Finding Ohana
Chapter one: The New Beginning
The sun is shining, the signs of an early spring evident. She then remembers the line her Grandmother said to her once, "Climate change is sometimes misunderstood as being a change in weather. In reality, it is about changes in our very way of life." Her Grandmother, Katie Beale was very wise women strict yet gentle. Oh!! how much she missed her. She huffed and gently start trudging her bag with one hand and one hand automatically goes for her straps of the backpack, clutching it as if it will give her some strength. She slowly walks from the pathway which leads towards the steps to the entrance of the house. She feels like stranger creeping into some random house in spite it has been her safety net for almost her whole life. Now she was dreading this moment. She was debating coming over here from past 2 months, after her Grandmother's death and now actually feeling it while she walked through this stoney front yard path and having no one to welcome her. It hits her hard that she didn't just lose her Grandmother she lost so much more.
She dares to look at her surroundings, both sides of the pathway which was used to cover with green grass now looks like a graveyard, flowers were dead, one of a lamp is broken with several flower pots. She quickens her walk as though it would help her to power through this feeling. She pauses in front of the door, pulls out keys and pushes the door open hastily without sparring glance behind.
The shifting Georgia heat seems to push through the walls of the house. She splashes some water on her face before she wanders through the house. Her Grandmother's house was very spacious, having 12 great rooms itself with equally big open kitchen area, hall with a fireplace in the middle of the front wall, two photos well kept with designer photo frame: one was her Grandmother's wedding photos and other was a family photo. She gently picks that photo and remembers that moment when that photo was taken vividly. Her father Charles Beale thought it would be a great idea of clicking one family portrait to hang on their precious mansion back in LA. So he arranged one photographer (the famous one), her Grandma and Grandpa sitting on a chair in the middle of their backyard dressed very casually while on other hand her mother, father and her older brother dressed like they were going for a business meeting right after the photoshoot. Her other two older brothers and Chloe was nowhere to be found at the time of photoshoot only to be found photo bombing their photoshoot with water balloon fight. The photo was captured accidentally by the photographer when suddenly one balloon came flying towards him landing at his ankles capturing her angry parents, a very amused older brother and her Grandparents in the middle of full-on belly laughing. It was one of her favourite moments although they got one "perfect" photo afterwards and she and her two other brothers get little bit scolding, of course her Grandmother saved them. Afterwards, Katie asked that photographer a copy of his first click and ever since then, this photo is kept here which Chloe thinks it is better than that giant portrait back in her so-called home.
Chloe isn't ungrateful for anything she has. She has everything that any other girl could ask for. She is from the wealthy family her parents own very successful business which Katie started than her only son Charles Beale with help of his wife Darla Beale handled and kept it on a very high point. They have lots of company branches all over LA, New York city etc. slowly spreading through. That's means when the time comes ( that is after completing education) all this business is going under Beale childrens. Charles and Darla both are buisness minded people. They already thought ahead of everything in future along with their kids future. Chloe doesn't want everything to be spoon feed to her, she wants to experience her own failurs, her own success most importantly she wanted to work where she feels like she belongs, where she feels content. That causes disputes between her and her parents. Her parents don't understand her decision of working for others when they got already successful buisness.
Her oldest brother Tyler Beale is an exact copy of her mother. She was never close to him considering huge age differences between them but he decided to join Beale buisness instead of completing his education. So like her parents, he never was much around. Mark is very athletic, good football player he always won best football player for 3 years repetitively back in the college. That all gone when he graduated and joins their business. Scott is very close to her they share same thoughts but Scott respects her parents not like she disrespect her parents but she can stand up for her own needs. She is an exact copy of her Grandmother Katie Beale. Like Katie she is, passionate and hardworking. And maybe Chloe doesn't know what she want to do with her life or what she wants to become but she surely knows what she doesn't want to join family buisness and that's was the reason Chloe failed Russian Literature 3 times in a row she felt more like a home with Bellas then her own family.
When Katie told her she cannot run from her problems, she has to woman up and face it then she finally decided to graduate. Chloe stood her grounds and talked with her parents that leads to huge fight between them, in the end Chloe leaves her so called home and came here. She does not have any money on her but she doesn't care she never need money to be happy. She let her mind wonder what will her katie would say to her right now. Would she be proud of her? She didn't get to mull over it for long exhaustion soon catches her she goes to Katie's room and drifted off to sleep.
Morning rays falls on her face before she groggily opens her eyes slowly grasping for her surroundings. She glances through window and her eyes meets with a very beautiful view of sunrise. She is morning person and have seen lots of sunrises but this sunrise felt different somehow. It gives her hope of better tomorrow, the orange hue circling sun gives her aura, giving her feeling of some energy field. That's how Chloe found herself inspired for the first time in very long time.
