Author Note
Okay, so I'm testing the waters with this idea. I'm a huge fan of HG Well's story The War of the Worlds, so it was only natural that I got the idea to do a crossover story with one of my beloved games, Assassins Creed Syndicate. The setting, Victorian London in 1868, and the years in which events unfold in WOTW are a couple of decades apart, so I think I can pull it off without straying too far from the small differences in technological advances, etc that would have occurred over the years between the two.
Note on changing dates.
I have changed the dates of the Martian invasion around a bit, setting my fanfic a little over a decade after the events of Syndicate. The evidence from the novel does suggest that the events in The War of the Worlds takes place in 1890 onwards and as certain as I am that Jacob and Evie Frye would still be kicking arse in their forties, I wanted to keep Jacob's carefree spirit and sometimes reckless behaviour in my tale, but also show that he has grown a bit wiser with age. In 1888 (during the Jack the Ripper DLC) Events during that time seem to have matured Jacob quite a lot, and whilst I could have set my story around the same dates from the WOTW, I have more fun writing his character when he is more rebellious and care-free, so settling in a timeline roughly halfway seemed like a good point to go on. It should also be noted that this does mean that Evie and Henry Green are still present in London (Canonically, They both move to India) I am a stickler for details when it comes to trying to keep important events canon (you should have seen how obsessed I got studying Victorian maps looking for fictional Martian landing sites…), but its an AU, so I guess I can cut myself a little slack in deviating a bit. And that's the whole point of a Fanfic… Isn't it? xD
Progress.
This is not a complete story yet, but I've had loads of fun writing it the past few days. I have 4 chapters written so far, so lets see how it goes from here. hopefully I'll have a few people intrigued by this crossover, and if not? well, it was worth a try :D
(If you've never read HG Well's The War of the Worlds, I encourage you to do so. Its a great tale!)
Thanks all, and all the best x
Onward to Chapter one, Initiates !
