Flood Combat Form Analysis: Abhuman Infections
Our analysis of the foul xenos as always continues, but unlike most analysis's the Flood require too many for a reasonable mind to comprehend. But a Inquisitors duty is never done and always willing and there will never be any exception. As time continues and the Flood has spread we have spotted more favored patterns of bio weapons and transformed forms and have committed to document as many as possible.
As the Flood has spread to new Imperial world, new combat form have been spotted in areas where no pure forms have yet to be made. More often than not these peculiar combat forms are usually a sign of a early combat infection, where the world in question can not be taken by subterfuge. The most common of combat forms are well understood being the 'speaking dead' capable of talking, using the former humans weapons and having enhanced strength close of that of a Ogryn along side its strong whip like tendrils.
It should be noted as well that the Flood can be...picky for lack of better terms. Preferring to infect and transform people of preserved crueler natures, criminals, soldiers it deems 'monsters', fanatics and so many more. This is believed to be a purely social aspect of the Flood as it has shown that it can transform people whom the Flood have deemed 'morally good' in the past out of need and necessity, it maybe a taboo to do so. But to research the 'culture' of the Flood is not my duty, but that of the 'ordo of the Gravis Custodes'. But again it should be mentioned as a form of understanding that the Flood does not turn living humans into combat forms lightly. A... strange and honorable quality for such a Xenos that could do so much worse to mankind.
Anyways, the more interesting combat forms and quote-on-quote 'demi-pure forms' that some of the Guard have began to call these intermediate forms usually come from the Imperiums Abhuman populations. Although usually these Abhumans are turned into straight-up combat forms, a solid number of spotting have shined light to the fact that the Flood will start to turn its basic combat forms into something more horrifying if its resources are low and more advanced forms are needed.
First is the common Ratling based transformed combat form, the screechier. These are the most common of the seen transformed combat forms, second only to the carrier. Ratlings almost never stay in their base combat form for long as their short, easy to hide stature and improved eyesight makes them for better scouts and there transformation shows. The Flood give the Screechier to bone blades on their arms to dig through walls and to rip combatant apart if needed, their eyesight from autopsies show that their eyes have been further improved beyond Ratling peaks. And finally given a what we have dubbed a 'spore breeder' in their lungs that release clouds of thick, dark spores into the are that can mask the Screechiers escape or cover other Flood. Priamily used as a scout, sabator, or a defensive alarm system. These Screechiers do as their namesay in a ambush or fight, be it to alert the rest of the Flood hordes or as a imtimation tactic, or perhaps both is still debated. Thankfully this demi-pure from is easy to kill with small bursts of lasfire able to put them down easily.
Second is the Demi-Pure form based of a Ogryn and is considered to be semi-common as it is believed to require other sources of biomass to make one, the Boneman. A Boneman is considered to be a alternative to a Flood Tank Form when one is not available. Believed to be made by several combat forms sacrificing their biomass to a infected Ogryn, this combat form becomes plated in thick bone-like armor that protects it from small arms fire and a number of heavy weapons. Still able to use non-flood based weapons it is known that these Bonemen will walk into Guardsmen firing lines with Rippers and grenade gauntlets to destroy any that stand in its way. Bolters, Plasma and Krak weapons are recommended when dealing with a Boneman, do not engage in melee with them! A standard Ogryn combat form have been recorded killing Astates with ease in melee and Bonemens armor is strong enough that power weapons are needed, all you will do is give the enemy biomass.
The third known Demi-pure form known is called the Stalker and is questioned if is a pureform or a demi form, as it is believed to made by taking a infected Scalie, however reports on if that is the case are unclear if that is the case. Unlike most Flood Forms that prefer to work in groups, a stalker is a solitary hunter that hunts biomass down in the unknown parts of a underhive in a hive city. Known to drag back victims to fledglingFlood hives, these Stalkers are considered to be a early sign of a planetary infection. Although stronger and better armed than most Forms, be it pure or otherwise, it is rare to see one fight openly as it prefers to ambush its pray in fights it knows it can win and return to hiding quickly. It is believed that these forms are expensive for the flood to make and so would rather keep these Stalkers alive. As for its biological make-up it leads to the question of if it is a pure form or not. On all fours like an animal, whipping tentacles on its back, sharp claws, night and thermal vision. There are many things that this beast has that many other forms are recorded not often having. The debate comes from our few recorded autopsies on the the beast that show that at although a signification amount of biomass has came initially of Scalies in the first few we have found, newer Stalkers so signs of different biomass being used. The debate still lingers so I won't bore you with the details that the Adept Biologo have gotten into. But as of the current time, the Stalker is classed as a Demi-pure.
There are a number of unconfirmed cases of Mutant flood infected too, but finding further information has been difficult.
As of now though there is one suspected form that has not been sighted but is believed to exist. A believed infected Navigator a number of psykers have started to call the, 'Warp Eater' the Warp Eater although a rumor is believed to be the cause for the calming of the Warp in Infected Flood Space, this is however unconfirmed as reports also speak of a greater Flood form that can calm the Warp. A so-called 'Lord of Tides', Whatever power is in Flood Space, may the Emperor protect us from its seditious machinations!
We are also thankful that so far we have had no confirmed cases of other reconised Abhuman races being infected. So we do not need to see the horror of what a Flood infection would do to the likes of a Squat conclave or Felinid colony, we are also thankful that no know cases have yet happend of a Custodies being infected. As such a possible tragidy has already drew up the possible rule ofextermiatis upon the world that it happens on, but this Inquistior worry's that this maybe inevitable.
It should be noted that my last report that the Flood are spreading quicker than we can contain has been ignored again by the higher ranks. Please I beg all that read this to not to undersetimate this threat, too many already do thanks to their puppets the 'children of the Mantle'.
May the God-Emperor protect us.
