The Starks of the North have a long history filled with great Kings, wars of conquests to unite the North, and battles to defend it. They are the Kings of Winter and they can do so much more for the North that will change Westerose. It leads into an AU (not a major change) just a different history of the North leading to a stronger North in the end.

145. Chapter 145

This is the end of Volume 1 of this novel. The ending sucks, I won't lie, but the reason is that I hate how I have written it and what I have done wrong with it, and so I want to change that. This will start in volume 2 after I have done more work/ gotten better after the end of Volume 1 of the MUC spy novel I am doing.

After defeating the Ironborn in two decisive battles, Brandon Stark marched to confront the Locke King, who was raiding his lands. Their forces clashed, but neither side could claim victory, resulting in a stalemate. Brandon returned home to protect his kingdom, but his respite was short-lived. The success of Winterfell's winter-resistant crops had made his lands a juicy morsel in a starving North. This abundance drew the envy and desperation of rival kings and bandit lords, sparking the Food Wars, a time of relentless raiding and conflict.

Brandon adapted quickly, balancing defense and expansion to safeguard his people. He built small castles, forts, and outposts across the Winter Kingdom to serve as defensive strongholds and lookouts, allowing his troops to respond quickly to incursions. Battles were fought across his borders—from the Blackwood King's forests to the Marsh King's swamps. Skirmishes, ambushes, and full-scale battles became common, with Brandon leading his forces personally, earning renown as a tireless and fearless leader.

Despite the chaos, Brandon's kingdom thrived. The success of the winter crops revitalized trade, drawing merchants from across the North. The Winter Coin, minted under Brandon's rule, became widely used, bolstering his economy. Trade with allies like the Umbar King and Frost King remained strong, while an unexpected deal with the Greenwood King brought even greater gains. In exchange for food, the Greenwood King ceded lands to Brandon, ensuring his people's survival and further expanding the Winter Kingdom and even his family after having a daughter.

The Food Wars tested Brandon's leadership but also cemented his legacy. The defenses he built and the wealth generated through trade strengthened the kingdom for generations. While the rest of the North faltered, Brandon's Winter Kingdom stood resilient.

As the years passed, Brandon Stark earned the nickname "Bran the Builder" for his relentless efforts in fortifying and improving his lands and creating the foundations for a great kingdom. He oversaw the construction of countless forts, outposts, and defensive works that safeguarded his kingdom during the chaos of the Food Wars. Under his leadership, the Winter Kingdom flourished, becoming a beacon of stability, trade, and innovation in a fractured North. His vision transformed the land into a stronghold not just for his family but for the countless people who sought refuge under his rule.

His dedication to his family and kingdom made him beloved by his people, who viewed him not only as a warrior but as a builder of a great and lasting legacy.

However, time is a foe no man can defeat. As Brandon grew older, the toll of years and wars began to weigh heavily on him. Illness eventually claimed the once-mighty king, and the North mourned the loss of its greatest leader. Brandon passed surrounded by family, his wife Elinor and their children at his side.

His death marked the end of an era, but his legacy endured. Brandon left behind a strong and unified kingdom for his son to inherit. Even in death, Bran the Builder remained a symbol of the kingdom, his works standing tall as monuments to a life spent in service to his people.
