"Yes! Home sweet home!" Abby yelled as she barreled past everyone, then preceded to kiss the ground.
"Ugh, Abby, gross!" Miriam groaned, scrunching her face at the sight of Abby smooching the dirty skydome floor.
Mei just chuckled. "I think you mean 'dimension sweet dimension.'"
Robaire glanced back at the door they'd just come through. As soon as it closed, its frame glowed brightly before vanishing in a flash of light. "Woah..." he murmured.
"Did it just disappear?" Aaron Z asked.
"Well... Mark did say it was going to," Carter replied.
Robaire shook his head in disbelief, then turned back to the group. "Can you guys even believe that just really happened?"
"Nope!" Abby said with a big smile.
"No, but seriously, what other secrets does Toronto hold?" Robaire added.
Mei rolled her eyes at him. "Ugh, it's not our town! At least, I don't think it is."
Meanwhile, Thomas's gaze fell to the necklace Mark had given him.
'Use this to fight off Nerraw,' What Mark had told him, echoed in his mind. Thomas felt a knot of worry tighten in his stomach at the thought of Nerraw showing up again. Who could blame him? A being capable of destroying an entire dimension was not something anyone would want to face. Clutching the necklace tightly, he felt Carter gently place his hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry... you'll be fine," Carter spoke softly.
Thomas looked from Carter to the necklace and sighed, "I... hope so."
"So... I guess we're still on for the dance Tuesday?" Abby piped up.
Aaron T's yes widen, "Oh shit! We didn't finish setting up, did we?!" he yelled.
"No... we didn't," Jesse said.
"Well, let's see if we can wrap things up—it still looks like afternoon outside," Mei suggested.
Later, the entire 4 Town crew and Mei's friends pitched in to finish setting up the skydome.
"Guess we'll have to come back tomorrow to finish up," Aaron Z remarked, stretching.
"Yeah, I'm so tired..." Abby sighed.
Thomas, however, was exhausted beyond measure. After earlier depleting his energy with his flashback and all the help he'd given, he found himself too drained to transform into his engine form to give them all another ride.
"Don't sweat it, Thomas. We can all walk home—it's not too far," Mei reassured him, and Tyler nodded in agreement. "Yeah, at least we aren't lugging any boxes this time." he said.
After bidding farewell to 4 Town, they all started making their way home.
"I can't believe we ended up befriending the entire 4 Town!" Abby screamed excitedly, as they were walking home.
Mei laughed. "I know, right?"
"Guess interdimensional travel really does bring people together," Priya remarked.
Hearing that, Thomas glanced at his hand, still clasped by Carter's. 'Yeah... I guess so,' he thought.
"So, what is everyone doing for the rest of the weekend?" Mei asked, turning to the group.
"I don't know. Maybe we could all hang out?" Miriam suggested.
"I probably can't—I have to help my mom," Mei explained. "She said a visitor is coming by to the temple."
"Doesn't the temple always get visitors?" Tyler asked.
Mei nodded her head. "Yes, but she said this one was special... whatever she means by that."
As they strolled along, they passed by the temple. Outside, Mei's mom, Ming Lee, waited and called out, "Mei-Mei! Did you deliver the stuff to the Skydome?"
"Yes, I did, Mom!" Mei replied.
"Hello, Mrs. Lee!" Tyler greeted cheerfully.
"Hello, Tyler, and hello, everyone," Ming smiled warmly. "Sorry, I'll be a bit busy tonight—the new visitor is here."
"New visitor? They're here already?" Mei asked.
Ming nodded. "Yes!"
Just then, a man in a traditional, fancy Chinese robe stepped out of the temple. Ming introduced him, "Mei, this is Yong Bao."
"Oh... hello!" Mei said, and the rest of the group echoed greetings.
"I love your clothes! So fancy!" Abby remarked with a smile.
Yong Bao smiled at the compliment, "Thank you, young lady." he said.
Thomas noticed that once the man had looked at him—the man looked at him as though he knew him. But Thomas had never seen him before in his life.
It was getting late, and Thomas suddenly remembered he had to get home before his dad started worrying. "Hey... Carter—" he whispered urgently.
Carter turned, "Yeah?"
"I have to get home; Dad's going to wonder where I am."
Carter nodded, then looked over at Mei. "Mei, Thomas and I are heading out. See you Monday at school," he said.
"Okay! See you!" Mei waved.
"Bye, Thomas!" Tyler called.
Later, as they walked, Thomas confided softly, "Something seemed strange with... that Yong guy."
Carter tilted his head, "Huh? Why? He seemed nice to me."
Thomas shook his head. "No, not that—it's just that he looked at me like he already knew me. You know those movies where someone secretly knows another person, but the character doesn't realize it?"
Carter blinked. "I... think you've been watching too many movies."
Thomas rolled his eyes with a giggle. "Ugh, shut up—," he teased, lightly pushing Carter. Carter laughed and returned the playful shove.
"Hey!" Thomas shoved him again, just to have Carter push him all over again.
"Okay, that's it~" Thomas declared as he reached over and began tickling Carter's belly.
"Thhahhahamas! Not that again!" Carter burst into uncontrollable laughter and squirmed away.
"Running away again?! You can't outrun a locomotive!" Thomas called after him, chasing and eventually catching up. He grabbed Carter close, playfully digging his fingers into Carter's belly button until Carter erupted with laughter.
"NOHOHO STHAHAHP!" Carter gasped between giggles. "Geez, that tickles!"
"Yeah, no shit—" Thomas snorted, as he let go off of Carter.
"Hrfm, mean," Carter pouted, folding his arms.
"See you Monday, Carter!" Thomas said as he headed toward his door. Just as he reached for the handle—
"Hey, Thomas, wait—" Carter called.
Before Thomas could reply, Carter's lips met his in a sudden kiss. "Love you," Carter whispered once they broke apart.
Thomas's face flushed bright red. "L-Love you too..." he stammered.
So bashful was he that he forgot he did not open the door, and in his haste to turn around and go inside, he slammed right into the closed door. "Oomph!" he groaned.
Carter saw the mishap and erupted into laughter. "Ugh, stop laughing at me—" Thomas chuckled as he rubbed his sore forehead.
Once inside, Thomas couldn't wait to collapse onto his bed. It had been such a rough day. But as soon as he closed his door and turned around, he saw his dad standing in the living room—arms folded, tapping his foot, silently watching him.
"Uhhh...? Dad?" Thomas called, startled.
