AN: Thank you once again for all of the new follows/favorites.
Not going to put much here, so let's get on with the show.
Morning came around relatively quickly and for the girls of Team RWBY, they couldn't really tell it was morning, since although they had a window, there was no light showing in. The only thing they had to know of the time was the alarm clock that they had on the middle desk between their beds. At first, they thought the previous night was all a dream, but then they looked at their bunkbeds, and knew instantly it wasn't.
Yang: "Anyone else think last night was a dream too?" She said while stretching.
"Yup," was the immediate response from the girls.
Weiss: "I can't believe last night actually happened, though I'll admit the new bunkbed was comfy. I practically fell asleep right as soon as I hit the pillow."
Blake: "Same here. But that also might be because of how tired we all were after the Breach. We never did get enough sleep while in Mountain Glenn."
Ruby: "That's true, but now we have this place, Hedge, and the story to think about."
Yang: "Think he'll tell us everything?"
Weiss crosses her arms across her chest. "Unlikely. He'll probably tell us what we need to know to an extent. Anything after that will be left for us to decide if it's true or not."
Ruby: "Are you saying we shouldn't trust him?" She always looked for the good in anyone she recently met.
Weiss sighed. "That's tough to say."
Blake: "If he really wanted to do something to us, he probably would have done so already. He has those 'Chaos Emeralds' at his disposal, and probably could eliminate us with a snap of his fingers."
Yang: "So a loose trust then. He did say he could take all of us in a fight, except maybe Ozpin."
Ruby: "That was when we all had our weapons on hand. Now, they're locked in the weapon cases. I know Ozpin is known to be a strong Huntsman, but we don't really know what Hedge's full power is."
Weiss: "Assuming he has a limit. Those Emeralds give the user unimaginable power. Imagine those in the hands of Torchwick or the White Fang."
Blake: "I'd rather not, thank you very much." She'd REALLY not like to think what HE would do with them. Quickly she shook her head of those thoughts away.
Yang: "Let's just get ready and go have some breakfast. No doubt the others are probably already there." The girls nodded at that, but Yang sported a grin on her face. "I call first dibs on the bathroom!" Although Hedge had said there were full restrooms with showers across the theater room, the lodging rooms still had their own bathroom, and it had every piece of toiletries they owned back at Beacon. The girls knew that Yang would take a while due to her hair.
Ruby: "Come on, girls. Across the way we go." They all started to grab their daily clothes and head out, but Yang called out to them.
Yang: "Hey, looks like we each have our own individual shower!"
The girls looked at each other wondering if they heard her correctly, and then ran into the bathroom, and sure enough, there were 4 shower stalls, one for each of them. Each one was color-coated, and the curtains had their emblems on them.
Weiss: "Wow, guess Hedge thought ahead with this."
Blake: "Saves us time getting ready."
Mentally thanking Hedge, they all went about their way to get ready.
AN: I know this retcons the previous chapter's ending with dimming the lights, so instead of doing so in case anyone wanted to use the restroom, it's for anyone that wanted a late-night snack from the kitchen.
After dressing themselves in more casual clothes, they make their way to the dining room, but not before Weiss notices the extra door on the TV's side of the room and taking a picture of the emblem on the door (this being Hedge's room) on her scroll.
The door to the dining room was slightly open, and the girls could hear chatter beyond it, and when they entered, they were shocked to see what was on the table: Eggs (scrambled, over easy, sunny side up), bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, French toast.
RWBY: "Woah." This got the attention of everyone sitting at the table, which was the rest of their group that was brought here, minus Hedge, who was nowhere to be seen.
Qrow: "Hey, was wondering when you girls were going to join us. Did you sleep well?"
Yang: "Like a baby." She took a seat next to Nora, who was eating a bunch of pancakes. "Who made all of this? You, Ren?"
Ren chuckled. "Heh, I wish. No, this was all Hedge that made it. He was here a bit ago, and had some food himself, then he went off to work out in the training room."
Winter: "That was about an hour and a half ago or so," as she took a sip of her coffee.
Weiss: "About that..." as she grabbed some food onto her plate. "Do you all trust him?"
Glynda: "We were talking a little about that before you 4 entered."
Ironwood: "Which was that if he had any ulterior motives then what he has shown us thus far, he would've attacked us by now. As it is, we're all weaponless."
Ozpin: "And while both Schnee siblings can use their semblances without their weapons, and a few of us the same way, it is unsure if we'd all beat him in a fight."
Qrow: "Plus he's got those powerful gems in his possessions. Who knows how powerful he really is if he were to use those."
Jaune: "So we decided to trug along and see what happens, he shrugged.
Pyrrha: "What about you guys?"
Blake: "More or less the same thing we were thinking. The part about the emeralds, he could've wiped us out with them the moment we got here."
Ruby: "Can't you manipulate them with your semblance, Pyrrha?"
Qrow: "What makes you ask that, squirt?"
Ruby: "Well, her semblance is polarity. Maybe she can use it on the emeralds."
Ozpin: "While that isn't a bad idea, I don't think Ms. Nikos' semblance would affect them. Hedge did say they were mystical gems."
Weiss: "What are you saying, Headmaster? Are you implying that they are magical? No need to be rude or anything, but magic isn't real."
Nora: "Oh yeah, then how do you explain us being here in this dimension, which didn't exist before we came here, by the way."
Weiss raised her finger and started to open her mouth to retort, but then realized, she didn't have a counter to that, and resumed eating.
Pyrrha: "That doesn't mean we can't try if it comes to that, but they could also be bio-genetically linked to him. Meaning that even if we take them away from him, he could probably still utilize them."
Qrow: "We'll cross that bridge if it comes to that."
Yang: "Yeah, let's eat, return to the theater room, and he'll provide us with more info."
Unbeknownst to them, Hedge was outside the dining room door, listening in on their conversation, a towel strewn around his neck. He was wearing tank top and basketball shorts.
Hedge: "Believe me, everyone. I have no ulterior intentions of bringing you all here. I hope you understand." He heads off to his room to freshen up for the next chapter of the story.
Later after everyone has eaten and Hedge has freshened up.
Everyone is now seated back on their couches, with Hedge in standing in front of them.
Hedge: "So, I assume you have a lot of questions."
Ozpin: "I think that's putting it lightly, Mr. Badnic. But we are willing to listen to what you can tell us."
Hedge: "You all understand that there are limitations in what I am able to tell all of you, right?"
Glynda: "We'll take what we can get. After that, we'll decide if we want to believe it or not."
Hedge: "I guess that's respectable. Very well." He crosses his arms across his chest. "Just know that the information I'm giving you isn't something that is easy to talk about. What you do with this info is up to you." Everyone looked at each other in case they had second thoughts of learning this information, but no one voiced it. They all turned back to Hedge and nodded in understanding. "Your world as a whole is visible to others as a web series." Of course, this shocked them. What Azure had stated was actually true for them. "Don't be too alarmed, you're not the only ones. There are thousands of other worlds that are viewed like that in a central universe that believe them as fanfiction."
Winter: "Wait, does that mean...?"
Hedge: "Yes, Swift and I are from that central universe. Though, not as 'Hedge.' As it is, Hedge is a persona I created for an alternate universe, or AU, of your world, one where Hedge has his own team. To Swift, I am known as Shadow Drivver, or Drivver. But you guys can still call me Hedge if you'd like."
Blake: "Wait does that mean you aren't really a Faunus?"
Weiss: "And would that be Hedge's emblem on the door there?" She pointed to the door behind him, and showed the picture she took on her scroll.
Hedge: "No, Blake. I'm full human. And to your question, Weiss, yes, it is." He turned around and showed the back of his shirt after taking his swords out of their sheathes. The same emblem that was on the door and in the picture Weiss had was visible on the back of his black shirt. "While I would like to give a backstory of Hedge, we'd be here longer and never get to the next part of the story. For all intents and purposes, the swords here are named Chaos," he referred to the blue sword in his right hand, "and Destruction," he referred to the black sword in his left hand. "And no Ruby, they are not mecha shift." Ruby pouted at that. "Hedge makes up for that with his semblance Electric Chaos, you already know of the teleportation ability, which he doesn't need the Chaos Emeralds to do. With his semblance, he is able to create lightning dust within his body. Every usage of his semblance drains his aura, however these bands," he refers to the yellow bands on his wrists and ankles, "allows him to have less usage of his aura."
Jaune: "That's kind of dangerous, don't you think? I'm assuming stronger abilities use up more aura?"
Hedge: "Correct. But over time, with enough training, he has been able to mitigate the strain of even the stronger abilities."
Ironwood: "So then what does this story have to do with us?"
Hedge: "I was getting to that. This story is an AU as well of your world, meaning events that have happened so far from your world would come up but even future events will too, but they will be altered, so be ready for obvious differences. I'd be happy to implement the actual events that would happen into your minds. Don't worry, at most it would feel like a headache you'd experience. Too much information loaded could end up killing someone."
Qrow: "Yeah, I don't think we'd want that to happen."
Hedge: "Are there any questions? As I stated yesterday, you all still have a choice if you'd want to stay here, or head back to Remnant."
Ruby: "Can we have a few minutes?"
Hedge: "Of course. If you need me, I'll be here in my room. Just yell out when ready." With that, he walks into his room.
Despite still thinking about what was mentioned to them, they were curious how Hedge's room looked, but they didn't get a good look before the door closed. But that didn't matter on the grand scale of things.
Weiss: "So in another world...we're apart of a webseries?"
Yang:"Does that mean, we aren't even real?"
Ruby: "Hey! Enough of that! Everything that has happened of our lives has without a doubt been real. So what if what Hedge said is true, if this story he's showing us will have the future in it, then we now have the power to change it for the better."
Everyone was shocked to hear that from the youngest of them all, but no one was prouder of her than Yang, Qrow, and even Ozpin.
Yang: "That's my little sis."
Qrow: "Heh, she's just like you, Sum. I know you would be proud of her."
Ozpin: "A smaller, more honest soul."
Glynda: "Ms. Rose is right. It is shocking and disturbing knowing that in another world we're viewed through a webseries, but if this story really is an AU of our world, it will probably go over the events that have already happened first, giving more clarity to things in the background."
Blake: "Maybe we'll learn more of what Torchwick and the White Fang were planning."
Jaune chuckled. "I guess that means we're all staying?" He looked at his team for confirmation.
Pyrrha smiled. "If you are, then I am too."
Nora: "You know I'm staying!"
Ren: "Someone has to watch over Nora."
Ironwood: "We've already started. Might as well see this through."
Winter: "I agree, General."
Qrow shrugged. "Eh, beats having to do a mission from Oz."
Ozpin: "You do know I can give you more missions once we return to Remnant because you said that, right?"
Qrow: "But you already know I would do them anyway," he shot back.
Ruby: "Looks like it's settled. We're ready, Hedge!"
Electricity sparkled in front of them, and with a boom of a lightning strike, Hedge reappeared.
Hedge: "I assume you all came to a conclusion?"
Ruby nodded. "We did. We all wish to stay and continue with the story."
Hedge smiled. "Excellent. Then without further ado, let's continue." Hedge walked over to his couch and the TV came to life once again.
AN: A shorter chapter this time around, but that's mainly because of everyone of the Remnant crew understanding that they aren't on Remnant anymore, and are in a new area.
Also they wanted to confront Hedge on who he really is, and that he knew more than he was letting on.
This chapter was more dialogue focused than story focused, and I wanted them to discuss things out first before getting back into the story, which next chapter will be focused on chapter 2.
Speaking of Hedge, yes, he is a persona of me, so that is really me there with him being my appearance to the Remnant crew. But what Hedge is it that is being shown? Is it the past, the present, or the future Hedge from his story? For now, that won't be discussed in this story, so that's why only a synopsis was given of Hedge's abilities. If you really want to know, PM me.
With that said, I'll be quickly moving on to work on the next chapter, then after that, I'll work some more on Hedge's story.
Until next chapter, peace out.
