Nothing good ever starts with time travel. Picard is visited by a strange girl in the night, claiming to be a friend from the future. Her instructions send them on a path no one expects: revealing secrets, nightmares, meeting new species, and traveling planes of existence. This story forgoes the events of Journey's End and the destruction of Enterprise D.

Q travels back in time to the 21st century and meets a young woman called Romula. They fall in love.

An a/u that was originally published as an M version. After the D crashes, Data decides to throw a wake for the ship, as the crew realizes that they have choices to make about what to do next. Jean-Luc and Beverly finally become lovers, but the path is a bit bumpy. Then Jean-Luc gets accused of being a traitor, an old friend comes to his rescue, and things get complicated.

Dr. Crusher convinces Data to take the main role in a new play she has found, called Dreamland. The other main role goes to Beverly's old friend, Emma, who proves to be a challenging personality. Meanwhile, Data has to overcome the turmoil his abduction by the Borg and their Queen left in his mind. Some humour, more romance and drama - no space battles and technobabble.

In the TNG Season 7 episode "Lower Decks", the Enterprise detected debris indicative of a Federation shuttle craft's life pod's destruction. There was no mention of organic material. In fact, the crew had to hear about the death of Sito Jaxa though Cardassian military reports. But again, no body was ever presented as evidence.
