"And here we see a resting horde of lascrawlers, basking in the sun's ambient glow and sunning themselves with their dual pairs of wings stretched out to the sun. To an unassuming eye, these still statues might resemble large flowers, petals raised in worship towards the sun's golden rays. But they are far from such gentle flora, and their behaviour is for a much more sinister purpose."
The field is full practically to the brim with the foul xenos' presence. Not even the grass is visible beneath a still, statuesque mass of wings and lasgun tips, pointing skyward towards the sun.
"Using their outspread wings- reasonably heavy in reflective elements- they redirect the sun's rays to the integrated lasgun's humble battery, while also increasing their surface area; dramatically improving the battery's speed of regeneration and also how quickly they can return to the field of battle. Even now, in their times of rest, the deceptively humble lascrawler has its mind set on destruction and destruction alone."
The wings of one twitch, almost experimentally, before vibrating up and down at a rapid clip, raising the lascrawler gently into the sky. Then, it's off. Its narrow, aerodynamic shape granting it great linear speed.
"Having recouped its lost reserves, the first of the lascrawler horde takes flight. Its four wings, beating with that repulsive insectoid hum as it migrates from one peaceful field, to another soon-to-be filled with blood. Not long after, more begin to follow, and then shortly after them, the entire plain is swept clean as if they had never even arrived in the first place."
The horde is gone, leaving not even trampled grass to show for their arrival. Their long and thin legs too precise to leave much of any marks.
"Powerful, if terrifying, creatures indeed."
