"For as long as Nolan Grayson had come to Earth, he has seek to protect the planet from all kinds of threats. More or less make sure nothing or no one would try to takeover the planet as well destroy it. However with how much things have happened, meeting individuals such as him with extraordinary abilities to meeting the love of his life. There has been some things he's been hiding when he came from Viltrum, in which he couldn't tell his wife and son. However with the demonstration of surviving a brutal assault from several battles he's been in, and having a team that seemingly seemed to stand by him. It was time, to tell him the truth."
Grayson House-Morning
With Mark gone and out of the house, both parents had time to talk with one another. Especially while Mark has been dealing with his new 'friends' along being Invincible, she did some investigation. Which had her discovering a rather terrible secret, her husbands uniform. His old one which was covered in blood, the two of them were in the kitchen as she was looking at Nolan. Who was looking outside of the window and at the neighborhood seeing that he didn't know how to express himself in this situation.
"Why did you keep it?"
She questioned him on how if he did killed the Guardians, then he should have gotten rid of it or destroy it. Nolan turned around seeing his wife sadden by this, along holding the bloodied suit.
"Because, I felt to attached to it. As well, a part of me wanted you to find it, too."
Expressing that while it was a sure notice that he wanted to keep the suit, he wanted to show it to her and tell her the real truth about why he did it. Debbie, stricken with grief stood up thinking that there had to be a reason behind this deceit.
"Was someone controlling you? Were you blackmailed? Did they threaten me or Mark?"
Debbie asking him if there was a reason behind this, in which had to be something that force him to do this terrible act. Though he shook his head, seeing that there was no one who threaten him or his family. He just did it, but at a heavy cost. Walking over, he had a sincere look of how important this was and how he needed her to understand.
"Debbie, I need you need to trust me. If you can do that, we'll be okay. Mark too. Everything will be fine."
Nolan pleading to her on how what would happen next, she would have to trust him. As he didn't want nothing to happen to her, however with the lies, suit covered in blood and that of hiding this for weeks. Debbie just couldn't trust him.
"Trust you? How could I possibly trust you now? The Guardians were our friends. They were good people. They saved lives. They had families. You killed them."
Listing the things that he had done, more or less of how he didn't think about the people the guardians had with them. Nolan, remembered each of the people that was at the funeral. From couples, children and friends. They were all attached to the Guardians, he said nothing seeing how he had nothing to say. Debbie, seeing the expression on his face saw that this conversation was over.
"If you don't have anything else to say, you need to leave."
"Debbie."
Nolan responded to Debbie's request to leave, more or less of how she had enough of him. Handing him back his suit, Nolan had nothing to else in which he merely looked at his suit. In which he felt the disappointment in her, along of how there seemed to be nothing else to say.
"Get out of my house."
Having a serious tone in her voice in which Nolan said nothing, he looked up at the ceiling and shoots up into the air like a rocket out of the house. Not wasting a chance, Debbie went to her phone to try and call Mark and warn him about what has happened. However, she noticed something in front of her. A camouflaged humanoid which revealed himself as a black armored agent.
"Mrs. Grayson? We need you to come with us, like right now."
Spoke one of the agents which she turned around quick seeing it was Donald, one of Cecil's personal agents. Realizing what he meant, Debbie nodded as Donald had one of the agents press a button. It soon teleported her right into the GDA headquarters, this was the same teleportation that Cecil used to go places in a instant. Looking at the doorways opening, she saw Cecil as well a communication station having tabs on where Omni man was going.
"Cecil, Nolan killed the Guardians of the Globe."
Debbie informing him about what happened to the Guardians, in which from how the old man responded to this startling news. He knew before her, this made Debbie upset as well slapping him in the face for the lying. Accepting the slap, Cecil knew she would respond like that.
"I couldn't risk Nolan finding out we knew. Not until we figured out what he was doing and how to stop him. We failed on both those counts, by the way."
Explaining that if he told her and Mark about how their father and husband killing the most strongest team, then he might have hurt them or worse. Debbie, looking at the monitors and computers locating Nolan, there had to be more than tracking him down.
"What do you mean, stop him? Do you mean kill him?"
Asking a rather serious question, more or less that if there was no way to stop him. Then killing him would be the last option, which she didn't know how to respond in this matter.
I'm not sure we could kill him. Not us, anyway."
Expressing to her how out of most of the beings that he fought on the planet, there was several that could take him on without being killed. Pulling up the images, the first was Sledge. Seeing that from the recording in front of the White House battling Omni man. In which he had him on the ropes, however the Guardians were able to stop him. The second, was Mark. Which he shared his father's strength and speed.
"No."
Refusing to have Cecil send Mark and Sledge to face Nolan, seeing while all three of them had incredible strength. The consequences could shake the city if they all engaged in a three way fight. Cecil, hated the thought himself seeing there was no option.
"Right now I've formulate several counterattacks to handle Nolan. But the main objective, is finding Mark and the others."
Bringing up the task of reaching Mark and the others seeing that they had to find the boy and alien crew he was with, before Nolan reached them. Otherwise there would be no telling what he might do to her son.
Later in the forest
Returning back from the University, Mark thought it be best to talk to someone that would listen to him. Especially someone that was involved with this type of problems, Eve. Luckily for him she had his phone number, traveling up to the forest where she had just taken down a forest fire. The young adults were on the edge of a cliff looking at the waterfall. While the others, were looking around the environment.
"Wow. Sorry about the sucky college week."
Eve apologizing to Mark of how his first week of visiting college ended with him fighting several crazed cyborgs and a mad man. Mark, accepted it seeing that he somehow knew this part of him wouldn't leave so easily.
"Yeah. And now that William knows, it makes it much more complicated since now he figured out my bad is Omni man."
Expressing to her how with just that one week, his identity was given away to William. In which he would have to make sure no one would attack him, on the side was the alien crew seeing the two talking to each other. Poisandra, couldn't help but smile at the sight of them. In which Sledge noticed them seeing how he wasn't understanding the moment.
"Poisy? Why are you eavesdropping on the two? We should let them be. Kinda of a angsty thing."
Sledge telling her about that it seemed rather creepy for her to be watching the teens talk to each other in private. Poisandra however refused seeing that the moment looked special. As well she could feel the tension between them.
"Come on Sledgums. Can't you see how the two look right together? The troubled boy wanting to find who he is, the girl looking for a place to live in? The two have that of a tragic love story."
Explaining to her boyfriend about that the two should be together, Sledge looked at the two talking about how things have been troublesome for them. Along that they have much more then having incredible powers and the ability to help others. Poisandra, kept him quiet as they watched them talking.
"Did you tell your parents yet? About someone knowing your identity?"
Eve asking if it seemed alright for both his parents to know someone knows his secret identity, Mark nodded as he called them about it. While it wasn't exactly good, but at least it meant that it made Mark responsible for whatever happen to William.
"I just don't know anymore, after I got my powers I thought. I could be like him, my dad. So far I've done was get two good people beaten half to death. Had several people killed in the Flaxen invasion, so far. I've screwed up."
Informing her how after the time he's been using his powers, it's lead to nothing but destruction. Eve could vouch for that since he wasn't exactly graceful, especially when it came to handling himself in a fight. However, he did make up for it in the end with the smaller crimes he's been able to handle on his own without needing Sledge's crew or the Teen Team.
"Don't beat yourself over it, it was a rough start. And so far, you've gotten better. While still getting beaten up."
Making a joke which Mark laughed at the comment seeing that Eve could make him feel at least better with how she decided to be on her own for a while. Meanwhile in the back was the aliens who still watched the two acting like a couple. Poisandra, looked at Sledge seeing it's been rough for him to look over the boy. However, it made him into a better man.
"What? Got a scratch on my armor?"
He asked noticing her looking at him with her yellow eyes locked onto him, in which she laughed seeing how while he wasn't the brightest of thinkers. He was still protective of himself and others around him. Enjoying the piece, Wrench had started to get a beeping sound from his head. It was loud enough to get everyone's attention.
"What the hell you sorry excuse for a robot? Got a alarm clock in there?"
"No. It's a device I burrowed from Cecil, it's a teleportation device. Thought it might be helpful if we're in trouble."
Wrench responding to Fury who was irritated by the loud beeping as the others were going to check it out, however. There was booming sound in the air like if a rocket went up into the air and exploded.
"The hell kind of human weapon was that?"
Sledge questioning both Mark and Eve about what was going on, while that was happening the others were trying to figure out the device that was going on with Wrench. Curio, being the fascinated monster looked at the device. As well the red button at the side.
"Maybe if you press it than it could help."
Offering a suggestion in which he pressed the button, suddenly a bright light of energy consumed them and Poisandra making them all teleport. The trio looked shocked at what happened, Sledge however. Looked pissed thinking that Cecil wanted to talk with him, meaning he took his crew to get his attention.
"Sledge? Maybe it was a malfunction. Could be something with whatever blown up in the air."
Mark offering a response to what was going on, in which Sledge lets out a frustrated yell as he activated his jetpack and launched into the air to see what made that explosion. Both Mark and Eve thought if there was something up, it might have to do with the explosion. Putting back his mask, the two flew right behind him to see what was going on.
Himalaya's-Few Hours before
Above the frosty plains of the mountains was Omni man, who was right now looking at the sky as well the plains of the area. There was no one around him, along that this was possibly the only place where he could speak his mind without anyone saying anything to him. He was right now focusing about a speech he wanted to have with his son once he came back.
"Mark. There some things that, I haven't told you about. It was because I didn't know how to say it, but with have far you've grown. I need to tell you something important."
Beginning his talk as he tried to picture it, both him and Mark away from the people. Possibly in the sky where they were flying over the city, in which they could look at the people they've both saved from time to time. Taking in a deep breath, he went right to the truth.
"I killed the Guardians of the Globe. Now before you say anything, just listen. Please."
Stating a rather startling crime that he hope Mark would understand once he gave him this talk, while it wasn't easy to say this. He'd have to do it, if not. Then he'd regret it. Keeping his emotions in, he remembered why he did it.
"I'm not a monster. I didn't want to do it. but it had to be done."
Getting serious of how that killing the team wasn't a easy choice, more or less that he enjoyed it seeing how while he did value them helping him out. They had to be taken out of the picture.
"It was my responsibility. Other people won't understand that, but I know you can."
Believing that with what he would say to his son, would be important seeing how his true heritage was hidden. And that Nolan had to be the one to explain where they come from. As he remain serious about what caused him to kill the seven heroes, he also remembered of what else matter in the moment, his family.
"What I'm about to tell you will change everything. Just remember, you're my son, and I love you and your mother more than."
Stopping for a moment seeing that what he was doing wasn't helping, it made him felt cowardly let alone of that it wasn't helping with the situation. This only frustrated him seeing that before he did this, he and Debbie had a talk in which she found his uniform. Along of it being covered in blood, meaning she had found out about the death for some time.
"What am I doing?"
Asking himself seeing that it had been done, his wife knows as well about the Guardians deaths. It was time to tell him, flying off from the mountains he flew back towards the country to see if he couldn't find Mark before Cecil could. As he continued his flight, his ears begun to hear a sound. A generating sound like if a cannon was being charged up, realizing what was going on. He knew what it was.
"Cecil you son of a.."
Before he could finish his sentence, a powerful blast from the sky descended upon him. Hitting him to the ground, the blast radius took out the forest around him as well the wildlife. It made the area into a baron wasteland. Back at the GDA, was Cecil and Debbie who were looking over at the sight of the attack. In which Debbie felt horrified at how he was attacked like a animal.
"Got no signs of a life signature."
One of his agents calling out in which this might have killed him, Cecil felt relieved. However, the ground begun to shake as Omni man flew up into the sky realizing it was a satellite attack. Going up into the air, they all saw the indestructible man destroying the large satellite dish like if it was nothing. However, the only thing that it gave him was a nosebleed from the attack.
"Four hundred billion dollars for the most expensive nosebleed. Shit!"
Cursing to himself as he was going try and locate Mark seeing how he had return from College. In which he was going to try and locate him, starting up his watch he was going to try and teleport there. Pressing the button, he noticed something going up.
"What's going on with my watch? It's suppose to activate."
"It is, but's interfering with another watch."
One of his agents explaining which made Cecil realize that someone was using one of his watches, soon enough the system was detecting intruders coming to the base. It couldn't be Omni man, as it came in a bright light. Moving away, it was Sledge's crew as the four were confused about what had just happened. Dazed by the light, they all noticed themselves in the command room.
"You should have given this thing a bigger brain Wrench."
Fury telling the robot about Curio's idiocy as they noticed the tense atmosphere in the room. Debbie, recognized the four seeing how they were last seen with Mark.
"You were all with him, is he ok? Where is he?"
Getting worried about what might happen, in had the four confused not understanding what was going on. However they soon see what was going on, which showed Omni Man destroying the satellite. Something was going wrong, very wrong with the man who battled them to protect the people. Was now turning against on his own.
Middle of Nowhere
Coming back down from space, Omni man took a moment to adjust himself from the satellite attack. He was about to continue with finding Mark, however. He was soon attacked by three metallic pods. Not understanding what was going on, they opened up showing the same cyborgs that he heard about from Mark's weekend at college.
"That lying bastard."
Thinking to himself as Cecil must have recruit the mad scientist into the GDA, charging right at him. Omni man did his best to handle them, however they felt strong. Similar to his strength alone, tackling him to the ground and beating him across the area. Nolan was doing his best to avoid watching his face not being bitten.
"I had enough of this!"
Shouting as he was able to backhand one of them to the side stomp it's head destroying it in a instant. Looking at the other two, he blocked their attacks as well grabbing one of them. Hurling him at the cyborg, he ripped the one in his arms into two pieces. Looking at the last one, it tried to attack him. However Nolan back handed him hard enough to rip off his head entirely. Looking around the area, he thought Cecil was watching them.
"Is that all you got?!"
Shouting into the air thinking that he might be listening to them, though there was no response. Going back to flying in the air, he was stopped by a flashing light. Feeling like he hit a wall, Nolan's eyes realized what teleported here. It was the Kaiju monster that he had beaten weeks ago, fully regenerated from the wounds as well looking angry at the Viltrumite.
"You must be desperate, I've beaten this thing before."
Stating of how if he had beaten this thing once, he could do it again. On the side he noticed a drone looking at him, which had to be Cecil on the other side looking at him.
"Sure, but we removed its pain center, and juiced it up with every drug, enhancement, and upgrade we had. Plus, all that really pissed it off, and it blames you. Good luck."
Cecil telling him as Omni Man merely focused on the fight, rushing right towards the tentacled creature. Avoiding it's large tentacles, the creature attacked the man with nothing holding it back. Striking him to the ground, it made sure to not let Omni man continue to fly up into the air. Wrapping it's tentacles around him, he gripped Nolan as well squeezing the life out of him. On the outskirts of the area, Invincible along with Atom Even and Sledge were flying over to see the fight happening and the creature getting the upper hand.
"Dad!"
Mark cried out as it seemed this had to be the reason for the explosion, rushing straight towards the monster. Mark was able to attack the creature making him drop to the ground, Sledge flew over to catch Omni man before he hit the ground. Eve catching up, she felt her phone ringing as she answered it.
"Eve? It's Mark's mom, I need to talk to him."
Debbie talking to Eve as she didn't understand what was happening as she stopped flying, back at the fight. Nolan slowly woke up to see Sledge catching him from the fall. As well looking at the alien catching him and his son coming to see he was alright.
"Mark?"
Looking shocked to see him here and helping out, having the strength to fly again. The three men looked at the creature staring at them as well letting out a roar, having his blaster ready. Sledge fired the first shot at it's face seeing that it didn't kill him.
"Ok, got his attention. Just beat the crap out of him!"
Sledge shouted as he acted as decoy as the tentacled monster tried to grab him, both Invincible and Omni Man attacked from the underbelly doing their best to end the creature. Meanwhile on the side was Eve, who was just told the news as well of how she was to return to Guardians HQ fast.
"Listen to me, and go."
Cecil telling her as Eve didn't know what to do, in which she watched at how the monster was overwhelming the three power house men. Slamming the two Viltrumite's to the ground, Sledge continued to fire rounds to the side of his arms.
"Come on ugly! I've fought bigger things than you!"
Shouting at it as Sledge continued to fire at it not stopping, however. The creature punched him directly to the ground making a large shockwave to clear the area, both Mark and Nolan got back up seeing the creature holding Sledge in it's hand. Soon enough, he devoured the bounty hunter.
"Sledge!"
Mark shouted at the sight of the alien that watched over him, as well possibly a new friend eaten by the creature. Getting mad, he rushed at the creature as Omni man followed in pursuit. As the two battled the large monster still having trouble, Nolan heard that of a bloodshot yell. That of anger and rage, turning to the side. He knew who that was.
"Omni man!"
Recognizing the voice, in which had him shocked as it was Immortal. Unable to focus on the monster, he was tackled by the apparent risen guardian. Smashing into the ground, the two grown men rushed into the air battling in a death battle in the air. While Mark was handling the monster, he saw that of Immortal fighting his dad.
"What the hell?"
Confused at the sight as he was soon caught off guard by the monster who lashed right behind his back, seeing his son in pain. He tried to rush to his aid, however Immortal pulled him back making sure he didn't escape. As Mark continued to battle the monster, it soon stopped. In which there was something going on within it. Moving away from the monster, a green light suddenly begun to glow from within. It started to react violently as well expand from within.
"You've got to be.."
Before finishing, the monster soon exploded from within as from what he could see. It was Sledge, who had grown into the same size as the monster. Mark was still flying as he got startled by the sight of his friend who's become now a giant.
"Guess who's back?!"
Sledge announced with a booming voice of how he somehow unlocked his power while being devoured by the monster. While it seemed like a incredible moment, Mark realized that his dad was in help. Looking at the sight, both Omni man and Immortal continued to battle as well looking both brutally injured. In which Immortal rushed at him still angry at him.
"You bastard!"
Continuing to curse at Nolan, as the red caped man decided to end the fight once and for all. Putting his strength into one punch, he thrust his right arm into his stomach making a hole straight through him. Across the world, as well at the GDA. They saw the horrific sight of him killing Immortal, again.
"You should have stayed buried."
Nolan telling the hero as he soon splits him apart having the two body pieces fall to the ground. The area fell to silence at the sight of this, along of how Sledge never expect Mark's father to have such bloodlust. Turning around, Nolan's eyes were bloodshot as well how he didn't know what to say to his son.
"Dad?"
Asking him about what he had just witnessed, more or less of what he had just done. Nolan, saw both his own son and the alien he once battled and saw protecting his son horrified at this sight. Feeling the shaking in his hands, he calmed himself seeing how this talk had to happen. Now.
"Mark, we need to talk."
