Daddy's Little WonderStar
An in betweener of "The Blessing". Kal let's his nervousness of becoming a Father get the best of him but he has his best friend and the love of his life as well as a happy bundle of joy to show him otherwise.
Apokolips
"You are nothing, Kryptonian!" Darkseid mocked. "You think that you survived out of luck? Your father was nothing more than an arrogant selfish imbecile. He tasked you to keep Krypton's legacy alive. Ha!"
"Shut up! You know nothing of my father!" Kal-El yelled.
He was then punched in the face by Kalibak.
"You will not speak to our Lord!"
"Oh my, my, my…," Maxima said. "You've disappointed the Amazon. Now she lays there weak and hopeless taking her last breaths"
Kal turned to see Diana chained. Her dress torn, her body bruised and blooded.
"Diana?! Let her go, now! You can take me! But let my wife and my daughter go now!"
"Your daughter? Haha!" Granny Goodness laughed. "You think those puny mortals will accept a child such as this? You spent your life hiding among them. Trying to be them! She will never be accepted. She belongs with us now!"
"No! No!" Kal tried to stand up but was kicked back down. He could hear the baby starting to cry. "No! Let her go, damn it!"
"You have failed, Kal-El!" Darkseid declared.
"What have you done, Kal-El?" Jor-El and Lara appeared in front of him. "You were suppose to keep our legacy alive. You were suppose to guide them…lead them to better. You are a disgrace to the House of El."
"As well as a disgrace to the Kent name. You were never truly our son."
"We risked our lives everyday for you but for what reason?"
"Ma?! Pa?!"
"What was I thinking? I could never love you. You are not a man worthy of me."
"Diana?"
All of a sudden everything seemed to be fading. Everyone he had ever loved and the sound of his child's cries…gone. He was left alone in darkness.
"No! I…Diana?! Diana?! DIANA?!"
Kal abruptly sat up in bed breathing heavily.
"Beloved? Beloved, I'm right here," Diana soothed easing up.
"Di?" Kal looked at her.
She cupped his cheek. "Was it the same nightmare again?"
He sighed. "Yeah…"
"Oh, Darling! It's alright!" Diana wrapped her arms around his neck embracing him. "I'm just fine and the baby is having a time kicking up a storm." She took his hand and placed it over her stomach.
Kal sighed relieved and smiled. "She has a strong kick and an even stronger heartbeat."
"3 more months and we get to see our child." Diana tilted her head. "You really believe we are having a girl?"
"Yeah! I can feel it." Kal bent down and kissed her stomach. "Hey, there, my WonderStar."
Diana gasped feeling the baby kick.
"Well…she loves her daddy already!"
"I hope so."
"Kal…" Diana cupped his cheek again. She looked into his eyes and smiled reassuringly. "Darling, that nightmare wasn't real and it never will be. I know that you will always protect me and our child. No harm will ever come to us. That is what you and I fought all those years for. There are still those who oppose us but it's nothing compared to all those years ago. You are the greatest man I've ever known. The man I love and trust with all my heart."
Kal smiled and wrapped his arms around Diana laying her gently back down and kissed her softly.
"I love you, Diana. My heart, my miracle, my cinnamon…" he kissed her again.
Diana laughed breaking their kiss. "You called me cinnamon?"
"Well for the passed 6 months your cravings have been very…unique. You've been wanting cinnamon on everything."
"Not everything," Diana blushed.
Kal chuckled. "Yeah, everything. You had watermelon with cinnamon and sugar, cinnamon on your ice cream, extra on your French toast and your omelettes."
Diana giggled. "I admit, pregnancy has given me some very interesting cravings. But you know I have a particular craving more than anything even before pregnancy?"
"Hmm?"
"You, my Love."
Kal smirked and leaned down kissing her again. Without breaking their kiss, they adjusted to lay on their sides; Kal with his left arm underneath Diana and his right hand on her stomach rubbing gently. Diana caressed his cheek.
"I love you, Diana."
"I love you, too, Kal."
Kal kissed Diana's forehead and watched her drift off back to sleep as he continued gently rubbing her stomach.
A few days later: 10:30 AM- Hessia's doctor's office.
"Vitals are very strong! The baby is already hyperactive."
"I can definitely feel that!" Diana laughed.
"Are you two sure you don't want to know the sex of the baby."
"Not yet. But I already know it's a baby girl," Kal said proudly kissing the top of Diana's head.
"He's very confident."
"I see!" Hessia smiled. "Well 3 more months. Diana, you will still be staying on Themyscira for your third trimester?"
"Yes, Mother is already anticipating my arrival."
"My little Goddess is having her own little one. No matter what you will still be my little Goddess."
"I know, Hessia. Thank you for always being here for me through every step of my life. Helping Kal and I through this journey and soon, help bring our little one officially into the world."
"Yeah, you've given us so much support. I want to thank you, too," Kal smiled.
"I am very proud of both of you."
Later: Clark and Diana's apartment
Kal chuckled to himself seeing that he had cooked Diana fried chicken and french fries with pickles on the side and a chocolate milkshake. Of course she wanted a sprinkle of cinnamon in her milkshake and on the pickles as well as sugar.
He placed the cinnamon and sugar shakers on the tray and picked it up taking it to the bedroom.
"Alright, Di. Food is ready."
"Mmmh! Smells amazing!"
Kal placed the tray in front of her. He made sure she was comfortable sitting up. He then sat on the edge of the bed watching her.
"Are you going to eat, too, Kal?"
"Not now, I just want you to eat and rest." He chuckled as she took a bite of the chicken letting out a soft moan.
"What is it?"
He shook his head and leaned over to kiss her forehead. "Nothing, Cinnamon."
Diana giggled.
After Diana was done eating, Kal took the tray back into the kitchen. Coming back to the bedroom, Diana was already falling back to sleep.
Kal kissed her lips softly. "I'm going to go to the Farm, check up on some things and then go to the cemetery."
"Oh, Darling, did you need me to go with you?"
"No, Di. You get some sleep. I should be back before you wake up again." Kal kissed her lips again.
"I love you, Kal," she mumbled drifting off to sleep.
Kal smiled and kissed her stomach. "I love you, too, Di, and you, WonderStar. Try to take it easy for mommy so she can get some sleep." He kissed her stomach again before quietly leaving out.
Smallville, Kansas: Kent Farm
Kal landed on the front porch of the house. He hesitated for only a second and sighed unlocking and opening the door.
Everything remained the same just as the Kents had it. He made sure of that.
He dusted around the house a bit and swept the porch. He then headed off to the cemetery.
"Hey, Ma, Pa…" he greeted kneeling down touching both tombstones. "I know I haven't came to visit since Diana and I came to tell you she was pregnant. It's been such a rush, these past few months. Diana and the baby is healthy but I still want her to take it easy." He sighed then chuckled. "That's easier said than done with Diana. We will be going to Themyscira, her home island soon for her third trimester. It's much safer and she'll have her mother and sisters watching over her. God, I wish you two could've met her. Could be here for this. Ma, you would love Diana. Pa, I…I understand now what you meant. That indescribable feeling you had for Ma. I know even in the afterlife you still do. That's what I feel for Diana. She is my miracle. I admit, I'm nervous as hell with having a kid calling me Pa soon. You guys made it seem so easy, taking me in without any hesitation, raising me as your own and giving me so much love and joy. You protected me." Kal nodded to himself. "I'm Kal-El of Krypton raised as Clark Kent, the son of Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van and Jonathan and Martha Kent. My kids will know of their grandparents. The Els and Kents will live on through them. Our kids will be proud of all of who they are. Diana surely wouldn't have it any other way. It was her who pushed me to be more open and honest with not only the public but myself. I just want to make you all proud. I'm determined to do my best to be a great father just as you were, Pa. I keep thinking back on those times as a kid, everything you taught me. My kids will know everything you taught me. Thank you, Ma, Pa. I'll come back soon. I'll be bringing Diana and your first grandkid with me next time."
Metropolis: 11 pm - Clark and Diana's apartment
Kal quietly walked in and closed the door.
He went into the bedroom to see Diana up reading.
"Hey Di."
She looked up with a smile. "Hi, My Love."
Kal kissed her softly before sitting on the edge of the bed. "I thought you would be sleep. Are you okay?" He asked.
"Oh, I'm fine. It's just I'm convinced more and more we will possibly have a 2 week old already flying around," she laughed.
Kal chuckled and bent to kiss her stomach. "Hey, Daddy's little WonderStar." He felt a kick. "Practicing flying or training like your mother, huh?"
Diana placed her hand over Kal's. Kal looked up at her.
"You asked me am I okay…but Darling, how are you?"
"I felt them right there with me, Di."
"Oh course, Love. Your parents are always with you." Diana placed her hand over his heart. "Always right here."
Kal placed his hand over hers.
"We had a very long talk. I told them about how nervous I am. The doubts I have had. My nightmare."
"Darling…"
"I know I'm going to stumble and it won't be easy but I'm going to do my damndest for you and our WonderStar."
"Kal-El, my Darling, my sweet sweet Love…you've been in my life for almost 22 years now. And every moment we've been together, I cherish. Those years of dreaming of one day settling down and having a family of my own. It was always you I wanted it all with. I know it was a selfish request before-"
"Diana, no, it was never selfish. We were just…"
"…making things difficult?"
"Uh…well…yeah…"
They both laughed.
"We have always made things difficult for ourselves. Wanting to be together but we believed this life together was impossible. We put so much first setting our happiness to the side. This is what we fought so hard for. It took us a while but that's the journey of life. Nothing comes easy but we've learned so much and that has made it all the better. This is our reward. Ours…together." Diana caressed his cheek.
"I will always be grateful for the day you asked for us to have a child together. It was never a selfish request because I have wanted this with you for so long, too. We just didn't know how to go about it the normal way."
"Nothing we do is ever normal."
Kal kissed her. "Having a 2 week old flying about definitely isn't normal."
Diana giggled. "I can't wait, Love."
"Me neither, Di. We will meet our WonderStar in 3 more months…"
3 and half months later: Themyscira
"Congratulations Diana, Kal, you have a beautiful baby girl."
That was the moment they heard their daughter's first cries. Kal looked at Diana and they both started to cry as the Amazons cleaned her and swaddled her up in a blanket. Queen Hippolyta smiled bringing her back to Diana and placed her on Diana's chest. The second she was in her mother's arms, she quieted.
"She's beautiful," Hippolyta said. "My granddaughter."
Kal couldn't speak. All he could do was stare at the little bundle. She was perfect. His beautiful little princess. Kal reached out a shaky hand and touched her tiny fingers. They were so little. She had a head full of cold black soft silky, curly hair. She also had Diana's facial expression, but Kal's ocean blue eyes.
"What is her name?"
Diana and Kal looked at each other and smiled.
"Astrea Kyra Kent," Diana cooed softly to their perfect little girl.
"Hello, Ma."
Diana looked up at Kal with a smile, "Hello, Pa."
"Astrea," he repeated, looking at the baby and thinking it suited her perfectly.
Diana lifted her in his direction. Kal froze. He was suddenly terrified to hold his baby for the first time.
"It's okay, Kal."
He took a deep breath, slowly and gently taking her in his arms. She was so light, much lighter than he was expecting. He sat down, just to be safe. He couldn't believe how comfortable he felt holding a tiny baby in a matter of minutes.
"Hey, little princess. You are finally here." He lightly kissed her forehead. "I still can't believe I'm holding you right now. It just still feels so surreal. I'm going to teach you all kinds of stuff. Your mom will too. I promise, I'm going to protect you. I'm going to do all that I can for you. Be the best father I can be."
1 week later
Diana was standing on the balcony cradling her daughter and singing to her.
Astrea cooed.
"My happy baby!" Diana kissed her forehead gently. "Daddy is on his way." Diana looked out into the ocean. She gasped. "I see Daddy, Astrea!"
Diana smiled seeing her husband flying toward her. He landed next to her flashing his charming smile.
"How's my girls?"
"Just fine, Love! But it's much better with you here now!"
Kal gently embraced Diana and kissed her passionately.
"I missed you, Di."
"I missed you, too, Love."
Kal looked down to see Astrea looking up at him.
"My little WonderStar...my Princess…"
Diana gently placed Astrea into his arms. Kal kissed her forehead gently and caressed her little cheek with his finger. Astrea smiled and cooed.
"She's smiling, Di!"
"She loves her daddy! Isn't that right, little Love?!"
Astrea cooed and smiled again.
Diana noticed the tears forming in Kal's eyes.
"Oh, Darling…" Tears began to well up in her own eyes as she kissed his cheek.
"She's beautiful, Di."
Diana nodded. "She is and she's all ours."
Kal kissed Diana's forehead and looked back at Astrea not able to stop staring at his daughter, pride filling his heart.
1 year later: Outskirts of Metropolis- Clark and Diana's Residence
Diana was sitting on the sofa watching Astrea going back and forth from playing with her toys to drawing on the large construction paper she covered the floor with for her to draw.
"Bock bock, Mama! It's tall! And I color!
"You stacked them all?! Good Job, Little Love! We are going to show Daddy all your lovely drawings when he gets here."
"Dada come home?"
"Yes, in just a few minutes."
"YAY!" Astrea smiled and teleported into Diana's arms.
"Mama, I say Dada stay. Don't leave. Stay too, Mama."
"Oh, Sweetheart!" Diana hugged her and kissed her all over her face. "Mommy and Daddy aren't going anywhere."
"No, wok! Pay!"
Diana laughed. "Okay…okay…no work. We will have fun all weekend!"
"Yay!" Astrea kissed Diana's cheek.
Just then, Diana and Astrea heard the front door unlocking.
Diana gasped. "Who's that, Sweetheart?!"
Astrea looked at her surprised and giggled. "DADA!"
"Go get him!"
"Dada! Dada! Dada!" Astrea said happily flying off to the front door. "DADA!" She teleported into his arms as he closed the door.
"Woah! Ha!" Kal laughed as he dropped his bag to embrace her. "Hey, Princess!" He kissed the top of her head.
"Dada home now!"
"Yep! I'm home!"
"Mama! DADA HOME!"
Kal looked up to see Diana smiling.
"Hey, Gorgeous!"
"Hey, my Love!"
Kal held out his other arm for Diana. Diana quickly went to him cupping his face as he wrapped his arm around her waist. Diana kissed him deeply.
"Cinnamon, sugar, watermelon and honey added?" Kal smirked.
"Those pregnancy cravings haven't gone away completely."
"That's why you are still my Cinnamon."
"I missed you, Love!" Diana said against his lips.
"I missed you, too!"
Diana kissed him again.
"Yay! Kiss kiss!" Astrea clapped.
Kal and Diana laughed.
"Astrea, tell Daddy what you told me."
"Dada, no wok! Stay and Mama stay!" She frowned and pouted.
Kal chuckled and kissed the tip of her cute little nose. "I can't resist you nor your mother. Both so spoiled."
Diana scuffed. "You did it."
"Yeah…yeah…I did!" He nodded in agreement and kissed the tip of Diana's nose. "Daddy's not going anywhere. I can work from home now only going to the Fortress from time to time. So I get to spend plenty of time with my girls!"
"Really, Kal?!"
"Dada stay?!"
"Yep! Yep!"
Astrea clapped. "Yay! Go fy, pay park, toys, foofie and tv!"
Kal laughed. "Sounds like a plan, Princess!"
"I don't have to go to the Embassy. And the rest of the year's traveling plans, we can all go together. Take advantage for vacation."
"Great!" Kal hugged Astrea and Diana close to him.
"I love you, both, so much!"
"We love you, too!"
"Loove you, Dada!" Astrea kissed his cheek. "Pay wit bocks and colors now!"
"Draw Mommy and Daddy another big beautiful picture, Sweetheart."
"K!" Astrea teleported back into the living room.
Kal wrapped his other arm around Diana pulling her impossibly closer and kissed her neck.
"I got 4 days to make up for," he whispered in her ear as he inhaled the intoxicating alluring scent of her hair.
Diana laughed softly as she felt his hand move farther down to grope her rear.
"I definitely look forward to Mommy and Daddy time."
Kal smirked and captured her lips. Diana moaned in his mouth tightening her arms around his neck. Kal deepened the kiss and tightened his grip still groping her.
"Oh, goodness, Mr. Kent," Diana breathed pulling back slightly. "I guess what I bought will have to wait for another time. I wouldn't be in it for long anyway."
"Sure won't!" Kal wiggled his eyes kissing her again.
Diana squealed and laughed kissing him back.
"Diana, coming home to you and Astrea…I'm the luckiest man in the universe!"
"We are lucky to have you, Kal. I've told you, even before she was born, when she was kicking up a storm to the sound of your voice, that sweet beautiful little girl in there loves her daddy so much. And I love my husband. Remember when you had doubts and nightmares? It's nothing like that at all, Love."
"Yeah, I know…I know… I mean, she's growing into her own. She has her mother's independence and….stubbornness already after all…" he chuckled.
Diana playfully slapped his arm making him laugh.
"But seriously. I know once she hits those teenage years, it's going to be a doozy."
"She's only a year old, Kal. Don't think that far ahead just yet."
"I know, Di. No matter what though, she's going to always be my Princess, my WonderStar. I'm in this moment with the woman I love taking it all in…every second…and locking it away in my heart."
"You are such a romantic!" Diana kissed him once more.
"Mama! Dada! See fower!!" Astrea yelled out from the living room.
Diana took Kal's hand walking to the living room.
"Okay, Princess, let's see that masterpiece!"
"Fower!" She said proudly holding her drawing up.
Diana and Kal were so proud.
"That's beautiful, Sweetheart!"
"Incredible, Princess! Come here!"
Kal picked up her, lifting her up in the air.
Astrea giggled. "Fy! Fy, Dada!"
Kal laughed with her flying up.
"Mama, fy!"
Diana smiled and flew up with them in the middle of the living room. Kal wrapped his arm around Diana's waist, holding her and Astrea close.
"There's nothing better than having my Moon Goodess and my little Wonderstar."
He placed a gentle kiss to Astrea's forehead then kissed Diana softly.
