He picked up one of the bowls of soup and placed it on a tray before opening the dimensional door to return to the guest room.
At that moment, Gwen was sitting obediently by the edge of the bed. Upon seeing the familiar golden light, her face lit up with a radiant smile.
"You're back!"
Gwen noticed the chicken soup in Hode's hand, and her eyes sparkled. "You really went to buy the chicken soup!"
Although she had just brushed it off earlier, Hode still brought back a bowl of soup, and it was impossible not to feel touched. It had been a long time since she felt such a warm and heartfelt gesture.
"Look at you; this is just a small thing," Hode said with a smile, playfully pinching Gwen's cheek. "Drinking chicken soup after getting caught in the rain is good for your health."
As Hode extended his hand, Gwen leaned in a little closer, perfectly content.
"But for me, this isn't a small thing; you are wonderful!"
Gwen looked seriously at Hode. She didn't know what other people's relationships were like, but in that moment, she clearly felt the presence of love.
"Come on! Let's drink some chicken soup first."
Releasing her hand, Hode poured out the chicken soup before them.
"You should have some too!"
At that moment, as Hode set down the soup, Gwen took his hand, her eyes filled with an indescribable feeling. This was undoubtedly the purest affection from a girl.
"Okay!"
Hode sat down in a chair, nodding with a smile. In the next second, Gwen plopped down onto his lap like a cute little cat.
"I'll feed you!"
Even though Gwen's face was already red, she still persevered. In fact, she had looked up earlier to find out why men carried guns with them. Now she understood, but despite her embarrassment, she still found herself swaying a bit.
"This little girl!"
Hode thought to himself; this was practically a crime waiting to happen!
After they finished the chicken soup, Hode hugged Gwen and set her next to the bed, saying, "It's getting late, so you should go to bed early."
He had considered whether to send Gwen back first, but it was late at night, and he couldn't quite shake off the unexpected thrill he felt inside.
Somehow, he decided to let Gwen stay in the guest room for the night.
"Ah?" Gwen was taken aback. "So you...?"
The reason she had been so proactive today was that her pseudo-parents were not at home.
So, she had actually prepared for something to happen tonight, but she didn't expect that Hode was planning to leave. This made her feel a bit down, as things seemed to be falling into place.
"Be good. I have a billion-dollar business deal to discuss tonight, so I can't do anything else," he said.
After saying that, Hode ruffled Gwen's fluffy hair and continued, "But I'll make it up to you with a big breakfast tomorrow."
He really had considered whether anything should happen tonight, but it was indeed inconvenient with Wanda around. So, he had to postpone it for a little while. After all, opening a portal was not something that could be done in just twenty or thirty minutes.
(It's just like the physical condition of our readers; it takes at least two or three hours to get started.)
Although he could summon a clone, he wouldn't be foolish enough to do that. Why would he put a label on himself? That would just be plain silly.
"Alright... business is indeed important," Gwen said, nodding earnestly. After all, that billion-dollar project really needed to be considered.
She guessed that was why Hode had disappeared for so long; it was indeed because of work.
She could only nod disheartenedly.
When Hode opened the master bedroom door, what caught the eye was Wanda stretching her curvy body and yawning.
"Why did you come back so late?" Wanda complained in a slightly spoiled tone upon seeing Hode return. She had already been waiting for over twenty minutes and was starting to feel a bit sleepy, but she wanted to wait for him to come back and had to endure the drowsiness.
"Because it was really hard to choose. After all, with games like these, the more props, the more fun they are!" Hode said with a grin as he pulled out a bunch of items from the bag.
Clearly, they were various types of cosplay outfits, and they also included accessories like soft covers and connected props. The selection of socks was even more varied, and just looking at it made one's eyes dizzy.
"What... what are you planning to do?!" Wanda's eyes widened in shock. She expected him to prepare something, but she didn't anticipate that there would be so many. It made her feel slightly overwhelmed. In fact, it directly challenged her worldview!
She didn't even know what some of the items were for. While she knew Hode had some peculiar tastes, this was a bit excessive, wasn't it? This didn't seem like a game that normal people would play!
"No!" Wanda shook her head in fear. Just looking at it gave her a strange feeling of dread. Faced with these complicated items, she wasn't sure if Hode wanted to beat the game in one go.
