Heya readers, sorry for the delay, I had some writers block, as well as a few things going on around Halloween.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Chased!
Meanwhile, Aurora stirred as she opened her eyes and felt the damp leaves under her hands.
She opened her eyes to see the trees above her head and the dark blue sky which was slowly starting to light up with the dawn.
At first she wasn't sure where she was until she heard Regan's voice.
"Aurora? Are you awake?"
The hybrid looked over and saw Regan looking over her and she jumped slightly.
Regan jumped back as well.
"Sorry," she said "Did I scare you?"
"No." Aurora said "I was just surprised, How did I end up back here?"
"You got sleepy." Diablo's voice was heard as some sounds of crunching leaves were heard under his taloned feet.
"We were talking then you started to drift off, so I got you to bed."
Aurora chewed her lip as she tried to remember and rubbed her forehead yet she couldn't recall.
Sitting up in her sleeping bag, she saw the other Disciples packing up and getting everything into the Vans and she quickly got up so she could help.
She climbed out of her sleeping bag and started to roll it up.
"We're moving on from here once everyone's ready." Diablo explained "We will need to stock up our food supply as well as get gas for the vans."
"There's bound to be some Gas stations on the road." Samson said "Lamia and myself can fuel up the vans and the bike and pay at the pumps."
"We do look more human under our disguises and we don't have wings or horns."
"Or tails." Ravage added.
Samson raised an eyebrow and held up his long panther tail.
"Well I do have a tail but I could hide it under a long coat."
"How long will we need to travel before our next stop Diablo?" Seth asked.
Diablo looked at a couple of papers he had swiped from their latest victims.
"Well, according to these notes, as I mentioned before, where we're heading is towards some homes of the Neo Nazi's we're targeting." Diablo said "It's gonna be at least four hours travel."
"Four hours?" Ravage asked.
"We're seriously going to need gas above all else." Samson said "First place we see, we'll stock up on gas and carry on to the homes."
"It'll be a welcome relief to get somewhere safe to and dry to sleep!" Chastity said.
"Not to mention a proper shower." Seth said.
"Ditto!" Ravage said "That's the only thing I miss about being human sometimes, not having an actual roof over our heads half the time."
"We'll get it before long." Diablo said "But the quicker we get on the road, the quicker we'll get there."
"Got it boss!" Ravage said with a salute.
Aurora nodded and began to pick up more pieces of the camp and take them to the vans.
"Looking forward to a good ride on the motorbike again." Regan smirked at the hybrid.
"Likewise." Pandora winked.
A Few hours earlier...
Jack and Dahlia sniffed the air as they walked around the motel, trying to see if they could smell anything related to Diablo, or Pandora.
They prowled the areas where the rooms were, and where the Disciples had attacked.
Jack narrowed his eyes.
"I've got a scent Dahlia." he said "Not the raven, but I can smell Pandora."
"You can?" Dahlia asked and she too sniffed the air.
"They were here alright even though it's been over forty-eight hours the smell is still strong." Jack said "And the scent leads to the front of the motel, and to the East!"
"The East?" Dahlia asked.
Jack nodded.
"I remember Pandora's smell, as well as Diablo's very clearly, ever since he betrayed us that day!" he said then gestured with his head to report back to Tyroth who still hid with Devina behind the bush.
Dahlia looked over her shoulder to make sure no-one was watching and they hurried back to the bush.
"Boss!" Jack said.
"Well?" Tyroth asked from behind the bush.
"We got a scent." Jack said "It's Pandora's for sure, and it's headed East!"
"Great job you two!" Tyroth said "Come on, back to the Ninjet."
They started to walk back to the ninjet, making sure no-one was following them or watching them.
"We better get on the scent as quick as we can." Tyroth said "Then maybe find our second bread crumb!"
"I'm starting to wonder if it would be easier if I fly outside the Ninjet?" Devina asked "Give my vision and stronger sense of smell, I might be able to track what the wolves picked up?"
"If you think it helps?" Tyroth asked.
Devina nodded.
"Then I can guide you!" she said.
"Genius!" Tyroth said with a smile "Can't tell you how grateful I am Devina."
"I hope it works too." Dahlia said "All the times I've seen parents go through grief over loosing their children, seeing Raph and Mona so upset, it breaks my heart."
"We'll find her, and bring her home!" Jack said looking at the wolf nurse "That's our promise to her family."
Present
Meanwhile on a long quiet road heading towards Missori, a police car was sitting alone in the darkness.
Inside, two police officers were watching out the front, watching for any speeding traffic, yet given it was the early hours of the morning, there had barely been any traffic.
"Man Steve, I'm bored!" the first officer said.
"Me too Stan." the second one said "And we still got another two hours before the shift ends."
"I'm on my fifth cup of coffee and my third doughnut!" Stan said "Jeez, I'm not gonna get any sleep today after this!"
"Hang in there Stan." Steve said "Who knows, we might pick up a last minute job?"
"Anything to make time go faster!" Stan agreed.
As Steve said that, the sound of engines was heard and both officers sat up.
"Speak of the devil." Stan said then picked up the speed gun.
"Sounds like more than one vehicle." Steve said as he looked to the road and saw some lights appearing on the horizon against the sky which was slowly lighting up.
The two officers watched then before long, they saw two vans appear followed by a motorbike.
As they zipped past, the speed gun picked up the speed being slightly over the limit, but what really caught their attention was the two individuals on the motorbike.
"Hey! Did you see that?" Steven said as he saw the motorbike and the two vans speed past.
"I did yeah!" Stan said "All over the speed limit!"
"Not only that!" Steve said "But I think those individuals on the motorbike looked strange.
As he spoke he started the engine of the police car.
"Buckle up mate!" he said as he pulled on his seat belt and started to drive onto the road to try and catch the vehicles.
At the same time, Rex who was driving the first vehicle saw the Police car start to chase them in the side mirror and Seth who was in the front seat also saw them.
"Damn!" he said "Those traffic cops have spotted us!"
"We're over the speed limit!" Seth growled.
"What do we do?" Rex asked "We can't out-run them!"
Seth picked up his waklie talkie and radioed Diablo who was in the other vehicle with Samson driving.
"Boss! We got a situation!"
Diablo glowered.
"Roger that!" he said as he looked at the side mirror wondering what he could do.
"Boss!" Samson warned "If you get out there, you risk being seen, the sun's rising!"
"It's either that or we all get caught." Diablo said narrowing his eyes as he watched the police car then he saw Aurora and Regan ride up next to him on the motorbike.
"Girls!" he said with concern.
Aurora glowered.
"Keep driving! And tell Rex to keep going! I got an idea."
"What?" Diablo asked.
"Trust me!" Aurora said "I'll head them off!"
Diablo frowned but he nodded.
"Very well." he said "But be careful!"
Aurora nodded then slowed down so she was behind the van again.
"What's she planning?" Samson asked.
"I don't know." Diablo said "But I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt."
Samson chewed his lip as he looked at his side mirror and saw Aurora and Regan in front of the traffic car.
"Please be careful." he muttered as he placed his foot down on the gas to make the van go faster.
Meanwhile, Aurora watched the vans drive ahead then looked over her shoulder at the police car.
Regan meanwhile held on tight.
"What's your plan Aurora?" she asked in a worried voice.
"You'll see!" Aurora said "Just trust me here!"
"Okay." Regan said holding Pandora tighter around the waist.
Aurora then turned the motorbike so she was facing the police car then started to drive int the opposite direction towards it!
As she did that, the police were alarmed and quickly swerved to the side!
"What in the name of Uncle Sam?" Stan shouted.
Steve looked out the window as Aurora and Regan drove past, and his eyes widened as he saw briefly the mutant forms of the hybrid lizard and vampire bat.
"Whoa man!" he cried.
"What?" Stan shouted then also looked to see Aurora and Regan speed past then Aurora did a full doughnut circle and took off again!
"Something tells me those individuals are in costume or they're not human at all!" Steve shouted as he saw Aurora speed off ahead.
"You saying those are humanoid animals or something?" Stan asked.
"I don't know!" Steven replied as he put the car back in gear and started to chase after the motorbike.
"Well, we both know the rumours of a black Raven attacking people?" Stan suggested "What if it's him, or those so-called Disciples that follow him?"
Steven narrowed his eyes.
"You might be right there Stan!" he said then pressed his foot on the gas "Lets go!"
As Aurora drove the motorbike ahead, Regan looked behind her.
"Good stunts there!" she praised "Hopefully that'll put some distance between us and them!"
Aurora bit her lip as she looked at her side mirrors on the bike then heard the sirens of the police car again.
"Think again Batgirl." she said "I think you best sit this one out!"
"What?" Regan asked in surprise.
"Trust me!" Aurora said "Jump off and fly on ahead to the others! I'll deal with these jokers!"
Regan was hesitant but she nodded.
"Okay." she said "I hope you know what you're doing!"
"Trust me!" Aurora said then watched as Regan opened her wings and took off ahead.
At the same time, the police car caught up to the hybrid and she heard one of the officers shout through a megaphone.
"Pull over! Pull over!"
Aurora frowned.
"Pull over?" she asked "You gotta be joking!" she gripped hard with her thighs and twisted the accelerator the handlebar and picked up more speed and kept going.
"Pull over! Pull over!"
Aurora looked around trying to see if there was anything she could use to her advantage, and she soon saw what looked like a path off the side of the road, as the sky got lighter, it got clearer and she soon saw it was a higher bit of land!
Quickly she veered off the road and onto it, and she burnt more rubber as she road up it.
The two police officers were shocked as they watched.
"What is this chick's game?" Stan asked as he observed, but then he saw Aurora do a wheelie on the higher ground then spin the bike before turning to them!
Steve's eyes widened but before he could brake the car or even speed off, Aurora jumped the bike off the higher ground and she drove it on top of the police car!
"Watch out!" Stan shouted as he ducked and he felt the bike hit the roof!
Steve at the same time tried to swerve but as he did, the car spun out of control then it slammed into the side of the road!
As that happened, Aurora landed on the road and spun the bike to watch the car crash!
As she did, she felt worried wondering if what she had done had hurt the individuals inside.
She drove up and went to have a look, she saw through the broken windscreen the officers looking rather dazed and the driver had a cut on his forehead.
The front of the car was caved in a bit from where it had hit the raised ground on the side of the road, but what relieved the hybrid was that the officers were alive.
"Sorry guys." she said "But I couldn't risk you finding us."
"Uggghhh..." the officer in the drivers seat groaned "Steve?"
Aurora seeing him wake up quickly turned away and started to drive up the road to find the Disciples.
As she did, Steve opened his eyes and looked over at Stan.
"Stan? you okay mate?"
"I...I think so..." Steve said "What the heck happened?"
Meanwhile Regan had flown on ahead and managed to catch up with the vans where she saw they had slowed down and she managed to flag them down.
"Regan?" Rex called out looking out the window and he turned the van to the side and slowed down.
"Rex." Regan said as she landed next to the van "Aurora told me to fly on ahead, she told me to let her handle the police!"
"Regan!"
The vampire bat soon heard Diablo's voice and she looked over to see the Raven leaning out of the window of the other van as he pulled up behind Rex's.
"Where's Aurora?" Diablo demanded as he got out of the van and walked over to the vampire bat.
Regan pointed back down the road.
"She told me to fly on ahead." she said "She told me to trust her."
Diablo frowned but he looked down the road just to hear the sounds of an engine and Aurora appeared.
"Aurora!" he cried "What happened back there?"
Aurora drove up and smirked.
"Let's just say those guys aren't going to be following us for a bit!"
"What happened?" Rex demanded as he got out of the van and Samson did the same.
"What happened out there!?" voices from the vans soon collaborated as the back doors opened and the other Disciples appeared.
"What was the big hullabaloo?" Lilith asked as she climbed out with Seth and Lamia and Chastity and Ravage got out the other van.
"Apparently some traffic cops stopped us." Diablo said "But it seems Aurora here was able to head them off."
The Diciples turned to Aurora.
"She what?" Ravage asked.
"Holy Moses!" Seth exclaimed.
"What did you do?" Lilith demanded.
Aurora looked back at where she had left the police van.
"Not much." she said "But lets just say they won't be able to follow us for a bit, but we best not hang about, back up might be called!"
"You didn't hurt them did you?" Lilith asked in a serious voice "They weren't sinners! They're just innocent men doing their jobs!"
"I didn't!" Aurora insisted "I merely made them run into the side of the road, they're only a little bruised!"
Lilith narrowed her eyes.
"They'll live!" Aurora said.
Diablo nodded.
"That's good enough that they'll live." he said then looked to the others "Get back in the vans! We need to keep going before anything else happens! And we still need to find fuel for the vans!"
The Disciples agreed and instantly got back into the vans yet Lilith glared at Aurora showing her disapproval for how she had handled the officers in stopping them from following them..
Aurora looked away from her and started the bike ready to follow the vans to their next destination.
Regan climbed onto the back behind her.
"You okay?" she asked "Those Police officers will be alright won't they?"
Aurora nodded.
"They will be, I checked on them before I drove off." she started the engine and took off after the vans as they continued on their journey.
"That's a relief." Regan said then bit her lip, wondering if Lilith was going to talk to Aurora about what had happened when they next stopped.
Jack and Dahlia have picked up Pandora's scent and are ready to head to where she and the Disciples are heading.
Meanwhile Pandora/Aurora has managed to head off a couple of police officers that were chasing her and the Disciples, yet Lilith wasn't too happy about how she did it.
