Here's chapter three! Years later lol. Im determined to get this story done by December 25th. Hope you enjoy.
Mario and Luig walked home, their breath showing up in the air in front of them, they were freezing and holding themselves tightly, as they trudged through the snow to their humble home. They walked up the path which Mario had shoveled earlier; he wasn't joking when he said Luigi didn't do anything. He fumbled with his keys trying to find the right one, the only light he had though was the moonlight.
"I got it bro, Luigi said and opened the door, it's so nice being able to leave the door unlocked right bro?" Luigi said to Mario.
"Darn it Luigi, stop forgetting to lock the door!" Mario snapped angrily, this was the third time he told Luigi to lock the door and he was either Forgetting or blatantly refusing to do so. He had told him numerous times that there were thieves in the Mushroom kingdom, and just because it wasn't as bad as Brooklyn didn't mean they should leave the door unlocked. Bowser was another reason to not leave the door unlocked, he was petty and might send some goons to rough the place up.
Luigi looked surprised at this, "I didn't-" he started but was cut off by Mario as he continued ranting.
"And stop making excuses, it's childish!"
"Sorry…."
"Yoshi!" Yoshi cried in joy at seeing his master's home at last. It was warm inside the home and yoshi was sitting in the chair reading a book when they came in, his reading glasses on and everything,
"Hey buddy", Luigi said, taking his gloves off and walking over and patting him on the head, Yoshi was nice and warm to the touch as he pushed his head into his hand.
"Mario rolls his eyes, are you even listening to me?"
"Yeah, leave the door unlocked, sure."
"No, I said leave it locked, stop ignoring me!"
"Sorry bro."
"No you're not, listen Luigi, if someone steals our stuff you're replacing it all, don't forget we have some of Ma and Pa's stuff too, that can be stolen, which can't be replaced!"
Luigi looked alarmed at this, "you're right I'll leave the door locked."
"You better, I'm going to bed," Mario said and walked to the bed which was a bunk bed. The bottom was Mario's bed with blue bed sheets and a thick red comforter with a big white M on it. The top was Luigi's, it was the same but the comforter was green and had an L on it and got in.
"So am I", Luigi said, getting into his bed,
"Yoshi!" Yoshi said happily as he got into his dog bed in the corner of the room and they all went to sleep.
Mario was sound asleep, dreaming of pasta, cake and the days of his childhood with his family, when suddenly a loud aggressive beeping was heard, "WAAAHAAHHAHAHAHAAA!" He screamed at this, his heart racing a million miles a second when he looked around it was only an alarm. He grit his teeth, "DANG IT WHAT THE HECK?! I NEVER SET AN ALARM!" He yelled now angry.
I did bro, Luigi said, he was dressed and making breakfast, Mario's clothes were ironed out and ready to be put on. Yoshi was up helping set the table and cook as well, apron and chef's hat on his head, Luigi got it for him because he thought it was adorable on him, Mario couldn't deny it looked good on him. "We gotta meet the princess at eight today, remember?" Luigi said.
"Yeah yeah I remember", Mario said, getting out of bed and heading to the bathroom room, "I'm taking a shower."
They got ready and ate breakfast and put on extra layers of clothes. They then walked out and walked off to the forest near the castle. They found Peach, Daisy, and Toadsworth along with a dozen royal guards there, Peach smiled and waved at them as they walked.
"Hello Mario, Luigi, good morning." Peach said, Peach wore a pink fur trimmed trench coat and pink cossack and thick white fur gloves and fur boots. Her cheeks were pink from the weather and her breath appeared before her like everyone else. Daisy wore Similar but yellow and white trim, Toadsworth just wore twenty sweaters and a jacket, he couldn't even put his arms down.
"Mornin Peach", Mario said casually.
"Hey Peach", Luigi said with chattering teeth. He was freezing still despite the extra clothes.
"Oh Luigi you're freezing", she snapped her fingers, guard's, coat, now.
One of the guards gave her a pink sparkly coat and Peach gave it to Luigi.
He sighed, "thank you, Peach."
"Of course", she said sweetly, she turned to Yoshi, she gave a big smile to him, "good morning, I've been waiting to meet you for a long time." Peach said.
"Yoshi!" He said with a smile and a wave.
"Hey Daisy!" Mario said with a wave.
She smiled, "sup Mario," she said with a smile.
"Hey Daisy!" Luigi said, with a big smile.
"Hey," she said to Luigi with less enthusiasm.
Luigi frowned sadly at this.
"So where is everyone else?" Mario asks.
"Oh they should be out here soon enough," Peach said, "now, how exactly do we do this Christmas tree decorating?"
"Well I'm glad you asked Princess, I have a box of ornaments here and I'm going to hang them on the trees." Peach delicately took one out of the box and examined it.
"Hmmm.. how did you get this string?"
"I just went to the silk shop and got some."
"Interesting, I like the way you think," she looked at the ornament and one of her trees and quickly caught on. She slid it onto the tree branch and backed away. "Hmm, this is how we do it, right?"
"Yep!" Mario took one and put it on the tree, Daisy took one and put it on the tree as well.
"So we just put a bunch of stuff on the trees and that's that?" Daisy asked.
"Basically yes."
"This doesn't seem like fun," Toadsworth said.
"Well, I would be doing this in my house but-" Luigi elbowed him, he glared at Luigi and turned his gaze back to Toadsworth, "this is kind of a human thing Toadsworth."
"I for one love the idea of doing this," Peach said as she took another. "Although…what essentially can be an ornament, and what can't?"
"Well…"
"Anything can be an ornament!" Luigi said.
"No Luigi," Mario said, annoyed.
"Anything?"
"Yep!"
Peach looked at her glove and took it off and put it on the tree.
Mario face palmed, "dang it Luigi…"
Peach looked at Mario, "what?" She asked, confused.
"Luigi's wrong Peach, don't listen to him," he's an idiot.
"Hey!"
"Oh? Well what can go on a tree?"
"Anything!" Luigi said annoyed.
"No-"
"Remember that time I put the fork in the tree when we were eight?"
"Ugh yes and you're an idiot for doing it!"
"Well what normally goes into trees then?" Peach asked.
"Garland, ornaments."
"Garland?" Daisy asked.
"Ooooh yeah that is a better idea", Luigi said with a smile
"I know, I came up with it," Mario said.
"Hm, well, it certainly would look better than random things, okay if garland sometimes goes into trees, then garland we shall put!" She said gleefully as she waved her hands about and a large pile of flowers grew right under their feet. Including daisies growing at Daisy's feet.
She smiled a big stupid grin. "Alright! Now things are getting interesting", she said with excitement.
"Guards!" Peach said in a commanding tone.
"Princess!" All of her guards said at once.
"Help us make garland out of these flowers."
"Yes princess!" The guards immediately began aggressively twirling the flowers together, making garland, "come on everyone join in, the sooner we get it done the sooner we can get the kingdom ready for Christmas!"
She turned to one of her guards, "Tod."
"Princess!"
"I have a special mission for you."
"Yes princess!"
"Go and tell the kingdom they are invited to decorate my trees for Christmas."
"Yes princess!" He then raced off.
"I thought you already did that?"
She smiled sheepishly, "I forgot, someone forgot to remind me", she said, glaring at Toadsworth.
He merely sniffed in contempt, "I refuse to play along with these childish games when there is work to be done Princess." She sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Wait, your guards know how to make garland?" Mario asked.
"Yes, why are you surprised?"
"They're soldiers, not exactly the most stereotypical hobby for a soldier."
"You're right it's not, but garland making is a part of their basic training.
"Seriously?"
"Of course, don't your soldiers learn to make garland in your world?"
"Uh, afraid not Peach", Mario said.
"Oh, how odd what do they teach their soldiers?"
"How to kill?" Mario said, surprised.
Peach looked disgusted by this, "how awful!"
"What don't you teach your guards how to do that?"
"Of course not! It's so violent!"
Mario looked at her surprised.
She giggled, "I'm kidding, they don't learn it in basic training, " she said as she began making garland with the other soldiers .
"Well where did they learn it then?"
"I taught them, I spend time with my guards, take time to get to know them all. They risk their lives to protect me whenever bowser attacks, I feel obligated to get to know them, and build a relationship with them all."
A couple Goombas watched them from the brush nearby, "Christmas huh? Lord Bowser will want to hear about this!"
"Shhh! Keep your voice down, are you trying to get us caught?!
"Sorry…"
"Come on, let's go."
The other Goomba nodded as they ran off.
