Episode 18: Brother and Sister Reunited

Rosie stared on in complete and utter shock. "B-Brad, is that-?"

Suddenly, the green-haired young man went and covered her mouth when he heard a sound of some sort.

"Shh, quiet now and stay down," he warned.

Thomas and Rosie both quickly got down on their knees behind a large sofa while the real Brad hid away from the door. A second or so later, the fake Brad, now known as George, came into view and looking around the area furiously.

"I know they're around here," he said to himself. "Once I find those two losers, I'll give them a punishment they won't ever forget."

George stood near the door, looking around the empty station. Rosie, who was huddled next to Thomas, was deeply worried that he would come walking into the room and find them. To everyone's relief though, George merely walked away when he couldn't find anyone inside. This allowed everyone to emerge from their hiding places once the coast was clear.

"Okay, we're safe now," sighed Brad, before turning to Rosie with open arms and a bright smile. "Come here, my beloved sister."

Rosie walked slowly forward nervously. However, her worries all went away when she stood real close to Brad, allowing him to wrap his arms around her and give her a hug. Rosie, once she realized who he really was, almost felt like crying right here and now.

"It is you, you really are Brad," she sobbed.

Thomas just stood and watched on in shock.

"Do you mind explaining what's going on here?" The blue-haired boy asked in complete confusion.

Brad stood up, as Rosie broke away from him. "Oh of course, you both deserve to know everything, but we can't talk here though. Lots of people will be coming in soon to catch their trains. But I know of a good spot where we can talk. Follow me."

They walked all the way to a restaurant that was found not too far away from the train station.

Once inside the restaurant, it didn't take Thomas, Rosie, and Brad very long to find a table to sit at and order what they wanted to eat.

"This one is on me you two," Brad offered. "If that is okay with you two?"

"Well, if you say so," Thomas shrugged, before looking to Rosie. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm still shocked," The pink-haired girl admitted. "For a long time, I've believed that the boy at my house was Brad and yet, here's Brad and he's saying George is the brother that stayed. I'm confused."

"Well then, while we're waiting for our meals to arrive, I'll tell you two everything you need to know," Brad stated.

The two teenagers nodded, and thus Brad began to tell his story.

"As you've already figured out. Rosie and I both had a strong bond when we were younger. I cared about her and she cared about me, looking up to me as her hero," Brad narrated.

"And as of now, I still do," Rosie interrupted for a moment.

Brad continued on about their old lives in New York City years ago and how great life was, except for one minor detail. He had been walking from the kitchen into the living room when he heard a cry and a mean laugh. To his shock and anger, the crying was coming from Rosie, and the laughing had come from George. His twin brother had just deliberately pushed and shoved the young pink-haired girl down for no good reason at all, possibly just to amuse himself. This made Brad very cross, so cross, that he went and tackled his twin brother to the ground, starting a rather brutal fight between the two of them.

"George never liked Rosie. He hated having a sister in the family and thought it would be fun to hurt or mock her every chance he got. But every time he tried, I always stood in his way, and that often resulted into huge fights between us. Sometimes outdoors, sometimes in public places, and sometimes we even fought inside the house," Brad continued to narrate, this time he sounded rather grim.

Thomas felt very bad from hearing about those incidents.

"Rosie often wisely said to me that I shouldn't fight my own brother," Brad recalled. "But I simply said to her; 'I know I shouldn't fight, but I fight to defend you from him. Because I would never forgive myself should anything happen to my cute sweet sister'."

Rosie blushed upon hearing the 'cute' comment from her big brother and smiled sweetly at him.

"So, what happened next?" Thomas asked, breaking into the moment. "And how did you get that scar on your cheek?"

"Well the scar was from combat training, it can be quite tough. As for what happened next, it would see me getting sent away from home, and leaving poor Rosie in the hated gaze of George for years to come."

"Days before that moment, George and I were in the midst of our fighting once more. He had a long steel pole, and to this day I still don't know where he got it from," Brad muttered before continuing. "He swung it at me, but I dodged it every time, which only made him crosser still. Then his eye sight caught Rosie as she was watching the fight from a distance. Seeing her standing there, he decided to hurt her. But being the defensive brother I was, I couldn't allow that."

Brad paused as he looked down to his left arm.

"His swing hit my left arm so hard that it was popped out. Man I tell you, the pain was unbearable, and I think everyone nearby heard me crying out in pain. George didn't care though, he was smirking at what he had done. He wasn't smirking for long though when our parents came up and saw my arm not in it's right place. Our dad took me to the hospital where they were able to put it back into place, and they even attended to my bruises too. I swear, the process in putting my arm back into place with beyond painful, there are no words that can describe it."

"I can only imagine," Thomas muttered.

"After that incident and knowing that he had gone too far this time, our parents decided to send George away to Military camp in the hopes that he would become a well behaved person."

"Then why did you go instead of George?" Thomas interrupted briefly.

"You can thank George for that. Half of the time, our parents could never tell us apart. George knew of this, and decided to take advantage of it," Brad narrated, sounding quite angry this time around. "You see, the night before he was suppose to be shipped away, he made a fake bandage for himself, then he snuck into my room, and took some of my clothes to wear."

"When morning came, he came out wearing the same clothes I was wearing, he then framed me by telling our parents that I was trying to hurt Rosie again. I told them that I wasn't George, but they didn't believe me. They thought I was him, and they dragged me out of the house and sent me off to Military camp where I've been ever since."

Brad had finally finished his story, just as the food came to the table.

"I hope that explains everything that has happened," he concluded.

"It sure does," Thomas nodded slowly.

Rosie reached into her purse and pulled out her busted up doll. Brad looked very surprised to see the doll all destroyed.

"Look Brad. George did this to my doll," The pink-haired girl spoke up sadly. "The very one you got me when I was very little."

"Oh no," Brad was saddened to see this happen. "I knew how much you loved that doll Rosie." He smiled suddenly however, and pulled out a present from his nearby backpack. "But maybe this will make up for it."

Rosie carefully unwrapped the wrapping paper and gasped happily. For inside the present was a little purple and pink teddy bear with a red bow on it.

"I hope you like it."

Rosie got up from her seat, and hugged her brother tightly. "I love it, thank you so much Brad!"

"You're very welcome, my dear sweet sister."

Thomas watched and just smiled to himself.

After they were all done eating, Brad kept his word and paid for the meals. Then they left to take care of business, once and for all.

As they arrived, Brad took one look at the house and gave a little whistle of admiration and approval.

"Nice little place. I do miss our old home in New York City, but this is still nice," The green-haired young man smiled slightly. The smile changed a moment later to a rather serious look. "Now, what do you say we go inside and pay George a little visit? I've been meaning to have a little talk with him."

"Let us shall," Thomas smirked.

Rosie and Thomas both walked up the sidewalk first with Brad following close behind. Rosie took a deep breath and knocked on the door. A minute later, her mother answered the door.

"Hello Rosie. Hello Thomas. What brings you both here?" Rosie's mother greeted kindly.

"We're kind of looking for Brad, mom," Rosie answered. "Is he here?"

"Who is it honey?" came the call of her father from the kitchen.

"It's Rosie and Thomas," replied Rosie's mother, before turning and calling out to 'Brad'. "Brad, you've got company!"

"I'm coming! Who would want to bother me now?!" came the rumbling of George's nasty voice.

He walked into the kitchen looking very grumpy, but a sly smile crept onto his face the moment he saw Rosie.

"Well, well, well. Look who's come back," George snickered wickedly. "I knew you'd return here freckles. I guess now it's time I taught you that lesson..."

Rosie whimpered a little as she stood near Thomas, who then laid a hand to her back for comfort.

"Not before I teach you your lesson!" came a voice faintly familiar to George.

Thomas and Rosie both stepped aside. George kept a sinister smile on his face, not frightened by the voice he had and his parents just heard. But what he saw approaching him, turned his look from sinister to complete shock. Why? For it was the real Brad now standing before the evil brother.

"I have returned...George!" The good brother announced.

George was actually shocked to see him initially, but he quickly smirked and decided to play Brad in order to deceive his parents. Likewise, his parents both didn't seem to believe the real Brad.

"You're not Brad!" Their father shouted. "This is Brad. You're George. We've sent you away to Military camp to improve your attitude!"

"And I thank you for sending me to Military camp, I actually learned quite a bit while I was there," Brad smiled a bit, before frowning. "Sadly, I have to tell you that you've sent the wrong son there, I am the real Brad and he's George."

"He's lying!" George looked over to his parents briefly, before looking forth to Brad and pointing accusingly. "He's George!"

"Is that so?" Brad raised an eyebrow, before looking over to his mother. "Have you noticed a difference in his behaviour since you sent me away?"

His mother seemed stunned to hear something like that come from 'George'. "Y-yes," she nodded.

"Yet, the real Brad was always well mannered and very kind to everyone," The green-haired young man continued. "Which especially includes his baby sister Rosie, so how can he change from good to bad as soon as I was sent away? The answer is simple, you've sent the wrong boy to Military camp."

"Nice try George. But your sneaky trick won't work," George teased, wagging the index finger of his left hand. "We all know who you really are!"

"There is one way to prove it, we'll let Rosie here prove who is who," Brad retorted, pointing to the youngest sibling. "Whoever she hugs is the real Brad."

George mentally cursed on his luck. Rosie grew frightened though, but Thomas gave her support.

"Go on Rosie. It's okay, I'm right here if you need me," Thomas assured her.

Rosie slowly walked into the house, and looked at the two twin men.

"Honey, which boy is the real Brad?" asked her mother calmly.

The pink-haired girl looked over to the boy at the far end of the hallway, he was snickering quietly to himself, thinking she would hug him. Then she looked back to the boy that stood in the doorway and gave an encouraging smile. Rosie smiled and walked over towards him, and she gave him a big hug.

His father smiled, while his mother almost burst into tears. Both parents approached their long returned son and embraced him.

"Oh Brad, we're so sorry, we didn't know," Their mother sobbed.

"Please forgive us son," added their father, feeling guilty.

"Nah that's okay, it's like I said before, I thank you for sending me there, I learned quite a bit while I was at Military Camp," Brad admitted with a smile. His attention then shifted over to a seething George, "and now, it's time you and I had that little talkGeorge. I've heard you've been picking on my sister again, you've destroyed her favourite doll, the very doll that I gave to her when she was only six years old, and you've even tried beating up Rosie's closest friends too. I bet you thought you could get away with it, didn't you? Well...today I'm going to prove you wrong."

Having been found out, George screamed in anger and defeat, and ran for the exit of the house, but Brad quickly chased after him. He was not going to let George get away with all that he had done for those many years. George meanwhile was almost home free, but found Thomas standing in the way of the exit.

"Going somewhere Georgie?" asked Thomas teasingly, with folded arms.

"Blast you!" snarled George as got into a defensive pose.

Brad and Rosie both came up to him from behind.

"No where to run now," Brad said firmly. "You might as well give up now George...unless you want a real lesson taught to you."

"You can try all you want Brad," sneered George as a sinister look came to his face. "But I will beat you for good, and then I'll take care of that little shrimp and her friends!"

"Thomas," Brad called out. "Should George get past me, protect Rosie no matter what!"

"You've got it Brad!" The blue-haired boy called back as he went and stood in front of Rosie in a fighting stance.

The two twin brothers stood in fighting positions, circled around each other for what seemed like forever. Then they charged in and started fighting. George tried to punch and kick at Brad a lot, but would end up missing,

"Will you hold still so that I can beat you up!" snapped George.

"I don't think so!" Brad snapped back.

The evil brother tried to punch and kick at the good brother at least a few dozen times. He was close at some points, but not one of his attacks even hit Brad once, and it only served to tire George out.

"Hold still! Hold still!" George screamed in rage. "Fight me like a man and not a coward!"

George took a few more swings before he stopped. He was panting heavily, and also looked worn out.

"Fight you like a man, huh?" Brad asked, cracking his knuckles. "Very well then. This is for Rosie!" He angrily punched George in the right side of face. "This is for her friends, the ones you tried to hurt!" And Brad punched George in the left side of his face. "And this...this is for your dirty trick!" The final punch hit George dead center in his face.

George fell back and onto the ground, but he didn't give up. One final punch by him was avoided by Brad and the evil brother fell onto his face in exhaustion. The evil brother started to lift his head up back up, showing that his face was now covered in scratches and bruises, and a bleeding nose from the beatings he took. And there he saw it; he saw Brad looking down on him pitifully. It just filled George with disgust and anger.

"You got your chance, go for it," he said coldly. "Kill me if you want."

Brad frowned and started to raise a fist up like he was indeed going to strike. George closed his eyes and braced for the impact from his goody-good brother. But a few seconds later, Brad's face softened up and stopped his attack while shaking his head slowly with a heavy sigh. This made George open his eyes and gasp in surprise. Why didn't Brad attempt to attack him?

"No," The good brother replied, sounding surprisingly calm. "I would never kick a man when he's down. You're still family George, even if you are an irredeemable monster."

And he began to walk away from George. Nearby, Rosie and Thomas both watched this scene with surprised looks on their faces. But it was right there and then George immediately saw a chance to hurt Brad right back, as he slowly got to his feet. There was a look of pure hatred burning in his eyes.

"If you won't hurt me, then I'll hurt you!" he roared with fury.

With that said, George began to run forth, aimed himself straight at his brother, running into kick with one of his steel toed boots sticking out. Rosie was the first to notice this and started to run forth in protest.

"BRAD, LOOK OUT!" she cried out to her brother.

As George got close enough, he managed to kick the pink-haired girl's right leg with his steel toed boots, making her groan in pain as she fell onto the ground while holding onto her leg in agony. She had gotten past her blue-haired friend and acted like a shield in between Brad and George. This was much to the evil brother's surprise.

"You foolish girl, why did you get in the way?!" George demanded.

"I won't let you hurt my big brother," Rosie whimpered in pain, looking up at her evil brother. "He's stood up for me many times in the past, and now I'll do the same for him!"

George laughed in self amusement. "You're more foolish than I thought you were."

"That's enough!" shouted Brad, finally losing his temper with his evil twin brother as he slowly walked over. "You know what Rosie did for me just now? That's a little something I'd like to call 'caring for others', which is something that you'll never understand." He looked in his beloved sister's direction and smiled briefly. "Thank you Rosie, it was very sweet of you to try and defend me."

Rosie was still holding onto her leg and grimacing in pain, but managed a quick flash of a smile to her older brother. As he looked to George, Brad's smile vanished as he went and grabbed a hold of George by his shirt collar, lifting him up in anger.

"As for what you just did to her just now, I won't let you get away with it!"

George tried to break free, but his worn out strength and Brad's own strong grip prevented him. The good brother raised his free fist and punched it forth, slamming the fist right into George's stomach. This made the evil brother's eyes widen in pain and shock before they closed. With that done, Brad dropped the now defeated and unconscious George onto the ground.

"You are a disgrace you know that?"

Brad walked over to Rosie, picked her up and carried her to a nearby chair. Rosie's mother was looking over her daughter's right leg and applying a little bit of medicine and a bandage to it.

"Just a small bruise, nothing too serious," she told her youngest daughter.

"It was very brave of you to stand up to him, thank you," Brad smiled.

"You are my brother, and I love you very much," said Rosie happily. "That will never change. Not in a million years."

The green-haired young man went and wrapped his arms around his sister, to which she hugged him back.

"This little moment reminds me of when they were kids," Rosie and Brad's father said to Thomas. "It's good to see that they still get along quite well."

"I'll agree to that." Thomas replied.

Eventually, when George finally regained conscious, both of his parents scolded him severely for his tricks, hurting and/or trying to kill Rosie, attacking her friends, and for causing all sorts of trouble.

"Since you still haven't learned to behave yourself, we are going to send you to Military camp," said George's father crossly. "And this time we will make SURE that you are sent there."

"No, not me, send George!" George protested, pointing frantically at Brad, who only shook his head.

"Trying to pull that old stunt again George?" asked Brad in bemusement. "Well it's not going to work this time."

"You're going tonight," George's father said severely, before looking over to his good son. "Brad, do you mind watching over George for a minute? I just need to get a few things, because I will personally take him to Military camp."

"Of course dad," replied Brad politely.

With that confirmed, his father went up to his room to get some things. Once he returned, he proceeded to take the real George away.

"Have fun at Military camp George!" called Brad and Rosie in unison, as they each waved goodbye to their brother.

"And make sure you listen to every instruction!" Brad added cheekily. "They don't take kindly to those who disobey the rules!"

George snarled in extreme anger under his breath as his face went beet red in humiliation as he and his father left the house.

"You both haven't seen the last of me!" he shouted from the doorway. "I'll be back somehow! You'll see, YOU'LL SEE!"

"Be quiet George!" George's father voice snapped, pulling his son out the door.

Once they were gone, Rosie and Brad's mother turned to her son while looking positively ashamed.

"Brad honey," she started. "I'm so sorry for not believing you for-"

"It's okay mom," Brad interrupted. "I'm just so happy to be home with you, dad, and Rosie again."

His mother left the kitchen for a minute, and the green-haired young man walked over to Thomas.

"I want to thank you Thomas, for protecting my sister," he said gratefully. "You are a very brave young man. And I think we could become great friends."

Brad held out his left hand. Thomas held his right hand and shook hands with Brad.

"I'm always glad to help a friend in need," Thomas stated, before he checked his watch. "Wow, look at the time. I'd better get home before my friends start to really worry. Emily and I will both come by later with the rest of your stuff, okay Rosie?"

"Okay Thomas," Rosie nodded. "Thank you so much for letting me stay with you."

"Anytime," Thomas replied, while giving a thumbs up.

With that, Thomas left the house and headed off for Knapford Station. This left Brad and Rosie alone to talk and catch up on old times.

After another forty minutes of travelling, the blue-haired boy finally arrived back home. Inside the house, Emily, Percy, James, Edward, Annie, and Clarabel were all still patiently waiting for him, while also looking greatly worried by now. Soon, the front door opened and Thomas arrived safe and sound. Emily, Percy James, Edward, Annie and Clarabel were all greatly relived.

"Oh Thomas!" Emily cried as she ran over and embraced her friend. "Thank goodness you're safe!"

"Easy Emily," said Thomas calmly. "I'm still feeling a little sore from that last fight."

"Sorry, I forgot about that."

"We're all glad you're safe," Edward spoke up.

"So, what happened?" asked James. "Is everything okay now? And where is Rosie?"

"Is she okay?" Percy added.

After taking a minute to calm his friends down, Thomas explained all that had happened, much to everyone's shock.

"Wow, who would've guessed that the mysterious shadow person was the real Brad," Emily commented when Thomas finished telling of the events that day, "while the boy living with Rosie all those years was none other than their horrible, monstrous brother George."

"Certainly surprised me," Percy admitted.

"Either way, he's gotten his just desserts," James said. "Maybe when he gets out of Military camp in the next ten or so years, he'll be a well behaved person."

"Well, we won't know for quite a while James," Thomas chuckled. "Now, who's hungry? I'm cooking tonight."

"Me!" announced Edward, James, Emily, Annie, and Clarabel, all raising a hand in the air.

"I'm hungry too, but I have to go home for dinner," Percy said. "I'll see you guys at school on Monday."

With that, the green-haired boy left the house. This left the rest of the teenagers to enjoy themselves.

While waiting for dinner, Edward and James both helped out by setting the table in the dining room. In the kitchen, Thomas and Emily were both busy cooking the meal in the kitchen.

"Later, I have to go drop off Rosie's things back at her house. Do you mind helping me?" Thomas asked Emily.

"I don't mind at all," The green-haired girl agreed, while smiling. "I'm always glad to help you Thomas."

But she blushed slightly when she saw Thomas giving her a flirting smile.

"She looks cute when she blushes," Thomas thought to himself.

After a while, dinner was finally ready (Ravioli, Spaghetti and meatballs, Lasagna, Caesar Salad, and Garlic Bread). Annie, Clarabel, Edward, and James all sat down to eat, but they still politely decided to wait for Thomas and Emily to sit down. Speaking of whom, the blue-haired boy and dark green-haired girl were both upstairs in Thomas' room getting all of Rosie's things ready to go. Once they were all finished packing everything up, the two teens went to join their friends downstairs in the dining room for dinner.

"Italian food," James smirked, while sniffing the food, to which all of it smelled wonderful. "Good choice tonight Thomas."

"Thanks James," Thomas replied, feeling humbled by the compliment.

After dinner, and both James and Edward had left to return to their respective homes, Thomas and Emily left the house to go to Rosie's place with her things.

She was very happy to see her two friends arriving.

"Thank you for bringing all my stuff back," The pink-haired girl said kindly to the two teens. "And thanks again for letting me stay with you guys."

"You're very welcome Rosie," Emily smiled.

"And Emily, I hope that you too can one day go home again, and don't worry, your secret is safe with me." Rosie winked her right eye at the dark green-haired girl.

"Thank you."

After being introduced to the real Brad, Emily and Thomas both headed off back to Knapford station.

"Thomas, um..." Emily started to speak up.

"What is it Emily?" Thomas asked.

"Well I...I..." Emily was finding it hard to speak. "When I finally get to go home, I promise you that I'll give you a tour of the place, okay?"

"Sure Emily, that sounds great," Thomas smiled. "Are you ready to go home?"

Then, very surprising to Emily, Thomas grabbed onto her right hand and held it with his left hand.

"I am," The dark green-haired girl nodded nervously.

Throughout the entire walk to Knapford station, Thomas and Emily's hands never once let go. At the station, Donald and Douglas both showed up. Thomas told them everything, and they were shocked when he had finished explaining everything, just like everyone else before them.

"At least yon Rosie can sleep in her own bed again," said Douglas slowly and in relief.

"Got that right," Thomas agreed.

"So what are you two up to tonight?" Emily asked.

"We're heading' oof fer home naw," said Donald, "Douggie and me have been doin' some grocery shoppin'."

"We we'e nearly oot of food," chuckled Douglas and showed off his bags of food.

Thomas and Emily both chuckled before hearing a loud whistle. They looked behind them and saw that a main line passenger train was coming in. It slowed down and came to a smooth stop.

"We'll see you both at school tomorrow!" Thomas and Emily both said in unison, just before getting into the carriages.

About five minutes later, the guard's whistle blew and the train pulled slowly out of the station. It was right around then Emily spoke to her blue-haired friend.

"Hey Thomas, I know I've said this countless times before, but I just can't thank you enough for allowing me to stay with you and your family."

"You're welcome Emily," Thomas smiled and once again held onto Emily's hand.

The dark green-haired girl just smiled and leaned back to rest.

"I'm so lucky to have a wonderful friend like Thomas," she thought to herself. "I just wonder if he has feelings for me..."

As the train left, someone came walking out onto the platform. He had a metal claw for an arm and an evil grin on his face.

"Enjoy your later moments together fools. I'll wipe those smiles off your faces very soon, just you wait and see." And the man let out an evil sinister laugh that echoed around the entire station. "Ohh yes, just you wait and see."
