The soft glow of Utena's phone illuminated her face in the dimness of her bedroom, casting eerie shadows across her violet hair splayed out on the pillow. Outside, the night pulsed with the distant thrum of city life, a stark contrast to the stillness that had settled over Sendai in recent days.
Utena's golden eyes flicked from headline to headline, each one echoing the same sentiment: "Enormita and Tres Magia Vanish - City Holds Its Breath." Her thumb hesitated over the screen, a faint tremble betraying her unease. She scrolled further, each new article a variation on the same theme: "Magical Girl Drought: Sendai's Protectors MIA," "Enormita's Silence: A Lull Before the Storm?"
"A lull before the storm, huh? Yeah you could say that…" Utena sighed as she kept scrolling. There was a storm brewing. The great confrontation between her and Enorme would come eventually. While her wounds from their last encounter had been mended she was now given the time to ruminate on what had happened. She hated Enorme for what she did, but there was fear laced through that hate. Enorme was strong, Gigant was strong, and they had nearly killed her. She had no idea how the next fight would go.
Utena brought a hand to her chest where she felt the ever present warmth of all the mana she had collected over the weeks lay. The ephemeral heat of magic that slowly diffused into her body day by day. Could she do it, could she take them out, stop their reign of terror? She knew she had to try at least. Utena had no illusions that she was a hero, but this city was hers, Tres Magia was hers, and she wouldn't let Enome take those things away from her.
Utena's finger paused as a 'new' headline caught her eye: "Tres Magia's Shameful Secret: Sulfur's Steamy Tryst with Villain?" She snorted, it was old news as far as she was concerned but she supposed it was the biggest story for magical girls in japan outside of discussing the rampant disappearances of magical girl groups. It wasn't as if the outside world was privy to the battle at Nacht Base, or that Tres Magia was currently training their butts off in preparation for a future showdown.
She tapped on the article and the screen filled with a mostly blurred out screenshot taken from the now infamous video. Utena sighed, her cheeks flushing hot as she remembered the heat of that moment, the taste of Sulfur's lips, the feel of her silky blonde hair, the intoxicating scent of her desire. It was a fond memory for her.
"Really, you're blurring it out. Come on, pretty much everyone has seen the full video by now."
She read on anyway, drinking in every salacious detail:
"Two weeks ago Magia Sulfur, the elegant yellow member of Sendai's beloved magical girl trio, was caught on camera in a compromising position with none other than the notorious villain Magia Baiser. The leaked footage, too explicit for publication, allegedly shows Sulfur willingly engaging in a sexual liaison with Baiser.
Experts speculate this scandalous affair may explain Tres Magia's sudden disappearance from the public eye. 'It's not uncommon for magical girls to go into hiding after such embarrassing incidents,' noted Dr. Akira Tanaka, a leading scholar in magical girl psychology. 'The shame of consorting with the enemy, coupled with the betrayal of their teammates, often leads to a period of isolation and reflection for both parties.'
Some fans have taken to social media to express their shock and disappointment. 'How could Sulfur do this to us? To her team?' tweeted user MagiaLover23. Others, however, have shown surprising support. 'The heart wants what it wants,' commented SulfurxBaiserOTP. 'Maybe this will lead to Baiser's redemption!'
As of now, neither Tres Magia nor Enormita have been seen in the field since the incident and the prolonged absence of magical activity in Sendai has people nervous. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any sightings of either magical girls or villains to the proper authorities."
Utena tossed her phone aside with a wry chuckle, her eyes drifting to the window. The city lights twinkled innocently beyond the glass, a sea of ignorant bliss. How little they knew, these ordinary citizens going about their lives, of the true danger that lurked in the shadows.
"Proper authorities… Yeah right."
She rose from her bed, padding silently to the window. Her reflection ghosted against the pane, golden eyes gleaming. Beyond, the skyline of Sendai sprawled out before her, a tapestry of neon and streetlamps, of late-night revelers and weary workers trudging home.
"If only you knew," Utena whispered, her breath fogging the glass. "If only you could see what's coming."
Her mind wandered to Lord Enorme, to the raw power that radiated from her very being. She remembered the cruel curve of Enorme's smile, the malicious glint in her eyes as. Utena shuddered, a chill running down her spine despite the warmth of her room. Fighting Enorme had been unlike anything she had done before.
The people below went about their lives, blissfully unaware of the danger that loomed. They complained about traffic and the weather, gossiped about celebrity scandals and magical girl drama. They had no idea that their entire world teetered on the edge of chaos, that their beloved city was the coveted prize in a game of chess.
Utena's gaze swept over the skyline and remembered how the city looked from above. The towering skyscrapers of the business district, the sprawling parks, the winding river that cut through the heart of the city. How many times had she soared over these streets as Baiser, her heart pounding with the thrill of flight or post battle exhilaration?
A pang of something - protectiveness? possessiveness? - surged through her. This was her city, her playground, her home. The thought of Enorme's corrupting influence spreading through these streets made her blood boil.
Yet, even as anger flared within her, fear coiled in her gut. Enorme's power was vast, her ambition boundless. The last confrontation had left Utena battered and broken, barely clinging to life. Would she be strong enough to face her again?
Utena pressed her forehead against the cool glass, closing her eyes. The constant thrum of the city - car horns, distant music, the whisper of the wind through the streets - washed over her. It was a lullaby she knew by heart, a rhythm as familiar as her own heartbeat.
"They have no idea," she murmured, opening her eyes to gaze once more at the cityscape. She caught a flash of gold, and started back and blinked at her reflection. For just a moment she could have sworn she saw horns and star-like pupils, but as she looked at herself, she appeared normal.
Utena shook her head and sighed. "Must just be my nerves."
She turned away from the window, the eerie stillness of her room settling over her like a shroud. With a reluctant shrug, she picked up her phone again and took a seat at her room's small desk, her fingers flicking through various apps before landing back on the news feed.
One new headline caught her eye: "Shadow Queen of Russia Defeated! Lord Villainess Baba Yaga Falls to Magia Guild's Star Guardians."
Her heart skipped a beat as she tapped on the article, the screen filling with images of a ruined fortress and battle-weary magical girls.
"Early this morning, in a daring assault on the Koshchei Citadel, the Magia Guild's elite Executioner Squad, the Star Guardians, succeeded in bringing down Baba Yaga, the notorious Shadow Queen of Russia. Yaga, who had held sway over Moscow for nearly a decade, was known for her ruthlessness and dark sorcery."
Utena's eyes widened as she skimmed the text. The Magia Guild was no small player in the world of magical girls. Founded by Merlin, the first magical girl. They were an old and long standing organization in the world. Their reach was global and their resources were immense.
"Led by Enforcer Captain Magia Scarlet, the Executioner Squad infiltrated the citadel and engaged Yaga in a protracted battle that left the citadel in ruins. Sources within the Guild report that Yaga's defeat was decisive but costly; several enforcers are currently recovering from severe injuries."
The article went on to describe Baba Yaga's reign of terror, her long history of clashes with various magical girl teams, and the implications of her fall for the future of Moscow. Utena paused at one sentence, reading it twice: "With Yaga out of the picture, the Magia Guild is poised to restore order and stability to the region."
Utena scrolled to the bottom of the article, where a link to a video flashed with a small play icon. "Magia Guild Press Conference: Captain Scarlet Speaks on Baba Yaga's Defeat." Her finger hesitated for a moment before tapping the screen.
The video started with a flurry of camera flashes and the low murmur of a crowded room. A banner in the background displayed the Magia Guild's emblem, a stylized starburst surrounded by hearts. Utena recognized it immediately; once upon a time, she'd dreamed of serving under that very banner as a magical girl.
A tall woman in her thirties stepped up to a podium, flanked by several other women in various states of bandaging. She wore a revealing outfit styled like a dark witch. Black armored thigh highs with heels and accented with gold adorned her long pale legs. A short ruffled black skirt hugged her hips and combined with the skimpy nature of her top showed a swath of toned belly. Her top was black silk with short, ruffled, puffy sleeves and a plunging neckline that showed off a heaving bosom and the bright red lace of a bra peeked out from the sides. On top of her head she wore a large wide brimmed witches hat with that was decorated with a ribbon that held a golden ornament and a bright red Magia heart. The room hushed as she adjusted the microphone. Even through the screen, Utena could feel the gravity of their presence. These were not just any magical girls; they were legends.
"Thank you all for coming," the woman at the podium began. Her voice was steady, authoritative. "I am Magia Scarlet, captain of the Executioner Squad."
Utena's breath caught in her throat. Scarlet was an icon, a figure every magical girl looked up to. She'd led the Executioner Squad for over a decade, guiding them through some of the most perilous missions in living memory. Seeing her speak was like watching history unfold.
"The battle against Baba Yaga was one of our most challenging to date," Astraea continued. "Her dark sorcery and the legions of creatures she summoned tested our limits. We fought hard and sustained significant injuries."
The video cut to shaky handheld footage, perhaps taken from a cell phone, showing scenes of chaos and destruction. Magical blasts lit up a night sky, silhouetting a crumbling and burning fortress. Figures darted and flew amidst explosions; it was pure bedlam.
"The battle at Koshchei Citadel was fierce and unrelenting," Scarlet said, as the video shifted back to the press conference. "Baba Yaga fought with the desperation of a cornered animal and in her desperation, Yaga detonated the magical reserves stored within her castle, attempting to take us with her in a final act of defiance."
The video switched to an aerial view, likely from a news helicopter, showing a massive crater where the Koshchei Citadel once stood. The surrounding landscape was scorched and desolate, a stark contrast to the snow-covered forest that had previously encircled the fortress. Twisted remnants of stone walls and charred timber jutted out of the ground like the broken bones of a giant.
Scarlet's voice overlaid the footage. "We were able to shield ourselves from the worst of the blast," Scarlet continued, her composure unshaken. "But it left us severely weakened. Baba Yaga's reign is over. Moscow will now have a chance to heal and rebuild."
Gasps rippled through the assembled press corps. Utena's eyes widened; she knew what kind of power was required to level an entire stronghold. That the Executioner Squad had survived such an ordeal spoke volumes about their skill and resilience.
Flashes from cameras lit up Scarlet's stern features as she stepped back from the podium. A cacophony of voices erupted, each reporter vying for attention. One voice cut through the rest: "Captain Scarlet, what does this mean for other regions under villain control? What about the reports that some of Baba Yaga's lieutenants were able to escape? What about the rumors that Japan's magical girls have all disappeared?"
Scarlet twitched at the mention of Yaga's leiutenants, but considered for a moment before answering. "The Magia Guild remains committed to supporting magical girls worldwide. Our focus is on creating sustainable peace and ensuring that no region falls into prolonged chaos. Each situation is unique, but we will continue to take decisive action where it is needed. As for those that managed to get away, there is a reward for any information on the individuals in question."
Utena closed the video and leaned back in her chair, lost in thought.
The news of Baba Yaga's fall was staggering. For a moment, Utena simply stared at the now-dark screen of her phone, letting the enormity of it all sink in. Then, as if a switch had been flipped, she sprang from her chair with an excited yelp.
"Oh my god, did you see that?" she exclaimed to no one in particular, though the stuffed animal collection on her bed—replicas of various magical girl mascots—seemed to nod in agreement. "Scarlet is just... wow!"
She paced the small confines of her room, her mind racing and her heart pounding with an almost giddy fervor. "I mean, can you believe how poised she was? How confident? The woman just survived a freaking explosion and she's standing there like it's another day at the office!"
Utena paused, a dreamy smile spreading across her face as she remembered Scarlet's stern features, the way her crimson braid draped over one shoulder. "And she's so beautiful. That kind of mature elegance… It's like she's carved out of marble or something."
Her thoughts drifted to the shaky battle footage, imagining what it must have been like to fight alongside someone of Scarlet's caliber. The raw power, the precise control, the unbreakable will—it all combined to create an image of absolute competence.
"And did you hear her voice?" Utena continued, now speaking aloud again as she flopped onto her bed. "It's like... ugh, it's like hot chocolate for your ears. So warm and commanding."
She grabbed one of the stuffed animals—a blue fox with oversized ears—and hugged it to her chest. "If only I could be half as cool as her," she sighed. "No wonder the Executioner Squad is legendary. With a leader like Scarlet, how could they be anything else?"
For a brief moment, Utena allowed herself to fantasize about being in Scarlet's shoes: leading a squad of elite magical girls into battle, making tough but righteous decisions, earning the respect and admiration of those around her. It was a far cry from her current situation, where even her own identity was a tangled mess.
The fantasy shifted, and now she saw herself not as Scarlet, but standing against her—a rival and enemy. Their battle was legendary, taking each other blow for blow. Each and every touch and strike a tease. She imagined slowly wearing Scarlet down, and then pulled her into a breathtaking kiss...
Utena sat up suddenly, cheeks burning. "Oh jeez," she muttered, running a hand through her hair to compose herself. "Get a grip, Utena."
But she couldn't deny the flush of excitement that thinking about Scarlet had sparked in her. It wasn't just admiration; there was something deeper, more primal at play. She recognized it immediately: desire.
"She's just so... sexy," Utena admitted to herself begrudgingly as she swayed side to side and drew circles on her bed sheets with a finger. "In that untouchable goddess kind of way."
Just as Utena's thoughts began to spiral into increasingly vivid fantasies about Magia Scarlet, her phone buzzed insistently on the nightstand. The vibration sent it skittering across the smooth surface, the screen illuminating with a familiar name: Kiwi.
Utena reached for the device, her heart skipping a beat as she swiped to unlock it. Kiwi's message popped up, accompanied by a flurry of heart emojis:
"Hey there, sexy! Missing your cute face tonight. Whatcha up to? 😘💖✨"
A small smile tugged at Utena's lips as she read the message. Kiwi's boundless enthusiasm was infectious, even through text. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard for a moment before she replied:
"Just catching up on some news. Nothing exciting."
The response came almost immediately, as if Kiwi had been eagerly awaiting it:
"Boooooring! You should be thinking about me instead! 😉 Want me to give you something more interesting to focus on?"
Before Utena could respond, another message popped up. This time, it was a photo - Kiwi, lounging on her bed, wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt that had slipped off one shoulder. Her ash-blonde hair was loose, falling in soft waves around her face, and her wine-red eyes sparkled with mischief. She was biting her lower lip in a way that was both playful and undeniably seductive.
Utena's breath caught in her throat. The room suddenly felt several degrees warmer as she drank in the sight of Kiwi's curves, barely concealed by the thin fabric of the top. She swallowed hard, her fingers trembling slightly as she typed out a response:
"Kiwi... you're going to be the death of me, you know that?"
A string of laughing emojis preceded Kiwi's next message:
"Aww, come on! Don't tell me you don't like what you see? I bet I could make you forget aaaall about that boring news... 💋"
Utena's cheeks burned as she fumbled for a reply. Kiwi's flirtatious nature always left her flustered, a mix of excitement and uncertainty swirling in her chest. Before she could formulate a response, another message came through:
"You know, I've been thinking about you all day. God, Utena, do you have any idea what you do to me?"
The words sent a shiver down Utena's spine, igniting a warmth low in her belly. She could almost hear Kiwi's voice, husky with desire, whispering those words in her ear. Her fingers moved of their own accord, typing out a response that surprised even herself:
"Why don't you show me."
Utena's thumb hovered over the send button, her heart racing. Was she really going to do this? She bit her lip, hesitating for a moment before tapping the screen decisively. The message whooshed away into the digital ether.
Seconds ticked by, feeling like an eternity. Utena's palms grew clammy as she waited for Kiwi's response. Had she been too forward? Too eager?
Her phone buzzed, the screen lighting up with Kiwi's reply:
"Ooh, feeling bold tonight, are we? I like it! 😘 Give me just a sec..."
Utena's breath caught in her throat. She could picture Kiwi now, a mischievous grin playing on her lips as she prepared to fulfill Utena's request. The anticipation was almost unbearable.
Another buzz. Utena's fingers fumbled as she unlocked her phone, her heart pounding so hard she could feel it in her ears.
The image that filled her screen made her gasp audibly. Kiwi had discarded the oversized shirt entirely, leaving her clad only in a pair of lacy black panties. She was posed on her knees, one hand trailing teasingly along her curves while the other held the phone for the selfie. Her ash-blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders, partially obscuring her breasts but leaving just enough visible to set Utena's imagination on fire.
"Like what you see?" Kiwi's message read beneath the photo. "Because there's plenty more where that came from... if you want it. 😉"
Utena's fingers trembled as she stared at the image, her breath coming in short, shallow gasps. Kiwi's curves seemed to glow in the soft lighting, shadows accentuating every dip and swell of her body. The lacy edge of her panties rode low on her hips, revealing a tantalizing glimpse of her lower abdomen. Utena's eyes traced the line of Kiwi's collarbone, down to the swell of her breasts, barely concealed by her tousled hair.
"Oh my god," Utena whispered, her voice hoarse. She shifted on the bed, suddenly acutely aware of the heat building between her thighs. Her free hand unconsciously moved to her chest, fingers brushing against her hardening nipples through the thin fabric of her tank top.
Another message popped up: "Cat got your tongue? Or are you just... distracted? 😘"
Utena swallowed hard, forcing her brain to form coherent thoughts. "Kiwi, you're... you're incredible," she managed to type out, her fingers clumsy with desire.
"Mmm, I'm glad you think so," came the swift reply. "Want to see more?"
Before Utena could respond, another image appeared. This time, Kiwi had turned away from the camera, looking coyly over her shoulder. The curve of her back was a graceful arc, leading down to the generous swell of her ass, barely covered by the lacy black panties. One hand rested on her hip, fingers toying with the waistband in a silent promise of what lay beneath.
Utena's breath hitched. She could almost feel the softness of Kiwi's skin under her fingertips, and could almost taste the salt of her sweat. Her mind raced with possibilities, imagining what it would be like to trail kisses down that elegant spine, to grip those hips and pull Kiwi close.
"God, Kiwi," Utena typed, her hands shaking. "You're driving me crazy. I want..."
She paused, unsure how to continue from there. I want to touch you? I want to taste you? I want to make you scream my name? All of the above felt true, yet somehow insufficient to capture the depth of her desire.
Kiwi's response came quickly: "Oh? And what exactly do you want, Utena? Tell me. In detail. 😈"
Utena's cheeks burned as she considered her reply. Her usual shyness warred with the raw need coursing through her veins. Finally, throwing caution to the wind, she began to type:
"I want to feel your skin against mine. I want to run my hands all over your body, to trace every curve and dip. I want to kiss you until we're both breathless, then work my way down your neck, your chest..."
Utena's fingers flew across the screen, her inhibitions melting away as she poured out her desires. She described in vivid detail how she longed to caress Kiwi's breasts, to tease her nipples with gentle flicks of her tongue. How she wanted to trail kisses down Kiwi's stomach, nipping playfully at her hips before settling between her thighs.
As Utena typed, her own arousal built, a delicious tension coiling low in her belly. She shifted on the bed, pressing her thighs together in a futile attempt to alleviate the ache building there. Her free hand wandered, ghosting over her own body as she imagined touching Kiwi.
Just as Utena was about to hit send on her steamy message, her phone buzzed with a new text from Kiwi:
"Oh, Utena... you have no idea how much I want all of that too. But..."
Utena's heart skipped a beat. But what? She held her breath, waiting for Kiwi's next message.
"But I think we're going to have to put a pin in this for tonight, honey buns. 😘 As much as I'd love to keep this going, we both need our beauty sleep. You're still recovering and I won't stand for you overdoing it, even if I want you to overdo ME. 🍆🍩 "
Before she could respond, another message from Kiwi popped up:
"Don't pout, sweetie! I promise I'll make it up to you tomorrow. In person. For now, how about we both get some rest."
Utena couldn't help but smile, even as frustration simmered beneath her skin. The abrupt end to their steamy exchange left her feeling wound up and unsatisfied.
"You're such a tease," Utena typed back, adding a playful emoji to soften her words. "But...you're right. We should get some sleep." 'Or at least you should, I don't think I'll be able to sleep for another couple of hours…"'
"That's my girl," came Kiwi's swift reply. "Sweet dreams, Utena. And don't worry - I'll give you plenty of material for those dreams in the future. 😘"
One final image popped up on Utena's screen: Kiwi, now wrapped in a silky robe, blowing a kiss at the camera. Her eyes sparkled with mischief and promise
Utena stared at the final image of Kiwi for a long moment, her heart still racing and her body thrumming with unfulfilled desire. With a frustrated groan, she flopped back onto her bed, phone clutched to her chest.
"Sweet dreams, she says," Utena muttered to the ceiling. "As if I could sleep now."
She closed her eyes, but all she could see was Kiwi - the curve of her hips, the swell of her breasts, the teasing glint in her wine-red eyes. Utena's hand drifted down her body, ghosting over her stomach and coming to rest at the waistband of her pajama shorts.
For a moment, she considered relieving some of the tension herself. But something held her back - a mix of lingering shyness and the desire to save that energy for their promised reunion tomorrow night.
With a sigh, Utena rolled onto her side, curling around one of her stuffed animals. She tried to focus on something, anything other than the heat still pooling low in her belly. Her eyes landed on her desk, where a framed photo of Tres Magia sat.
Kaoruko and Magenta and Azul smiled back at her from behind the glass.
"I miss you girls," she whispered to the empty room.
The familiar chime of her phone echoed through Utena's room, shattering the silence. She reached for it, expecting another call from Kiwi. Instead, she was surprised to see Kaoruko's name flashing on the screen. Her heart pounded in her chest as she answered. "Kaoruko?"
"Hey," Kaoruko's voice came through the speaker. "Couldn't sleep?"
"Yeah, you too?" Utena asked, trying to keep her tone casual.
There was a pause before Kaoruko replied: "Training with Magenta and Azul is going well. It's tough but I can feel myself getting stronger every day."
Utena smiled at this, imagining Kaoruko training with their fellow magical girls. "You always were a fighter."
Kaoruko chuckled lightly on the other end of the line. "Azul even mastered a new water technique that's pretty impressive." There was a pause before she added softly, "But... I'm more worried about you. How are you holding up?"
Utena could hear the genuine concern in Kaoruko's voice and it warmed her heart. "I'm okay," she said softly, "Much better thanks to a certain golden-haired magical girl."
She could almost hear Kaoruko blush over the phone at her flirtatious comment.
"Flatterer," she retorted playfully but quickly turned serious again: "But seriously, are you eating properly? Getting enough rest?"
"I'm doing my best," Utena reassured her, touched by her concern.
There was a brief silence before Kaoruko spoke again: "Just... be careful, okay? I couldn't bear it if anything happened to you."
Utena felt an ache in her chest at those words. She swallowed hard before replying: "I will be careful," she promised.
"You should be careful too." Utena added. "Don't push yourself too hard in training."
Kaoruko laughed softly at that, her voice sounding tired but warm. "You know me better than that," she said. "I'll push as hard as I damn well please. I have to be your Hero, after all."
"That's my spitfire," Utena replied fondly.
As the night wore on, their conversation ebbed and flowed between updates on their situations and words of encouragement. Eventually, Utena could hear the fatigue creeping into Kaoruko's voice.
"You should get some sleep," she suggested gently.
"Yeah, you're right," Kaoruko replied with a yawn. There was a pause before she added: "And Utena?"
"Yes?"
"I love you. Never forget that."
Utena's heart soared at those words: "Kaoruko... I'm really proud of you, training so hard. You will be an amazing hero."
Her words hung in the air, heavy with sincerity and affection. She could almost picture Kaoruko on the other end of the line, her cheeks flushing a delicate pink, her golden hair falling in waves around her face as she ducked her head in embarrassment.
"I... I..." Kaoruko stammered, her usual bravado faltering in the face of such earnest praise. Utena could hear her swallow hard, could imagine the way her slender fingers would be twisting the hem of her shirt nervously.
"Uhh... "
"Aaaa..."
"Mm..."
A grin spread across Utena's face as she listened to the blonde try and piece herself back together. That was one thing she adored about Kaoruko. She was an amazing and ferocious fighter full of courage, but a little love, a little intimacy and she just melted into a puddle, it was so so cute.
The voice that finally came through was small and shy. "Thanks... Dummy," she said, but there was no heat in the words. Instead, they were laced with affection and gratitude. "How can you say such embarrassing things so easily?"
Utena chuckled softly. "Because they're true," she said simply.
There was a moment of silence, broken only by the sound of Kaoruko's shaky breathing as she tried to compose herself. When she spoke again, her voice was steadier, though still tinged with shyness.
"Thank you, Utena," she said quietly. "For believing in me. For... for everything."
The words were simple, but Utena could hear the depth of feeling behind them. She smiled, even though Kaoruko couldn't see it.
"Always," she replied. "Now get some sleep, my hero. You've got more training to do tomorrow."
"Right," Kaoruko agreed, a hint of her usual fire creeping back into her voice. "Goodnight, Utena."
"Goodnight, Kaoruko," Utena said softly. "Sweet dreams."
Utena let her phone drop and looked at the clock by her bed, 11:48, almost midnight. She still didn't feel sleepy despite the late hour.
She sighed and rolled onto her back, staring up at the ceiling. Sleep seemed like a distant possibility, her mind still buzzing with thoughts of Kiwi, Kaoruko, and the looming threat of Enorme. She closed her eyes, trying to will herself into relaxation, but images kept flashing behind her eyelids - Kiwi's seductive poses, Kaoruko's determined voice, Scarlet's commanding presence.
With a frustrated groan, she sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. If sleep wasn't going to come, she might as well do something productive.
'I can't wait for tomorrow, I feel...hungry.'
—
The weekend arrived with a burst of golden sunshine, as if nature itself was celebrating Utena's recovery. Kiwi practically bounced down the sidewalk, her ash-blonde twin buns bobbing with each energetic step. Beside her, Korisu walked with measured grace, a far calmer presence to the older teen.
Kiwi's heart raced as they approached Utena's house, a mix of excitement and nervous energy coursing through her veins. She fidgeted with the sleeve of her oversized cardigan, then the skirt she wore. She pulled her t-shirt out and looked down into her cleavage to assess the lacy dark green bra she was wearing. She couldn't help but wonder if she should have worn something else.
'Should I have been more daring or less daring? Uuuggggg… This is probably fine right?' Her wine-red eyes darted between the front door and Korisu, seeking reassurance.
"Do you think she'll be happy to see us?" Kiwi asked, her voice a mix of hope and anxiety. "I mean, I know she's better and all, but..."
Korisu's bright red eyes flicked up to meet Kiwi's, a flicker of exasperation passing through them as she frowned at the other girl. She sighed, a silent admonishment before pinching Kiwi. The moment of pain cut through Kiwi's anxious thoughts and babbling like a knife through butter.
Kiwi yelped and flushed with embarrassment. She let out a long, drawn-out sigh, her shoulders slumping as the tension drained from her body. "You're right, you're right," she mumbled, running a hand through her ash-blonde bangs. "I'm being dumb. Of course she'll be happy to see us. She's probably been going stir-crazy cooped up in bed since yesterday."
Gathering her courage, Kiwi reached out and rapped her knuckles against the front door. For a moment, there was silence, and then the muffled sound of footsteps approached from within.
The door swung open, revealing Kana Hiiragi, Utena's mother. Her warm gold eyes lit up with genuine pleasure at the sight of the two girls on her doorstep. "Kiwi! Korisu!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with affection. "What a lovely surprise! Come in, come in!"
Kana ushered them inside, the scent of freshly baked cookies wafting through the air. Her long, violet hair - so similar to Utena's - was pulled back in a loose ponytail, a few strands escaping to frame her face. She wore a flour-dusted apron over a comfortable sundress, giving her the quintessential image of a doting mother.
"Utena will be so pleased to see you both," Kana continued, oblivious to the weight of recent events. "She's been feeling a bit under the weather since yesterday, poor dear. I'm sure having you two visit will cheer her right up!"
Kiwi and Korisu exchanged a quick glance, a silent agreement passing between them to maintain the illusion of normalcy. They followed Kana into the living room, the familiar and comforting surroundings were a stark contrast to the turmoil they had all experienced in recent days.
Kana gestured for the girls to make themselves comfortable on the plush sofa. Sunlight streamed through the lace curtains, casting dappled shadows across the hardwood floor.
"Oh, it's just wonderful to see you both again," Kana gushed, her eyes twinkling with genuine delight as she settled into an armchair across from them. "Utena's always been so quiet, I was really starting to worry. But ever since she met you, Kiwi, it's like she's blossomed!"
Kiwi felt her cheeks grow warm, a mix of pride and embarrassment coloring her face. She grinned and rubbed the back of her head. "Awe shucks Mrs Hiiragi…"
Kana leaned forward, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "You know, I really was starting to fear she'd be alone forever. My sweet, shy Utena... always lost in her daydreams about those magical girls." She smiled softly, shaking her head. "But look at her now! A girlfriend and a close friend. It's more than I could have hoped for."
The older woman's gaze settled on Kiwi, her expression softening with maternal affection. "And such a cute girlfriend at that!"
"Ehahaha! Thanks Mama Kana!" Kiwi said with a laugh as she preened under the praise.
Kana's warm smile widened as she looked between Kiwi and Korisu. "Well, I won't keep you girls any longer. I'm sure you're eager to—. The older woman was cut off when the sound of footsteps on the stairs caught her attention.
Utena appeared in the doorway, her violet hair slightly disheveled and her golden eyes wide with surprise. She wore a loose-fitting t-shirt and pajama shorts, looking every bit the part of a girl recovering from "illness". But Kiwi could see the tension in her shoulders, the way her eyes darted between them and her mother.
"Kiwi? Korisu?" Utena's voice was soft, a hint of uncertainty coloring her tone. "I didn't know you were coming over."
Kana beamed, oblivious to the undercurrents of tension. "Oh, isn't it wonderful, dear? Your friends came to cheer you up!" She stood, smoothing down her apron. "I'll go fetch those cookies from the oven and make some tea. You three catch up!"
As Kana bustled out of the room, Utena's posture relaxed slightly. She moved to sit between Kiwi and Korisu on the sofa, her movements careful and measured.
Without thinking, Kiwi reached out, her fingers gently brushing against Utena's arm. "How are you feeling?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Utena's golden eyes met Kiwi's wine-red ones, a flicker of vulnerability passing through them. "I'm... okay," she murmured. "Still a bit sore, but better than yesterday."
Korisu leaned in, her bright red eyes intense as she studied Utena's face. Her hand moved to rest on Utena's knee, a silent gesture of support and concern.
Kiwi felt a lump form in her throat as she took in Utena's appearance. Despite the healing magic, there were still faint shadows under her eyes, a pallor to her skin that spoke of the ordeal she had endured. The urge to wrap Utena in her arms, to shield her from any further harm, was almost overwhelming.
"We were so worried," Kiwi whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "When we saw you in that bed, I thought... I thought..."
Utena's expression softened, a small, sad smile tugging at her lips. "I know," she said softly, reaching out to take Kiwi's hand in hers. "I'm sorry for scaring you."
The moment was interrupted by the cheerful humming of Kana as she returned, bearing a tray laden with freshly baked cookies and steaming cups of tea. The scent of vanilla and cinnamon wafted through the air, mingling with the earthy aroma of the tea.
"Here we are!" Kana announced, her smile radiant as she set the tray down on the coffee table. "I hope you girls enjoy these. It's a new recipe I've been wanting to try."
Kiwi's eyes lit up at the sight of the cookies, their golden-brown edges promising a perfect balance of crisp and chewy. She reached out, carefully taking the tray from Kana with a grateful smile. "They look amazing, Mama Kana! Thanks so much."
Korisu nodded in agreement, her bright red eyes fixed on the treats with barely concealed enthusiasm. She rose gracefully from the sofa, moving to stand beside Kiwi.
"Oh, you're too kind," Kana laughed, waving off the praise. "Now, why don't you girls take these upstairs? I'm sure Utena would be more comfortable in her room."
Kiwi and Korisu exchanged a quick glance, a silent agreement passing between them. With gentle determination, they turned to Utena, who still sat on the sofa looking slightly overwhelmed.
"Come on, Utena," Kiwi said, her voice soft but insistent. "Let's go upstairs. You can show us that new manga you were telling me about last week."
Korisu nodded, extending a hand to help Utena up. The violet-haired girl hesitated for a moment before accepting, allowing herself to be pulled to her feet.
"Alright," Utena agreed, her golden eyes darting between her friends and her mother. "Thanks for the cookies, Mom."
Kana beamed, watching as the three girls made their way towards the stairs. "Have fun, dears! And Utena, don't overexert yourself, okay?"
They reached Utena's room, a space that had become both sanctuary and shrine to Tres Magia. Posters of the magical girls adorned the walls, their bright colors a cheerful contrast to the weight of recent events.
Kiwi carefully set the tray of cookies and tea on the desk, her movements measured and deliberate. The familiar scent of jasmine from Utena mingled with the aroma of freshly baked treats, creating an oddly comforting atmosphere. For a moment, the room was silent save for the soft ticking of the clock on the nightstand and the muffled chirping of birds outside.
Then, as if a dam had broken, Kiwi whirled around and all but launched herself at Utena. Her arms wrapped tightly around the violet-haired girl's waist, nearly knocking them both onto the bed. Kiwi buried her face in the crook of Utena's neck, her body trembling as the floodgates of emotion burst open.
"U-Uteeeeenaaaaaaa!" Kiwi sobbed, her voice muffled against Utena's skin. "I was so scared! When I saw you lying there, all broken and bloody, I thought... I thought I was going to lose you!"
Hot tears spilled from Kiwi's wine-red eyes, soaking into the fabric of Utena's t-shirt. Her fingers clutched desperately at the back of Utena's shirt, as if afraid she might disappear if she let go. The scent of Utena's shampoo - a delicate blend of lavender and vanilla - filled Kiwi's senses, grounding her in the reality that Utena was here, alive and warm in her arms.
Utena stiffened for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden outburst. Then, slowly, her arms came up to encircle Kiwi, holding her close as the shorter girl's body shook with sobs. She stroked Kiwi's ash-blonde hair, her touch gentle and soothing.
"Shh, it's okay," Utena murmured, her voice soft and reassuring. "I'm here. I'm okay."
Kiwi's grip tightened, her words tumbling out in a rush between hiccupping sobs. "I felt so useless! Everyone else could help - Sulfur, Magenta, Azul, even big Alice. But I couldn't do anything! I just had to sit there and watch and hope and... and..."
Her words dissolved into incoherent babbling as she clung to Utena, her body wracked with sobs of relief and joy. "I'm just... you're okay... I can't... Uuuutewaaaaaa... I love you so much... I thought... I couldn't... you're here..."
Slowly Utena helped Kiwi to the floor and sat with her. A click of a door closing drew her attention. Korisu had closed the door and now silently approached, her bright red eyes shimmering with a mix of concern and affection. Without a word, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around both Utena and Kiwi, completing their embrace.
Utena felt herself relax into the embrace, surrounded by the love and care of her two closest friends. The scent of Kiwi's fruity perfume mingled with Korisu's subtle floral fragrance, creating a comforting aroma that filled Utena's senses.
"I... I don't know what to say," Utena finally managed, her voice thick with emotion. "I'm sorry for worrying you both. I never meant to get hurt so bad or cause you so much pain."
Kiwi hiccupped, her sobs gradually subsiding into sniffles. "Don't apologize, you dummy," she mumbled against Utena's chest. "We're just so happy you're okay. We love you so much, Utena."
Korisu nodded in agreement, her arms tightening around them both. A single tear slipped down her cheek, landing silently on Utena's shoulder.
The three girls sat there, locked in their embrace, as sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over them.
Utena felt a warmth blooming in her chest, a feeling so intense it was almost painful. She was overwhelmed by the love surrounding her, the depth of care these two girls held for her. She smiled and held them. 'I really did worry them, didn't I? I have to make sure that doesn't happen again.'
Stuck between Kiwi and Korisu, Utena found herself unable to move. Their embrace was warm and comforting, but as Kiwi's sniffles continued, Utena felt a growing need to offer her some tissues. Her golden eyes darted to the low table near them, where a box of tissues sat just out of reach.
Utena's brow furrowed in concentration, eyes closed as she tried to figure out how to extricate herself without disturbing the delicate balance of their group hug.
As Utena's focus remained on the tissue box, something stirred within her. A tingling sensation rippled down her spine, a familiar yet still strange feeling. Unbeknownst to her, a slender dexterous, tail of dark violet leather materialized behind her, its tip adorned with a spade.
The tail moved seemingly with a mind of its own, snaking out from behind Utena and reaching towards the table. Its movements were fluid and graceful, like smoke curling through the air. The heart-shaped tip split and opened like a little mouth that dripped with sticky fluid.
Utena, still distracted by her friends' embrace and her own swirling emotions, didn't notice the tail's actions. It coiled around the tissue box and brought it over, before settling it gently in her lap.
The sudden weight in her lap startled Utena, breaking her out of her reverie. She blinked in confusion, her golden eyes widening as she looked down to see the tissue box nestled between her and Kiwi. For a moment, she stared at it, her mind struggling to process how it had gotten there.
A flicker of movement caught her eye, and she turned her head just in time to miss seeing her tail dissipate, fading away like mist in the morning sun. She cocked her head to the side and looked around for a moment.
Pushing aside her confusion and the implications of her unconscious use of her powers, Utena focused on the task at hand. She gently pulled back from the embrace, just enough to create some space between them.
"Here, Kiwi," Utena said softly, her voice filled with tenderness as she offered the tissue box. "You should dry your eyes."
Kiwi looked up, her wine-red eyes puffy and still shimmering with tears. She blinked in surprise at the sudden appearance of the tissues, but gratefully took one, dabbing at her eyes and nose.
"T-thanks," Kiwi hiccuped before blowing her nose.
Korisu's bright red eyes narrowed slightly as she glanced between Utena and the tissue box, a flicker of curiosity passing over her usually stoic features. She said nothing, but her gaze lingered on Utena for a moment longer than usual.
As Kiwi dabbed at her eyes, Utena felt a twinge of guilt. She gently cupped Kiwi's face in her hands, her golden eyes filled with a mix of affection and remorse. "I'm so sorry for worrying you both," she murmured, her thumb gently brushing away a stray tear from Kiwi's cheek. "I promise I'll be more careful from now on."
Kiwi leaned into Utena's touch, her wine-red eyes still watery but now shining with love. "You better be," she mumbled, a hint of her usual spunk returning to her voice. "I don't think my heart can take another scare like that."
Korisu nodded in agreement, her hand coming to rest on Utena's shoulder. The gesture was small, but it spoke volumes coming from the usually reserved girl.
Utena felt a lump form in her throat, overwhelmed by the depth of care these two girls held for her. She had always been a loner, lost in her daydreams about Tres Magia. But now, surrounded by the warmth of Kiwi and Korisu's affection, she realized just how much her life had changed.
"I... I don't know what I'd do without you two," Utena admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "You've become such an important part of my life. I never thought I'd have friends like this."
Kiwi's eyes widened, a fresh wave of tears threatening to spill over. "Oh, Utena," she breathed, throwing her arms around the violet-haired girl once more. "We feel the same way about you. You've changed our lives too, you know?"
Korisu nodded emphatically, her usual stoic expression softening into a small but genuine smile. She leaned in, resting her forehead against Utena's temple in a rare display of physical affection.
The three girls sat there for a moment, basking in the warmth of their shared bond. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden glow over them, as if nature itself was blessing their friendship.
After a while, Kiwi pulled back, wiping the last of her tears away with a determined swipe of her hand. Her wine-red eyes sparkled with renewed energy as she glanced between Utena and Korisu.
"Okay, enough of this sappy stuff," she declared, her voice taking on a playful tone. "We came here to cheer you up, Utena, and that's exactly what we're going to do!"
Kiwi sprang to her feet, her twin buns bouncing with the sudden movement. She planted her hands on her hips, striking a dramatic pose as she surveyed Utena's room.
"Alright, ladies! Operation Cheer Up Utena is officially underway!" she announced, her voice filled with exuberant determination. "First order of business - comfy clothes and snacks!"
Utena couldn't help but giggle at Kiwi's antics, the sound light and carefree. It felt good to laugh, to feel the tension of the past few days melting away in the presence of her friends.
Korisu raised an eyebrow, her bright red eyes twinkling with amusement as she watched Kiwi bustle around the room. The blonde girl was already rummaging through Utena's closet, pulling out an assortment of soft pajamas and oversized sweaters.
"Here!" Kiwi exclaimed, tossing a bundle of clothes at Utena. "Put these on. Nothing says 'comfort' like fuzzy socks and a hoodie that's three sizes too big!"
Utena caught the clothes, her golden eyes widening in surprise. "But I'm already in pajamas," she protested weakly, even as her fingers curled into the soft fabric of her favorite hoodie.
Kiwi wagged a finger at her, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "Ah-ah! No buts! Trust me, changing into fresh comfy clothes will make you feel a hundred times better."
Korisu nodded in agreement, already slipping off her dress to change into a pair of pajamas she brought with her at Kiwi's behest. She moved with quiet efficiency, her long blonde hair cascading down her back as she pulled the shirt over her head.
Utena felt her cheeks warm as she watched her friends change so casually. Despite everything they had been through together, there was still a part of her that felt shy about such things. But the easy comfort Kiwi and Korisu displayed was infectious, and soon Utena found herself joining in, shedding her old clothes for the fresh, cozy outfit Kiwi had picked out.
As they changed, Kiwi continued her self-appointed mission, arranging pillows and blankets into a cozy nest on Utena's bed. She hummed softly to herself, her mind utterly focused on her sacred duty.
"Now for the snacks!" Kiwi declared once they were all changed. She bounded over to the desk where the tray of cookies and tea still sat. "Mama Kana's cookies are amazing, but I think we need more variety. Utena, where do you keep your secret stash?"
Utena blinked, momentarily thrown by the question. "My what?"
Kiwi rolled her eyes playfully. "Come on, everyone has a secret snack stash! You know, for late night cravings or emergency comfort food. Where's yours?"
Utena's cheeks flushed pink as she realized what Kiwi meant. "Oh, um..." She hesitated for a moment before moving to her desk and pulling open the bottom drawer. Inside was an assortment of candy bars, chips, and other treats.
"Aha! I knew it!" Kiwi exclaimed triumphantly, diving into the drawer with enthusiasm. She emerged with an armful of snacks, her wine-red eyes sparkling. "Perfect! Now we have a proper feast."
Korisu watched the scene unfold with quiet amusement, her bright red eyes tracking Kiwi's exuberant movements. She moved to help, gathering the tea cups and cookies from the tray Kana had brought up earlier.
Soon, Utena's bed was transformed into a cozy nest of pillows and blankets, surrounded by an impressive array of snacks and treats. The three girls settled in, Utena nestled between Kiwi and Korisu, all of them wrapped in soft blankets.
"There," Kiwi said, satisfaction evident in her voice as she surveyed their setup. "Now this is how you do a proper cheer-up session."
Utena couldn't help but smile, warmth blooming in her chest as she looked at her friends. "Thank you," she said softly, her golden eyes shimmering with emotion. "Both of you. This means more to me than I can say."
Korisu responded by leaning her head on Utena's shoulder, a silent gesture of support and affection. Kiwi, never one for subtlety, threw her arms around both of them, pulling them into a tight group hug.
"That's what friends are for, silly," Kiwi said, her voice muffled against Utena's hoodie. "Now, what shall we do first? Movie marathon? Gossip session? Ooh, we could play truth or dare!"
Utena laughed, the sound light and carefree. "Something fun and lighthearted would be nice."
Kiwi snuggled in closer, burying her face in the soft fabric of Utena's oversized hoodie. She inhaled deeply, letting the familiar jasmine-like scent of her girlfriend wash over her. It was a scent that had become synonymous with comfort and safety in her mind - the essence of Utena herself.
The warmth of Utena's body, the softness of the blankets cocooning them, and the sweet aroma of cookies mingling with Utena's natural fragrance created a bubble of tranquility around them. Kiwi felt the last of her anxiety and fear melt away, replaced by a profound sense of contentment.
"Mmm," Kiwi hummed, her voice muffled against Utena's chest. Her wine-red eyes fluttered closed as she basked in the moment. The gentle rise and fall of Utena's breathing, the steady thrum of her heartbeat - it all served to remind Kiwi that Utena was here, alive and well.
A swell of emotion rose in Kiwi's chest, threatening to overflow. She tightened her arms around Utena, pressing impossibly closer. "I love you," she whispered, the words barely audible but filled with an intensity that made them ring clear in the quiet room.
With gentle fingers, Utena cupped Kiwi's chin, tilting her face upwards. Their eyes met - gold melting into red - and in that moment, the world seemed to fall away. There was only Kiwi, her ash-blonde hair slightly mussed, her cheeks flushed, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears and boundless affection.
Utena's gaze dropped to Kiwi's lips, slightly parted and inviting. Without conscious thought, she leaned in, drawn by an invisible force. Their lips met in a soft, tender kiss that sent sparks of electricity coursing through both of them.
The kiss was gentle, a delicate exploration of newfound intimacy. Utena's lips moved against Kiwi's with hesitant curiosity, savoring the softness, the warmth, the faint taste of strawberry lip balm. Kiwi responded eagerly, her fingers curling into the fabric of Utena's hoodie as she pressed closer.
Time seemed to stand still as they kissed, the afternoon sunlight casting a golden glow over them. The world outside faded away, leaving only the two of them in their cocoon of blankets and shared warmth.
When they finally parted, both girls were slightly breathless, their cheeks flushed and eyes bright.
Utena rested her forehead against Kiwi's, their breaths mingling in the small space between them. Her golden eyes searched Kiwi's wine-red ones, taking in the mix of joy, love, and lingering vulnerability she saw there.
"I love you too," Utena whispered, her voice soft but filled with certainty. The words felt right, natural, as if they had been waiting on the tip of her tongue for this moment.
Kiwi's eyes widened, a fresh wave of tears welling up. But these were tears of happiness, of relief, of a love reciprocated. She opened her mouth to speak, but found herself at a loss for words. Instead, she surged forward, capturing Utena's lips in another kiss, this one more passionate than the last.
As they kissed, Utena became acutely aware of Korisu's presence beside them. A pang of guilt shot through her - in the intensity of the moment with Kiwi, she had almost forgotten about their quiet friend. She pulled back from the kiss, her cheeks flushed with both exertion and embarrassment.
"Korisu, I-" Utena began, turning to face the blonde girl. But her words died in her throat as she met Korisu's gaze.
Korisu's bright red eyes were wide, her usually stoic expression replaced by one of wonder and longing. There was no jealousy or hurt in her gaze, only a deep, unspoken desire. She leaned forward slightly, her long blonde hair cascading over her shoulders.
Utena felt her heart skip a beat. Without thinking, she reached out, her fingers gently brushing against Korisu's cheek. The blonde girl leaned into the touch, her eyes fluttering closed for a moment.
"Korisu," Utena murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "Come here, you're part of this too."
Korisu's eyes snapped open, a mix of surprise and joy flickering across her face. She surged forward, closing the distance between them. Her lips met Utena's in a kiss that was both tender and desperate, as if she had been holding back this desire for far too long.
Utena melted into the kiss, her hand sliding into Korisu's silky blonde hair. The taste of Korisu's lips, the softness of her touch - it was different from Kiwi's, more innocent, but no less intoxicating.
As they kissed, Utena felt Kiwi shift beside her. For a moment, she feared that Kiwi might feel left out or hurt. But then she felt Kiwi's arms wrap around her waist from behind, the shorter girl's chin resting on her shoulder.
"You're both so beautiful," Kiwi murmured, her voice filled with affection. She pressed a soft kiss to Utena's cheek and held her close.
Utena's heart swelled with emotion as she found herself caught between Korisu's tender kiss and Kiwi's warm embrace. The love and acceptance radiating from both girls was overwhelming, filling her with a profound sense of belonging.
As Korisu slowly pulled back from the kiss, Utena turned her head to meet Kiwi's gaze over her shoulder. The ash-blonde girl's wine-red eyes were shimmering with unshed tears, but her smile was radiant.
"Is this... okay?" Utena asked softly, her golden eyes darting between Kiwi and Korisu. "I mean, all of us... together like this?"
Kiwi's smile widened as she nuzzled against Utena's neck. "More than okay," she murmured. "It feels right, doesn't it? The three of us, we belong together. Three bad girls against the world."
Korisu nodded in agreement, a rare smile gracing her features. She reached out, her fingers intertwining with Kiwi's where they rested on Utena's waist. The gesture spoke volumes - acceptance, affection, unity.
Utena felt a lump form in her throat, overwhelmed by the depth of love surrounding her. She had spent so long feeling alone, lost in her fantasies about Tres Magia. But now, wrapped in the arms of these two incredible girls, she felt truly seen and cherished for who she was.
"Thank you," Utena whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
Kiwi responded by pressing a soft kiss to Utena's cheek, while Korisu leaned in to rest her forehead against Utena's. For a long moment, they stayed like that, simply basking in the warmth of this moment of peace.
Eventually, Kiwi broke the silence. "Well, I'd say Operation Cheer Up Utena was a smashing success!" she declared, her usual exuberance returning. "Though I have to admit, this wasn't quite what I had in mind when I suggested we come over."
Utena couldn't help but laugh, the sound light and carefree. "I think it's perfect," she said, her golden eyes sparkling with joy. "I couldn't ask for anything better than this - being here with the two of you."
Korisu nodded in agreement, a soft smile playing at her lips. She reached for one of the forgotten snacks, offering it to Utena with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh! Right, the snacks!" Kiwi exclaimed, as if suddenly remembering the feast they had prepared. She disentangled herself from Utena, but only enough to reach for a cookie. "We can't let all these tasty treats go to waste, can we?"
Utena laughed softly as she accepted the snack from Korisu. "You're right, we shouldn't, not after all your effort setting this up."
The three girls settled back into their cozy nest of blankets and pillows, nibbling on cookies and sipping tea. There was a new intimacy between them now, a comfortable closeness that felt natural and right. Utena found herself nestled between Kiwi and Korisu, their warmth enveloping her on both sides.
As they snacked, Kiwi's exuberant chatter filled the air. She regaled them with amusing anecdotes from her old school, her hands gesticulating wildly as she spoke. Korisu listened quietly, a small smile playing at her lips, occasionally adding a soft comment or observation.
Utena basked in the simple joy of the moment. The afternoon sunlight streaming through the window cast a warm glow over them, and the scent of cookies and tea mingled with the familiar jasmine-like fragrance of her room. For now, thoughts of Enormita, of battles and danger, seemed far away.
"Oh!" Kiwi exclaimed suddenly, her wine-red eyes lighting up. "I almost forgot! We brought something for you, Utena."
She scrambled off the bed, nearly tripping over the blankets in her haste. Utena and Korisu exchanged amused glances as Kiwi rummaged through her bag.
"Aha!" Kiwi emerged triumphantly, holding a small, gift-wrapped package. She bounded back to the bed, presenting it to Utena with a flourish. "Here you go! A little get-well present."
Utena accepted the gift, her golden eyes wide with surprise. "Kiwi, you didn't have to-"
"Of course I did!" Kiwi interrupted, waving away Utena's protests. "Now open it!"
With careful fingers, Utena unwrapped the gift. Inside was a delicate silver charm bracelet. Each charm was a tiny, intricate representation of a magical girl item - a wand, a tiara, a heart-shaped locket. But what caught Utena's eye was the centerpiece: a small, violet-colored heart charm.
"It's beautiful," Utena breathed, running her fingers over the charms. "Thank you, Kiwi."
Kiwi beamed, her cheeks flushing with pleasure. "I'm glad you like it! I saw it and immediately thought of you. And look-" She pointed to the violet heart. "It matches your hair!"
Utena felt a lump form in her throat, overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of the gift. She held out her wrist, silently asking for help to put it on.
As Kiwi fastened the bracelet around Utena's wrist, Korisu leaned in, her bright red eyes studying the delicate charms. Without a word, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small velvet pouch.
Utena and Kiwi watched curiously as Korisu carefully opened the pouch, tipping its contents into her palm. A small, golden charm in the shape of a doll tumbled out, catching the afternoon light.
Korisu held up the charm, her eyes meeting Utena's. There was a question in her gaze, a silent request for permission. Utena nodded, understanding immediately.
With nimble fingers, Korisu attached the golden doll charm to Utena's new bracelet. It nestled perfectly between the other charms, as if it had always been meant to be there.
"Oh, Korisu," Utena breathed, her golden eyes shimmering with emotion. "It's perfect. Thank you both so much."
Kiwi clapped her hands together, her wine-red eyes sparkling with delight. "Now it represents all three of us!" she exclaimed. "The magical girl stuff for you, the doll for Korisu, and the violet heart for me!"
Utena felt her heart swell with affection for her two friends. She held up her wrist, admiring how the charms caught the light. Each one was a tiny reminder of the bond they shared, a physical representation of their connection.
"I love it," Utena said softly, her voice thick with emotion. "I'll treasure this."
Impulsively, she leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to Kiwi's cheek before turning to do the same for Korisu. Both girls blushed at the gesture, their eyes shining with happiness.
As Utena settled back against the pillows, she felt a profound sense of contentment wash over her. The weight of recent events, the looming threat of Enormita, the complexities of her double life as Baiser - all of it seemed to fade away in this moment of pure, simple joy.
Here, surrounded by the warmth and love of Kiwi and Korisu, Utena felt truly at peace. The charm bracelet jingled softly as she moved, a gentle reminder of the precious bond they shared.
"So," Kiwi said, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled over them. "What should we do now? We've got snacks, comfy clothes, and loads of time. Any ideas?"
Just as Utena started to consider her options, her phone began to ring. She picked it up as Kiwi grumbled.
"This better not interrupt our cuddle time."
Utena smiled. "It's probably just a roboca- Oh, it's that Nemo girl."
