Αγαπητή μου Νταϊάνα. The world of man is flawed. I know this, the Gods know this. They put more focus on their wants and their desires than what they have. They thrive for more. They thrive for violence. They thrive for greed. They thrive for lust. But then again, our gods are flawed as well. Diana, let me tell you the tale of how man and the gods almost ended everything.

It began over three thousand years ago, Prometheus stole fire from the Heavens to help the world of man to progress further, to adapt to the bitter cold. Hence why he was bestowed the title of the God of fire.

However, the king of Gods, Zeus did not appreciate Prometheus' larceny. He saw his actions as transgressions against him. He had the real god of fire, Hephaestus create what many legends say was the first woman. A woman gifted with cleverness, wit and curiosity. Her name was Pandora. She was created as a gift to Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus, a representative for mankind.

Additionally, Zeus decided to create an artefact, an artefact that housed sorrow, disease, vice, violence, madness, ageing and death. It was a box. A box he gifted to Pandora herself. He had warned her to never open the box, no matter what comes.

However, what Zeus did not anticipate was how easy it was to manipulate Pandora. The sources vary on why Pandora was tempted by the box. It could be curiosity that caused her to open it, but others say that she foresaw a want within that box. A desire she could only dream of.

However, when she opened the box, it released all the negative energy that resided within and engulfed mankind in sorrow and anguish. Something still present in those mortals even today. Thus, would have concluded the story of what many would call Pandora's Box.

However, that is not where the story ends. For there is another story. A story not told to mortals. It wasn't just vice and old age Zeus put in that box, he also encased another layer. A compartment that can only be unlocked with what are known as The Four Keys to End Times. As the name of the keys suggests, it will release a power that will destroy man.

It was a miracle that Pandora never opened it. However, one sought the power. Six hundred years after she first looked inside.

Seeing man's destructive nature, the god of destruction, Perses sought the box to cleanse man in order to appease Zeus and give him a chair on Mount Olympus.

Zeus had his disciples hide the keys so Perses would not find and unlock the box. He destroyed most of Greece in his search slaughtered his disciples disregarding the innocent men, women and children's lives that got in his way.

He had claimed all the keys, now was to find the box. The box was hidden in Mount Olympus so no mortal would ever get their hands on it. However, a God was another story.

Knowing that Perses was relentless, Zeus forged an army to defend Mount Olympus from his attack. They were Hades, god of the underworld; Ares, god of war; Hera, goddess of women; And Prometheus himself after he had faced his punishment of being bound in chains and having his immortal liver devoured by an eagle every day.

Zeus also sought the help of his demigod, son, Perseus and his nine children to defend Olympus from Perses' wrath.

The god of destruction had armies of soldiers both undead and living as a means to make the battle more interesting. And thus, began the Battle of the Gods.

For forty days and forty nights, the armies fought tirelessly and effortlessly against each other. Lives were unfortunately lost during that battle. The gods lived, but Perseus' children were unfortunately lost during the battle, leaving Perseus angry and grief stricken.

Despite all their efforts, Perses was able to claim the box from Olympus. However, what no one, not even Hera expected, was Zeus had a failsafe. The box could only be opened by a mortal.

In the end, Perses' attack on Olympus was for nothing. Perseus' kin were taken so soon from life all for nothing.

In anger towards his father and grief of his children, Perseus took up his sword and stabbed Perses, impaling him to the ground below their feet.

In order to prevent anymore destruction from Perses, Zeus stripped him of his immortality and power and had him banished into the underworld by Hades himself.

However, one problem remained, the box was still there. Knowing that the box wasn't safe from Mount Olympus, Zeus decided that the box must be hidden. So, as punishment to his resentment towards him, Zeus had Perseus perform the task along with a few of his own disciples.

And so, four of Perseus' disciples traveled the world separately all on their lonesomes so no one will know where they had been to hide those keys. Once the four disciples returned to Greece, they said nothing to anyone. Not to the gods, not to their friends, their families or their enemies.

Once they returned to their separate huts, they took their own lives so the secret of the location of the keys could be kept secret.

Perseus on the other hand, did not sought to hide the box, he sought to destroy himself. Three years into his exile, he discovered that there was a way to destroy the box. In order for the box to be destroyed, a mortal is to dispose of it into the fire Prometheus stole.

And so, four fourteen years, Perseus sought to find a mortal soul to destroy the box. However, he did not know how easily corrupted the hearts of men were. Many souls he had to try and destroy the box were lost in their greeds and desires and tried to open it.

Ten thousand lives Perseus had taken once he saw how dark their hearts truly were. So, Perseus hid himself, away from the world, keeping himself isolated from all forms of mortal contact.

No one knows where Perseus had disappeared with the box. But some say, he is somewhere on Man's world, guarding the box, waiting for someone to perhaps take the box or praying to Hera that someone will come to destroy the box.

Closing the book of Greek tales, Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira had finished relaying the tale of Pandora's Box to her young daughter, Princess Diana, whom was being tucked into bed.

"So, you understand the story I have told you, dear daughter?" The Queen asked.

"The world of men will not be able to handle the temptations of the box." Diana replied.

The Queen smiled. "Somewhat correct. But, it is also a warning to those who seek their dream desires. Desires can lead to unforeseen consequences that cause pain onto the innocent."

"Could I be affected by the box?" Diana asked.

"I pray to Hera you will not." Hippolyta replied.

"Will the box ever be found?" Diana asked.

"I also pray to Hera that box remains hidden." Hippolyta replied. "I fear not only the box will bring the destruction of man, but will bring the destruction of our sisters."

"What will ever happen if a mortal tries to open the box?" She asked.

Hippolyta took her time to think of a response. She looked out towards the balcony and looked at the full moon that shined against their peaceful paradise. She turned to her daughter and exhaled. "Then their hearts better be in the right place."
