Who We Are

Superman and Wonder Woman and 90's love songs... issa whole vibe

London- Diana Prince's Condominium

Diana looked at the clock again. It was 2 A.M. in the morning and she had only been changing sides in her bed for the past 2 hours. She had a press conference with the League and a Women's Leadership summit in the next couple of hours, but she couldn't get any sleep at all. She couldn't close her eyes. Every time she closed them, she only saw one thing...

"Damn him. How did he do this to me? How did I let him?" Diana questioned with frustration.

Flashback - WatchTower

"When Vic is done with his tower upgrades and rebuilds we are headed out to the football game. Want to join, Wondy?" Billy asked

"Appreciate the offer but I need peace and quiet to rest. Busy day tomorrow."

"Oh. Well...what about you, Big Blue?"

"Gonna have to pass too, Billy, sorry."

"Fine fine...I get it. You two want to spend time alone all smoochy smoochy."

They both looked at him shocked. "No, we're not!"

Billy bursted out laughing. "Sure...sure. Anyways, it's fine."

All of a sudden the tower started to shake and a loud boom.

"Seems like, Vic needs my help. Catch ya, later!"

When Billy flew off and turned the corner, Kal took Diana's hand. Diana looked up at him with a confused look.

"Were you going to stay here for the night?"

"No. I'm going to my place."

The tower shook again then the security alarm went off.

"Vic accidentally set off the alarm. Do we need to help them?"

The alarm turned off.

"No, Vic got it handled," Kal said. "You should get home, Ms. Prince. Maybe I should go with you to tuck you in."

Diana felt her face heat up. "Kal."

A low chuckle met her ears.

"What is it, Diana? I've done it before and watched you sleep." Kal smiled then leaned closer to her and kissed her cheek. "You make cute faces and talk in your sleep when you're really tired."

With wide eyes, she gasped. "You are not suppose to speak of that." She muttered, raising her fist in a threat and she swung at him.

He took the blow to his shoulder.

"Ow. That hurt," he said with a sad puppy dog look.

"No, it didn't," she said raising her brow.

He chuckled again sliding his arms around her waist. Her face intensifying with heat feeling his warm chest she was pressed up against.

His arms tightened around her, and his breath whispering against her ear and neck, which was not helping Diana's thinking processes. She shifted, her cheek brushed against his, and she froze.

For a moment, as their eyes met, everything seemed to slow down and the sound around them seemed to become muted, the only thing she could hear was her heartbeat beating heavily in her chest, its pace picking up.

"Kal..."

"Diana..." He continued huskily against her ear, "I want..." He laughed lowly and another gust of air blew across Diana's neck, causing her to shiver, "...I want to hear you talk about kicking demons and monsters from Tartarus ass in your sleep again." He grinned, his tone changing completely.

Diana blushed laughing quietly. "Stop it. You are so silly."

"I'm glad to make you smile and laugh."

His face moved in closer, his lips hovering over hers.

Diana turned her head away from him. "Its late, Kal..."

"So...let's stay here tonight...together?"

"Then you'll make me late in the morning." She looked at him with a raised brow.

He grinned, running his fingers through her silky tresses. "You're too beautiful for your own good, Di..."

He leaned forward and pressed his lips tenderly against hers.

Before the kiss was deepened, Kal pulled back slightly, his lips hovering over hers again.

"Good night, Diana."

She walked away from him, knowing he hadn't took his eyes off her. She looked back and he indeed was staring with that cocky smirk.

Flashback End

So what were they exactly? Friends? Lovers? That undefined gray area in between? They've never really talked about it. The fumbling touches, the passionate kisses, the unintelligible moans and soft sighs that they shared that one night bled onto other nights. Excuses to be with each other when all the others have gone had been plentiful. They couldn't seem to help it. They couldn't seem to help themselves. They were drawn to each other as celestial bodies responded to each other's gravitational pull.

Diana jumped slightly when her cellphone started to ring.

She gasped and answered immediately.

"Kal?"

"Hey, Di."

"What's wrong? Why are you up? How did you know I was up?"

"Nothing's wrong. But what about you? You said my name and you've been up for a while now."

Diana's heart skipped a bit and fluttered.

"How did...? Nevermind. I was..." Diana sighed. "I was thinking about earlier."

"Just say the word and I'll be on my way."

Diana paused for a moment. Her heart started racing.

"Diana?"

"Yes."

"Yes?"

"Yes..."

"I'm on my way."

30 seconds later, Diana heard a light tap at her patio door. She quickly got out of bed to the door.

She opened the door and saw him leaning up against the side of the door with his charming smile.

Diana turned away from him, leaving the door open. Kal quirked his brow then smirked. He closed and locked the door following her the the kitchen.

As she leaned against the counter, he went behind her and held her frame in his arms.

So, what were you thinking about?"

"I was thinking about us," she replied truthfully.

"What about us, Di?" he asked once again as he kissed her shoulder.

She bit her lip trying to maintain her composure and took a deep breath before turning to face him.

Staring into his eyes, she felt herself drowning in them and somewhere in the back of her mind, a small voice was shouting for her to stop before she waded too far out and was caught by the stream and unable to return to shore. Yet at the same time, she realized that she was way too deep in already and that, if she was honest with herself, she had been for a while.

"I was trying to define our relationship," she explained.

"It seems hard to put in words. I have so many questions but very little answers."

Kal nodded a little at this statement.

"I know we have something special between us," she continued. "You are this constant in my life. We get each other. And there's something I can't put my finger on."

He pondered for a moment.

"Maybe what we have is beyond words," Kal answered with ease, his expression smooth once more.

Beyond words. Diana liked the sound of that.

"So back to my original question. What exactly are we?" she asked curiously, raising an eyebrow.

Kal smiled his charming smile. "We are whatever you want us to be."

Damn his cryptic answers.

Kal's eyes dropped to gaze upon Diana's lips, and subconsciously, her eyes dropped to stare at his, with longing.

"Kal..."

He chuckled, leaning over, drawing her into a tender, lingering kiss, claiming her heart and her soul once again. She closed her eyes, deepening the passionate kiss as Kal peeked his tongue out asking for permission to enter and Diana opened her mouth a moan escaping.

Hands came up in Diana's locks bringing her head closer as if Kal couldn't get enough of her taste. Diana lifted a hand up to touch Kal's cheek.

Kal moved his hands onto her back and clutched her waist desperately.

They eventually broke the kiss and gazed at each other.

"Why it is so easy for you to kiss me like that?"

Kal cupped her chin and gently rubbed his thumb across her bottom lip.

"Can't resist. Soft and beautiful."

Gods, he was so warm and his touch so tempting. A tender expression graced his godly features.

"I would very much like to do it again, if the Goddess permits."

She melted in his arms as he kissed her again. Her arms going to his neck to bring their bodies impossibly closer. She was suddenly hot, it had everything to do with the warm body that was now pressed against her own.

It felt so good. Diana knew she cared for Kal but that feeling had been evolving and escalating all night. But she couldn't let them move too far too fast. Gently, yet firmly, she placed a hand on his chest and pushed him back. She almost regretted it, upon hearing the hardly audible groan at the loss. Her face aflame and heated, she could barely stand to look at his eyes.

She turned slowly walking away from him back to her bedroom. Kal smirked watching her noticing the seductive twist in her hips.

"So should I stay or go?"

She shrugged. "Your choice, Spaceman."

He smirked and in a matter of seconds, was behind her to swoop her up in his arms.

Diana gasped surprised. "Kal! Wha-?"

He kissed the tip of her nose.

"I'm going to tuck you in. Make sure you are warm and comfy."

"You're so..." Diana paused and sighed, laying her head on his shoulder.

Once in her bedroom, he gently laid her down and pulled her blanket over her.

Diana wanted to say something but decided against it waiting to see what he was going to do next. Would he really leave?

She suddenly felt him sliding into bed under the blanket and herself being pulled up to his strong, muscular body. He was shirtless, pantless...only in his boxer shorts.

"You have some nerve, Kal," she whispered, her head against his chest and her eyes still closed.

"You said it was my choice."

She sighed. "You are...relentless."

''Diana…'' he whispered her name softly but yet she can sense a sort of seriousness.

Upon turning her head upwards, she was greeted with She felt her heart pound. Once. Twice. Everything seemed to stop in that moment when she looked into his eyes. Cliché though it was, it felt like looking at him for the first time, looking into the soul that she knew deepdown had accompanied her throughout the ages. His eyes; they didn't only shine with courage and the battles fought long ago. There was love.

As for Kal, the vision of Diana, having her in his arms, breathless for him, in the dim light, is almost his undoing. He looked deep into her eyes and sees a tumult of emotions.

It was true that things were not easy for them, that on one or more occasion they've had doubts to go farther. It's impossible for them. Yet it was moments like this that made it all possible. That this peace and comfort between them now was worth it all, that the way her heart fluttered in her chest was worth everything. He was worth everything to her, as she was worth everything to him.

Staring into his ocean blue ringed orbs, she saw honesty and sincerity. He was kind and he made her feel happy. She could laugh and be herself, felt free and at peace with him.

Kal ran his hands through her raven locks and tucked her hair behind her ear. He kissed her cheek and felt the corners of her mouth tug up in one of her half smiles. He then brushed his lips lightly across the corner of her lips. She nodded and moved her hands around his neck. Her hands tugged at the short of his hair, turning her head just slightly so her lips could meet his in one, longing kiss.

Kal smiled against the kiss, pushing his tongue to her lips for entrance. Diana granted it eagerly.

It would seem like an eternity when they parted, feeling giddy and light-headed.

"You know, Kal," she grinned up at him. "It's not...too bad having you tuck me in at night," she teased.

His face lit up. "I know what you like...what you deserve. I can give you all of that, Diana."

With her heart ready to burst from all the positive emotions, she snuggled into his chest, having her face buried against the crook of his neck. She touched his arm and felt the muscle flex beneath her fingers. He clung to her tightly, with no intent to let go for the rest of the night.

They slept soundly, enjoying the other's company and welcoming their warmth.

Town Hall Press Conference

Superman smiled proudly as he stood beside Wonder Woman as she gave her speech. The pride that he took in stemmed, almost exclusively, from her. She shined, radiating such happiness, such fierceness and confidence, inspiring other women all around the world.

She pushed him be an even better man than he ever could be. Just by the way she would look at him, with such understanding – yes, always understanding – and acceptance of who he was. He knew that, that was the man he wanted to be; to make her proud. She was a Queen, a Goddess...his Queen and Goddess and he wanted to show her he was the only man that could treat her the way she deserved.

"The Justice League is here to help ensure a bright and safe future for all the beautiful children."

There was a roar of applause and whistles of cheers after she finished her speech.

An hour later, WatchTower: Wonder Woman's quarters

Diana has her back turned facing Kal as he helped her zip up her dress.

"Done."

She turned to him with a smile. Kal looked her up and down.

"Gorgeous."

"Thank you, Kal."

He pressed his lips against his forehead.

"I can't wait to see you after the summit."

"Hmm? Do you have something special planned."

"Not particularly. I mean just being with you no matter what we do or where we are, is all the more special."

"Keep dialing up that charm, Mr. Kent."

Kal gently titled her chin up before sliding their mouths together. A shiver of pleasure went down Diana's spine, and she sighed into the kiss, changing the angle of the kiss and parting her lips.

Kal carefully dipped his tongue in to Diana's mouth. It curled around hers in a warm embrace. The pure love and adoration and gratitude in the kiss had Diana's toes curl. She leaned against Kal, reaching out to grip at his upper arm. Kal pulled her closer to his protective hold, tightening his grip on her waist.

When they parted, Diana saw such tenderness in his eyes that made her heart flutter as it always did.

"What time is the summit over?"

"Around 3 or 4. Why?"

"Meet me at Old Fort Marcy Park before the sun sets."

A quiet chuckle and capturing her lips once again in a chaste kiss is his only response at her questionable look with her arched brow.

Hours passed by fairly quickly. Both Kal and Diana anticipated their meeting at the park.

Diana wondered off all places, why would he choose there specifically.

5 PM: Old Fort Marcy Park

Diana reached the park. Thousands of feet above elevation, it was completely tranquil.

Looking out over the beautiful scenery, she sighed lovingly and hugged herself. But then, she suddenly jumped slightly and gasped feeling two strong hands find their way to her eyes and cover them. She relaxed and smiled hearing his voice in her ear.

"Good evening, Ms. Prince."

"Kal, what are you up to?" she asked giggling and his hands, pulling them down.

He wrapped his arms around her waist holding her close to his chest and kissed the back of her head, breathing in deeply the exotic scent of her hair

"Kal?"

"I wanted to go to where the sunset is the most beautiful with the most beautiful woman in the world. This was just the first place that came to mind."

Diana blushed, speechless.

Shades of pinks and oranges blended together as the sun began its nightly descent below the horizon. The simple beginning alone was amazing, pink and orange fading together or streaking the sky alone, but the sight would become even more spectacular as the ritual continued and the sky became splashed with darkening shades of purple and blue.

They gazed peacefully at the steadily darkening sky.

It was something about the swirling colors of the setting sun that they found so magnificent, so…enticing.

"Day and Night comes together for just a moment. Taking each other by the hand, for just a moment, they intertwine..." Diana said.

He kissed her shoulder and laced their fingers together.

The colors were darkening now. Blue and purple joined with orange and pink, the random splashes becoming more defined as they began to melt into darkness.

Slowly the colors faded into the thick purple of the night sky as early stars peeked out to greet the world.

This was one of many of their cherished moments kept tucked safely away in the furthest corner of their hearts Their presence with each other was their comfort.

"You know we can have many more endless moments like this," he said in her ear. "There are so many amazing places around the world and around the galaxy we can travel to together, Diana."

Curious she turned and tilted her head to see his face. His lips immediately pressed on hers gently.

"I love you," he whispered as they parted.

He unlaced their fingers and she turned around to completely face him. She saw all the nameless things between them shining in his eyes.

Kal took one of Diana's hands and placed it on his chest directly over his heart.

"I want to be the man that holds you every night as you fall asleep and wake you up to every morning. The man that protects you and gives you all that you deserve. Whatever happens, whatever comes, know and trust that I will always be right be your side."

"I trust you more than anyone else I've ever known. You are a man of such honor and honesty. There's no hesitation and I can't help myself when I'm with you to be so open and vulnerable. You are the man that I have already given my heart to and I love you, too, Kal."

They both smiled and without any farther words, Kal captured her lips in a searing passionate kiss.

Diana wrapped her arms around his neck and melt into him as Kal possessively wrapped his arms tighter around her waist.

They continue enjoying the rest of their night together with tender loving whispers and sweet promises.
