Before the next episode could start, Ash and Tai suddenly felt a strange sensation wash over them. A soft glow surrounded them, and in an instant, their clothes changed.
Tai blinked, looking down at himself. He was now wearing blue pajamas with tiny Koromon patterns all over them. "Uh… what the heck?"
Ash looked at himself, equally confused. His usual jacket and jeans were gone, replaced with Pikachu-themed yellow pajamas. "Wha—why am I in pajamas?! Where did my hat go?!"
Tai scratched his head. "Okay… so either this place is haunted, or this is some weird sleepover thing."
Ash sighed, adjusting his sleeves. "Man, I feel so unprepared. I don't even have a sleeping bag."
Before they could question things further, the screen flickered on, and the next episode began.
Episode 3: The Shining Beacon, Part 2
The episode picked up with Ruby and Jaune still lost but eventually making their way to the training arena.
Ash nodded. "See? Told you they'd figure it out."
Tai smirked. "Yeah, after wandering around like total noobs."
As Ruby tried to make amends with Weiss, Ash frowned. "Man, Weiss is still giving her a hard time. Cut her some slack, will ya?"
Tai chuckled. "She's really dedicated to being the ice queen, huh?"
Ash pouted slightly. "I feel bad for Ruby. She's just trying to be nice."
The boys continued watching as Ozpin gave his speech to the students, his words carrying a cryptic and serious tone. Yang and Ruby exchanged concerned glances.
Tai leaned back. "Okay, this guy definitely knows more than he's letting on."
Ash nodded. "Yeah, I'm getting serious 'Professor Oak keeping legendary secrets' vibes."
The scene shifted to Yang dragging Ruby over to try and talk to Blake. Blake initially brushed Ruby off, but Ruby—being Ruby—somehow managed to find a connection with her.
Tai grinned. "Looks like your girl's warming up to my girl."
Ash raised an eyebrow. "Pfft, more like Ruby's just good at making friends. Blake's still acting like she doesn't want to be there."
"Give it time," Tai shrugged. "She's clearly the cool, brooding type."
The boys watched as Yang and Weiss got into an argument.
Tai smirked. "Looks like our girls can't get along."
Ash groaned. "Ugh, great. First Ruby and Weiss, now Yang and Weiss."
Tai playfully elbowed Ash. "I mean, are you really surprised? Your girl's all fire, and mine's all ice. Classic matchup."
Ash huffed, crossing his arms. "Yeah, yeah, just great."
Then, as the episode neared its end, the moment came—Blake, clearly done with all the arguing, simply blew out the candles, shutting the conversation down completely.
Tai laughed. "Yup, that's her way of saying 'I don't have time for this.'"
Ash snickered, shaking his head. "She just put everyone to sleep with one move."
Tai grinned, then suddenly had an idea. With a mischievous smirk, he turned to Ash. "Hey, Ash… you know, Yang's been purring at other boys in this episode."
Ash froze. "Huh? What are you talking about?"
Tai leaned closer. "I mean, she was all friendly with some other guys earlier. You sure she's not looking at someone else?"
Ash narrowed his eyes. "Oh, you're asking for it now."
Before Tai could react, Ash grabbed a nearby pillow—one that looked eerily like the one Ruby had used earlier—and hurled it straight at Tai's face.
POOF!
Tai fell back, momentarily stunned, before bursting into laughter. "Oh, now it's on!"
He grabbed his own pillow and launched it back at Ash.
For a few minutes, the episode became background noise as the two teens engaged in an all-out pillow war, dodging, laughing, and tossing pillows back and forth. Eventually, they both collapsed on the couch, catching their breath just as the episode came to a close.
As Blake's candle went out and the screen faded to black, Tai wiped a tear from his eye. "Okay… that was fun."
Ash grinned. "Yeah, haven't had a good pillow fight in a while."
The voice returned. "Prepare yourselves… the next episode will begin shortly."
Tai stretched, yawning slightly. "Man, this is starting to feel like a real sleepover."
Ash nodded, adjusting his pillow behind his head. "Yeah… but I'm not complaining."
