The crowd sang along as the hymn echoed throughout the church. Antonia was with her family but currently, her phone was interrupting the environment. It went off several times and the people around her had enough. Once her parents glared at her, she grabbed her phone, turning it off. She was used to getting messages all day long, but the goth forgot to lower the volume. Once mass was over, she powered the device back desperate to see who it was. She thought it could have been Nicole with juicy details about her and Joseph but there was no call from the girl. She had notifications for social media and scrolled to the bottom to see the phone they got to the parking lot Antonia now saw that Samuel had sent her several messages.
Samuel: Hey luv, I'm sorry I haven't responded to you all weekend. Seymour told me that he said I was sick but that isn't really the case. I haven't been feeling well because I got into a bit of an incident. :) You could say that it kinda was rough but I got in a brawl with someone and it left me black and blue. I'm all good now but I've been on my own island for a few. I hope you're doing all right darling.
Samuel: Do you want to go out later today? I know you said you wanted to hang out again a couple of days ago but I've been leaving you hanging.
Samuel: here's my situation lol

Samuel: Is there any way I can make it up to you? Can I come over?
Antonia felt her face get red as she looked at the image. She didn't know whether to blush over the images or his request to possibly sneak back to her house. She tapped on the picture and her eyes were the size of noticed his busted lip and eye immediately. A large blue bruise covered his left eye and the top lip was cut in many places. She instantly thought of many scenarios of what could have happened to the punk but in all of them, he was the didn't disclose any details but since she liked him she began to put him in the special bubble she mentally created for him. She noticed the other yellowish bruises on his shoulder and sides but then her eye gazed lower. The towel was wrapped around his waist in which she had zoomed in on. Something very risky to display in a parking lot where people have just left a very sacred and calming place. She looked at the other images were he had a close-up of his eye showing off a ruptured vessel. The other image of him pouting touching his cut lip. "Antonia, why are you so close to your phone?" The girl immediately put it down and didn't respond. Her mother looked at her waiting for her to answer. "Who are you talking to Toni?" Her father looked at her as he opened the car. She told her parents that there was an English project that her and Jiya were working on and was looking over her notes they had written down. Her parents gave a an expression she had yet seen and they got in the vehicle to get lunch. On the way home, Antonia continued texting Samuel. Unfortunately, she was spending the whole day with her parents so there wasn't time to call him in between errands but she figured she would get to talk to him tomorrow at school.
"Oh my gosh, your face!" Antonia came up to the boy wearing the hoodie. She walked into history class seeing that he was one of the few students early to class. Samuel gently chuckled as she gently pressed her fingers on the edge of the bruise. "Don't do that love," he gently got a hold of her hand but didn't let go. Antonia looked at him closer, noticing his hair was braided and that his earrings were missing. He didn't put on any eyeliner, wore comfy clothes, and even was in a good mood. She leaned in closer to get him to listen closely. "Sam... What did you do?" She narrowed his eyes at him but with a curious smile like the Cheshire cat. "I got in a fight," he raised his eyebrows leaning forward, "I kicked his ass but of course, everything comes with a price." She gently pulled the hoodie off his head to get a better view of him. His skin complexion emphasized how visible marks formed on him. He blushed as she used her finger to trace one of the braids down to the back of his neck. "Your hair looks nice like this. It's all neat and clean." "Thanks." She saw that the two braids he wore were secured with neon green elastics that were familiar to her. The two smiled at each other enjoying their little moment just before Nicole came in. "Woah! What happened to your face?" Nicole's concerned expression soon faded away when she then remembered how often Samuel would get into fights. The goth looked over at her best friend and said with a sarcastic tone, "What do you think happened?" They both giggled as Nicole decided not to ask any questions at the moment. She knew she would milk it out of Antonia the next time they had the chance to talk in private.
Nicole put her stuff down to get ready for class when Seymour then saw the two talking to each other. He hurried over to Samuel and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. "You see pretty boy here and his new look. Doesn't he look so handsome? It's the new exclusive white collar beat down." Antonia gasped and covered her mouth while Samuel scorned at the goofy more upset over his phrasing as it seemed like he lost the fight. Antonia smiled trying to hold in laughter, "I actually do like his hair. Did you do it? You have the same elastics." He smiled feeling happy that the girl complimented his braiding skills, "Yes. I in fact did do his hair. He honestly should have had it like this during the fight so that jerk couldn't grip your hair. "What? Like what do you mean," the goth then glared at Seymour, "You were there? You knew?" Seymour gave the girl a big smile and looked at Samuel. The punk raised an eyebrow and let out a chuckle as he knew the teen lied saying he was sick. "You saw him fight and didn't tell me. What a mate..." Antonia's sassy remark made the other students turn around and begin to notice the four talking to each students started to interrogate Samuel but everything was back to the way it was when Mr. Olson asked them to quit bothering the punk.
