New Possibilities
The feather light kiss at the nape of Diana's neck tells her many things. It says Kal-El, the love of her life, is awake, that he'd been watching her sleep, and waits for her to join him. For once, she'd actually slept a little longer than what she normally did; they were both a little worn out from the night before. She smiles to herself as she recalls not only the precious family time of chasing their hyperactive one year old daughter around the house, but all the amazing things her husband did to her when it was mommy and daddy alone time. Of course, befitting their reputation, they'd take turns initiating the kinky aspects of their relationship. But, more than that, from the very first time they were intimate, Kal had brought out a provocative side of herself she never knew existed.
Eyes fluttering open, her dark long lashes barely part before she feels those same lips teasing just at the juncture of her throat. Her mouth falls open, letting out a loving sigh. She smirks when his tongue darts along her earlobe until his teeth nip and she moans, rolling over to face him. She presses her hands down on his chest to take control. And he lets her; with a cherisure cat smile on his face.
She leans over, placing a soft kiss on his lips before moving lower to nibble on his neck, slipping a hand under the blanket as she did so. Letting it trail down his chest and glide over his muscular stomach. Her lips move lower, tracing butterfly kisses across his chest. Kal ran his hand through her hair.
"3 hours max," he says with a smile, his voice gravelly with sleep.
Diana looks up at him with a raised brow. "Our daughter would say otherwise being an early bird like her father."
"Our munchkin won't be up for a couple more hours. She had a lot of fun last night with the makeshift forts, having her toys all over the place and playing her favorite game of hide and seek."
"Oh, right...right!" she laughs softly.
"So...let's see what we can do with so much time and I'll start breakfast after our shower," he says kissing her neck. "I just want you just like this for a little longer."
"Of course, my Love." She smiles seductively, lowering her eyes to look lingeringly at his lips before leaning over to kiss him.
He returns her kiss with fervor, threading his fingers through her long hair, his tongue moving languidly against hers.
Their voices are in a low tone whispering naughty and also lovely words. Their names being said in a deep and passionate way every time. They enjoy the closeness of their bodies, the warmness of their skin, the sync of their heartbeats, the heat of their breathes and the pleasurable and loving touch of their hands in each other's bodies.
2 and a half hours later...
In the kitchen, Kal smiles as he starts breakfast, thinking of his wife and daughter. Diana and Astrea is his everything and so much more. The thought of having his own family was nothing more than a passing thought. He thought he could never settle down, no one would nor could understand not only his duty as Superman but his lineage as a man not of earth.
The day he met Diana, was the day his life changed for the better. He knew and felt it deep down in his heart and soul she was the one for him. He regretted letting so much time pass, questioning himself of being worthy of her but just as Diana had taught him, fate has its path and what is meant to be, will be. The world isn't perfect though, the many battles and the Great War they had fought to finally bring the change and sense of peace to Earth and other world across the universe. This was their path together. The right moment for them to focus on building and raising their family.
Meanwhile upstairs...
Diana opens the door to her daughter's room to see her waking up. When Astrea sees Diana at the door, she grins and covers herself with her blanket.
Diana laughs softly. "Hmm? Now I know Astrea must be in here somewhere. I wonder where she could be?" She hears a soft giggle. "Is she here?" She asks opening the closet. "Maybe here?" Looks under the bed. "Oh, what's this? Seems something is under-" She quickly pulls the blanket back. "Here!"
Astrea giggles and jumps into Diana's arms. "Hi Mama!"
"Good morning, Sweetheart!" Diana says embracing her tightly. "Looks like my baby got a good night's rest, right?"
"I seep! And fooffie, too!" she says holding her star plushy.
"Good! Daddy's making breakfast so how about we get you all washed up?"
"Yay! Bakefast!"
Diana smiles. "I know. I love Daddy's cooking, too!"
Diana picks her up taking her to back to their bedroom. Going into the bathroom, Diana seats Astrea down on the counter. She listens to Astrea babbling about her favorite plushies and flying. To hear her little voice made her heart flutter. It still feels so surreal being a mother and wife.
Man's world domestic life, she didn't think would be for her. With the many tales her mother and sisters told her, her prospective was conflicting which all the more made her curious to experience the outside world herself. She was only focused on her mission. Traveling around the world to learn and teach and to bring man's world together along with Themyscira.
But the day she met Kal-El, a man from beyond the stars, a man that could rival Zeus, yet so humbled, trusting and honorable. He became her partner and her best friend. Feelings she never knew and was a bit afraid of harbored within but she knew he was the one man that had captured her heart. A life outside heroics, a love that can be everlasting, a family of her own...the possibility became so close of reach for all these years. When that moment she knew was right to take that leap of faith, she had to take the chance especially being that it was with him. It had been quite a rollercoaster for them both but they've made it through together and will continue on together.
"Okay, my beautiful little Love, all cleaned," Diana says gently wiping her face.
"Bakefast!"
Diana laughs picking her up.
Going downstairs, Astrea inhales deeply. "Coco cakes!" She claps happily. "Dada make coco cakes!"
"Seems like Daddy wants you zipping around the house again like a little hummingbird before noon."
Kal laughs. "I heard that!"
"You know it's true, Mr. Kent."
"But Mrs. Kent, the Princess loves chocolate chip pancakes. It'll level out with her eating fruits, too."
"Dada!" Astrea flew to him embracing him.
"Morning, Princess hummingbird!" Kal says embracing her and kisses the top of her head.
"Dada, I eat all coco cakes and berries!"
"Noted. Pancakes and strawberries, coming right up. And my Lovely wife gets her all time favorite omelette and fruit bowl."
Diana smiles and kisses his cheek. "Thank you, Beloved."
Kal sits Astrea in her high chair and placed her plate down.
Astrea gasp and kicks excited to see the pancakes in the shape of stars.
"Dada make coco cake stars!"
"Yep! Eat up, Princess!"
He turns to see Diana leaning over the counter eating. He smirks, swiftly going behind her and wrapping his around her waist.
"Darling, this is exquisite. Your star shaped pancakes for Astrea are adorable."
He kisses her shoulder. "Anything for my Queen and Princess."
Diana turns her head to kiss him.
"Can't get enough of the sweet taste of you and maple," Kal whispers huskily then kisses her again.
Diana moans in his mouth. "Don't start getting ideas," she teases.
"No promises..." he smirks capturing her lips.
"Mama, Dada! Juice!"
"I'll get it," Diana says.
Kal watches her still with a cocky smirk. She's wearing her beige thigh length silk satin kimono robe, showing off her gracious curves. A true Goddess. His Goddess.
"Here you go, Little Love," Diana smiles handing Astrea her sippy cup.
Astrea grins when she is done and gives Diana back her sippy cup. She raises her arms letting Diana know she's ready to get out of her high chair.
Kal takes Astrea's plate as Diana picks her up to wash her hands.
"Mama, swing and slide."
"Want to go to the park?"
Astrea nods excitedly.
"It is a pretty day."
"What's that?" Kal asks.
"Astrea wants to go to the park."
"Ah, yeah! I was thinking of something for later. We can leave at noon. Plenty of time for hummingbird to zip around and the park is pretty much the halfway mark."
"Hmm? What did you have in mind, Love?"
Kal kisses her softly. "It's going to be a full moon tonight."
"Oh, she will love it!"
2 hours later...
Diana came downstairs wearing a blue floral print strapless bohemian off the shoulder maxi sundress. Astrea on her hip wearing the matching floral print toddler sleeveless romper jumpsuit.
"Wow! Both of you are beautiful," Kal smiles.
"Thank you, Love," Diana smiles back kissing his cheek. She then bites her bottom lip looking at him up and down wearing a beige button down and dark blue jeans. "My rugged Spaceman. Extremely sexy."
Kal grins cockily.
"Da! Fooffie go, too!" Astrea says showing him her plushy.
"Of course, Princess." He kisses her forehead. "You sure you don't want to bring a bag for her? I mean we can stop by somewhere for lunch or dinner before heading to our late night stop."
"I'm sure and we can just do that."
"Dada, Mama, fy!"
"Guess she's tired of the portals or even the SUV?"
"Our hummingbird loves to fly."
Kal, Diana, and Astrea leave their home flying off into the beautiful sunny clear skies.
Metropolis Central Park
"Slide!" Astrea says excited and zips off on her own.
Kal and Diana laughs.
"In an instant, she forgot all about fooffie."
Diana laughs. "It's like a big adventure for her."
As Kal and Diana sit on a nearby bench, Kal places his arm around Diana's shoulder.
"This is so nice and relaxing. This is our life now, watching our baby have fun, being a social butterfly."
"Living our dream, Di." He kisses her temple.
Astrea climbs into the playground tunnel to the window and peeks out to see Kal and Diana. She grins seeing them waving at her.
As she is about to crawl through to the end of the tunnel, she sees a boy a little older with his head down crying.
She frowns and goes to him.
"Hi!" she says.
"Leave me alone..." he sniffs.
Astrea crawls closer and turns her head to try to see his face. "Hi!"
The boy slowly looks up at her with a sad and confused expression.
"No cry. Play!"
"I don't want to. Go away!"
"Play!"
The boy shook his head and more tears ran down his face.
"No cry." Astrea grins and creates a lightening bolt.
The boy gasps. "Magic!"
Astrea giggles.
"I can do magic, too. But it hurts me and others."
"Play!"
"Astrea!" Kal calls.
"Dada..." Astrea crawls to the slide.
"Astrea?"
She looks back for the boy to follow her. "Slide!"
The boy is hesitant but seems to start following her.
"Astrea?!"
"Dada!" She says coming down the slide.
Kal sighs relieved and swoops her up in his arms and kissed her forehead. "Hey, Princess."
"I slide!"
"You did. But took you a while. Mommy and I were getting a little worried."
"Kal? Is she alright?" Diana asks.
"She's fine but the other kid?"
"Da..." Astrea points.
Using his X-ray vision as he did earlier to look through the tube, the boy wasn't there. However, he crawled back to the entrance coming out that way and was with a group of other older boys.
"Leave me alone!" they hear him yell out.
Kal and Diana glance at each other before running over to him. They see him getting pushed to the ground and another boy standing over him, taunting him.
"You're a freak! You thought you could hide away after what you did!"
"Payne is a pain!" they taunt.
"I...I didn't...mean to," he cries curling in fiddle position.
Suddenly, the older boy is grabbed up by the back of his shirt.
"Hey let me-" He pauses and gasps looking up.
"Hey, it's...it's..."
"Superman!"
"And Wonder Woman!"
"You boys should know better," Diana says with a raised brow.
"But he ruined our game and destroyed our trophy!"
"I doubt it was intentional. Even if it was, that still doesn't give any right to try to harm anyone," Kal says.
"But it was! He used his magic powers because he was losing!"
"No I didn't! It was an accident! I don't know how to control it!"
Diana goes over to the boy and kneels to him. He flinches when she touches his arm.
"It's okay, little one."
He slowly relaxes and opens his eyes to look at her. Diana smiles at him.
"I didn't mean to..." he says again.
She can see it in his eyes. He is innocent and confused. Growing up with unpredictable powers developing, Kal and Diana knew this all too well and especially with what they went through with Astrea months before.
Diana pulls him into an embrace. "It's going to be alright."
"No cry," Astrea says, tears welling up in her eyes, glowing of lightening blue. She turns to the other boy. "No mean! Say sowy!"
Diana, Kal and the boys looks at her in shock and awe.
Kal and Diana, immensely proud of their daughter, she reminds them so much of their young selves.
"You heard her," Kal says.
"Sorry..." they all mumble in unison.
"Tristan!? Tristan!?" A woman yell running to them.
"Mommy?" he questions.
"Tristian?!"
"Mommy!" He runs to her, hugging her.
"Oh, my baby boy! You know better than to run off like that! We have been looking all over for you!"
"I'm sorry."
She takes out a tissue from her purse to wipe his tears and the small drop of blood from his nose.
"You have nothing to apologize for. But don't ever run away again. Your father and I are on your side."
"Excuse me?"
The woman gasps looking up to see Diana.
"Oh God! You're Wonder Woman!"
"I...yes, but-"
"Look, whatever Tristian did here, he didn't mean it. I'm sure you know with having special...abilities how hard it can be to control."
"Yes. But, Ma'am, your son did nothing at all. However, it was those other boys who seem to have cause the altercation?"
The woman looks and glares. "Phillip?! Phillip Wheeler, I will have a word with your parents! All your parents!"
"No, Mrs. Payne! Come on, we were just playing around. Right, Tristian?"
Tristain slowly shakes his head.
"Go home, boys. Right now!" She demands.
"Yes, Mrs. Payne."
The boys walk away with their heads all down, mumbling under their breaths.
"Thank you, so much, Wonder Woman."
"Mrs. Payne, please call me Diana and... it was my daughter who made us aware of what was going on."
Kal walks up to them with Astrea.
"Hi!" she says happily.
"Superman! Wow! And oh, she's adorable!"
"No more cry," Astrea tells Tristian. "Play!" she creates a lightening bolt and giggles.
Mrs. Payne is in awe. "She's so young."
"We've had our time not that long ago. We didn't expect her powers to start developing so fast and so early."
"What is his power?" Kal asks.
"He can move things with his mind. This ability was supposedly passed down from his great grandfather."
"Ah." Kal kneels to him. "Hey buddy, I know it's tough. But it's nothing wrong with being different. It's going to take some time but you'll be able to control your powers. It's really cool!" He smiles and ruffles his hair making Tristian smile.
"I can be like you, Superman!"
"The academy I've opened has special programs for gifted children such as Tristian," Diana says. "He doesn't have to transfer, the programs are open either way."
"Really?! I'll have to speak with my husband but yes! Thank you so much. We've prayed for some kind of guidance. The Justice League was truly an inspiration for us all. I've always looked up to the both of you, most of all. Thank you."
"It is our duty."
Mrs. Payne's cell phone starts to ring. "Oh that must be your father. Let's go home and tell him the good news!"
"Thank you, Superman, Wonder Woman and little angel baby."
Tristian and his mothers waves as they walk away. Kal and Diana waves back.
"Say bye to Tristian, Princess."
Astrea grins and waves back. "Bye Tistain! Bye!"
"Ah, Princess! We are so proud of you!" Kal lifts Astrea up in the air.
"Swing, Dada!"
"Okay, we can go swing then how about the duckies?"
"Duckies! Duckies!"
They walk over to the swings.
"Mama and fooffie swing!"
Diana smiles. "Okay, Little Love. Come here."
Diana sits on the swing and Astrea sits in her lap holding her plushy.
"Ready?" Kal asks standing behind Diana.
She nods and Kal reaches out and places his hands on her shoulders, pushing her forward slowly and gently. A big smile came to Astrea's face, seeming to light up all the surrounding area with an even brighter glow than before. Kal smiles continuing to push them; higher and higher each time. Astrea's smile grew and before they knew it she's giggling and then full out laughing with joy.
Kal stops pushing and just watches as they swing back and forth, laughing and having a good time. He thinks quickly to capture this moment taking pictures with his phone. He smiles proudly looking at his beautiful girls laughing. His heaven.
"Mama, see duckies!"
"You want to go now?"
Astrea nods excitedly.
"Okay."
Diana stops the swing and gets up walking over to Kal.
"She's ready to see the ducks."
Astrea sits on Kal's shoulders as he and Diana walks hand and hand.
There is a glow about them; a shining aura. The kind of luminescence specifically akin to the bliss of love.
"Duckies!" Astrea flies off to them.
"Astr-"
"It's okay, Beloved. She is communicating with nature as I did."
Kal nods watching and taking pictures of Astrea petting the ducks as they waddle to her.
"Pweety ducky!" She laughs as they start quacking.
"Oh, look, Kal, a swan!" Diana points.
Astrea gasps seeing the beautiful swan gliding over the waters of the pond.
It's large snow white wings flapping, she lands in front of Astrea.
Astrea slowly puts her arms around the swan, hugging it.
"Oh how sweet!"
"Bye! Bye, duckies!" Astrea waves and flies back to Kal and Diana.
She sits back on top of Kal's shoulders.
"Ready to go Princess?"
"Go fy!" She puts her arms up.
Kal and Diana interlock fingers and hold onto each other's hand tighter as they fly off into the sunset.
Mount Elbert, Colorado
Kal and Diana land on the highest mountain point. They sit with Diana between Kal's legs and her back against his chest.
"Come here, Sweetheart."
Astrea climbs down from Kal's shoulder and sits in Diana's lap. Diana wraps her arms around Astrea hugging her close and kisses her forehead. Astrea grabs Diana's face with her tiny hands and places kisses all over her face making her laugh.
"I love you so much!"
"Loove you!"
"Give Daddy a kiss, too."
Astrea grins reaching for Kal's face. He leans down and she kisses his nose.
"Thanks, Princess!"
"Loove you!"
"Love you, too, Princess."
Astrea turns back around to see the full moon.
"Oohh! Big bight moon! Mama, bight moon!"
"One day, Little Love. Daddy will teach you how to breath in space just like he did mommy."
"We'll have family picnics on the moon and visit different planets. There's so much for us to do, Princess. I promise." Kal then checked his watch and listened closesly. "Look up. This is what I wanted both of you to see."
Diana and Astrea look up to see the meteor shower.
"Ah! Soosh! Soosh! Bight lights go fast!"
"Wow! We haven't gotten to see this in such a long while. It's so beautiful."
After watching the meteor shower, Astrea turns to Diana yawning and snuggling into her arms.
"Nap time. Then a late dinner." Diana gently runs her fingers through Astrea's wild curls.
Kal kisses Diana's shoulder. "Di?"
"Yes, Darling?" She tilts her head to look up at him.
"I was thinking about earlier. How Astrea protected Tristian."
"She's truly amazing. So proud of her being so fearless, knowing right from wrong."
"To me it was more than her being our baby warrior...it was..."
"Like she was protecting a sibling?"
"Yeah..." he sighs. "I don't know. I was just thinking maybe-"
Diana reaches up and kisses him softly. "Yes."
"Yes?" He questions.
Diana smiles. "Yes, my Love."
Kal stares into her eyes then grins.
"Darling, we both grew up as the only child. I don't want that for Astrea. I want our family to continue to grow. I've been thinking about us having more children as well. Astrea is going to be an amazing big sister. More over protective than you," she teases.
Kal laughs. "I really can't even deny that after seeing her reaction today." He wraps his arms around Diana and Astrea tighter. "I still don't want to rush anything. Maybe within the next year or two. What happened with Astrea and the development of her powers, I want us to be prepared. I will not have you or our kids' health put at risk."
For not only Diana but Kal to hear himself say their kids made their hearts flutter.
"I know. It's a lot we have to consider more of now. But, my Love, we are ready for anything that comes our way." Her eyes glimmering with tears and adoration.
"We sure are, Di. In the mean time, we will have lots of practice like this morning," he smirks and wiggle his eye brows.
Diana giggles. "Oh...encore of this morning when we get home is a definite!"
"I love you, Diana, so much."
"And I love you so very much, too, Kal-El."
He leans down again to capture her lips in a tender, passion filled kiss. Their minds whirling with the wonderful possibilities that lie ahead.
