Chapter 12: The Ticket Master: Ticket Disaster
The next day was a beautiful day as the Apple Family had just given Spyro the day off from work as he worked like a dog for them for the past week and probably didn't want to overwork their new prince. He told them he didn't require any special treatment as he was more than willing to do his fair share of work, but they insisted that he be given the day off. Though he was great full to them for the day off as it would give him a chance to look at his new Gummi garage, which when he got there, he was furious as it wasn't a fully assembled garage like he though, but the tools and materials needed to build it. He didn't mind the hard labor, but wished Axel would have stayed and helped him to build the blasted thing as it would have made everything a lot easier on him. He shook his head and decided to just get to work building the thing, opening the box and pulling out the blue prints so he can find out what he needed to do first.
At the other side of the orchard, Applejack and Twilight were collecting apples and were putting them in the carts so they could bring them back to the barn and sell later. However, her mind was still on Spyro and him asking her out for dinner, her heart fluttering everytime she thought about it, but also worried as she didn't have anything elegant or fancy as he said he knew a place that had excellent food, making her become anxious by the thought of it.
"Applejack, Equestria to Applejack." Twilight said, snapping her friend out of her thoughts. "You ok? You seem distracted today."
"Oh, uh, sorry Twilight." Applejack replied. "Just got something on mah mind, that's all. Anyway, Ah appreciate yer help in collecting these apples. Ah bet Big Mac that if Ah get all these apples done by lunch time, he's going to have to walk through Ponyville in one of granny's girdles!"
"It's no problem AJ." Twilight replied. "But where is his majesty, Spyro? Isn't he supposed to be working for you?"
"Oh, Granny gave him the day off." Applejack replied. "Plus, he doesn't like his friends to refer to him by any royal title, just to call him Spyro. As for where he's at, he's at him Gummi garage Ah think. Said something about needing to work on it."
"Hey, maybe we should go visit him." Spike said, tossing apples out of Twilights cart looking for a specific apple. "He probably would like some company if he's working on his garage."
"That's a great idea!" Twilight said, immediately agreeing to the idea. "Maybe he'd like some lunch too . I'm starving."
The two mares dropped the apples off at the barn and headed over to the garage, which was close to the barn, near the silo, which was still a ways away, but close enough for them to walk. When they approached, they stopped and saw floating metal beams and small lights producing sparks and jacks riveting them together. At the front, Spyro was standing on his hind legs and was using his dragon paws to lift and move the beams using the Force while he used his aura to control the jacks and whatever was making the sparks.
"Ah'm never going to get used to that." Applejack said as they approached. "Him and his Force, freaks me out everytime he uses it."
"Well, it's actually interesting." Twilight said. "I for one would relish the opportunity to learn more about it."
"Well, be mah guest." Applejack said. "The more Ah try to understand it, the more mah brain hurts."
Spyro had just finished putting on the final beam for the frame work of his garage and was putting the tools down so he could take a break. He stretched a bit and set back down on all fours before turning around, seeing the girls walking up with Spike on Twilights back.
"Oh, hey AJ, Twilight, Spike." Spyro said, turning around. "What's up?"
"Oh, we just thought you might want some company." Twilight replied. "And what are you working on? Where your garage?"
"This is it." Spyro replied, pointing at the large frame, twice as big as Applejacks Barn. "Axel dropped off the materials and machines for the Gummi garage, leaving me alone to build it myself."
"What!?" Applejack said, shocked he was building it on his own. "Ya'll need any help? Ah'd be more than happy to."
"Nah, I got this." Spyro replied. "Besides, don't want any of you to get hurt."
A moment later, Spikes cheeks blew up, trying to hold in something before burping and green flames shot out, making both Twilight and Spyro duck before the two of them could be barbecued by a case of gastritis. Out of the flame though was a scroll appearing in mid air, Twilight grabbing it with her aura and unrolling the piece of parchment to read what was written on it.
"It's a letter from the princess." Twilight said, reading what was written, only to screech like a little school girl. "She's invited me to the Grand Galloping Gala and a guest."
"Did ya say the Grand Galloping Gala!?" Applejack said, just as excited as Twilight.
Both girls cheered and stomped their hooves into the ground, only to leave Spyro confused while Spike looked disgusted and gagged, only to burp out three golden tickets.
"Wait, I thought she said you and a guest?" Spyro asked. "Why are there three tickets? Did she make a mistake?"
"No mistake here." Twilight replied. "She has also invited you to the gala Spyro so the elite of Equestrian could get to meet you."
"Ugh, meet the 'Elite' of Equestria?" Spyro asked. "I'm not much on business or politics Twilight. I try to avoid that as there is too much drama there."
"But the princess invited you." Twilight pointed out. "It would be rude to not accept."
"You have a point there." Spyro said. "But, pardon my ignorance, but what is the Grand Galloping Gala?"
"You don't know!?" Twilight said, tackling and pinning Spyro to the ground. "How the heck do you not know what the gala is?" He gave her a 'Are you serious?' look and pointed to the sky, making both mares look up and making Twilight laugh nervously, remembering he isn't from their world. "Oh, yeah. Sorry, forgot about that."
"The gala is some dumb ball that is held in Canterlot every year." Spike replied while Twilight got off Spyro. "It's where stuck up nobles get to meet the princess, talking about some stupid business deals, and even listen to some boring music and eat crumby food."
"Spike, it's more than just a gathering for the nobles and elite!" Twilight replied. "Everypony across Equestria has been trying to buy tickets for the gala for a long time. It's the biggest event in all of Equestria!"
"Ah've always wanted to go to the gala." Applejack said. "But for a different reason. Ah want to set up an Apple stand at the gala and givin' them ponies some good eatin'. I'd even be able to sell my family recipes make some big business there. Why, Ah'd have enough money to fix the entire farm. Ah'd be able to fix that rickety old barn roof, replace that rusty plow, even give Granny Smith a new hip!"
Spyro tried to imagine Granny Smith with a new hip and being able to run around and hop and jump, but couldn't imagine it. But then thought about Applejacks reasoning for going to the gala and thought that it was a good idea as her family's recipes were very delicious and it would be a big hit at the gala is the food is as bland as Spike said it would be.
"I think that's a great idea AJ." Spyro said. "I'm sure your food would be a smash hit."
"I also think it's a good idea." Twilight said, grabbing the other two tickets. "And since Spyro already has one, I think I can give-"
She was interrupted by a rainbow blur coming down and crashing, landing right on top of Spyro. Rainbow Dash smiled like an idiot while standing on top of the crumpled form of the prince.
"Did I hear you have two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala?" She asked excitedly.
"Yes I do." Twilight replied. "But how did you know? Were you spying on us?"
"Oh, I always wanted to go to the gala!" She said excitedly, ignoring Twilights questions. "The Wonderbolts attend the gala every year performing for the elite!" She was so excited that she ignored the hybrid pony grumble to himself and she sat on his back. "If I can show them my moves, I'm sure they will ask me to join them!"
Twilight was baffled at the rainbow Pegasi and her selfish reasoning for wanting to attend the gala. All of a sudden, Spyro got up, lifting the star struck mare on his back and spun around, making a twister and making Rainbow Dash yelp as she was being spun around like a top. A moment later, Spyro hopped out and allowed the rainbow twister to continue spinning until it spun into his constructions site, scaring him as she bounced off the metal support beams like a pinball until she came back out and stopped, completely dizzy while the word 'Tilt' appeared above the building.
"Huh. Did a better job than I thought." Spyro said. "Anyway, Rainbow, why'd you decide to crash on top of me and stand on me?"
"Dude, you and I really need to race again." Rainbow Dash said, ignoring his question. "With that speed, you'd definitely would come in second behind me."
"Oh come on I was way ahead of you in that race!" Spyro snapped back. "I would have won if that Battleship didn't take a shot at you."
"Oh yeah? Says you!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed, both of them leering into each other's eyes, physical lightning could be seen being exchanged between them.
"Will you two stop." Twilight said, breaking them up. "Besides, I'm sure you have a good reason for wanting to go Rainbow Dash, but-"
"She promised them to me!" Applejack shouted, pulling Rainbow Dashes tail. "Ah was the first one to call dibs on them."
"Oh yeah, I don't see your name on them!" Rainbow Dash said. "I should get them!"
"Hoof wrestle ya for them." Applejack said.
"You're on!" Rainbow Dash replied. The two mares then ran to a nearby stump and started to hoof wrestle each other, somehow equally matched in strength.
Spyro shook his head, disapproving of the two grown up mares arguing like a bunch of fillies over a couple of tickets that belong to Twilight. He looked over and saw her shake her head as well, also disapproving of her friends bickering over her tickets.
"Come on Twilight, let's get some lunch." Spyro said. "I'm already ahead of schedule to complete the garage and I want to get away from these two fighting fillies."
Twilight nodded her head, agreeing with Spyro and they left the fighting mares, heading into town to get something to eat. As they walked, Spyro kept an eye out for a place where they could find some food while Twilight just stared at her tickets, contemplating who she should take as Applejack had a good reason for wanting to go to the gala while Rainbow Dash also wanted to go and show off her moves to the Wonderbolts. She was so engrossed in her own thoughts that she didn't hear Spyro warn her before ramming straight into Pinkie, the tickets floating down until they landed on the pink earth pony's muzzle.
"Are those...?" Pinkie asked, reading the text on the tickets and then gasping in absolute joy. "Tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala!"
"Let me guess, you want to go to the gala too?" Spyro asked, helping Twilight back onto her hooves.
"Of course I do!" Pinkie shouted, suddenly pulling Spyro into someplace else, which was complete insanity as it appeared to be Canterlot. She was zipping around talking all about the amazing party things she would get to see at the gala.
"Pinkie, where did you take me?" Spyro asked, trying to keep a sound mind. "What is this place?!"
[Pinkie Pie]
Oh the Grand Galloping Gala! It's the best place for me! Oh the Grand Galloping Gala! It's the best place for me! Hip! Hip! Hooray!
It's the best place for me! For Pinkie!
Spyro was looking around as the scenery changed to a blue and green back ground with confetti, streamers, and balloons falling and flying every where.
"Pinkie, I wanna go back now!" Spyro said, his mind melting at what was, only for his pleas to fall on deaf ears.
"With decorations like streamers and fairy-lights and pinwheels and piñatas and pincushions!" Pinkie smacked a piñata shaped like a teddy bear with a massive stick, sending candy goods everywhere, much to Spyro's dismay as it transitioned them to another location with tables with candies. "And goodies like sugar cubes and sugar canes and sundaes and sunbeams and sarsaparilla! And I get to play my favorite-est of favorite games, Pin the tail on the Pony!"
However, when Pinkie pined the tail on the paper pony, it was her tail that was pinned up there instead of the paper tail, which this itself melted his mind completely.
"WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?!?!?" Spyro shouted. "What is this insanity!?"
Oh the Grand Galloping Gala is the best place for me! Oh the Grand Galloping Gala is the best place for me! Because it's the most galariffic superbly-terrific gala in the whole galaxy! Whee!
She floated up to the sky while attached to balloons, holding Spyro as she went up, whose eyes were blood shot and curled into the fetal position, mumbling to himself. When they returned to the real world, Spyro was still curled up into a ball, shaking as his mind had just exploded from what he saw, starting to sing Wheels on the Bus, making Twilight worry for her friend.
"Pinkie, what happened to him!?" Twilight asked. "He looks like a complete wreck!"
"Whoops. Thought he was able to handle what goes on up here." Pinkie said, pointing to her head. "Guess even he has his limits of silliness."
"I've seen madness from the world where all logic is turned tipsy turvy." Spyro said, getting both mares attention, looking up at Pinkie. "But what I just saw, trumps what that world has!" He rolled over to Pinkie and yanked her head down to where their eyes met, Pinkie seeing only madness in his. "You... How does your brain work? How are you still sane? How!? HOW!?"
"Yep. I made him insane." Pinkie said, yanking her head away from him. "Guess I better fix that."
She reached over to her right and pulled the scenes over to her, splitting the the world in half and revealing another Spyro who was working on finishing up his Gummi garage where he had tools laid out on the tables with a massive hammer in the center of it.
"Can I borrow this hammer real quick?" Pinkie asked.
"Sure thing Pinkie." Spyro said.
Pinkie then took the hammer and left, letting everything go back to normal and her returning to Spyro and Twilight, holding the hammer in her mouth, watching a distressed Spyro rocking back and forth, trying to calm his mind down. A moment later, she raised the hammer and brought it down as hard as she could, nailing Spyro in the head and turning him into the shape of a literal nail and he sunk into the ground, his head just above the surface of the ground. A moment later, she pulled the scenes again and popped her head back over to the other Spyro, who looked at her in confusion as she dropped the hammer back onto the table.
"Thank you." Pinkie said, returning to Twilight and the original Spyro, letting the scenes go back to normal again.
Twilight was just looking at the over excited party mare, confused about what she did and what Spyro saw that made him go insane, but was snapped out of her thoughts when Spyro groaned and pulled himself out of the ground, clutching his head as a nasty bump was forming on top of his head.
"What happened?" Spyro asked, rubbing his head. "Feels like I got hit by a grand piano. What went on without me?"
"Oh nothing much." Pinkie replied. "All I did was sing a song about what I would do at the gala."
"Oh." Spyro said, using his aura to take the tickets off Pinkie's snout and hand them back to Twilight. But a moment later, a blue aura surrounded them and both the tickets and Spyro were pulled away by force, dragging him through the dirt until he had a mouth full of dirt.
"Tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala!?" Rarity exclaimed squealing in excitement. "Why, I've designed many dresses for the gala, but never got to attend."
"Oh no." Twilight groaned as another of her friends wanted to attend the gala for their own need.
"Oh, how I dreamed of attending the Gala." Rarity said, stars in her eyes. "Canterlot. The culture and society... and it is where I am destined to meet... him."
"Who?" Spyro asked, standing next to an anxious Twilight.
"Princess Blueblood." Rarity replied. "Princess Celestia's nephew. A handsome prince and an eligible unicorn bachelor stallion. I would arrive at the ball, wearing my best made gown that I have specifically made for the Gala, and our eyes would meet." She started swooning, a deep blush on her face, making the stallion and the two mares question what was going on in her head. "And we would fall in love, he will court me like the gentlecoult he is, and then, once the time is right, he will ask me for my hoof in marriage, and of course, I would say yes. A royal wedding for the two of us."
While she was lost in her daydream of her perfect wedding and a life with her perfect stallion, Spyro just took the tickets from her, letting her have her daydream in peace.
"Yeah... let's hope he is as you believe him to be." Spyro said, skeptical about this prince. "Cause if not, you might end up being very disappointed."
He was returning the tickets to Twilight when a white rabbit hopped out of no where and snagged them, running off away from the group.
"Oh come on!" Spyro said. "What is this, Wonderland?"
Spyro and Twilight ran after the bunny, which Spyro used some of his magic to slow the rabbit down to catch him, but the little mammal was able to hp over the bumps he made, dodge his ice magic, even to duck underneath him when he tried to catch him while flying. Everytime the little rabbit managed to evade them until he hopped onto Fluttershy's back and present the tickets.
"Fluttershy!" Spyro shouted, catching up with the small white rodent. "I'm sorry about what I'm gonna say, but that little white rat stole Twilights Gala tickets."
"The Grand Galloping Gala?" Fluttershy said, sounding excited even though she was usually quiet. "Oh Angel, that's perfect."
"Angel?" Spyro asked. "That's his name?"
"Oh yes." Fluttershy replied. "Angel is my pet bunny. Isn't he a dear?"
As soon as she said that, the bunny rapidly stomped his foot on her head, annoyed at being called a dear.
"Right..." Spyro said, not sure if a rabbit with an attitude was a good pet. "Anyway, I'm pretty sure what you want to do at the gala, but I'm going to let you say what it is."
"Oh, yes." Fluttershy said, smiling. "It's not the gala itself I'm interested in. It's the royal gardens." Spyro rolled his eyes, calling it as it was probably the one place she has any interest in. "The gardens in Canterlot have some of the most beautiful flowers. And even a bunch of cute little creatures that have never been seen in Equestria before. I want to go to the gala, meet every single one of them, and be their friend."
"Riiiiight..." Spyro said. "Well, they are technically Twilights tickets, so it's her choice who she takes. So, I'll be needing those back please."
Spyro took the tickets back from Angel and turned to give them back to her, but a certain rainbow maned Pegasus was looking him dead in the eye, not looking too happy.
"So, thought you could run off with the tickets for yourself, your majesty!?" Rainbow Dash asked, annoyed about something.
"I don't need these tickets Rainbow." Spyro replied, pulling out his own ticket. "The princess gave these tickets to myself and Twilight, so I'm good." He put his ticket back in his inside coat pocket and returned to stare at Rainbow Dash. "Besides, I can tell Applejack won the hoof wrestling match and you want to take the tickets first before she came."
Rainbow Dash looked even angrier as he said it, getting his answer right there and then.
"Give me those tickets!" Rainbow Dash shouted, lunging at Spyro, but he moved so fast out of the way, it appeared he teleported out of the way.
"Hold on there Rainbow Dash." Applejack said, running up to them. "Twilight promised me those tickets!"
"No me!" Pinkie shouted, with eh rest of their friends circling Twilight.
They started to argue with each other over who was to get the extra ticket, to be Twilight's plus one for the gala. Spyro looked at his friends, disappointed at how they were acting, but then saw Twilight curled up into a ball, on the brink of a panic attack as she was never use to having friends at all and having an argument over something as petty as tickets. Without a moments notice, he looked to the sky and summoned a couple of storm clouds, calling a bolt of lightning down onto himself, silencing everyone as they ducked for cover.
"THATS ENOUGH!" Spyro shouted, getting their attention as the electrical aura around him faded, the sky clearing up again. "I told you guys before, and I'll tell you again. These are Twilights tickets and it's her choice what she does with them. That means she will decide who gets them and who doesn't." He then put the tickets into his inner coat pocket to hold onto them, keeping them safe for Twilight. "Until a decision is made, I will be hanging onto the tickets for Twilight. And she needs time to think without anyone pressuring her with anything to sway her decision."
"Why should you hang onto them?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Because as I told you, I already have my ticket." Spyro replied. "So I'll be the neutral party who will protect them. Plus, we are her first real friends when she came to this town, so arguing in front of her, pressuring her to give one of you the extra ticket isn't going to make her decision easy. Please, be patient and she will give you her answer later."
The five mares looked at each other, understanding what Spyro was saying and nodded, leaving them be. Twilight got up and walked over to Spyro, still shaking from the fight she witnessed and helped her to the closet restaurant that they could find. At the restaurant, he was surprised at the assortment of flower based meals, trying to find something for himself, but finding nothing he liked.
"Man, this is going to suck." Spyro said. "Guess I can do a Carnation Sandwich with fries." Spyro said, letting the waiter know what he wanted.
"Just a daffodil and daisy sandwich for me." Twilight said, gloomier than anything else, sending the waiter to get their meals.
"Twilight, don't let what happened earlier get to you." Spyro said, sensing her fears and anxiety. "They're each very excited to have a chance to go to the gala. They just don't understand how much stress it is causing you."
"Thanks Spyro, but I can't think straight." Twilight replied. "They each have their reason to go to the gala. AJ with the need to sell some of her families apples, Rainbow Dash to meet the Wonderbolts, Pinkie wanting to see the party decorations and have fun, Rarity to meet her prince, and Fluttershy to get to see the rare animals in the royal gardens. Ugh, I can't think straight."
"Twilight..." He started to say when the waiter came by with their food. "You mustn't let yourself get stressed out about it. A mind clouded by fear and anxiety is one that will lead ruin."
"And what am I supposed to do then?" Twilight asked, eating her sandwich. "How is it that you are so calm and collected all the time when fighting a bunch of Heartless and when our friends are arguing over the tickets?"
"Because I learned a long time ago, a clear mind is a better mind." Spyro responded, pulling out the Jedi Holocron, spiking Twilights curiosity. "I learned much about the Force and some of its strengths and abilities thanks to this. It also taught me how to calm my mind, let go of my rage, the way of the Jedi."
"Jedi?" Twilight asked, pulling out a quill and some parchment. "What are Jedi?"
"Sir, miss." The waiter said. "Are you going to eat your meal in the rain?"
"Rain?" Spyro asked. "What rain? It's a beautiful day to-"
His sentenced ended when he saw that it was raining around them while at their table it was sunny and clear. Spyro groaned, knowing who would possibly have the gal to do something like this and looked up, finding Rainbow Dash waving at them.
"Ugh, looks like someone didn't listen to me." Spyro said, devouring his sandwich in one bite.
"Hey there guys." Rainbow Dash said. "Didn't want my two bestest friends in Equestria to have their lunch in such crumby weather.":
"Rainbow Dash, what did I just tell you?" Spyro asked. "No peer pressure."
"This isn't peer pressure!" Rainbow Dash said. "Just want my friends to finish their lunch. But, speaking about the tickets..."
Shaking his head in disapproval, he used the Force and lifted Rainbow Dash a bit before moving the cloud, letting her go. Smirking, she flapped her wings and stopped mid air, thinking she outsmarted him, but saw his Keyblade and a dark light hit her, making her fall to the ground with a loud thud.
"Rainbow, this is not going to help her make her decision any easier." Spyro said. "Just close that rain cloud up and please leave us be."
"Ugh, fine." Rainbow Dash groan,ed flying back up to the cloud and sealing the hole, making it sound like a zipper.
Satisfied, he looked back at Twilight, only for her to try and take another bite, but the rain ended up ruining her sandwich, making her growl in annoyance. He face hooves himself, not thinking about what might happen if she did close the opening.
"Twilight, Spyro, you two do realize it's raining." Rarity asked, walking by with an umbrella on her glamorous saddle.
"You don't say." Twilight said, leering at Spyro for suggesting Rainbow Dash zip the cloud up.
"Come with me before you two catch cold." Rarity said, using her magic to grab the trio.
They arrived at the Carousel Boutique where Rarity had gotten towels for them to dry off, only for Spyro to just increase his body heat to evaporate the water while Twilight just shook like a dog, shaking the water off her, but soaking Rarity by accident.
"Whoops, sorry Rarity." Twilight said.
"Oh, it's alright Twilight." Rarity said, drying herself off. "Besides, we're friends, right?"
"Rarity!" Spyro said, giving her a warning tone.
"Oh come on Spyro, just want to help her get a dress for the Gala." Rarity said. "Besides, I'm sure she'll look lovely after a Makeover!"
As soon as she said that, she pulled a screen over and knocked him and Spike away into the next room to wait for her to finish helping Twilight try a dress. When he got his senses back, Spyro sat up and looked over to Spike, who shrugged not knowing what to say, but Spyro knew what he needed to do. He pulled out a book from his bag and flipped through the pages until he found something he knew would help Twilight get some peace and to help her think.
"And viola!" Rarity said, drawing both the guys eyes.
Spyro's jaw dropped when he saw Twilight in the dress Rarity had put her in, finding it to be beautiful on her, but then he thought about Applejack and walked over to the two mares, completely speechless. Rarity saw him walking over and knew she had him hooked at Twilight so she wouldn't be disturbed when she while she tried to get the tickets.
"Rarity, it's gorgeous." Spyro said, awe struck.
"Why thank you Spyro." Rarity said. "It took some time to get it ready. And I have a second one made just like it. Twilight and I could be twins."
As soon as she said it, Twilight had gotten the dress off and threw it to the ground.
"Rarity, this is not helping me to make my decision any easier." Twilight said. "Now if you excuse me, I've been trying all day to get some food."
She turned around and left the room, leaving Spyro and rarity alone. She started to pick the dress up, but Spyro walked up to her, pulling out a punch of bits.
"How much for the dress?" Spyro asked, surprising Rarity. "I think it'll look perfect on a certain mare I know."
"Why Spyro, I hardly know you." Rarity said, blushing and batting her eyes at him.
"Oh no, it's for Applejack." Spyro said, shattering Rarity's fantasy. "I asked her out to dinner next week and I want to take her to the best Bistro I know of in all the worlds."
"Oh, really?" Rarity asked, feeling crushed by how he said he was going out with Applejack. "Well, come with me and we can get it fitted for her and paid for."
Once the transaction was complete, Spyro walked out and saw Twilight running away from Applejack and a whole cart of food, which he could guess what Applejack was doing, shaking his head in disappointment. He walked up to Applejack and saw she was cleaning up a piece of what might be cake, which was his guess, and putting it into a trash can as it was ruined by the dirt.
"AJ, not you too." Spyro said, disappointed by the farm mare. "These favors aren't helping her ya know."
"But Ah really want to go to the Gala." Applejack replied. "Ah just want to make enough money to help fix up the barn."
"And it's a worthy endeavor." Spyro said. "But is it worth upsetting one of your best friends and making her unsure of who to take?"
He left Applejack behind, leaving her to think about what he said while he caught up with Twilight, but noticed the pale blue box, wondering what was inside of it. As Spyro approached the Golden Oak Library, he saw Fluttershy coming out of the library with all her animals, seeing a bunch of cleaning supplies with her.
"Not you too Fluttershy." Spyro said, catching her attention. "What were you doing in the library?"
"Oh, I was cleaning it for Twilight." She replied. "It was dusty and I wanted to do some spring cleaning. But, she came running in, tears going down her face and ran to her room. Is she ok?"
"No, she isn't." Spyro replied. "She's frustrated and overwhelmed with everyone of her friends doing her favors. It's making her ability to choose very difficult for her. She just needs to be alone for a while and to clear her head."
Fluttershy looked at him and nodded her head, understanding what he was saying and left. As he was about to enter the library, a certain pink pony just pulled him back, making him drop the box he had on his back onto the ground.
[Pinkie Pie]
Spyro is my bestest friend. Whoopie, whoopie!
"Pinkie." Spyro said, being tossed into the air by a group of ponies.
He's the strongest, smartest, coolest, all around best pony, pony!
"Pinkie." Spyro said, starting to get annoyed.
I bet if I throw a super-duper fun party, party!
"Pinkie!" He said again, but this time a little louder and anger growing in his voice.
He'll give Twilight's extra Gala ticket to meeeeeeeee!
"PINKIE!!!" Spyro shouted, flapping his wings and flames coming off his mane, getting everyone to back away as he landed. Landing on his hooves, he took a few deep breaths, extinguishing the planes, and glared at the random pink earth pony. "At least the others were more subtle about it, but you singing about the extra ticket is just asking everyone to do favors for Twilight."
"What ticket?" One mare asked, making Spyro cover his mouth, but the damage was already done.
"Oh, Spyro is holding onto Twilight's extra ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala." Pinkie replied.
"Pinkie if there is a switch that keeps you from talking in that brain of your, I'm going to find it!" Spyro said, glaring at the party mare even more.
As soon as Pinkie blabbed about the ticket, groups of mares came running, asking him if they could do a favor for him to get the ticket. Without thinking, he leaped over the crowd of mares and ran straight into the town to try and loose them. He rounded a corner and hopped into a barrel, hiding from the mares as they blindly passed him and picked up the barrel, thinking it was a clever way to hide, tip toeing away until a straggler spotted him and called out to the others his location.
He jumped out of the barrel and ran around another corner and found a display case with suits and other clothing, not as good as Rarity's, but an idea popped into his head. Rushing into the store, he quickly put on a suit and a drew a fake mustache, posing as a rich pony, which the mares ran past, falling for the disguise. He got back outside, but the same straggler called out where he was, making him run away again, but this time he found a trench coat and a pair of silly glasses with a mustache on it, putting them on and getting a hat to hide his horns. The mares asked him where he went and pointed in the direction they were already going, falling for that again.
This time, he waited for the straggler to pass him and she did, giggling to himself as he just got away from the crowd, taking off the disguise, but another straggler saw him and called him out, making him groan at his luck. He ran again and this time ran to one of the four bridges, hiding underneath it as the mob of mares ran over the bridge and away from him, sighing in relief, but falling into the water, getting their attention. He got out of the water and ran again, but was running out of places to run as he reached a dead end. He looked behind him and saw the mares talking about doing him favors, so he decided to do something he hoped would work.
"Multiply!" Spyro shouted, dozens of identical clones appeared behind him, confusing the mares as they didn't know which was the real one when they got to him
He then flew into the air and was followed by his clones as they flew around the original him, flying around him making a sphere to hide him and then all flying off into multiple directions, breaking the mob off as they chased who they thought was the real one. But in reality, Spyro was just transparent on a nearby cloud, grateful that he found that spell or else he'd be having a very lousy day.
"I am so going to get Pinkie for this!" Spyro said as he flew back to the library. But when he reached the library and went inside to check on Twilight, he saw the girls in there waiting for her answer.
"Oh, hey Spyro. What happened to you?" Pinkie asked.
"You know what happened Pinkie." Spyro hissed, tired from the running and using two spells at the same time. "What the heck are you girls doing here?"
Before he could get his answer, Twilight walked down with a parchment and quill, writing something on it, but looked in Spyro's direction, seeing him in a state of complete exhaustion.
"Spyro what happened to you?" Twilight asked, running down the stairs.
"Had to use two spells at once to loose a mob of desperate mares trying to get your extra ticket." Spyro replied, removing the tickets from his jacket. "Please tell me you made a decision because I can't stand being chased again."
"I have." Twilight said, taking the tickets. "I decided no one gets them."
The girls gasped and were about to ask why, but Twilight turned to them, a sorrowful look in her eyes and she faced them.
"It's not because I am angry with them." Twilight said. "I want to make everypony happy and take them all to the Gala, but I can't make everyone happy. I don't want to disappoint my friends with the limited blessings I have to give out to them as I couldn't stand myself if I wasn't able to make everyone happy."
Spyro smiled and pulled his ticket out, putting it in the envelope with the tickets Twilight took, confusing her.
"I agree with you Twilight." Spyro said. "It's true that I am a prince, but I also have limited blessings and can't make everyone happy. I'd rather be with my friends here were we can have some actual fun than be at some dumb ball where I'd probably fall asleep at the first table I come to."
He then turned to his friends, seeing the disappointment in their faces, but they then smiled and walked up to them, hugging them both just as Spike sent the message.
"In that letter is exactly what I said." Twilight said. "Sorry to disappoint you girls."
"Nah, it's us who should be asking you for forgiveness Twilight." Applejack said. "All we've been doin' was pressuring you into making a decision when we didn't even consider the stress we were causing ya. Ah'm Sorry."
"So am I." Fluttershy said, hugging Twilight before remembering something, ending the hug. "Oh, Spyro. I found this on the ground outside the library when I returned." She walked over to a nearby shelf and pulled the blue box he had out, putting it on the nearby table. "Figured you might want it back."
"Oh, thanks Fluttershy." Spyro said. "Was kind of worried about it."
"What's in the box!?" Pinkie Exclaimed, hopping up and down.
"It's a surprise." Spyro replied, smiling. "Something for a certain somepony."
The girls all whispered to each other, wondering what was in the box and who it was for, but Rarity was the only other one who knew what was inside, jealous of her friend Applejack for getting a date with a prince first. A minute later, Spike was clutching his stomach, trying to keep from burping, which Spyro shook his head and walked over.
"Come on Spike, do be so insensitive." Spyro said. "Nothing wrong with some hugs from your friends."
Spike then burped, almost toasting Spyro as there was another message from her.
"Dude we need to find a way for you to let us know when you're getting a message." Spyro said. "Otherwise, we won't know if it's that or you got a stomach bug. And I bet no one wants to become toasted pony. Might end up barfing up some lava or something."
"I don't puke lava!" Spike said, annoyed by Spyro's comment, opening the scroll, reading it.. "My faithful student, why did you just say so?" Underneath the scroll, Spike pulled out seven golden tickets. "Seven tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala!"
"That means we cal all go!" Rainbow Dash shouted, everyone cheering as they can all fulfill what they wanted to do at the gala.
A moment later, Twilights stomach growled so loud that everyone could hear it, letting them know she was starving.
"Twilight, let us treat you to dinner." Rarity said. "As an apology for pressuring you."
"That would be great." Twilight replied, everyone leaving with their tickets.
Spike put Spyro's ticket in his pocket when another one appeared for Spike when he burped again, excited to be able to attend. He looked up at Spyro, who looked like he was ready to kill something as his eye twitched and he started to get Sith eyes.
"Spyro, you ok?" Spike asked, not being told about Spyro and his abilities.
"Just fine." Spyro said, calming down as he waved his hoof, a small box appearing at his hooves, spooking Spike. "Just going to let it go. Just going to let it go." Spike shrugged his shoulders, thinking was ok and ran out, laughing as he held it out. "I am so going to get her for this!"
