"Having battled in space and trying to remain on Earth without any kind of situation where he was required to go back. Mark was finally able to enjoy a normal life without worrying about being Invincible since the Guardians had been keeping a lid on things since he came back. Sadly after returning from the Martian ship to learn about Rex's limb removal and the other's injuries, he needed the day off and be himself. It didn't help however that Curio, who was still traumatized by seeing Rae almost killed when she was eaten by Komodo Dragon and breaking her way out through his headless body. Had made a promise to her to collect several graphic novels that were being sold at a local comic book convention she'd planned on taking him and also Poisandra in the hopes of giving her friends a better look for themselves if they were going to continue in saving people. While Mark would want to keep away from a convention since it'll remind me of being Invincible and having memories of getting beaten multiple times by almost everyone on Earth, he was secretly excited since there were some things he wanted to buy at the convention."

Morning-Comic Convention

It was a bright and early morning for Mark since he was called repeatedly by Curio if he was ready to come with him and the others to the convention. Having brought Sledge's gang with them having their human disguises on, the four aliens took a moment to look around the environment as well as saw numerous humans wearing costumes based on the people they had met and that of themselves. Wrench had noticed several people wearing his look but more refurbished and better than what he appeared as.

"In the old days of us working back on our ship, seeing this would be my worst nightmare. It still is."

Fury remarked on Wrench's fans as the robot couldn't help but chuckle in amusement that there were people who found him amazing. Mark was in charge of where they were heading off since he was an expert on visiting conventions when his parents took him here.

"Alright. With what Ras wanted from the convention since she couldn't be here with us, the first thing on the list is one of the new novels from Seance Dog. Which so happens for us to be on the line for right now."

He stated that the others didn't realize they had been on since they didn't notice the people behind them standing patiently for them to purchase the novels. Taking the chance to get photos of the statues and decorations around the place, Poisandra couldn't help but see several people wearing Invincible costumes as she nudged over to Mark which made him feel surprised by him having fans.

"I guess somebody has competition if they get Eve's attention. My money is on the one with muscles."

She teased Mark as he noticed one of the Invincible cosplayers appearing fit and bigger than he was, especially where it counts as Poissndra couldn't help but blush since she'd ask him out if she wasn't with Sledge. The group finally made their way to the stands where they saw numerous Seance Dog novels available for purchase Mark helped Curio purchase some along with others that Rae wanted. Fury didn't buy any as he crossed his arms and noticed around them other people wearing familiar costumes such as Doc Seismic, King Lizard, and even Elephant Man. It confused the alien lion as to why the humans would dress up as the villains that threaten the community and destroy the city on numerous occasions, he remained silent until he felt someone bumping into him.

"What's the big idea?"

He spoke out to whoever ran up to him Fury looked down and saw a boy wearing a handmade costume of Fury costume. It surprised him since he didn't think anyone on the planet would find him likable due to his aggressive nature, more or less how he acts around people. Hearing a set of footsteps coming towards him, he saw the boy's father who looked surprised at how he found him by Fury's side.

"I'm so sorry about my kid. He's a fan of Fury and enjoys going around stomping like he owns the place. He didn't ruin your shoes or anything did he?"

The father asked Fury if he might have done something to anger him to which he looked at the child cosplayer seeing a bit of fear since he didn't expect to bump into him. Unable to think of a response to him and how the boy didn't know any better, Fury taps on the boy's head and shows a small smile towards the father that there was no problem at all.

"Nope. Just glad that there's someone who likes a warrior instead of these caped people."

He said about the kid making a good choice in picking himself to cosplay which left the father to smile before taking his son off to enjoy the rest of the convention. Fury didn't notice the side as the others noticed his soft side when he saw the boy coming up to him and trying their best to not laugh or tease the lion since it was the first to see him smile.

"Screw off before I get annoyed."

Fury responded to their expressions as he wanted to continue their trip through the convention. Just as they were passing by numerous other cosplayers appeared like themselves, Poisandra noticed a couple that looked like herself and Sledge which made her heart freeze since they looked similar to when they met as teenagers. The sight made her almost shed a tear since she remembered how Sledge promised that he'd look after her no matter what. Taking a moment to adjust herself, she rejoined the others where they saw more comics and collectibles that Curio was rushing over to get.

"He's been visiting Rae constantly since she got hurt and ended up in the hospital. I didn't know at the time that he wanted to be around more people, I thought I was enough for him. It scared me when I saw him afraid of losing Rae."

She told Mark that he didn't know about the patchwork monster joining them since he didn't think that Curio would want to fight. However, after hearing about his joyride on Rex's hoverbike and crashing it into Badussa. It seemed that he hit a breaking point during his moments of feeling like he was about to be killed, it still didn't feel right to be a part of the fight.

"I need to ask something about the mission. Why exactly did you and him wear costumes that were based on Red Rush and Green Ghost? Didn't think you'd be the type to wear someone else's costume."

Mark questioned one of the things that stood out during the mission since Poisandra and Curio decided to try and take up their 'mantle' when they posed as the deceased heroes. Just as they continued to keep up with the excited child, Poisandra took a moment to try and find a reason for what made them decide to try out their new looks since there was a deeper meaning behind wearing the uniforms.

"It was supposed to be a dedication to the guardians we fought since despite being total killjoys to us arriving on Earth, they had style."

She answered how the suits she designed for herself and Curio would honor the memory of the heroes she met and fought when they arrived on the planet. Mark remembered hearing about their arrival since his dad spoke about fighting weirdos that came out of the ground and started fighting the guardians. It was simple back then and his trying to be like Nolan, though wearing costumes that represented the dead heroes was still something he wanted to know about as he continued to listen to Poisandra.

"After they died, I thought there could be a day we'd show others they gave us a better understanding of what they stood for. Maybe even try out for the Guardians, just me and Curio. Don't think the others could pull off the look."

She finished the explanation with the two looking at the others picking up their issues including the ones that Rae wanted. With that being handled, the group decided to visit the food court where they saw several screens around the area which showed a shocking development happening. Most of the people were looking at each of them as it showed the Immortal who was standing with the other guardians of the globe where an announcement was being made.

"If you're just tuning in on this broadcast, then know this is not a hoax or joke happening right before you. Just moments ago, after checking on the injured members of the Guardians, an interview was organized by the Immortal who wished to talk to the public."

The reporter explained what was happening as he looked over to where numerous other reporters were zooming toward Immortal where he had explained his reason for setting up the interview. With the cameras on Immortal's face, he took a moment to settle in with everyone staring at him as he started the interview.

"For the past decade, I've been looking over both my country as well the planet in protecting it from various threats that tried to harm its people. While having survived almost any type of injury or certain death, my mind itself has started to age which has left me to not think straight. As well believing that I could lead the team."

Immortal began the talk with his age catching up to him in the sense of how he acted when he came to fighting Allen when he thought that he was sent by Nolan. Lowering his head at what was happening to him, he had to make a choice that could benefit his teammates as well the people in order to make sure he didn't endanger anyone around him.

"Which is why I'm stepping down as leader of the Guardians and returning the role back to Robot. Who while still considered young, has the intelligence to keep his people safe. Black Samson who was with me during the beginning will help him led the team. I apologize for announcing this, but for the safety of everyone's well being. I must step down."

Announcing his retirement as the crowd started an uproar of the reporters as well the people in the convention since it was the first time they'd seen something like this happened for a man like the Immortal. Mark and the gang watched at the display of panic happening amongst them as well as each of them going on their phones to spread the word about Immortal's retirement on the internet.

"Do you think that Cecil allowed this to happen or that this was after seeing his teammates almost dead?"

Wrench questioned Mark if this was permitted since it seems that the director wasn't informed by this action. The boy said nothing since it was bound to happened due to how Immortal acted in space and could have gotten the team killed if he didn't help in fighting the Sequids. Just as everyone started to gossip from the news, Mark noticed there was one of them that wasn't staring at the television but directly at him. He felt his body go still as the costume she had on was an Viltrumite uniform which nobody could see that it was real, more importantly that she was getting his attention with the stare she was giving him.

"I'll be right back."

He spoke to the four without turning his head as he followed the possible Viltrumite outside as she walked pass the people as the mysterious woman walked outside for Mark to follow. Heading to the back of the convention to try and find her, Mark only saw a shadow floating in the air as he saw the woman floating right over him in an intimidating manner.

"My name is Anissa. An agent of the Viltrumite empire, I was sent here to speak with you privately. If you refuse, then the people in the building will die by my hands."

She introduced herself and gave her intentions of why she was here along what would happen if Mark didn't come with her. Noticing how Anissa was serious about her threat, Mark silently nodded to the request and would come with her to speak alone with no one noticing them.

"Don't keep me waiting."

Anissa told him before heading up into the sky and wait for Mark which left the boy unable to tell the others about the Viltrumite's arrival. Dropping his bag to the side and pulling out his mask from his pocket, he jumps into the air as his clothes quickly burn up showing his suit that was hiding underneath it. Following from behind was Wrench who saw the bag by the side and seeing Mark in his costume going off to handle whatever problem was happening. Not knowing what happened and him nor the others unable to catch up to him, the robot contacted Cecil to inform the director about what might be happening if they couldn't catch up with Mark.

Later-In the Air

Hovering over the air waiting for the half human half Viltrumite to appear in front of her. Anissa saw the young man making his way towards her and in his uniform which her people had told her that it was his alter ego dubbed 'Invincible'. Watching him keep his distance and gripping his hands into fists as he went into a combative gesture, she kept her calm and didn't attempt to fight him.

"I didn't come to fight you, only talk to you."

Explaining herself again since from the mission briefing that Duncan and Thula had made after their trip to Thrax. He was quick to defy the pair as well put up a fight that had them both tired and injured, though he had help from Sledge and Nolan during the moment.

"My experience with Viltrumites haven't gone that swell since they tried to kill me as well innocent people when I first met them."

He responded towards how he met the race since they didn't care for anything but wanted to lay waste to anything that defied them. Hearing his words filled with anger towards his people left Anissa to sigh in annoyance of how little he thought of them.

"How little you know of your own people. Even if you don't accept it, you have our blood and our strength. Despite being raised on this world."

She spoke on whether or not he was half human that he belonged with them due to him being related to Nolan. Taking a moment to look over the city and its people, Mark didn't know what she was getting at as he continued to watch Anissa if she would attack him if he defied her.

"It's only taken me an hour to study this world and its on the brink of destruction. Its leaders care about only its wealth and power, the criminals that show up kill half of the population and resources decreasing every day. We have the technology and people to handle it, yet you refuse it. Why is that?"

Anissa listed the numerous events happening to Earth and how it struggles to keep itself together. While its true that he's seen it and had been unable to handle it, that didn't make it right for her nor that of his father decide to come in and take control.

"Because you'd kill the ones that resist. It's the same speech that my dad gave me before I learned about him killing people who risked their lives protecting this world."

Mark responded at her that while Viltrumite technology could help benefit Earth and the people who need it would eventually come at a price. Anissa didn't deny it that there were sacrifices that had to be made to benefit both worlds. She could tell through his mask that he was serious about not joining the Viltrum Empire, which left her to try one more time in convincing him to join them.

"They resist because they want to keep things the way they are. Continuing to fight one another until there's nothing left, it can be handled if Viltrum occupancy was here on Earth. Only you can do that since its your mission now, meaning its time to accept your birthright. Be the Viltrumite you were supposed to be, be your father's son."

She attempted one last time in convincing him to align himself to the empire in order to save the Earth and avoid any more conflict between both worlds. Hearing the last part about becoming like Nolan made him remember the memories of him killing people that tried to stop him, especially seeing Nolan rip Immortal in half right in front of him. Feeling the anger building up and wanting to shout about not letting them come to Earth and try to takeover by force along kill anyone that would resist their rule, Mark kept his calm and prepared to accept whatever attacks he'll get.

"This planet isn't something that the Viltrumites can take. Despite humans not being like you or me, they know when they can admit their mistakes and try to fix their home. And their protective when it comes to people who believe their weak and need to be looked after."

He gave her answer to Anissa that Earth was for them and that they can fix their mistakes. Him and the other masked heroes would help out to make sure the world was safe for anyone and would be protected from anyone that would want to take it or destroy it. She saw his resolve and could see that he wasn't going to be swayed by her words which left the woman to change the look on her face from stern to aggressive.

"Just remember I started with reason."

Informing him before she flew at him which left Mark unable to defend himself as she sent him flying off in the air at Mach speed. Trying to control himself from spinning out of control, Mark saw himself around the ocean which surprised him at how hard Anissa hit him as he regains control and sees her coming at him. Able to block her punches and throw his own at her, watching how Mark was trying to beat her prove futile as she grabs him by a neck and throws Mark to a nearby island by the side of her. Taking a moment to focus and get on his feet, he saw Anissa land in front of him not getting serious.

"You have a mission. Assign by your true people, whether or not your half human. You will complete it."

She told him which reminded Mark how his father continued to convince him in working together. Losing his patience and not giving in, Mark whipped the blood off his lips and continued to resist Anissa despite her being stronger than him.

"No."

He answered as Mark flew directly at her to only be kicked in the knee and taken up into the aid to then fly downwards at the sand before crashing right into it. The ground cracked underneath the weight of her strength as well scaring off the wildlife that was around them. Keeping him pinned to the ground by her foot, Mark continued to defy her as well not let her bully him into changing his mind.

"Either you need me or you don't. Make up your mind. Otherwise, kill me."

Continuing to stand up at her despite being stronger than him as Anissa continued to step on his neck in an attempt to make him go unconscious. Though just as it seemed he was about to pass out, they heard a terrible laughter coming from the woods as it caught Anissa off guard as she removed her foot to see who was spying on them. She looked into the darkest part where a pair of yellow eyes staring at her and hearing the sound of a sword being dragged against the ground.

"Don't you just love it when they resist? The look in their eyes that despite fighting something indestructible, they continue to not give up. Rather admirable before its too late."

A voice told her as Mark realized who it was and didn't think he'd see him again. It was Snide, the alien outlaw that was the reason for Sledge's gang being here and almost taking out him and the guardians before Eve came to help out and possibly beat him. Anissa took a moment to study the ammonite alien and had no time to deal with a distraction.

"Stay out of this creature, unless you wish to be a reason to the boy on why its a mistake in defying Viltrumites."

Anissa warned Snide at how he was a perfect example on showing what would happen if Mark continued to neglect his responsibilities. Snide did nothing but smirk at her as he sheaths his sword and opens his arms towards her allowing her the privilege in attacking him.

"I relish the challenge."

He allowed Anissa to attack him as this annoyed her to where she speed rushes him and sends Snide flying through the trees. Thinking that the momentum had killed him, she heard Snide laughing at her attempt in killing him in one move as Anissa walked over to see him getting back up. The two soon engaged in a fist fight as Mark watched from the side lines and tried to stand up, only for him to be stopped by Cecil who came up from behind him as it seemed he was behind this.

"Easy kid. He's got this."

The director told him as Mark was confused about the fact that Snide was working with the GDA and helping him out in fighting Anissa. Watching the fight continuing, she continued to go for killing blows but only was stopped by the exterior of Snide's body. Taking in the punches and feeling them powering him up, Snide lets out his tentacles which took Anissa by surprise as they quickly attack her which was impossible since they felt like her punches. Seeing this was a waste of time and distracting her, she delivers a thunderclap at Snide that sent him flying into the ocean. Having dealt with the mad alien, Anissa looked over seeing Mark who was walking out of the jungle still seemingly ready to fight her again.

"It seems this planet is looked after by more than just humans. But know this Invincible. Another will come to see if you've accepted your mission, and if he finds out you resisting again. He will demonstrate the error of your ways and this whole planet will pay the price. I pray you come to your senses before then."

Anissa warned him of another Viltrumite that will not be peaceful like him and would possibly kill him if Mark continued to not accept the Viltrum empire. Taking off into the air and leaving the atmosphere which meant she wasn't coming back. Leaving him to sigh in relief, he turned his attention to Cecil who wanted to know about why Snide was here and with him of all people.

"Before you start shouting at me about this psychopath coming in to save your ass. Know that Wrench called me about your guest's arrival, but more to the point that there's more of them coming and possibly stronger than you. We need any help if we're going to survive them."

Cecil explained the reason for having Snide with him and possibly not informing the gang about needing every edge against the Viltrumites. Without saying anything and looking at Snide who was getting out of the ocean dazed and stumbling from getting sent into the water, he looked at the old man with a look of distrust since this wasn't something he'd support. Though sadly accept since he saw what could happen if there were more like Anissa coming to Earth.

"Just make sure he doesn't stab you in the back."

Warning him before heading back to the others and try to keep the fact that the alien responsible for stranding them on Earth was working with Cecil since they were working with him at the same time. Flying off the island and away from the two as Singe saw the half beaten human leaving since he might not want to see him.

"Funny. You say 'survive them', because you think their doing this by themselves. Since I know who might be working with them since the girl wasn't intimidated by me."

Snide stated that the reason why he was here and keeping hidden was about someone else that was with the Viltrumites which was important that Cecil have him on his side. Not because he trusted him but to make the planet fortified for when Earth would be attacked by either them or even unknown enemy that could be helping them in assuring their control. Whether or not he could trust him, Cecil had little choice since he heard about the news of Immortal stepping down as leader and giving it back to Rudolph which wasn't a bad thing since he was the leader he entrusted the first time when the new team was made. It was bad timing since he needed everyone ready for what would be coming to Earth whether it was a year or month. All he could do is prepare until the Viltrumites came at full power.
