The World Championship, the mysterious person talked to his beyblade as he slowly walked inside.

Listen up closely folks cause I got big news! Competition to select Japan's reps for the official WBBA Beyblade Tournament, the World Beyblade World Championship[BWCS] will be held around the country at the same time. Do you hear me?! Sure you do! Blader DJ shouted into the camera for all of Japan to see as he announced the BWCS.

Now pay attention because here are the rules of this puppy. Winning because of a sleep out? Earn you guessed it, 1 point. Winning because of a stadium earns you 2 points. Continue to battle with all the time you have in your matches and the four bladers with the most points, OH YEAH! Will move onto the finals! DJ explained enthusiastically.

So bladers around the country gather at the arenas; this time, IT'S WORLDWIDE, BLADERS BABY! DJ ended.

The world, the BWCS, I'm going and I'll take on the world, yee haw! Benkei excitedly shouted and rushed to another arena to get the best shot at qualifying.

What about you kiddo? Tsubasa asked Yu.

Huh? Yu replied.

Are you gonna stay here? Tsubasa continued.

Yup, I mean I have to get back at that guy from before, Yu explained his reason for staying. Tsubasa looked at him, wondering who he was referring to.

Y'know the guy I'm talking about; the guy who interrupted our match, Yu refreshed Tsubasa's memories.

Flashback

Yu and Tsubasa were admist in an intense battle when a third beyblade interrupted their clash.

HA! This looks like a fun little battle, let me play too, the stranger announced as he jumped down to the stadium from the stance.

"My name is Masamune Kadoya and I'm the number one blader in the world! Masamune gave a thumbs up as he declared.

Flashback Ends

I see, well then I guess I'm just gonna leave him to you. Let's plan to meet again at the finals, okay? Tsubasa said as he began to leave for another arena.

Sure thing Tsubasa; I'm looking forward to it, Yu responded as he waved his rival goodbye.

As the tournament was starting, tons of people gathered around the stands either preparing to fight or getting a seat to watch the amazing battles.

Oh wow… What a crowd! There are so many people! Kenta noticed as he arrived on the scene when suddenly he heard two people arguing behind him.

Gingka and Masamune were rushing towards the arena, butting heads with each other as they argued over whoever was going to end up taking the first spot. They rushed past Kenta as he tried to start a conversation.

GINGKA, MASAMUNE! Kenta shouted.

The boys immediately stopped arguing and hurried over to their green haired friend. So Kenta, are you ready to get your battle on, Gingka asked.

Oh yeah, for sure; I'm definitely ready to get my battle on today Gingka. It's so great to see everyone here too! Because I wanna battle with strong bladers as I try to make it through the first round, Kenta stated.

Now you're talking and that's what makes a true blader my friend, Masamune responded looking forward to potentially battling Kenta in the qualifiers.

All right. Why don't you battle with me first buddy? Gingka suggested that Kenta looked at him as if he didn't know.

Gingka, don't you know? You're already in, Kenta said.

Huh? WHAT'S GOING ON?! Gingka clearly confused and disappointed he won't get to battle.

What gives, What gives?! Gingka repeated as he rushed to his dad's booth, slamming the door open as he looked at him with puppy eyes. FATHER, WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?! Gingka questioned his dad.

Huh? You won the battle blader's tournament so it just made sense to choose you, Ryūsei explained his reasons for making his son a member of the Japan Team.

You mean there's this great competition right here and I can't join in?! Gingka cried but quickly looked out of the window as DJ began preparing all the participants to get ready.

3,2,1! LET IIIITTTT RIP! Everyone yelled the same as the tournament officially began. Meanwhile Gingka watched on; crying while Ryūsei and Hikaru sweatdropped at his over the top reaction.

Now hold on to your base boys and girls; it's time to announce the final 4 contestants. DJ prepares to reveal the top 4 bladers who will battle each other for a spot on the Japan Team.

In fourth place with 350 total points, Masamune! DJ holds up four fingers as Masamune is flabbergasted at being the last out of the top 4.

No way… I'm not in first place? Masamune in disbelief as he awaits the three bladers who bested him.

The third place goes with 370 points, TSUBASA! DJ continues as Tsubasa who is disappointed he only got 3rd place.

And with 500 bey points-

5! Did he say 500 bey points?! Tsubasa couldn't believe his ears as someone managed to get 500 points in the time they had and 500 was only enough for second place.

You're kidding me?! Yu as much as he was disappointed for not qualifying, he was as excited to know who got second place.

For real?! Masamune shares the same shook expression as the rest.

Gingka, who watched from the booth with his dad and Hikaru, couldn't even guess who it was.

It's KYOUYA! DJ reveals as the TV screens reveal the venue he participated in and to no one's surprise, every blader in that stadium was knocked out by a powerful tornado as Leon roared.

For those who noticed the split second frame, saw Kyouya's right eyebrow twitched, hinting at disappointment for only being second place.

Then who's in first! Yu begged to know.

I can't believe someone managed to get more than 500 points! How many bladers did they beat? Random bladers around Japan gossiped to each other as they awaited the winner.

And in first place… even DJ had to pause to check his information was correct as he even couldn't believe the numbers. With a massive score of 1000 points!

Sorry what! Masamune couldn't even begin to wonder how someone could achieve that many points.

This has to be a joke?! Tsubasa who was shocked at Kyouya getting 500, couldn't believe someone managed to beat that and with the double amount.

The audience was in disbelief, knowing these were some of the best bladers in Japan and someone beat them to 1st place?

With 1000 points! We have our winner, please give it up to AKUMA! The screens switched once more to show fallen bladers and their beys shattered with Akuma and his beyblade standing in the middle of the arena, smiling wickedly.

Boom! That's the scoop. The four qualifiers have been decided. There are two more tickets to the Beyblade World Championship still up for grabs; so folks who will take them? DJ faded from the screens as they displayed a portrait of the top 4 bladers one more time.

Yeesh! Look at Masamune sleeping so peacefully. No fair; I wanted to battle too, Gingka moans as Madoka tries to encourage her friend.

It would have been exciting for you to battle Kyouga huh? Madoka smiles.

Kyouya did well to take second place. Four bladers qualified in that round which leaves two spots open, feeling encouraged by Madoka's words, Gingka looks forward to seeing who will become his teammates.

If Kyouya wins the next battle, he's in, right? Madoka asks as Gingka shouts in happiness.

The world huh… Kenta murmurs. Gingka immediately feels guilty as his friend failed to qualify despite his best efforts.

Ahhh… Sorry Kenta, I didn't try to be mean. Gingka apologised while Madoka looked at the bright side.

If you battled for more points instead of battling Masamune, you would have a REALLY good chance.

Hmm, yeah but it's okay. It's too bad that I can't go to the Beyblade World Championships with Gingka but it's no biggie. I got the results I had hoped for; And besides I left it all out there so no regrets. Kenta displayed his positive attitude.

NO! I'm in fourth place? You gotta be kidding! Masamune woke up from "nightmare" as he still hadn't accepted that he didn't get first place.

Huh? A dream, oh can't stand when I wake up from a nap. Nuts can't be helped. Hey! Let's battle Gingka, Masamune declared as Gingka wasn't in the mood.

Yep, he's still upset he didn't take first place, isn't he? It's hard to call yourself number one when you come in fourth, Madoka and Kenta sweatdropped.

Speaking of, I can't believe someone got 1000 points, Kenta reminded everyone.

Don't remind me. When I beat that guy, I'll show him it doesn't matter how many points he got because I'm number one baby, Masamune gloated.

Yeah… I wonder who he is and how powerful he is? Madoka, do you have any idea? Gingka asked his mechanic friend.

Let me see… Madoka typed in Akuma's name into her web browser but prior to today's qualification match, she seemingly couldn't find any prior records on the mysterious blader.

That's odd, how can someone that strong, not exist? Kenta commented.

Luck, I bet, there's no way I lose to that guy tomorrow and then I'll show the world I'm the best. Masamune pointed his pointy finger to the sky while the rest just sweatdropped in the background.

So at last the finals to decide who will participate in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS will begin. The first match will be the SURPRISING blader Akuma vs THE ONE AND ONLY Masamune!

Ladies and Gentlemen; the second match will be the AMAZING Kyouya vs the CUTTING Tsubasa!

I wonder why Kyouya is in the second match? Benkei questioned.

Don't worry. With these four, no matter who battles who; it's sure to be a sure exciting afternoon. Gingka exclaimed, excited for the matches to come.

Come on, Masamune, you can do it! Kenta cheered.

Speaking of, Masamune waited on his opponent who slowly walked up to the bey stadium, yawning.

Think you won huh? Then think again! Because right here, my Striker will crush anything that comes in my way to become number one in the world! Masamune showed his usual confidence.

But then for a split second, Masamune flinched as Akuma's mood changed instantaneously to something much darker.

Hihihi, is that so? Akuma said as his wicked smile made Masamune feel uncomfortable.

Time to cut the shit chat and find out who gets the spot as a participant in the BWCS. Ready? Three, two, one!

Let it rip! Masamune shouted as Striker and Akuma's beyblade met each other in the middle of the stadium, causing sparks as both tried to get the upper hand.

Then Ray Striker made a run for it while Akuma's beyblade stayed in the middle, seemingly waiting for Striker to strike.

Hey Madoka, what's that bey Akuma is using? Kenta asked.

Let me check, Madoka started recording data on Akuma's beyblade. So it's called Bahamut and it's an attack type just like Striker and…AHHH! Madoka gasped at the revelation.

What?! Madoka? Kenta was confused over her reaction.

Here, look, Madoka tilted her laptop for everyone to see and now they understood.

Bahamut is a left rotating bey, Madoka clarified while Gingka had a flashback of Ryuga, the only known blader to own a left-spinning beyblade till now.

This caught the eye of Ryūsei and Hikaru as they watched from their booth. Director, how is that possible? Hikaru spoke with a hint of fear in her voice as it reminded her of what L-Drago did to her.

Hm, Ryūsei was so focused on the battle that he didn't hear Hikaru's question.

Too chicken to battle Striker head on? Where's that cocky attitude of yours now? Masamune pointed towards Akuma.

Madoka, Kenta and Gingka sweatdropped as they all thought the same thing. "Says the guy who claims to be number one"

Hehe hehe, Akuma just laughed.

Seriously dude, what's up with the creepy laugh, Masamune questioned.

If you want to find out, THEN COME AT ME! HAHAHA Akuma laughed as he stuck out his tongue while flickering his fingers, telling Masamune: "Come at me"

Your funeral; STRIKER! Charge head on! Masamune instructed. Striker charged with a full speed attack and as Striker collided head-on, a big explosion ignited.

Take that! Masamune exclaimed but as the smoke disappeared, it was Striker who got pushed back while Bahamut continued to spin steadily in the middle.

Sorry what! Masamune couldn't believe Striker didn't even make a dent. Striker again!

Once more, it was a repeat of the last attack with the same result. Striker barraged with a series of head-on attacks but Bahamut didn't budge.

Come on Striker! You can do it! Masamune encouraged his bey. Meanwhile Madoka continued to analyse Bahamut and she had a bad feeling.

Something doesn't add up, Madoka talked to herself. What's not adding up Madoka? Benkei was curious what she meant by that.

Bahamut's stats don't add up. By my calculations, it should have all gone down by Striker's attack power but only Striker has decreased in power. And that defence, only a strong defence type should be able to block those kinds of attacks.

There's gotta be a way, right Madoka? Kenta hoped Masamune could find a solution.

I'm not sure Kenta, Madoka doubted, despite knowing higher stats don't always equal a winner.

Come on, Striker, push through! As Striker neared Bahamut, at the very last second, Bahamut dodged the attack and started circling the stadium while Striker almost left the pit in a sleep out.

That was a close call, Striker, attack! Masamune ordered as his bey caught up to Bahamut with its superior speed but Bahamut easily predicted the attack pattern and countered.

Now Striker was on the defence but not for long as Striker flashed and disappeared as Bahamut attacked and appeared behind the dragon bey.

There it is folks! Ray Striker's blistering speed thanks to its performance tip. Can Akuma and his Bahamut find a way to stop it? DJ commented.

Oh, that's a nice little trick for a unicorn HAHAHA, Akuma laughed as he was entertained by Masamune's theatrics.

Bahamut chased after the green unicorn but missed its target every time as it teleported.

Try all you want, no beyblade is quicker than my Striker! Masamune proudly claimed as he hit the chest. But then he felt that dark aura again as Akuma gave another one of his creepy smiles.

Bahamut missed but as Striker reappeared, somehow Bahamut had caught up and launched Striker into the air and barely recovered as it landed on the rim, staying in the fight.

Striker tried again but once more Bahamut just caught up in an instant and was now on the backfoot as Bahamut pushed it backwards without even sweating.

Suddenly Gingka heard something that sounded like metal being sliced. Do you guys hear that? Gingka asked his friends.

Hear what? Kenta asked. Then Madoka was baffled by what her laptop was showing her as Bahamut's speed had drastically increased from outta nowhere but whatmore, she got alerted as the screen began to flash red.

Masamune, you have to stop! Striker won't last for long if you keep this up! Madoka yelled, worried over Striker's health.

What's going on Madoka? All the guys asked and Madoka zoomed in on their clash. As Bahamut continued to push Strikers backwards, it was also ripping apart pieces of Striker.

Striker, don't give up! Masamune, unaware of the danger, begged his bey to fight back.

Your bey crying? Hehehe, Akuma gave a warning as Masamune had failed to notice his bey's cries.

What… Masamune looked at his bey and noticed shards of his bey were all over the stadium. When did this happen… Masamune couldn't believe he failed to notice his bey was in a critical condition.

NO! WE CAN'T LET IT END LIKE THIS! Come on Masamune, think, think, think… Y'know what?! screw it! Striker get ready, let's give Bahamut a taste of his own medicine, let's put all of our power into one final attack! SPECIAL MOVE: LIGHTNING SWORD FLASH!

NO! MASAMUNE DON'T! Madoka had realised what Akuma had been doing all along. He held back his true powers and toyed with Masamune all along.

Striker's horn absorbed the lightning and rushed head-on like its master commanded in one last attempt to win.

Goodbye Strikeeerrr! Akuma sang.

As Striker hit its target, a massive shockwave and explosion could be felt through the whole arena as the audience had to cover their eyes as the force behind was a force to be reckoned with.

I think this is it folks! We might have our winner as soon as the smoke clears, DJ comments.

Everyone in the audience eagerly awaited the results as the smoke began to clear up.

And the winner is… AKUMA AND BAHAMUT! Japan now has its second member secured for the BWCS!

Everyone in the stadium screamed out of excitement and applauded the bladers for an entertaining battle but not for Masamune who learned the fate of his beyblade.

While Bahamut was still spinning, there were severe cracks in Strikers and miraculously not shattered into million pieces but safe to say Masamune wouldn't battle anytime soon.

STRIKER! Masamune screamed in pain for the whole stadium to hear as he failed his partner.

Masamune… The gang felt for their "friend". Meanwhile Akuma recalled his beyblade and slowly began walking out of the venue.

AKUMA! I WILL BEAT YOU THE NEXT TIME WE BATTLE! Masamune vowed.

Akuma turned around and gone was the wicked smile and someone who looked bored.

Um.. sure, I guess, Akuma replied to Masamune's vow like it didn't mean anything. Masamune felt irritated as Akuma seemingly didn't take his words seriously but before he could say another word, he was gone.

So now only one spot as a representative for Japan remains. WHO WILL WIN IN THE END? TSUBASA? OR WILL BE IT KYOUYA? WHICH ONE WILL EARN THEIR TICKET TO THE BWCS?! DJ asked the audience.

Had this idea for a long time and after reading GoatedReads' BeyBlade: Metal Masters: The Twin Jewels Of BeyBlade fanfic(Highly recommend) I'd give it a go. Despite growing up with the metal series, I actually prefer the OG series with the likes of Tyson, Kai, Max and Ray but I felt the metal universe felt more fitting for what I have in mind. As to why I picked Metal Master, I think the world championship is the perfect setting for the story and Metal Fury feels way over the top.

As for the pairing it's going to be OC x Hikaru X Selen Garcia and as always, no guarantees I will continue/finish the story as I'm doing it for the fun of it and til I lose interest.
