This is a story about a girl from our own time period named Kana. Through a series of unknown events, she ended up aboard the starship Enterprise under Captain Picard's command. She bonds quickly with Deanna Troi and Will Riker who help her adjust to life aboard the ship. Then when disaster strikes the ship, Kana is able to repay some the help and kindness she has been shown.

Remember way back at the start of season one when Picard and Crusher weren't afraid of getting too close to one another? (I am blatantly ignoring the change to the game plan by TPTB, and am keeping in the spirit of Beverly's character serving as Chief Medical Officer AND Picard's love interest.) Here's how I think it could have played out... COMPLETE.

Picard turned around, surprised that he didn't even make it to his chair before she spoke. "What is it, Beverly?" he asked grabbing her hands lightly to bring her to the short couch in the room. When she sat down her head bowed as well. Picard refused to let go of one of her hands at that point. When Beverly couldn't make eye contact, he knew it was cause for concern.
