[Image description: A perfect side view of an Orca in full breach. The picture has been run through so many filters and color changes that it looks like something out of Lisa Frank's nightmares.]

REDare (verified): ew yuck! This has got to be against community guidelines!

Cetacea_kate: Why do they wear salmon hats?
-Son_Of_Neptune: Don't judge! They don't question your fashion choices

20kLeaguesUnder: Seriously dude, how are you doing this? I know wildlife photographers who would love to get this close to this many animals this quickly

[image description: five different orcas are in frame swimming away from the camera; the photographer is clearly swimming in the middle of a pod. A color fade filter has been applied and the photo looks very artistic.]

The local pod was nice enough to let me hang out for the afternoon

TheBrineyDeep: You really need to understand that any tourist company that lets you pay to hang out with or touch animals is really unethical and bad for the animals! Don't give them your money and leave the animals alone
-Son_Of_Neptune: I didn't pay? I just asked the pod matriarch if I could hang out and take pictures. She's really great

Anakin_Oceanswimmer: What an amazing experience! I bet you'll treasure it forever
-SneakySneaky: Ha! For him, it's Tuesday

LiveLaughLover: That's so adorable! I need to take my kids to SeaWorld!
-Son_Of_Neptune: Blocked

"You're really having fun with this, aren't you?" Annabeth asked.

Percy had just returned from another expedition to the ocean, windswept, hungry, and the happiest he'd been in a while.

"I am. I didn't expect to, but I am. I've spent so much time in the water on quests; it's nice to just hang out instead. And I've never spent much time in the Pacific."

"You should make a weekend of it. Pack some food in a waterproof container and go down towards South America or Hawaii."

"That's a great idea," he said, tentatively. "I haven't explored much of the Pacific yet. Maybe I can go into the deeper waters for a change."

"Do it. The weather is supposed to be terrible next weekend; maybe you'll have better luck avoiding lightning strikes a couple of miles below the surface."

Percy looked at her, his expression turning suspicious. "Frank didn't recruit you to get me out of town, did he?"

"I don't take orders from Frank. I have that big project due the following week, and if you're cooped up in our apartment and bored when I'm trying to work on it, there will be bloodshed."

They both chuckled.

"Seriously, Seaweed Brain, spending this much time in the ocean has been good for you. The last few years have been rough, and it's good to see you joke around again."

"I love you too, Wise Girl."

A/N: If you do any reading into the history of human-orca interactions, it's very quickly obvious that they shouldn't have European-derived names. Since I do not have the knowledge to respectfully use any names from the pacific northwest Native American tribes, I left my Orcas nameless.
