Okay guys I'm working on this story again, I plan to get it finished by Christmas eve at the latest. Am writing the last chapter and editing the others as we speak. Finally getting this shit done and believe me I'm happy for it, its been too long, and I read these stories too. More than you guys im sure, so here is the revised chapter one.

Mario and Luigi were putting up the lights for Christmas onto the side of their roof. Luigi held the ladder while Mario put the lights up onto the house. Their breath showed clear as the sun on their skin as they worked. Well more like Mario worked, he was on top of the ladder putting the lights on after all.

"Boy I can't wait to see the looks on the Toad's faces when they see our house bro!" Luigi Said enthusiastically, a big smile plastered to his face, the usual lush, green kingdom was now white and covered in snow. Mario and Luigi wore cotton sweaters that were thick and warm, they were made of fur but the animal it came from was unknown. They also wore their signature colors, red and green. They had thick gloves on and wool caps under their hats

"Yeah sure look, can you focus on holding the ladder bro, I don't feel like falling into the snow." Mario calls from the top of the ladder to his brother, not even so much as looking at him as he worked on getting those Christmas lights up. They went back to the Mushroom kingdom and got more lights to do so.

"Yeah, I am Mario I'm just saying, this is going to be the Mushroom Kingdom's first Christmas! I bet it's gonna be the best Christmas ever!" He happened to smack the ladder, making it wobble thus Mario nearly fell off. He just barely saved himself as he grabbed the roof and held onto it with all his might.

"Darn it, Luigi I almost fell because you're fooling around!" Mario shouted angrily at his brother.

"Sorry bro I'm just excited is all", Luigi called up sheepishly, smiling up at him.

"That's fine but control yourself until I finish will ya?" Mario said with a sigh, he couldn't stay mad at him, he was excited too after all.

"I'm not making any promises but I'll try my hardest."

"Don't try, just do it, if I fall you're finishing the job," Mario said harshly as he continued working on the lights.

Luigi went a little pale with this statement, Luigi was deathly afraid of heights, up on ladders, they were just too unstable. "Right, I'll be sure to pay attention," Luigi said nervously at this.

"Good idea," Mario said with salt in his voice as he went back to work.

"You think Daisy might be able to make it? I know she's a princess too and has her own duties but–"

"LUIGI!" Mario yelled angrily at him.

"Oh, right sorry bro," he said sheepishly, Mario rolled his eyes as he lost his patients, Luigi continued to hold the ladder as Mario got back to putting the lights up. The front door creaked open and Yoshi came out looking surprised.

"Yoshi?" Yoshi said, curiosity in his voice, it was in his eyes too, he had on a large jacket over a sweater and poofy pants on too.

"Oh, Yoshi you're up! We didn't wake you did w–"

"Luigi, focus." Mario said with bitterness in his voice.

"Calm down bro I've got the ladder, do what you gotta do up there already, I feel like getting some food out tonight ya know, after all the work we've done tonight and–"

"We? Luigi, you haven't done a thing!" Mario snapped at him, not even the slightest bit amused, how could he say 'we' with a straight face?! Did he really think holding the ladder counted as work?!

"Mario bros, Mario bros!"

Both brothers looked behind them to find a blue Toad running toward them waving a letter back and forth.

"Oh, look Mario, a Toad." Luigi said looking curiously at the cute little Mushroom man running towards them.

"I hear him bro, is he holding a letter?" Mario asked without turning his head to look.

"Yeah, it's a pink one, must be from the Princess, could she have gotten kidnapped?"

"Don't be a mook Luigi, Bowser only kidnaps her on Fridays, it's Monday," Mario said, annoyed by such a stupid question.

"Well it could be from someone else, it's happened before."

"Doubt it, "Mario said casually, still focused on the lights, the Mario brothers had a routine set in place in the mushroom kingdom and they had yet to have to step away from that routine. Part of that routine was Peach was always, always, ALWAYS kidnapped on Fridays, no matter what.

Toad was quick to make it over to the brothers waving the letter at them, "this is sent by the princess! Here, Green Mario."

"Green Mario? My name is Luigi!" Luigi said clearly insulted, he nearly let go of the Ladder but stopped himself at the last minute.

"Oh, it is? Sorry about that Luigi, I'll try to remember next time."

"It's fine, here bro, Luigi tried giving it to Mario."

"I'm kind of busy bro, Toad help me help you and read the letter to me." Mario said as he continued working on the lights.

"Right! Ahem" He snatched the letter from Luigi and ripped it open and thus began to read.

"I send this letter as a cordial invitation for you, the Mario brothers, to come to my castle tonight. Dinner is to be provided in honor of you and your bravery in saving the Mushroom Kingdom for over eight months. There will be much food and festivities in your honor.

Yours truly -

Princess Toadstool

Peach"

"Wow hard to believe that we've been away from home for so long ain't it bro?" Luigi said thoughtfully, a bit of homesickness in his heart.

"Yeah sure, just as long as you hold the ladder straight for me bro." Mario said, not actually seeming to care too much about it.

"Did you even hear a word he said?" Toad asked, annoyed at being ignored, he did ask him to read it after all, why ask if you're not even gonna listen?

"Yeah, yeah, invite, food, eight months, being here, got it." Mario said enthusiastically.

Luigi looked at Toad and shrugged.

"Uh, Mario, what are you even doing?" Toad asked.

"Setting up Christmas lights, oh and do me a favor and tell the princess that the Mario bros won't be making it tonight."

"What?! Toad asked, horrified by Mario daring to refuse the princess, "but why ever not? All the food and cake and–"

"FOOD?! CAKE?! MARIO! FOOOD!" Luigi yells ecstatically.

"No, we gotta cut down our tree." Mario stated firmly, he sounded like he wasn't about to be swayed any other way.

"Why are you cutting down trees, Mario?" Toad asked.

"To put in our house, not that it's your business of course."

"Actually, it is my business," Toad stated in a blunt tone.

"Excuse me?" Mario asked as he stopped and stared at Toad.

"The trees of the Mushroom Kingdom are the sole property of the princess and her bloodline, and no one else. You'll be committing a felony by cutting even the smallest most pathetic one down, which leads to serious punishments if not given permission. As a resident of the Mushroom Kingdom's and one of her personal messengers. It is my civic duty to report such atrocities to her highness before they happen if at all possible. Of course, if you come tonight perhaps you can bring it up to her and receive a permit to do so."

Mario sighs. "Fine, we'll go tonight; does it have a time?"

"Oh yes let me look here hmm… ah yes, eight o'clock sharp."

"Fine, please tell the princess we'll be there." Mario said annoyed at having to go to the stupid party.

"No need Mario, she already expects you, see you tonight," Toad then ran off back to the castle.

"Yeesh, so much for going tree hunting am I right bro?"

"No worries we'll be at it tomorrow bro!"

"If we're lucky, we need to kiss up to the princess and get her approval first," Mario said with a heavy eye roll at this.

"Oh, don't be so rude about it, she's a nice lady!"

"Yeah but all the trees in the mushroom kingdom? Are you kidding me?"

"She's a monarch, get over it, bro."

Mario grunted as he finished putting up the lights. "I say we did pretty good today considering I didn't fall even once."

"Yeah, this place is way better than Brooklyn, remember how hard it was putting those lights up?"

"Yeah especially when those punks tore them down an hour after I got them up, EVERY YEAR, Mario snarled, looking like he was about to strangle someone. A vein popped out of his neck as he made a strangling motion with his hands, let's change the subject, I'm getting angry." Mario said as he got off the ladder.

"Right, then let's go get ready for tonight," Luigi said as they walked back inside.

"But it's not even four Luigi," Mario said, taking his warm clothes off to reveal a regular sweater underneath.

"You got any other ideas?" Luigi asked.

Mario looked around and sighed, "no I guess not, fine, I'm showering first though."

"You do that, I'll iron another pair of clothes for tonight for the both of us."

"Don't burn em like you did last time."

"That's because I was talking to you and got distracted."

"Whatever, try not to talk to Yoshi and get distracted bro, I'll be out of the shower in a bit bro." Mario said sarcastically as he walked up the stairs to the bathroom.

"Okay, I'll be here when you're done." Luigi said unfazed by his brother's sarcasm as he set up the ironing board.
