Persona 4: Snowy Spring Chapter 01: Welcome to Inada
Lyall the Werewolf: Yet another Senran Kagura crossover, this time with Persona 4. I've had this and a lot of other things in the works for a while. After a long time, I finally feel I can bring it to life. It helps that I've been playing P4: Golden on the PS4. It makes me wish we had gotten these ports years ago.
I know I have a Persona/Sword Art Online crossover up, but I'm thinking of taking that one down. My interest in continuing it has tragically waned. If I do take it down, I may reupload it at a later date when I feel I have a better idea of what I want to achieve with it. The same might happen with Super Senran Kagura Z and Uncanny Biohazard. These were big projects I didn't put a lot of thought into, which was why they haven't been updated in so long. So, if you haven't gotten attached to them now, don't.
So then, let the game begin.
(I don't own the Persona or Senran Kagura series)
Everything was cold and eerie. A thick fog blanked the area. It was in the middle of nowhere.
And yet, a long blue luxurious limousine drove through the fog in a straight line. Its destination was unclear.
The vehicle's interior was colored a vibrant shade of velvet blue, save for multiple wine glasses placed to the right.
Soothing and eerie music played in the background.
There were three passengers.
One was a bizarre-looking old man in a black suit. He had a long nose, pointed ears, bulging, bloodshot eyes, and a very wide toothy smile. He sat at the partition window, elbows placed firmly on a round table in the center, while his chin, or maybe his nose, rested above his entwined hands.
The second passenger was a beautiful woman with platinum blonde hair wearing a blue attendant's uniform. The woman held a large book placed firmly on her lap.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room." the bizarre man spoke courteously to the third occupant, who was a guest.
The third passenger appeared before the bizarre man and his attendant. The third passenger was dazed and confused, but somehow, he remained composed through the weirdness.
"My, it seems we have a guest with an unusual destiny." the bizarre man said with an amused tone. His beady eyes stare directly at the young guest. "I am Igor, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"Yes, welcome. I will be accompanying you on your journey. You may call me, Margaret." the woman named Margaret said. She spoke with elegance and poise.
"Velvet Room?" the confused guest asked. He found it somewhat difficult to speak in this strange location.
"This place exists between dream and reality. Mind and matter." Igor replied, "It is a place where those who are bound by a contract may enter. It would appear you'll be signing a contract in the very near future."
The guest became more confused by the mention of a contract.
Before he could even question any further, a set of cards appeared in front of Igor after he waved his bony hand. The back of the cards had black and white masks on them.
Waving his hand again, Igor made the cards spread across the table, forming a diamond shape.
"Do you believe in fortune telling?" Igor asked.
"I guess…"
"Each reading is done with the same cards, yet the end result is always different. Life follows that same principle, doesn't it?" Igor chuckled.
Again, through his magic fingers, Igor flipped one card from the upper left. It revealed the image of a tower being struck by lightning.
"Hm… The Tower in the upright position represents the immediate future. It seems a terrible catastrophe is headed your way. The card indicating the future beyond that is…" Igor paused as he flipped another card over. This time, it was the card to the upper right. "The Moon, in the upright position."
Right around this time, the guest finally realized that Igor was reading the tarot cards. He had some knowledge of the tarot, but he never fully invested time in them. One of the few times the tarot cards came to mind was when he read Raidou's Wild Adventure Part 3.
"This card represents "hesitation" and "mystery". Very interesting." an amused Igor said, "It seems you will encounter a misfortune at your destination, and a great mystery will be imposed upon you."
"A mystery…?" the guest wondered aloud.
"The coming year will be a turning point in your destiny. If the mystery goes unsolved, your future will be forever lost. My duty is to assist our guests so that does not happen." Igor explained as he made the cards disappear.
"Once you have formed the contract, you will return here on your own, where we will properly aid you," Margaret said.
"Oh, what's this? A new card?" Igor wondered aloud as a new card appeared.
The card's picture resembled a young, slender woman poised on the tips of her toes. She held a sword in front of her while two scales were beside her.
"You don't see this every day. The Adjustment Card." Igor said as he held the card up.
"Adjustment?" the guest asked. He never heard of that one. He only knew of the standard 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot.
"This card seeks balance in all things. Free will, morals, karma, and most importantly, harmony, and the changes that must be made to maintain that balance, such as the understanding of light and darkness. This card may be of great value to you on your journey. What does that entail? We shall see." Margaret said as the card disappeared from her master's hand.
"You'd best be off. But first, why don't you introduce yourself?" asked Igor.
The guest found this incredibly weird. But he felt he could trust Igor, despite how he looked.
"Yu Narukami."
"I see." Igor nodded, "Let's hope your journey becomes a fulfilling one. Farewell, for now."
All faded to white as the guest felt light-headed.
[-Reality: Monday, April 11, 2011: Afternoon-]
Finally, Yu woke up from his dream. He found himself sitting in a passenger seat on a train. He glanced at the window beside him and saw his reflection once the train exited the tunnel. The afternoon sun was shining brightly outside, as the sky was clear.
Yu Narukami was tall and relatively handsome and had bowl-shaped silver hair and gray eyes. He wore a black jacket, gray turtleneck, and black pants.
He remembered he was moving to a new location by himself. Before he realized it, he nodded off for a while. He eventually woke up and found himself alone again. Or so he thought.
"Oh, I see you're awake." said a soft feminine voice.
Yu turned and saw a beautiful girl sitting across from him in the same cart. She had pale skin, light ice blue eyes, and medium-length short dark gray hair, which was adorned with a white ridden tie with blue stripes at the ends. She wore a white and brown cardigan shirt, a black skirt with matching pantyhose, and a pair of white shoes.
"I was worried I'd have to wake you before the train reached its stop." the girl said.
"Oh… are we close to the stop?" Yu asked. He didn't remember her sitting here before. He must have really been out of it if he hadn't noticed her while he was asleep.
"I believe so. I hope you don't mind sharing a seat with a stranger." the girl answered.
"Nah, it's no problem," Yu replied.
"I see. That's good to know." the girl said as turned and stared out the window.
Yu wasn't sure what to say next. It seemed like she wasn't much for conversation. He was somewhat socially awkward and didn't talk much either, so it wasn't a big deal. But even he couldn't help noticing a very notable aspect of her appearance. He had only seen them in anime or video games, but he never imagined he'd meet a girl with large breasts in real life. They were the biggest he had ever seen. It made him wonder what cup size she was. Possibly an H-cup? Actually, her body was ridiculously curvy, it was hard not to notice her at all. He wondered how her clothes could even fit her body's proportions so snugly.
"Are you satisfied?" the girl asked. Yu quickly realized her icy gaze was on him and she knew he was staring at her.
"S-Sorry, I didn't mean to stare." Yu awkwardly said.
"You're not the first. I'm used to it by now." the girl sighed in mild annoyance.
"Yeah, I'll bet…" Yu thought. At least she didn't get mad. She seemed like the composed type. Hoping to change the subject, he asked "Um… are you moving to Inaba, too?"
"Yes. Due to some circumstances, I'm moving to Inaba for the year." the girl replied. It seemed she didn't want to linger on Yu's curious stare either, so she let it slide. "Is it the same for you?"
"Yeah. My parents found a job overseas but couldn't afford to take me with them. That's why they arranged it so that I'll be living with my uncle in Inaba starting today until next spring."
"I see. It must be difficult."
"I'm used to stuff like this. My family moves around a lot because they change jobs so often."
The girl looked at him empathetically, like she understood what that was like.
Just then, the loudspeaker came to life.
"Thank you for riding with us! We are now approaching Yasoinaba Station! All passengers please prepare to exit the train!"
"That's our stop," Yu said. The girl nodded in agreement. He stood up and grabbed his duffel bag. The girl did the same with her own luggage, a white suitcase.
Soon the train slowed down on arrival at Yasoinaba Station. Besides Yu and his new acquaintance, there weren't any other passengers exiting the train. They exited the train station and were greeted with an empty street of a rural town in front of them.
"It's quieter here than expected." the girl said as she stood beside Yu with her suitcase.
"Yeah. There's absolutely nothing here." Yu replied. This was his mother's hometown, which was why she arranged for him to live here with his uncle. This was probably his first time coming to Inada.
"My living arrangements are in this direction, so I'll be living now." the girl pointed east of the train station.
"Okay. I guess we'll see each other later, miss…"
"Yumi. My name is Yumi Tsukikiri." the girl named Yumi said.
"I'm Yu Narukami. Nice to meet you."
"Yes, you as well. May our paths cross again in the future." Yumi said with a small smile and bowed. She walked away soon after.
Yu wasn't sure what to make of her. Yumi spoke maturely, but he was certain she was in the same age group as him. Maybe he'll see her at Yasogami High, the school he'd be attending while in Inaba. Probably not. Given how pretty and mature she was, she looked like she would belong to a rich prep school than a regular one.
And just as he thought he was alone, a new voice called out.
"Hey, over here!" the voice was masculine, befitting an adult male.
Yu turned to see a man and a little girl approaching him.
The man was fairly tail and was middle-aged. He had short grayish-black hair and gray eyes, a three-day stubble, and broad shoulders. He wore a dark gray shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a loose red necktie, a brown belt, and black pants. He had a black jacket slung over his shoulder.
The little girl had brown hair tied into pigtails and big brown eyes. She wore a white turtleneck under a sleeveless pink dress with two shades of red, white socks, and pink penny loafers. She was walking shyly behind the middle-aged man.
"Wow, you're a lot more handsome in person than in the photo. I bet you're popular with the ladies. You were just talking to that girl a moment ago, weren't you?" the man casually asked.
Yu wasn't sure how to respond to the stranger's comment. He seemed familiar, though.
"Oh, sorry for getting off track. I'm Ryotaro Dojima and I'll be looking after you. I'm your mother's younger brother, and that about sums it up." Dojima said.
"Oh, that's right. He is my uncle, isn't he?" Yu thought. He barely had much recollection of him, though. It has been years since he last met.
"It's been a while," Yu said politely as he shook hands with his uncle, who was pleased the silver-haired boy remembered him.
"I'll say. Look how tall you've gotten! I remember when you were still in diapers. I was the one who changed them, you know." Ryotaro said while smiling casually.
Yu was glad no one else was around to hear that, especially not Yumi.
Dojima gently nudged the little girl hiding behind his leg in front of Yu.
"This is my daughter, Nanako. Go on, introduce yourself to your cousin." Dojima ordered his daughter. Nanako could only shyly stare up at Yu with soft pink cheeks and couldn't speak.
Seeing that Nanako was hesitant, Yu decided to break the ice first.
"Hi there," Yu said gently.
"H-Hello…" Nanako mumbled softly, before cowering behind her father again in embarrassment.
"Hehe, what're you so shy for?" Dojima asked teasingly. Unamused, Nanako smacked her father's backside, causing him to yelp. He chuckled again, taking his punishment in good stride while his daughter pouted.
Yu held a small smile at this interaction. He was kind of envious, wishing he had a close relationship like this with his parents. But he had grown used to keeping quiet and following their whims. Keeping to himself was pretty much the norm for him, and he had his doubts it was going to change here.
"Well then, shall we get going? My car's over there." Dojima said. Yu nodded and the three board Dojima's car, riding off.
It was silent in the car, as Yu took the backseat, while Nanako sat in the passenger seat beside her father.
While looking out the window, Yu could pick up some news from the radio. There was a lot of buzz going around about a city council secretary named Taro Namatame, who was facing serious allegations regarding an affair with a TV announcer named Mayumi Yamano. The affair was all over the news after Namatame's wife, Inka Singer Misuzu Hiiragi went public with it.
Even now, the news wouldn't stop talking about it. It was like they were trying to smear those involved.
It wasn't of any interest to Yu, though. All he did was go about his everyday life, like usual. Go to school, study, have brisk interactions with his classmates, go home, watch TV or something, do some homework, before going to bed. And then prepare to move to the next location without much fanfare or any real fond memories to look back on. Rinse and repeat. The Narukami family's latest move was somewhere in Tokyo.
Suddenly, Dojima stopped the car briefly after spotting a red light.
This made Yu sneak a glance at a poster of a famous teen idol on a store window. He remembered seeing her promote a new drink in a bikini once, though he couldn't remember what it was called. Her body may not have been as curvy as Yumi's, but the idol was in good shape. What was her name again?
"Hey…" Dojima called to his nephew, "I know this has gotta be tough on you, having to pick up and move here because your parents are workaholics. But since you're here for a year, we can make the most of it. It'll be fun." Dojima said while turning back to his nephew with a reassuring smile.
"Y-Yeah." Yu nodded.
A moment later, Dojima felt Nanako tapping his shoulder. She looked distressed and embarrassed.
"Potty time… Hurry!"
[-Inaba Central Shopping District: Moel Gas Station-]
"Welcome to Moel!" a male attendant enthusiastically shouted as he rushed out after Dojima parked the car.
They arrive in the central shopping district to refill on gas at the Moel Gas Station. The only other vehicle there was a large green delivery truck that eventually drove away.
Nanako was the first to exit the car, as she was in a hurry to the bathroom.
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay by yourself?" Dojima asked his daughter. She briskly nodded. Although, she was a little lost.
"It's in the back to your left. Do you know which is left? The side you don't hold your chopsticks in." the employee teased.
"I know. Geez…" Nanako pouted before rushing off to the bathroom.
"So, are you headed out?" the attendant asked Dojima. He was young, of average height, and somewhat androgynous with gray wavy hair past his shoulders.
"No. We just picked my nephew up from the train station. He's moving here from the big city today." Dojima answered.
"Oh, I see." The attendant said, seemingly intrigued.
"Fill her up, please. Regular's fine." Dojima requested while walking off to smoke a cigarette.
"Coming right up!" the attendant bowed and immediately got to work refilling the car.
Meanwhile, Yu stepped out to obverse more of the town.
There were some people out and about, like a couple of gossiping housewives, a woman riding her bike, and a brother and sister seemingly arguing.
There were a couple of interesting shops as well, like a book store, a metal works store, a tofu shop, a liquor store, and a few other notable locations. Some of the stores seemed to have closed, though.
It looked like the folks in this town were content with their mundane lives here. Yu wasn't much of a thrill seeker himself so it wasn't all bad to him.
"You in high school?" the attendant asked Yu while the car was being filled up.
"Huh? Yes, that's right." Yu answered.
"We could use some part-timers if you're interested." The attendant suggested, "I bet you're astonished by how boring it is out here. You'll be bored to tears if you don't have a job or something to keep you busy. So, what do ya say?"
"No, that's okay." Yu politely waved off.
"No worries, just it some thought. We don't mind if you're a student." the attendant held out his hand, hoping for a handshake.
"Sure." Yu nodded as he shook hands with the attendant.
"Cool. Well, back to work!" the attendant said and resumed his job.
Dojima and Nanako return soon after.
"Sorry for the delay." Dojima said as he tapped Yu's shoulder, "Ready to go?"
The nephew nodded as he was ready to re-enter the car. However, something odd happened. He suddenly felt a throbbing pain in his head, causing him to feel dizzy. He leaned against the car to study himself.
Dojima and Nanako notice this and look worried.
"Are you okay?" a concerned Nanako asked, "You don't look so good. Are you carsick?"
"No, I'm fine… It passed." Yu answered after recovering himself.
"You must be exhausted from the trip over here. C'mon, let's go." Dojima suggested as he climbed into the car, followed by his nephew and daughter.
[-Later that Night: Dojima Residence-]
The Dojima family and their new charge arrive at their residence. It was a fairly big traditional Japanese two-story dwelling. It was located on the eastern edge of Inaba in a residential area.
He wasn't sure if it was Dojima's personal tastes, but Yu thought it was a nice house.
Before they picked Yu up, the Dojima family picked up a couple of plates of sushi from the supermarket.
They placed the food on the living room coffee table and sat around it.
"Sorry it's not anything fancy, but it's the best I could throw together." Dojima said, "So, let's have a toast."
The three raised their soba and orange juice together and had a drink.
Afterward, Dojima turned to his nephew, "Listen, Yu. As long as you're here, you're part of the family, so don't hesitate to make yourself at home, okay?"
"I'll do just that," Yu said with a small smile.
This satisfied Dojima, knowing that his nephew was already feeling comfortable.
"Alright, let's eat."
Unfortunately, this was when his cell phone started ringing.
"Ugh… who's calling at this hour?" Dojima groaned in annoyance. Getting up, he took his cell phone out and answered, "Dojima here!"
Yu and Nanako looked on as Dojima conserved with the caller and made arrangements for some kind of meeting.
"Sorry, something's come up at work. Go ahead and eat without me." Dojima said regretfully.
Nanako stood up, looking as though she was about to say something, but the words died down.
"I don't know how late I'll be. Help Yu out, okay?" Dojima said to Nanako.
"Okay…" Nanako sadly replied.
"Well, I'm off." Dojima sighed as he grabbed his jacket and prepared to go out. As he stepped outside the house, his voice could be heard, "Nanako, it's raining out! What did you do with the laundry?"
Now that he mentioned it, Yu could hear the faint sound of rain outside.
"I already brought it in."
"Great. I'm off!" that was the last they heard from Dojima. The sound of his car driving off disappeared not long after.
Nanako sat down quietly. She looked lonely.
It was awkwardly silent, as Nanako was getting ready to eat.
Yu, feeling more awkward than when he was with Yumi, decided to break the ice again, "So, your dad… he's a detective, right?"
He remembered his mother saying something about his uncle's detective work once.
"Yeah. At the police department. It's always like this." Nanako said plainly.
Yu wondered how old Nanako was. She looked about 7 or 8. Now that it looked like she adjusted to his presence, she seemed pretty mature for her age. She didn't seem to mind being alone in the house, and she was capable of handling household chores on her own by the sound of it. Yu was impressed by it, but he also felt sorry for her.
"She's handling this more maturely than you'd expect from a kid her age." Yu thought. Not that his relationship with his parents was much different. Yu rarely spent time with his parents due to their constant work.
Without another word, Nanako turned on the television sitting in the corner of the living room using the remote control on the coffee table.
The TV switched on, and the weather forecast came on.
"Now let's look at this week's weather. With storm clouds moving in from the west, expect rain throughout the day in most areas tomorrow." The weather woman announced.
"It certainly is raining tonight." Yu thought while he and Nanako ate the sushi.
"And now a word from our sponsor!"
After the forecast was a largescale supermarket with a familiar logo. Various stalls and shops could be seen in the commercial.
"At Junes, every day is Customer Appreciation Day! Come see for yourself, and get in touch with our products. Every day's Great At Your Junes!"
"Oh yeah, the sushi came out of those bags with the word Junes printed on them. They were sitting at the back of the car." Yu remembered. He probably didn't notice due to the exhaustion from the trip.
"Every day's Great at Your Junes!" Nanako suddenly sang. Her mature voice was filled with child-like joy as she sang, which caught Yu a little off guard.
"You're not hungry?" a composed Nanako asked.
"Oh, no! It looks great." Yu sputtered.
Following dinner, Nanako escorted her older cousin to his new room upstairs at the end of the hall.
Yu's room had all the boxed items his parents shipped over in it. There was also a bed, a sofa, a drawer, a TV set, and other essentials for one's bedroom. It was a pretty comfy setup.
The silver-haired boy was too tired to deal with the boxes now, so after a quick bath, he decided to wear his makeshift pajamas, that being a white long-sleeve shirt and black sweatpants.
He found them in one of the boxes. He also came across his old school uniform and remembered the day the teacher announced his plans to move away for the next year. He didn't quite understand why they seemed sad to see him go when they didn't know him that well.
He set the old uniform back into the box and sat on the sofa, his shoulder sinking tiredly.
After a long sigh, it seemed to have finally sunk in for Yu.
"So, I'm stuck here for a year, huh…?"
Actually, this would be a new record of how many homes Yu was made to stay in. Usually, it was a couple of months or so before his parents found a different job elsewhere and relocated just as when Yu felt settled.
Well, there was nothing to be done except bear with the boredom.
And just as Yu closed his eyes for a brief spell…
"Do you seek the truth?"
"What the…" Yu uttered after hearing a distorted voice. It sounded like a garbled mix of a man and a woman.
Yu opened his eyes again and saw everything around him go from a normal room to a space covered in thick white fog. He felt hazy just looking at it. There was only one thing visible in the fog. It was vaguely human-shaped, but everything was so barely that he couldn't make out what the entity was.
"Is this a dream…?"
"Then try your best to catch it." the entity spoke once more as it was starting to fade.
"W-Who is that…?" Yu couldn't ponder this question any further, due to exhaustion finally taking hold and putting the silver-haired teen to sleep.
"Be warned… people only see what they want as the truth and the fog thickens."
[-Tuesday, April 12, 2011: Early Morning-]
Yu awoke the next morning, still feeling tired. He felt like he had a nightmare.
He heard knocking on the door and Nanako's voice calling, "Breakfast is ready!"
His tiredness finally subsided, and Yu decided to freshen up and put on his new school uniform. He knew he had to start school today and didn't want to be late thinking about a weird nightmare.
After a largely uneventful breakfast with Nanako, she offered to show him the way to Yasogami High.
Due to the heavy rain, both cousins take umbrellas with them.
Nanako brought Hayato to Samegawa Flood Plain, which was in the school zone.
"You keep going straight from here," Nanako instructed as she pointed straight ahead.
Yu saw some students going in that direction. He could see the school off in the distance. It was built on top of a large fill, which made it easy to spot.
"Okay, thanks for showing me the way," Yu said.
"It's no problem." Nanako said as she turned on her heel, "My school's this way. Bye!"
Nanako left in the opposite direction.
Thinking she would be fine on her own, Yu walked off to the school.
As he walked along the path to Yasogami High, Yu noticed a strange sight.
A boy riding on a bicycle while holding an umbrella. He was wearing the same uniform as Yu and a handful of other students on the road. His hair was fawn-colored and his eyes were brown. He had a pair of orange headphones around his neck.
"Whoaa…" the cycling student looked wobbly on his bike. Eventually, his unsteady bike collided with a nearby telephone pole, causing him to land on his groin.
It was no surprise this would be the result when trying to ride to school on a bike while it was raining, but Yu couldn't help wincing a little at the boy's misfortune.
"That looked painful…" Yu thought.
"Ugh… critical hit to the nads…" the pained student groaned while caressing his crotch while hopping about.
"I'll just leave him be…" Yu thought as he walked passed the pained student without looking.
[-Yasogami High Front Gate-]
Yu finally made it to the front gate of his new school, where he was met with an unexpected surprise.
It was Yumi Tsukikiri, the girl he met during his train ride to Inaba. She arrived at the gate not too long before he did.
"Hey, Tsukikiri." Yu called out to Yumi.
"Oh, hello again. Narukami-san, correct?" Yumi said as she turned to him.
The silver-haired boy quickly noticed she drew a ton of stares. They were most definitely focused on her body.
Yumi was wearing the Yasogami girl's uniform, but it looked like it had some modifications done so it would fit her… unique shape. She also wore a white sweater beneath the uniform's top, black pantyhose, and gray shoes.
The dress code was lax, so students were allowed to wear whatever they wanted so long as it still had the Yasogami High uniform or insignia intact.
"I didn't know you'd be going to this school too," Yu said.
"Yes, small world. I'm transferring as a second year." Yumi replied.
"Oh, same as me then."
"I believe we're to meet in the faculty office with our homeroom teacher. Let's go." Yumi said and went on ahead.
"Okay…" Yu awkwardly followed behind. He felt daggers on his back for some reason. They seem to be coming from a bunch of guys.
Yu and Yumi enter Yasogami High, switch shoes, and go to the faculty office on the first floor.
There, they met their homeroom teacher. He was a short, gangly middle-aged man in a blue and white striped suit. He had black hair in a bub-cut. His most notable features were his buck teeth sticking out of his mouth.
"So, you two are the city trash that was dumped on our doorstep for a year?" the teacher asked rudely. He glared at both new students and snorted.
It seemed like he formulated his first impression of the two, and by the looks of it, it wasn't pleasant.
"Hmph! I'm stuck babysitting a fugitive and bimbo from the big city, huh? Just my luck." the teacher grumbled quite loudly.
While Yu tried to remain neutral, Yumi didn't shy away from taking immediate offense.
"Excuse me? What right do you have to call us names right off the bat?" Yumi asked.
"Wow, she's got guts…" Yu thought.
"I won't tolerate back talk, young lady! I'm Kinshiro Morooka, your homeroom teacher! I damn well expect you to remember that!" Morooka yelled, "And if I catch you seducing and taking advantage of any hormone-driven boys at this school with that obscene body of yours, you will be sorry."
"My only intention is to go through school life here without incident. I don't plan to get up to any such mischief." Yumi calmly replied.
"As if I'd trust a city girl like you to stay out of trouble! I swear, kids these days don't behave like they used to. Even here you grow up some damn fast! Every time I turn my back you always fool around on those damn phones, checking your life journals or my-places and whatnot. It's like you ignore common sense altogether!"
Morooka started going on a long-winded rant.
Yu and Yumi waited patiently until another teacher saved the day by reminding Morooka that class was about to begin.
The cranky teacher led the transfers to his classroom on the second floor. It was designated 2-2.
Loud chatter could be heard from inside. It quickly irritated Morooka.
"Damn brats chattering up the joint…" the rude teacher sharply turned to his new students, "You two better behave yourselves!"
Instead of waiting for a response, Morooka slid the door open and marched into the classroom, followed by Yu and Yumi.
"Alright, shut your traps!" ordered Morooka as he stood up to the podium.
All chatter from the students ceased upon hearing the teacher's command. They did not want to be on their homeroom teacher's bad side.
"I'm Kinshiro Morooka, your homeroom teacher from today forward." Morooka introduced himself, "First thing's first; just cuz it's spring, that doesn't mean you can swoon over each other like love-struck baboons! Long as I'm around, you students are gonna pure as the driven snow."
The students silently groan.
"This guy seems hell-bent on making bad first impressions with people." thought Yu while he and Yumi wrote their names on the chock board.
"Now I hate wasting my time, but I better introduce these transfer students." Morooka turned to Yu and Yumi, "These sad sacks were thrown out of our putrid capital to the boonies like yesterday's garbage. The boy's basically a loser, so you girls better not get any ideas about hitting on him."
Yu really wanted to say 'Who are you calling a loser?', but he decided it was better to play it cool and not agitate Morooka any more than he already was.
"The girl's even worse! She had the nerve to talk back to me, her teacher! No respect for authority! Just for that, she's going down on my rotten little shit list, effective immediately!" Morooka shot a nasty glare at Yumi, but she ignored him.
All she did was complain about his unsuitable behavior as a teacher. Holding a grudge over it and bringing it up before class started was unnecessary.
The students seemed impressed, though. Not many were willing to back-talk Morooka without fearing a harsh reprimand or expulsion.
"And you perverted dogs better keep your distance! I can see you analyzing her ridiculously unrealistic curves, and frankly, she's not worth your time!" Morooka yelled as he glared sharply at the boys.
A lot of the boys look away from Yumi's direction. It wasn't the hardest thing in the world to see almost everyone in class looking at Yumi like that. She said before that she was used to the attention, so it explained why she did not react to being stared at.
"That's enough wasting time. Introduce yourselves and make it quick. Ladies first." Morooka commanded.
Yumi didn't like the rude teacher's tone, but she complied.
"My name is Yumi Tsukikiri. It's nice to meet you all." Yumi said as she gracefully bowed to her new classmates. Her breasts jiggled from her movements, causing many to stare at her again.
"You hussy! I knew you'd offer yourself up like a slab of meat to those horn dogs in class! Have you no shame?!" yelled Morooka, to Yumi's ever-increasing annoyance.
While Morooka had his attention on Yumi, Yu decided to introduce himself and get it over with before more trouble stirred up.
"And I'm Yu Narukami. Nice to meet you-"
"And you! You must be enjoying the show up close and personal, aren't ya, you little heathen?!" Morooka suddenly yelled at Yu with an accusatory finger, "Bad enough you were ogling that innocent young girl by the window!"
"Wha?" Yu yelped. True, he was standing next to Yumi, but he didn't stare at her again. At least not intentionally. It was also coincidental that he was standing between Morooka and Yumi while being lectured. The only thing that wasn't true was him looking at some girl by the window. He wasn't even paying any attention to such details.
"That's number two on my shit list today!" Morooka slammed his hand on the podium, "Now listen up! This town's miles away from your city of perverted assholes and bitches, in more ways than one! So, keep whatever filthy habits you little shits developed at your old institution to yourselves!"
Yu looked nervous while an annoyed Yumi remained calm in the face of another furious rant.
It seemed no matter what they did, they would find some way to get on the rude teacher's bad side.
"Excuse me, sir!" someone called out while raising their hand.
It was a girl with short brown hair. She wore a green and yellow jacket over her uniform.
"We've got some empty seats over here. Is okay if the transfer students sit here?" she asked calmly.
As she pointed out, an empty seat was next to her in the middle row. Behind that seat was a familiar-looking boy with headphones. He had his head down for some reason.
The second seat was next to a girl with long black hair ahead of the jacket-wearing girl. The black-haired girl wore a red hair band and matching sweater over her uniform, along with black pantyhose.
"Huh? Yeah sure." Morooka nodded, surprisingly calm. "Ya hear that?! Those are your seats, so hurry up and sit down!"
Now finally free of the rude teacher's lecture, Yu and Yumi take their newly assigned seats.
As Yu sat down next to the girl in green, she leaned in to whisper to him and Yumi, "We call him King Moron for a reason. He's horrible."
"Yeah…" Yu whispered back. He was grateful to her for saving them from a furious lecture.
Yumi remained composed as usual.
"Well, just hang in there for the next year, okay?" the jacket-wearing girl said.
Other students were already talking as well.
"Sucks to be the transfer students, getting stuck in King Moron's class on their first morning here."
"Yeah, he won't think twice about expelling you if you get on his bad side. Then again, we're all in the same boat."
"But damn, Tsukikiri-san is so hot! I gotta ask her out!"
"I knew the other transfer had to be a cute girl! I never imagined she had a huge rack, though!"
This was when King Moron decided he heard enough whispering, "Shut your traps! I'm taking roll call, and you better speak up when you're called!"
As Yu was wondering if he was going to fit in at this new school, he noticed a thick yellowish fog outside the school. It seemed the weather forecast was right.
Yumi noticed it as well. She caught a foreboding feeling from it.
[-Inaba: Residential Area-]
Before school ended, a lone girl from Yasogami was walking home early. She decided to take a shortcut through the residential area to the shopping district.
She hoped she could get to work without being seen by the neighbors and parents. They gave her enough grief over her decisions as of late and she didn't want to deal with them anymore.
The girl carefully navigated through the thick fog covering the neighborhood to get home. She knew the area well, so it wasn't a major problem. However, the girl noticed something. It was barely visible at first, at least from a distance, but up close… well, unsettling didn't do what she discovered justice.
It was a body tangled in an antenna on a house's roof. A body with no signs of life.
The girl could only release a horrified scream at the realization that the person dangling upside down from the antenna was dead.
Lyall the Werewolf: That's chapter 01. I would have added more, but I'd say this is a good place to end it for now. We'll pick up after school in the next chapter.
The surname I gave Yumi, Tsukikiri, means "Moon fog". Considering Yumi has likened herself and her group to the moon of justice, and Persona 4 is themed around the fog, I think it fits.
As for any romantic interactions between Yu and Yumi? It could happen. I just bumped Yumi's age down to 16, the same age as our protagonist. It probably wouldn't make much difference if she was 17, but let's make them the same age just to be safe.
I don't know if Marie will appear later on. I'm also debating on other Senran Kagura characters showing up. We'll see what happens.
That's all for now. Stay grizzly!
