ZAFT: Well, another Monday update. Have both readers this time too! That's good to see!
DarkFoxKit: Yup. By the way, I've gotten into the Digimon virtual pet lately. Strange how I've been a Digimon fan for years, but this is my first time playing the virtual pets that they originated from.
ZAFT: I had the Digivice virtual pets as a kid, but I don't have any now… T-T
DarkFoxKit: Well, if you ever have the interest and money, I know some places are still selling the Digimon 20th for like 15 bucks. There's also a cool fan-made project called W0rld that allows you to play with your Digimon v-pet in an online MMO game. But that's enough 'advertising' now. Let's get into the story.
Chapter 12: Strengths, Weaknesses, and Plans
Agunimon and Lobomon stood on the opposite sides of each other. Lobomon took out his two lightsabers as he charged at Agunimon. "Let's see what you've got, Agunimon! Lobo Kendo!"
Agunimon jumped to the side as he then rolled once and got to his feet. "Not bad, but you'll have to do better than that." He grinned.
Lobomon just aimed his left arm at Agunimon and fired off his long ranged attack. "Howling Laser!"
Agunimon saw the incoming attack and raised his arms in a defensive move, calling forth that shield of his. The shield flared into existence, blocking the attack.
Lobomon saw the shield and blinked. "Okay, that's new."
"Believe me, I'm still trying to figure out how I learned this move." Agunimon admitted. "But I can't deny it's been useful."
"Do you have a name for it then?" Lobomon asked.
"No. Not yet…" Agunimon admitted sheepishly.
"Well try to think of one," Lobomon said. "But that won't stop me from continuing this spar. Lobo Kendo!"
"Pyro Darts!"Agunimon shot out his flaming darts at the incoming Lobomon.
Meanwhile, Beetlemon and Kumamon stood on the opposite side of each other. They were further away from Agunimon and Lobomon.
"Instead of just making it one-on-one, we should make it a free-for-all with Kazemon," Kumamon suggested.
Kazemon and Beetlemon blinked before looking at Kumamon.
"Why do you want to do that?" Kazemon asked Kumamon.
"Because we'd be too tired to give Kazemon a fair one-on-one without her waiting for us to rest," Kumamon answered. "And, realistically, we'd likely be attacked by multiple Digimon instead of just one. So this will help us prepare in case we get attacked by multiple enemies."
Beetlemon blinked before looking down. "That makes sense. It would also help us learn to react to such a situation since most enemies will not be so willing to fight one on one."
Kazemon grinned. "Well, I hope you're able to handle two flying opponents then, Kumamon."
"I welcome the challenge." Kumamon smiled.
"Then let's do this!" Beetlemon said before he lifted up his fist, having electricity spark on it. "Thunder Fist!"
Beetlemon came at Kazemon and Kumamon. Kumamon took a deep breath and blew out an icy attack without calling out the name, freezing the ground under Beetlemon's feet. Because Kumamon didn't shout the name, Beetlemon had been ill prepared for what Kumamon just did, and started to slip and slide on the ground, making him miss both of them by a mile, and he ended up falling on his face.
"Ow…" Beetlemon groaned as he looked up. "That really caught me by surprise."
"Don't get so down, Beetlemon. It's all about getting better at using our abilities." Kazemon giggled.
Kazemon flew up into the air and summoned little twisters on her fingers. "Hurricane Wave!"
Kazemon blew back Kumamon, who was far lighter than Beetlemon was, who managed to stand his ground.
"You gotta do better than that, Kazemon!" Beetlemon said before he flew up into the air too, his horn sparking with electricity. "Lightning Blitz!"
Kazemon dodged the attack easily, being able to fly and not on the ground. "You'll have to do better than that!" Kazemon quipped before standing on her hands and spinning around with her legs spread apart. "Tempest Twist!"
Beetlemon was hit by Kazemon's kick, though he was able to take it pretty well. Instead of us just trying to punch or ram into Kazemon, since that wasn't working out so well, Beetlemon decided to summon lightning into his hands like he was about to use Thunder Fist, but then he discharged the electricity in the air. Not even Kazemon could dodge electricity in the air. Her body got zapped.
"OW!" Kazemon yelped before she fell to the ground, her body twitching from the electrical attack. "I… hate electricity…"
"Looks like I'm able to utilize the electricity for more than just a punch, awesome!" Beetlemon said excitedly.
Suddenly Beetlemon was pelted by snowballs. The snowballs were cold, and they made it difficult for him to fly because they were freezing his wings.
"You should never forget about the other enemy in the area, letting your guard down is a death sentence," Kumamon stated to Beetlemon as he was holding out his gun that was shooting out snowballs.
"Darn it…" Beetlemon hissed before he turned to face Kumamon. "Little sneak… Let's see how you like this!" He gathered more electricity in his hands and directed it right at Kumamon.
However, since Kumamon was on the ground, he managed to move his body out of the electricity's way as it hit the ground and dispersed.
"Lightning does better in the air than on the ground without a solid matter to guide them," Kumamon replied.
Kazemon was a bit shaken, but she was far from out. She wasn't going to let a little electricity stop her. She got back to her feet and moved into the air again.
"Hurricane Wave!"Kazemon shouted as she shot out a large wave of wind at Beetlemon.
This time Beetlemon got blown away due to his wings being stiff from the snowballs. Kazemon looked down at Kumamon while Beetlemon was recovering from the sudden wind attack. Kumamon looked up at Kazemon. Something felt familiar to both of them as they faced each other like this.
Kazemon wasn't sure why, but she felt like she was facing Kumamon down in a confrontational manner just by hovering over him like she was. It made her very uneasy, but she shook her head, trying to keep her mind on the spar.
Kumamon wasn't sure why, but it suddenly felt… wrong to be facing Kazemon like this. He didn't have a problem facing Beetlemon, so he didn't understand why he felt this way with Kazemon.
"Alright, here we go!" Kazemon called out.
"Time to make you leave!"Kumamon imagined Kazemon saying, even though she didn't.
This distracted Kumamon enough for Kazemon to created little tornadoes on hers fingers. "Hurricane Wave!"
Kumamon was blown back by the attack. While he was feeling dazed, Kazemon took this opportunity to spin around and kicked him with her feet. "Tempest Twist!"
Kumamon yelped as he was kicked back.
"You attacked that player. We won't let you carry on indiscriminate attacks on humans!"Kumamon heard the other Kazemon shouting at him.
Stop it! What's going on? I fought with Kazemon before? Were we enemies or something? Why?Kumamon questioned, putting a hand on the side of his head. Aren't we comrades and friends? Why were we confronting each other?
Kazemon paused when she saw Kumamon was acting strangely. "Is something wrong, Kumamon?" She asked as she slowly hovered down in front of him.
Kumamon shook his head. "N-No… I'm… I'm fine…"
"Clearly not, you seem distracted." Kazemon frowned. "Maybe you should take a break. I don't want to hurt you more if you're not feeling up to it."
"Hey, what's going on?" Beetlemon asked as he came over, seeing that they were talking.
"Kumamon's acting a little weird, and I'm worried about him," Kazemon replied.
"Whatare you!? What makes you different from me!?"Kumamon heard his own voice shouting.
"My comrades and Iprotect humans and Digimon, not try to hurt them."Kazemon's voice replied.
"I haven't done anything wrong!"Kumamon heard his voice again.
Kumamon shook his head again. If these memories were fake, why did they feel so real to him?
"Maybe I should sit this one out," Kumamon finally said. "I'm not feeling too well. You and Beetlemon can keep going though."
Beetlemon and Kazemon looked at Kumamon in concern.
"Are you sure?" Beetlemon asked.
"Yeah," Kumamon replied. "It's not a good idea to spar when I'm not feeling at my best."
"Okay. You get some rest then," Kazemon said in concern.
"Thanks," Kumamon said, smiling a little seeing that Kazemon did care about him, and wasn't accusing him of hurting others like the one in his vision was.
Fractal code surrounded Kumamon, turning him back to Tommy, and he walked away while Kazemon and Beetlemon faced each other.
While this was going on, Lopmon, Patamon, Labramon, Biyomon, and Kokuwamon sat in a circle with each other.
"I think I speak for all of us when I say we're stressed out about what happened with Tommy, and we needa plan," Lopmon said.
"Yeah, but what can we do?" Labramon asked in concern. "Tommy… having two sets of memories… That's not a good sign."
"But what does it mean?" Kokuwamon asked.
"It means that he remembers what happened… before…" Biyomon answered grimly. "He has his memories of what happened here, and now he's getting memories of what happened before coming here."
"And… what would happen if he fully remembers…?" Kokuwamon questioned, though he was afraid of the answer, it needed to be said.
"We don't know," Patamon replied. "We were only warned of the possibility. The consequences of, at least, one of them remembering their past, is unpredictable. It could mess up this world, and leave us trapped within it. It could also force a… 'reboot', I guess, on us too, which means we'd lose our memories of who we were, and become a part of this world."
"The master of this world would probably prefer that…" Biyomon grumbled.
"We can't just ignore it though." Labramon pointed out. "We need to find a way to help Tommy through this… and keep ourselves prepared for what could happen should he remember fully…"
Lopmon had been pretty quiet as he was thinking about this.
"What are you thinking, Lopmon?" Patamon asked. "You seem to be the closest one to Tommy, aren't you more worried about this?"
"I'm not the closest one to Tommy, I just happen to be around him more often," Lopmon grumbled. "And in any case, of course it troubles me. But we can't control what his mind is doing, now can we?"
"So… should we just… leave so we don't get caught in the impeding doom?" Kokuwamon asked.
"We don't know if that's what's going to happen. That's just the worst case scenario," Lopmon sighed. "Let's… try to flip our way of thinking."
"What do you mean?" Labramon asked.
"Instead of thinking of this as a bad thing… what if this was a good thing? A blessing in disguise?" Lopmon pointed out.
"How so?" Biyomon questioned.
"Didn't we come here to help them get out of… well, the trap set for them?" Lopmon pointed out. "Having them remember is unstable, and risky, but the fact it happened to one of them, and the world hasn't started crumbling before us, is a good sign. We could explain things to him as much as we're allowed to, and he could become our ally. He could help deter the sabotagers since they're not allowed to be seen by any of them anyways. He could not just help cover for us when we have to inevitably leave, but he can maybe even guide the rest of them out when we can't anymore."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Patamon asked. "I mean… yeah, it's a good idea, but that's a lot of pressure to put on a young kid his age."
"I know that. But considering what he's been through before, I think he can handle it," Lopmon replied. "And… I know he'll want to help them when he realizes the situation they're in."
The other four Rookie-level Digimon looked at one another. They knew Lopmon had a point, but that didn't mean they liked it.
"I don't like this." Labramon admitted at last. "But you have a valid point. When… we have to leave… the children will need someone to guide them through this."
"But I don't understand, why Tommy? Why just him?" Kokuwamon asked. "It could've been any of them, Takuya, Koji, JP, Zoe… but it's Tommy who loosened the seal on his memories?"
"Tommy's a smart kid. And he's been through a lot… bad and traumatizing experiences aren't so easily forgotten," Lopmon answered. "He must've been somewhere where most of his bad memories were triggered, and that's what caused the seal to loosen so much."
"That makes sense, even if it really sucks…" Kokuwamon sighed.
"But is this really a good thing? I'd feel bad to put this kind of pressure on him…" Biyomon frowned.
"To be honest… it's the best thing to happen so far. When we took on this mission, we weren't at all sure if we would be able to guide them enough to get them to escape the trap once we're forced to leave. The world, and the master of the world, are putting rules on us that make it near impossible for us to win this game," Lopmon stated. "At least once we're forced to leave, the others will still have someonewho knows what's really going on to get them out."
As much as the others hated to admit it, Lopmon had a point.
Biyomon then chuckled. "This could be a work around for those rules too if we look at it as a good thing."
"And knowing Tommy, he'll definitely want to do this. If it had been anyone else, they would think the same," Patamon agreed before giving a small smile. "This might just work."
"Hey guys? Mind if I joined you?" A familiar voice spoke up, getting their attention.
The group saw Tommy walking over to them.
"Speak of the teddy bear…" Lopmon whispered with an amused tone.
"Of course not, you're welcome to join us. Actually, we were thinking about talking to you about something important anyways," Patamon said as he gestured for Tommy to sit with them.
"I take it you're done with your spar though?" Labramon asked.
"Yeah, I am." Tommy replied as he sat down next to the five Rookie-level Digimon. "I've been getting a headache, so we figured it might be best if I sit out for now."
"Are you alright?" Biyomon asked.
"I'm alright now…" Tommy answered. "I guess those weird memories started popping up again. I just wish I knew what they meant, and if I need to be worried…"
Patamon and the other Digimon looked at one another, feeling uneasy about the whole thing.
"Well… I don't think it's anything to be worried about…" Kokuwamon offered up. "I wouldn't say it's a bad thing."
"I guess…" Tommy said before he looked at them. "What was it that you guys wanted to tell me?"
All the Digimon hesitated to speak up. It was Lopmon who decided to explain. "Well, Tommy… the truth is… we have more than just one reason to follow you guys. We've been sent here on a mission specifically to help you all."
Tommy blinked in surprise. "Y-You were?" He asked, not sure what to make of this revelation. "W-why didn't you tell us that from the beginning?"
"It's not something we can just tell you. It's a risk just telling you this now," Lopmon answered. "There are… laws and restrictions put on us. We can't say certain things, they just turn into light energy from our mouths if we tried. Besides, you guys didn't know us at the beginning, you might find it suspicious that we were here specifically for all of you."
"It got harder when some of us got split up due to circumstances," Kokuwamon said. "Like when I got caught in the Wind Factory."
"And when I went with Koji, who didn't want to go with the group for a while," Labramon said.
"Or when I tried not to let myself get attached to you guys," Biyomon added.
"But now we're all together again," Patamon said before hesitating. "Okay, maybe not allof us, but most of us are here. And we've been discussing on the best course of action."
"We can't tell the others about our true mission. It could put us in danger," Lopmon warned. "The only reason we're telling you this now is because of your… other memories."
"My… other memories?" Tommy asked, confused. "You mean the ones I've been having of people I've never met, and the incidents that feel so familiar but foreign at the same time?"
"Yes." Patamon replied. "That's exactly why."
Tommy furrowed his eyes in confusion. "But why am I having these memories?"
"Those memories… regardless of what you think, they're very much real. All of those memories you have, the people you have met yet never met before… they all happened to you," Lopmon revealed.
"Then… What about the memories I have now?" Tommy asked, feeling a bit distressed. "Are they all fake? Is everyone else fake?"
"Tommy, I assure you, everything happening now is also real." Patamon said gently. "But… That is all we can really say due to the restrictions placed on us."
"But I don't understand… how could both of my memories be real?" Tommy asked. "They contradict each other… I… I had a memory of Kazemon fighting me earlier. She seemed to think I was an enemy, it didn't seem like a friendly spar at all. And I was yelling back, asking what she was, and that I didn't do anything wrong. How could that have happened?"
"Okay… listen Tommy…" Lopmon said. "There's something you need to know in order for that to make sense, and why we're here in the first place… You, Takuya, Koji, Zoe, and JP are all very much real people. We are also real. But… about how you all got here…"
Tommy frowned, seeing how Lopmon's words carried some heavy weight to them.
"I will warn you, Tommy… once you know about this, you'll have a heavy burden placed on you," Lopmon warned. "But… you are our best hope of… helping us complete our mission."
Tommy looked down in thought. It seemed like Lopmon and the others had a big burden on them, and they could only do so much with the restrictions they had on them. And the little Digimon really did want them, the children, to succeed in whatever mission they had here in the Digital World. And if this could help explain his two sets of memories as well, he was willing to listen. Tommy wasn't sure he was ready to handle this burden Lopmon was talking about, but he wanted to help in any way he could.
Finally, after some thought, Tommy looked up and nodded. "I'll do my best to help you and the others, Lopmon."
"Alright… but even though you don't have the same restrictions as we do, I do request that you don't tell the others what you're about to hear. There's a good chance something bad will happen if they all know, we're already taking a chance telling you," Labramon warned.
Tommy nodded. "I promise I won't tell them."
"Okay. Then here's the truth about why you have two sets of memories…" Lopmon began.
Lobomon slashed at Agunimon with his Lobo Kendo, dual wielding the two lightsabers.
Agunimon blocked with his armored forearms, calling forth his shield close to his arms, grunting as he held the glowing blades back. "Not bad…" He grunted out before pushing the swords back. He then called forth fire from his silver wrist armor, throwing it at Lobomon. "Pyro Darts!"
Lobomon blocked the Pyro Darts with his lightsabers easily.
"Is that the best you've got?" Lobomon challenged before he pointed one of his arms at Agunimon. "Howling Laser!"
Lobomon shot out a bright laser at Agunimon.
Agunimon dodged the laser and held out his arms at his sides before slamming his fists together. Fire formed around his fists. "No it isn't!" He said before punching at Lobomon. "Pyro Punch!"
The first fiery punch was blocked by Lobomon's swords, but the second Pyro Punch hit the other humanoid Digimon in the side. Lobomon was sent stumbling back as he held his side. "Ugh… That was no weak punch…"
Agunimon gave a cheeky grin. "Don't mess with fire, because you'll get burned."
"Can you get any more childish?" Lobomon groaned before he got back to his feet. "Your punch may be strong, but don't forget, that could leave you vulnerable to the enemy!"
With Agunimon so close, Lobomon was able to slash him with his lightsabers.
Agunimon grunted as he was hit by the light swords. One slashed at his chest armor, leaving a burn on it, the other nicked his right side. Agunimon smirked before he grabbed one of Lobomon's arms in his hand. "Gotcha!"
Agunimon then grabbed Lobomon and managed to flip the other Warrior over his head to the ground. Lobomon grunted loudly as he landed on his back, the wind knocked from his lungs.
"Do you give up yet?" Agunimon grinned.
"Not… even… close!" Lobomon replied before he had his foot kick Agunimon back before he rolled over on the ground to get back to his feet.
"Ow…" Agunimon groaned as he rubbed at where he had been kicked. "Not bad…"
Lobomon smirked. "Let's see how you like this little move!" He declared before his lightsabers began to glow brighter as he channeled energy into them.
Agunimon's eyes widened as he saw what was going on. What the heck? What's going on with Lobomon's swords?
Lobomon's eyes glinted before he let loose with his newest move. "Howling Shockwave!"Swinging his lightsabers, Lobomon unleashed two shockwaves of pure light energy at Agunimon.
Agunimon did not expect the new move, so he was hit by both shockwaves and blown back. Agunimon hit the ground on his back, groaning as he managed to sit up slightly. One shockwave had hit his chest armor while the other had hit his lower leg armor, creating burn marks on his armor.
"Ugh… What wasthat?" Agunimon asked once he regained his senses.
Lobomon gave a ghost of a smirk. "A new move I learned on Toy Island while trying to save your sorry butt."
"Oh come on, are you going to keep bringing that up?" Agunimon groaned.
"Only until I lose interest in it," Lobomon snickered. "Now… had enough?"
"Not yet." Agunimon replied with a grin as he got back to his feet.
"Alright then." Lobomon grinned. He ran at Agunimon and his lightsabers glowed brighter with energy once more.
Seeing the swords glowing, Agunimon held up his arms in a defensive move and Lobomon unleashed his Howling Shockwave attack again.
Agunimon concentrated as fire flickered from the openings in his armor on his shoulders, wrists, knees, and ankles, forming into that shield again. The name of the move slipped out with Agunimon not even aware he said it. "Plasma Sphere!"
The shield blocked the Howling Shockwave attack, but the shield did get cracked, showing the power Lobomon's new move had.
"So it looks like I'm not the only one who learned a new trick," Lobomon commented.
"Yup! And I finally have a name for it!" Agunimon grinned.
"Good for you, but you can't stay on the defensive forever!" Lobomon replied before he ran up to the Plasma Shield and started to hammer away at it with his swords.
Agunimon grinned as a new idea came to mind. "Oh, I won't!" He exclaimed as the sphere began to become conical and Agunimon then began to draw the fire towards him as he spun around, forming his strongest move. "Pyro Tornado!"
As Lobomon was engulfed in the flames, he tried one last attempt to hit Agunimon. "Howling Laser!"
Agunimon, due to creating the tornado, had no way to dodge or block the incoming attack. Agunimon yelped as he was hit point blank by the Howling Laser right in the chest.
The Pyro Tornado died down, dropping a burnt Lobomon to the ground. Agunimon and Lobomon were surrounded by fractal code, turning back into their human forms.
They both took a moment to catch their breath before sitting up.
"I guess… you're a lot tougher than you look…" Koji admitted.
Takuya grinned back. "You're… not bad yourself…" He replied back. "That new move of yours… has some power behind it…"
Koji chuckled. "Yeah… but it saved my butt so… I can't complain."
"How do you think… the others are doing?" Takuya asked.
"We were done a little while ago," JP spoke up.
"Yeah, we were just watching you two go at it," Zoe chuckled.
"You guys sure have a lot of stamina to have kept going for as long as you did. Either that or you both were running on pure rivalry alone," JP snickered.
Koji and Takuya blushed.
"W-we were not running on pure rivalry!" Koji protested.
"Yeah! We were just having too much fun sparring!" Takuya added.
"So you wererunning on your rivalry?" Zoe snickered. "That's boys for you~"
Takuya groaned as he buried his head in his hands. "Me and my big mouth…"
"When did we even become rivals?" Koji questioned.
"Don't ask me," Takuya grumbled before looking at Zoe and JP. "Where's Tommy? Wasn't he sparring with you guys?"
"He got a headache and had to stop." Zoe replied. "So it was just me and JP sparring."
"Yeah, but I'm worried about the squirt." JP admitted. "He seemed a bit out of it too."
"He seems to be talking with the Digimon right now," Koji pointed out.
"Oh, I wonder what they're discussing? They're talking pretty quietly over there," Zoe wondered in curiosity.
Tommy was trying to process the information he was given. Of all the things that could've explained his strange double memories, he didn't expect it to be this.
"It sounds pretty unbelievable, doesn't it?" Labramon frowned. "Even I still have trouble believing it."
"So… that's what is going on, huh?" Tommy finally asked. "I… I don't know if I'm ready for this, but…"
"It's alright to feel overwhelmed by this… it's no surprise it would come as a big shock to you," Lopmon said softly, putting a comforting hand on Tommy's arm. "We had been debating on whether or not we should've told you."
"Y-yeah, I get it… It's just… I can't believe this happened. We all… I mean… allof us are…" Tommy frowned, trying to find the right words.
"You see why we need as much help as we can get, right?" Patamon said. "With these restrictions and rules, it's nearly impossible to really help you guys the way we want to help."
"N-No… I get it… I do." Tommy replied. "You need my help to make this happen, so… I'll do what I can to help."
"Thank you, we really appreciate it," Biyomon said.
"You don't know how much this means to us," Kokuwamon sighed in relief.
"But… what can I do to help?" Tommy asked. "What can I do that the rest of you can't? You already had me promise not to tell them anything. But how can I help them if they don't know what's really going on?"
"At some point, when you guys… reach another milestone, we won't be able to stay with you," Lopmon answered. "So it helps to have someone on the inside with the necessary information to know what to do. And… you know what needs to be done, don't you?"
"Yeah… we'll keep going to the Forest Terminal, then from there…" Tommy began.
"Hey Tommy, what are you guys talking about?" Takuya cheerfully asked as he and the others approached them.
Tommy and the other Digimon jumped, none of them had been paying attention to the others.
"Ah, nothing! Nothing important!" Tommy quickly said. "We were just chatting about stuff, that's all!"
"Yeah, you know how we love to talk and all that," Labramon nervously chuckled.
Takuya raised an eyebrow. "Really? What kind of stuff were you talking about?"
Koji scoffed. "Probably something boring or for little kids."
"Heh… yeah… just little kid stuff," Tommy nervously agreed.
"So, uh… it looks like you guys are done sparring?" Kokuwamon spoke up, trying to quickly change the subject.
"Yeah, we are." JP confirmed. "Man, you missed it! Koji and Takuya really went at it!"
"Who knew they were so strong?" Zoe agreed. "Both made their spar a draw actually."
"Good news, I finally named my shield move as well." Takuya grinned.
"Oh, really? What's the name of the shield move?" Patamon asked.
"I call it the Plasma Sphere!" Takuya smiled. "What do you think?"
"Nice, the name is pretty fitting," Patamon chuckled.
"You guys should take a break and rest up, maybe eat some snacks that Togemon packed for us before we start our spars with you," Biyomon suggested.
The kids were more than eager to start chowing down. It didn't take long for the meat buns and other snacks to vanish into the kids' stomachs, they were that hungry.
"So are you doing alright, Tommy?" Takuya asked. "Zoe and JP told me that you had a headache earlier?"
Tommy looked over at Takuya. "I'm doing better now." At least now I know why I've been getting these other memories."Takuya, do you think if we had met under different circumstances, you might think I was an enemy? Or… I guess more like Grumblemon, a bad Legendary Warrior?"
Takuya blinked as he looked at Tommy in surprise. "Why would you ask me that? Where did that come from?"
"Oh… it's just something to think about had we not been lucky enough to all be together when we got our Legendary Warrior Spirits," Tommy replied.
Takuya looked down, a thoughtful look on his face. "That's… I guess it depends on the circumstances under which we would have met." He admitted at last.
"I wouldn't worry about that anyways, it didn't happen, so why worry?" JP remarked.
"Yeah, I guess so," Tommy said.
"How does everyone feel?" Lopmon asked.
"Definitely a bit tired, but feeling ready for a second round of sparring." Zoe replied.
"I'm game for sparring again." Takuya agreed.
"I'm in." Koji said with a grunt.
"I'm ready for a second round." JP agreed.
"Alright, then you guys get to choose, who do you want to spar against?" Biyomon asked. "Only one Digimon per Legendary Warrior."
"You make it sound like we're on sale in a market or something," Patamon chuckled.
Biyomon grumbled. "Hush up, and let them choose."
"Hmmm…" Koji looked at the five Rookie-level Digimon. "I think I will spar against… Kokuwamon. If we spar against different Digimon rather than the one we were traveling with, it would boost our experience in combat."
"I guess I'll go with Biyomon." JP replied.
"I'll get Labramon." Takuya remarked.
"I get Lopmon!" Zoe squealed.
"Then that leaves me with Patamon." Tommy noted.
The Legendary Warriors stood on the opposite sides to the Digimon they chose to spar with.
"They seem a lot bigger now that we're facing them like this. Is this really a good idea?" Kokuwamon asked.
"If we want to get stronger ourselves, we need to do this," Biyomon said. "Don't be a baby."
"You don't have to face wolf boy with his lightsabers," Kokuwamon grumbled.
"I'm a little unsure about this myself though," Labramon nervously said. "We could get hurt because they're not sure how to hold back on us."
"If nothing else, at least we'll see what we're capable of against the Legendary Warriors," Lopmon stated.
"This should be interesting." Patamon agreed. He then shivered. "I just hope it doesn't go badly. The children are stronger than us."
On the other side of the battlefield, the Legendary Warriors were looking at the Digimon.
"Are we sure this is a good idea? I don't want to accidentally hurt them," Kazemon said worriedly. "They're really small, and cute."
"Yeah… I feel kinda uneasy about this myself…" Agunimon admitted nervously. "I mean… we're so much stronger than them…"
"We need to know how to handle smaller and weaker opponents though." Lobomon pointed out.
"I think we can handle them just fine." Kumamon said, but his face gave away his own nervousness.
"You're not the strongest of us physically though." Beetlemon grumbled. "I'm the one who is worried the most. I could easily turn one of them into a Digi-Egg."
"Let's just try to relax, if we're too tense, we might end up accidentally hurting them," Kumamon said.
"We're ready when you guys are!" Patamon called out.
"Alright, let's do this!" Agunimon spoke up.
The groups of 5 ran at each other.
Agunimon decided to start out small and easy with his Pyro Darts. Labramon showed her impressive speed by dodging the Pyro Darts with ease as she moved closer towards him. When she managed to get in close, she tackled him in the stomach.
Agunimon coughed in pain as he staggered back, holding his stomach with one of his hands. "Ow…" He rasped out.
Geez… Labramon isstrong … stronger than I expected…Agunimon thought as he panted, trying to get the aching hit to stop hurting. "That… was unexpected…"
Labramon grinned as she was crouched to the ground in her battle position. "Don't underestimate your opponent too much, as Lopmon would say, that could cost you dearly in a real fight."
Agunimon decided going easy wasn't exactly a good idea, not since Labramon had hit him so hard. Fire coated his hands as he clenched his fists. "Let's see how you handle this then. Pyro Punch!"
Labramon took a deep breath as Agunimon was coming in. "Retriever Bark!"
Labramon gave a loud barking sound at Agunimon, which distracted him from being able to use his full power into his Pyro Punch, weakening it. Labramon jumped back just as Agunimon reached her. He managed to nick her front paws before hitting the ground.
Agunimon stumbled, losing his balance with Labramon running at him, causing him to trip. "WAH!" He hit the ground on his stomach. "Ow…"
Labramon tackled him on the side, although it didn't appear to be an attack, she was able to inflict some damage on him with it. Agunimon rolled to his feet, knowing he needed to stop fooling around. Labramon was surprisingly a dangerous opponent. It was likely why Koji kept Labramon around, she was able to handle herself pretty well.
"Okay, no more holding back…" Agunimon muttered to himself as he stood his ground. Narrowing his eyes, Agunimon concentrated his fire on his feet before jumping up and kicking out, unleashing fiery shockwaves at Labramon. He didn't put toomuch energy into the attack, but it was strong enough to do some damage to Labramon.
Labramon let out a yip as her fur was being burned by the flames, and she fell back a bit.
"Are you okay?" Agunimon asked, worried he may have hurt Labramon.
Labramon shook herself before getting back on her feet. "I'm fine, let's keep going."
Meanwhile, Lobomon was using one lightsaber to attack Kokuwamon, who was flying around Lobomon. Kokuwamon was being cautious of Lobomon's melee attacks.
"Power Surge!"Kokuwamon unleashed an electric shock attack on Lobomon.
Lobomon dodged the attack, but he was wary of the small electric bug Digimon. He decided to switch things up and use his own long-ranged attack. Aiming his left arm at Kokuwamon, Lobomon fired off his own attack. "Howling Laser!"
Of course, being small and able to fly, Kokuwamon was able to dodge the attack coming at him. "Woohoo! Flying is awesome!"
Lobomon growled to himself. Who knew fighting a small opponent would be so difficult? Kokuwamon might not be strong, but he is fast and able to fly. I may have bitten off more than I can handle with this…
Kokuwamon moved at Lobomon quickly as electricity sparked on his head. "Stun Shock!"
Kokuwamon acted like a taser and shoved his head at Lobomon's shoulder, shocking him, and making his arm go numb.
Lobomon cried out as his arm turned numb, making it hard to use his sword. The hilt deactivated and fell from his hand. He couldn't use his Howling Laser because it was his left arm that had been hit. Darn it! I'm fighting one-handed now…
Reaching back behind him, Lobomon drew out his other sword hilt and ignited the lightsaber blade. "Guess I can't fight close range. I'll have to go long-range." He muttered as his sword began to glow brighter.
Lobomon swung his blade, a shockwave of pure light energy being unleashed. "Howling Shockwave!"
"Howling what now- OH GOSH!" Kokuwamon shouted as the shockwave hit him and made him fall down to the ground.
Seeing this, Lobomon took this opportunity to rush at Kokuwamon before the machine Digimon could fly back up again. Kokuwamon quickly gathered his bearings, knowing that Lobomon was coming his way. He looked up in time to see Lobomon about to strike him with his lightsaber. Kokuwamon quickly held up his hands to block the lightsaber. He barely managed to catch the blade, having his scissor-like hands clamp down on it.
Lobomon grunted as he tried to get his blade free, only to smirk as he then deactivated the blade. However, this left him open since there was nothing keeping Kokuwamon from using his electrical attacks on the bigger Digimon. "Power Surge!"
Lobomon yelped as he was hit by the electric attack and Kokuwamon quickly flew back up into the air.
Whew, that was close! I gotta be more careful!Kokuwamon thought nervously.
Speaking of flying, Beetlemon and Biyomon were the only ones able to duke it out in the air together. Biyomon was moving around in the air quickly, dodging Beetlemon's Thunder Fists. She then landed on Beetlemon's head.
"Turbo Pecker!"Biyomon then began to rapidly peck at Beetlemon's face like a woodpecker.
Beetlemon yelped as he put his hands in front of his face. "H-hey! Ow! That hurts!"
Electricity crackled around his hands before Beetlemon let loose, punching at Biyomon. "Thunder Fist!"
Biyomon dodged the Thunder Fist attack, flying out of there before Beetlemon could hit her. So Beetlemon ended up hitting himself on the head.
"WAH!" Beetlemon yelped as he was shocked by his own attack. "Ow… Being the Warrior of Thunder really has its advantages, including having resistance against my own element… But that smarts anyway…"
Biyomon felt a smirk tugging at her beak. "What's the matter? Can't hit me, bug boy~?"
"Hey, don't think you're untouchable just because you dodged a few moves! Not even the Warrior of Wind can dodge this!" Beetlemon called out. " Discharge!"
Beetlemon shot out waves of electricity in the air. Biyomon's eyes went wide and she wrapped her body up with her wings to defend herself as much as she could just before the electricity zapped her.
Beetlemon grinned as he saw his attack hit. "Awesome! It seems Kazemon's efforts helping me paid off!"
Biyomon spread out her wings, shaking her head. "Nice try, Beetlemon, but it's not the first time I got hit by electricity. Spiral Twister!"
Biyomon shot out green flames that went in a spiral at Beetlemon.
Beetlemon yelped as he saw the incoming flames. He flew down in a dive, avoiding the Spiral Twister attack. "Whoa! That was close!"
While Beetlemon was distracted, Biyomon flew at Beetlemon and flipped around, shoving her talons into his chest. "Bird Kick!"
Beetlemon grunted as he was hit, but his armor was able to take the damage easily, being stronger and thicker than the armor of the other Legendary Warriors. He grinned behind his face plate and grabbed Biyomon's legs. "Nice try!" He exclaimed as electricity surged up his hand and to Biyomon's body.
Biyomon let out a scream as she was being electrocuted. "Spiral Wing!"
Biyomon summoned a twist of wind around her body, pushing Beetlemon off of her. She took a moment to take a breath. "Not bad… you're definitely quite the bulky guy."
Beetlemon chuckled sheepishly. "Yeah, I've noticed that too. But being bulky isn't a bad thing in this case, since I can take more damage than the others."
"Oh, I never said it was a bad thing, just annoying for meto be able to do much to you," Biyomon huffed.
Kazemon flew through the sky, passing by Biyomon and Beetlemon. Her opponent was locked to the ground, but that didn't mean he couldn't use her own winds to get up into the air himself if he needed to. His ears seem to act like a balloon on a blimp, able to raise up higher with the right source. But Kazemon had the advantage in the air, so Lopmon didn't try to catch up to her in the sky.
Instead, Lopmon knew it would be smarter to wait for his opponent to try to get to him on the ground. She would have to come down to him at some point after all.
Kazemon flew down, preferring to avoid using her Hurricane Wave against Lopmon in case she sent him flying away from the group. She flew in close to Lopmon, deciding to use a kick against him instead.
Lopmon was a small opponent, so it was difficult for Kazemon to land a kick on him. Lopmon jumped from one side to another to avoid her kicks. He covered himself with his ears, acting as a cushion when Kazemon did finally manage to kick him. Lopmon quickly uncovered himself and clung onto Kazemon's leg. This surprised Kazemon.
"Blazing Ice!"Lopmon shot out a cold wind onto Kazemon's leg, covering it in ice.
"H-Hey! That's cold!" Kazemon exclaimed as she tried to grab Lopmon to stop him from freezing her leg further. She found herself faltering in the air, and due to the extra weight of Lopmon, and his ice, on her leg, it made staying in the air much more difficult. "Whoa!"
Lopmon jumped off of her leg and began spinning himself around. "Tiny Twister!"
Lopmon caught Kazemon up in the Tiny Twister attack, using his ears to rapidly hit her.
"Hey! Stop it! Ow! That hurts! Ow! Ouch! Ow!" Kazemon yelped as she was being hit over and over again by Lopmon's ears.
After a minute, the Tiny Twister died down, and Lopmon glided back to the ground. "Come on, you have to keep your guard up. Don't think that just because I'm small I can't handle myself. Never underestimate your opponent or you won't last very long."
Kazemon regained her bearings and shook her head. Lopmon's right… I didn't want to hurt him because he's so much smaller and weaker than me… but if I hold back, others could get the jump on me.
Kazemon looked at Lopmon before she held up her hands and small tornados appeared above her fingers. "Hurricane Wave!"
The Hurricane Wave blew Lopmon back by several feet into the air. Lopmon quickly flapped his ears around to regain his sense of balance, then he spun around, creating another twister, though this one was a lot bigger due to the Hurricane Wave mixed in with it.
Lopmon then fell out of the twister he created, hitting the ground, feeling rather dizzy. Taking her chance, Kazemon rushed forward and kicked Lopmon again. Lopmon rolled on the ground before shaking his head. He managed to get back up and grinned.
"Now that's more like it!" Lopmon praised. "Come on, let's keep going."
Kazemon gave a small smile as well. "Thanks, and don't worry~ I have a few things to play yet!" Kazemon then flipped onto her hands and began to spin around with her legs spread out wide. "Tempest Twist!"
Lopmon shielded himself with his ears again as the kick was much more powerful this time around. He was kicked further away before he hit a tree behind him. Lopmon shook his head for a moment as he looked up, seeing Kazemon flying in the air again. Lopmon got back on his feet and began moving around quickly.
Kazemon was coming in for another attack. This time as she was coming down, she created more wind. "Hurricane Wave!"
But this time Lopmon was ready for it. He quickly inflated his ears to use the wind to fly up into the sky with the wind, moving his body to get behind her.
"Blazing Ice!"Lopmon aimed his icy wind for her wings.
Kazemon yelped as she felt the icy wind on her wings, slowly freezing them over. "GAH! That's freezing!"
Unable to fly with iced-over wings, Kazemon flew down to the ground and landed, but she fell onto her stomach with a grunt. "Oof!"
Lopmon landed on her head. "Had enough?"
"Ugh… No, but I don't think I can fly for the remainder of the fight…" Kazemon grumbled as she tried to move her icy wings.
"You have to watch out for if your enemy tries to go for your wings to keep you grounded," Lopmon warned. "Let's see how you fight while on the ground."
Lopmon hopped off of Kazemon's head and turned to face her. "Come on, The Warrior of Wind shouldn't give up so easily even if she can't fly."
Kazemon got to her feet and grinned. "I won't give up despite being grounded."
Running at Lopmon, Kazemon threw another kick at him. "Tornado Kick!"
"Whoa!" Lopmon jumped, though he was still kicked into the air.
Lopmon ended up going past Kumamon and Patamon, who were staring each other down. Patamon was nervous because unlike with the others, Kumamon didn't rely on his power to fight, he used a lot of clever ideas and strategy along with his power. Patamon wondered if the others even knew that Kumamon had the potential to be more dangerous than the rest of them due to this mindset.
Just my luck that Kumamon picked me to be his sparring partner instead of Lopmon.Patamon noted. Guess I better watch my step with this icy bear.
Kumamon got out his blaster and aimed it at Patamon. "You ready, Patamon?"
"Let's see what you've got," Patamon responded with a grin.
Kumamon grinned as well before he fired off his attack. "Blizzard Blaster!"
Kumamon was firing out snowballs at Patamon. Patamon flew around the rapid firing snowballs, tucking in his wings a few times to roll around to try to keep dodging the attack as he was trying to get closer to Kumamon. Patamon had more than his fair share of being attacked with range attacks, he wasn't a whiz at dodgeball for nothing. After all, he's dealt with a few strong people trying to pelt him before. Though Kumamon was clearly starting out easy, so Patamon needed to keep his guard up.
When Patamon got close enough, he tucked in his wings and his arms to dive at Kumamon's chest. "Body Blow!"
Patamon tackled Kumamon with his entire body.
"Ow!" Kumamon stumbled back, almost dropping his gun. "That hurt…" Geez… Patamon has some strength to him… And he's fast, so I have to make sure I get in blows before he can hit me.
Patamon quickly looked back at Kumamon's gun, thinking quickly, he jumped at Kumamon's hand. "Wing Slap!"
Patamon slapped Kumamon's hand with his wings, making him drop his gun.
Disarming his opponent, clever.Kumamon noted, seeing what Patamon was doing.
Patamon's body then inflated. "Boom Bubble!"
Patamon shot out a large air bubble at Kumamon.
Kumamon took a deep breath before letting out an icy wind at the air bubble. "Crystal Breeze!"
The two attacks collided, causing the Crystal Breeze to make the Boom Bubble attack blow up in a burst of icy fragments. Kumamon took this chance to jump at Patamon. Patamon yelped as Kumamon then body slammed him into the ground. Patamon wiggled and struggled to get out from under Kumamon, thankfully he was able to get out.
Kumamon blew out a smaller Crystal Breeze at Patamon's back, making it hard for him to fly back into the air right away. What caught Patamon off guard was the fact Kumamon didn't say his attack out loud, so he didn't expect Kumamon to suddenly freeze his back.
"H-hey! What's with me and getting hit by attacks that weigh me down?!" Patamon whined as he felt the ice on his back, freezing through his fur.
"To keep you from flying away?" Kumamon replied like it was obvious before he melted his hand and formed it into a sharp ice.
Patamon, seeing this, knew he better do something quickly. He turned around and jumped to the side, avoiding the ice. Then he inflated his body again. If I can't face Kumamon head on, I'll have go invisible in a different way.
"Breeze Blaster!"Instead of shooting out a large air bubble, Patamon blew out mist instead, covering the area between him and Kumamon.
Kumamon blinked as he realized the area was being covered in mist. "Okay, that's new…"
Seeing Kumamon was caught off guard, Patamon grinned to himself. Hehehe… Now we can have some fun~
Patamon moved through the mist, taking care to avoid Kumamon's line of sight directly.
Kumamon frowned as he looked around, trying to find Patamon. Where is he? This mist makes it hard to see him.
"Boom Bubble!"
A large air bubble came in, and Kumamon quickly jumped out of the way. That was close!
Then something slammed into him from behind, pushing him down onto the ground.
"Ow!" Kumamon yelped as he landed face first in the dirt. Pushing himself upright, Kumamon spat out what little dirt had gotten into his mouth. "Ugh… Why do worms like to eat dirt? It tastes gross."
Getting to his feet, Kumamon looked around for any sign of his attacker, whom he knew had to be Patamon. Patamon's clever, using the mist to his advantage. And his smaller size makes it harder to spot him. I need to find a way to either remove this mist, or hit Patamon despite being unable to see him.
Kumamon knew this mist was making it harder to see, but unless Patamon was able to see in the mist, he shouldn't be able to see that well either. There had to be a reason why Patamon didn't use this move very much despite the advantage it could give him. Kumamon came up with an idea. Patamon was likely using the area he last saw Kumamon as a landmark on where to attack. So Kumamon just… had to not be there.
Patamon fired out more Boom Bubbles, but he hadn't heard his attacks coming into contact with anything. Frowning, Patamon moved closer to where he last saw Kumamon. But he only saw the ground, and some puddles.
Where did he go?Patamon wondered as he flew closer to the ground to check for Kumamon's footprints.
When Patamon landed, the 'puddle' suddenly snatched him up. Patamon yelped as the 'puddle' formed back into Kumamon. Thanks to the mist, Patamon didn't realize how white the puddle looked until it was too late.
"Gotcha~" Kumamon grinned.
Patamon cursed to himself mentally. I justhad to get stuck with the most dangerous of the Legendary Warriors for a sparring partner…
Kumamon couldn't help but snicker as Patamon tried to squirm out of his grip. "That wasn't a bad move, huh?"
Patamon glanced back at Kumamon and smirked himself. "Never drop your guard against your opponent. Wing Slap!"He smacked Kumamon in the face with his wings rapidly.
Kumamon yelped as he let go of Patamon to rub his face. "Cheap shot… but a clever one."
The mist lifted up as it couldn't stay around for long, and Kumamon saw his gun on the ground. He quickly rushed to pick it up, and started firing the snowballs at Patamon. Patamon yelped as he flew around, trying to dodge the snowballs again, though he did get pelted a few times.
"Cold! Cold! Cold!" Patamon yelped.
Kumamon snickered. "What? Are my attacks too chillingfor you to handle?"
"Oh, a pun! Maybe I've corrupted you more than I thought, Lopmon is so going to hate me for it!" Patamon grinned as he was shaking the snow off of his body.
After a while, the sparring session was finished. A few of the Digimon had been too tired to keep going, while others just called it.
"You guys are surprisingly good at keeping up with us," Agunimon stated.
"Well, we do realize we're a lot weaker than the more threatening Digimon. So we have to find a way to outsmart them if we hope to stand a chance," Lopmon explained.
"Though the real dangers come if the enemy is both powerful and intelligent. Thankfully we haven't run into any enemies that are like that… yet… they're usually focused on brute force, or heavily underestimate us, or they're just far too cocky for their own good," Patamon stated, though he glanced at Kumamon for a second, Kumamon wasn't technically an enemy so he didn't count him.
Lobomon grumbled as he rubbed at his numbed arm. "Tell me about it… I completely fell for Kokuwamon's little trick."
Kokuwamon couldn't help but beam with pride at Lobomon's remark.
"Who knew a little bird could hit so hard?" Beetlemon grumbled. "I've gotten pecked at least a hundred times in the face alone."
"How else was I going to crack open your shell?" Biyomon replied. "It didn't work anyways, now my beak is going to be sore."
Kazemon snickered. "Well, he is called Beetlemon, and beetles have strong shells." Kazemon felt the cold of her iced over wings hitting her. "Brrr… Ice doesn't mix well with me… I didn't expect to have a hard time against a smaller, grounded opponent."
"Flying opponents aren't exactly easy for me either," Lopmon grumbled. "From my experience, it's usually a good idea to find ways to ground the flying opponent if you can't fly yourself. Freezing your wings was the best way for me to do that. But try fighting against enemies that don't need wings to fly, they're just really annoying to deal with."
Kazemon had to give Lopmon that argument. He had a valid point; flying opponents that didn't have wings were far harder to keep grounded.
"At least fighting grounded opponents is easier." Labramon remarked before looking at her singed fur. "Although it's not that easy if your opponent knows how to fight very well…"
"Hey, you did a number on me as well." Agunimon pointed out to Labramon. "And fighting a smaller opponent isn't something I'm used to."
"Heh, good to know I gave you a run for your money, considering from what I've heard, you were able to defeat Ceberumon. A Digimon that scattered most of us around before you arrived," Labramon chuckled.
Agunimon couldn't help but chuckle as well. "That's true. But to be honest, I barely held my own against Cerberumon. It was pure luck that I managed to beat her. If Lopmon and Patamon didn't help, I don't know if I could've beaten her on my own."
"You give us too much credit, at most, we just distracted her a little," Patamon said.
"Well, you were pretty hard to hit, and quite sneaky yourself," Kumamon remarked. "I'm surprised at how fast you are, since you were able to dodge most of my Blizzard Blaster."
"I've had a lot of practice… with, uh, a game a lot of Digimon liked to play called Dodgeball," Patamon sheepishly answered.
"So that'show you were able to dodge it." Kumamon mused before chuckling himself. "Now I know I have to work harder at trying to hit you, or any other small opponent for that matter."
"Keep that in mind for sure, because not every opponent will be a bigger, stronger enemy." Patamon agreed.
"Some of the more dangerous ones are the ones who don't fight you directly," Lopmon warned. "The ones who use their power to manipulate the outcome. Those are the ones you need to watch out for."
The Legendary Warriors each looked down at Lopmon's words, different expressions showing on their faces revealing what they each thought about that. Lobomon's scowl revealed he didn't like opponents who would fight dirty like that while Kazemon's look of nervousness revealed she didn't feel comfortable fighting such an enemy. Agunimon's own face had a look of worry, showing he was uneasy about such an enemy while Beetlemon's facial expressions couldn't be seen clearly. His eyes gave away his unease though. Kumamon was the only one who looked thoughtful about Lopmon's words.
"Don't worry so much, you guys made it this far by working together, I"m sure you'll be able to make it to Forest Terminal if you keep working like you did," Kokuwamon said.
"Kokuwamon is right. I'm only trying to warn you about the potential dangers, not scare you off," Lopmon said. "You each have your own strengths that can cover each other's weaknesses. You've managed to get this far, so there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to make it to the Forest Terminal at this point."
"Yeah, we believe you are all strong enough to handle yourselves in the Digital World," Biyomon added. "Your sparring with us proved how much stronger you've all gotten."
"Though it wouldn't hurt to keep practicing when you can, so you're always prepared in case you need to fight," Labramon added.
"I'm sure you've all learned something today, when you sparred with each other, and with us." Patamon smiled.
Patamon's words did make the Warriors feel somewhat better, as did the words of their other Digimon friends.
"Yeah… You're right." Agunimon agreed with a smile. "I think we alllearned something today, didn't we?"
"I sure did. Watch out for icy Digimon." Kazemon giggled.
"Do you also mean me?" Kumamon asked.
"Only if you end as an enemy," Kazemon replied. "Which I'm sure we don't have to worry about."
Kumamon gave a sheepish chuckle at that. "Yeah… wouldn't want that."
"For now, you guys should release your Spirits so they can rest," Kokuwamon suggested. "We should get moving if we want to get through this place before it gets too dark."
The Warriors nodded before fractal code surrounded each of them before dissipating, revealing the children in their place.
"Wow, am I glad to get that ice off of me!" Zoe exclaimed as she shivered again. "Ice-using opponents are not fun to fight."
"At least my arm isn't numb anymore." Koji said as he moved his left hand experimentally. "That's one thing I need to watch out for."
"I think we allhave to watch out for certain things now." JP agreed, rubbing at his face.
Biyomon smiled a little as she rubbed her beak.
"Just remember the more your opponent feels outmatched, the more desperate they can become, which will make them at their most dangerous," Lopmon stated.
"Yeah, we'll be sure to keep that in mind," Tommy said.
"Well, for now, let's get back on that sailboat and-" Takuya began to say, only to see the sailboat was destroyed, and the pieces were all scattered everywhere. "What happened to the sailboat?"
"Uh… it might've gotten hit by some of our attacks while we were sparring…" JP sweatdropped.
"Collateral damages, something else we have to watch out for," Patamon sweatdropped as well.
"I guess we're walking on foot from now on." Koji grumbled.
"Patamon's right… Collateral damage we need to be mindful of…" Zoe sweatdropped.
"Walking through a forest… Why am I not surprised at this?" Biyomon sighed. "At least Patamon, Kokuwamon, and I can fly, but the rest of you… We'll have to stick close to you so we don't get separated again."
"How far do you think we'll have to go to get to the Forest Terminal?" Tommy asked.
They heard what sounded like a Trailmon's whistle from a distance. Patamon flew up into the sky to see the train tracks over the forest they were about to enter.
"The Forest Terminal should be just beyond those train tracks," Patamon answered as he landed back down to the group.
"Sure looks big." Takuya noted.
"But how much further to the Forest Terminal?" JP pressed.
"Depends on how far that train track is…" Patamon said.
"So in other words… you're not sure," Biyomon deadpanned.
"Hey, I'm no math genius, you should already know that's my worst subject," Patamon huffed.
"Maybe you shouldn't admit that out loud…" Lopmon muttered.
"Digimon can learn math?" Zoe blinked as she looked at Patamon.
"Yes, we can, now can we drop the subject? I'd rather not go into the specifics of how bad I am at math." Patamon grumbled.
"I mean we did just go through a Digimon school, so it's not that weird that Digimon can learn math," Kokuwamon reminded Zoe.
"Yeah, I guess I just didn't expect such a… human lesson to be taught in a Digimon school," Zoe admitted.
"Well, we're not going to get any closer to the Forest Terminal by standing here," Koji spoke up.
"Yeah, let's keep going." Takuya agreed as he continued to walk, the others following him.
"You think we'll be able to make it from here?" Tommy asked.
"Only one way to find out," Labramon said.
The group walked together, heading into the forest, not knowing what potential dangers they were about to face.
Titanic X: ZAFT: Oh, there is more to come! XD Keep reading to find out!
pokemon fan 1991: DarkFoxKit: Agumon and Gabumon definitely have an interesting history. We also wanted to change the episode up a bit more by adding a friend Tsunomon had that had a falling out with him.
ZAFT: And boy, was that fun! XD As for the other Digimon using the Beast Spirits… we kinda already worked something else out to overcome the lack of digivolving… ^^'
DarkFoxKit: The Digimon aren't able to use the Legendary Warriors Spirits anyways, they are strictly for the human characters.
