Ordo Hereticus/Xeno Joint Analysis: Flood/Children of the Mantle foreign relations and allies, part 1

This document is for high ranking officials, Imperial officers, Astartes and members of our most holy Inquisition. Anyone found with this document whom is unauthorized will be executed.

The Flood have rapidly become one of the major xenos powers in the galaxy and are perhaps our greatest ally against the forces of Chaos with them and their followers being some of the first in the fight where ever such heretics show themselves. However they are also a threat to our greater Imperium with their ideals of Justice and and desire for 'decent humanitarian qualities'. Many people in the Imperium (primarily those of the lower classes) flock to either the Children or the Flood out of a desire to have a better life, even if that means becoming a traitor in the process.

But the Flood and the Children do not look at humanity alone, they look at other races as either potential allies or threats depending on whom and what said races goals and beliefs are. This document is to assist our ranks in understanding what the foul Xenos or even groups in our Imperium think of the Flood and their Children.

Study1: Flood/Children and the Imperium

The Imperium as a whole is heavily divided on what to think of the Flood and the Children as they are as often then not willing to assist Humanity as they are to try and conquer our worlds. They are also willing to allow observers and diplomats onto their worlds to show the quality of life they give to our fellow man to any world they gain, as one can guess although not following our God-Emperors grand design have made great achievements.

And as such divided opinions stew and fester argument and conflict has broken out in our many branches, with some words said more worrying than others.

Sub-study 1A): The Adeptus Mechanicus

Excerpt from captured documents

: "Any form we take should be to heal the Motive Force! Repent against the fools of Mars whom have forgotten their duties! The Mantle shall be our guide!"- Unknown heretech, Forge world Accatran

The Mechanicus have a divided belief dependent on which faction of the Children one is asking about or if it is the Flood itself. although appearing to be steadfast in their loyalty to Holy Terra and Mars, there has been a noted increase of 'Neo-progressives'. Those whom believe that the Flood are a physical manifestation of the Motive Force. This as one can imagine has caused divides between a number of Mechanicus forge worlds and Mars, worst still is the introduction of 'echos' from theEnlightened that has in many eyes validated Precursor history.

However their beliefs in what tech is human varies from faction-to-faction, their belief that technology from the Ancient First for example is purely human made has given the Imperium a massive tech boom in recent years as a number of technology have either been captured and replicated or traded from the First, it is not uncommon to see First based equipment amongst our forces. Such as the Warthog recon FAV or the Pelican heavy transport gunship.

But it again depends on which faction one speaks of as the Covenant sub-faction's tech is despised by a number of Mechanicus. Such as the case of a number of high ranking adepts once tried to ban Imperial plasma weapons because they found a number of components that closely matched the Covenants Type-25 plasma rifle. As you can imagine the politics inside the Mechanicus has become tenuous.

The Mechanicus is to be closely watched going forward as many in the organization have Mantle sympathies.

Sub-study 1B: The Adeptus Astartes

Excerpt captured on battlefield: "For all mankind! For the Mantle!"-

Children Traitor Astartes, Rank and Chapter: Battle-Brother of the Ghosts of Reach, formally known as the Falcon Hunters.

The Astartes have a odd relation with the Flood and the Children, as they are either extremely hostile to the two or are the opposite and are exceeding friendly. This behavior primarily varies from chapter-to-chapter and primarily is dependent on how they view the Imperial truth or Cult, if the Chapter follows the Cult like the Black Templar's then a fight is guaranteed. However if the Astartes follow the beliefs of the Imperial truth than they are likely to at least tolerate the Children and the Flood.

Many of these more friendly Astartes chapters have a high level of respect for a number of the Children's forces, the most famous being the ODST groups that are said to be recreation of the first orbital drop forces. And have often assisted or have been assisted the Flood or children on worlds that are attack by xenos or Chaos forces. However there is a massive issue when they have assisted the Flood, that of the 'logic plague'. Exposure to the Flood directly or indirectly has made a number of Astartes Chapters join the Children. These traitors are often remove their Progenoid Gland (Gene seed organ) and replace it with something called a Geas implant. This Geas implant as far as we can tell acts as a hyper refined Progenoid Gland, something we once thought impossible. They are then are often (there are more advanced designs given to those working with the Forerunners, as well as more advance biological modification) given Mjolnir armor designed for Astartes as well as weapons, and commence to assist the Flood and/or Children.

Many loyalist Astartes often refuse to fight the Flood for this reason, often fearing the possibility of being infected. It has been noted that chapters like the Black Templar's often prepare exterminatus level weapons when ever they fight Children forces, and have deployed and used them when Flood have been detected.

Many Astartes either respect the Flood, or fear it. There is no in-between.

Sub-study 1C: Adepta Sororitas

Except recorded from preacher: Humanity shall inherit the Stars! Thus is commanded by the God-Emperor and the will of the Universe! Chaos has tried to sabotage and enslave humanity and they have failed! Mankind shall inherit the Mantle and guide the ungrateful into enlightenment! So say we all!-

holy cardinal, Lucius Greyheart the IV of the Church of Furious Conviction.

The Sororita is perhaps one of the more interesting of relations with the Flood and their Children, as it could be best described as a powder keg about to blow. Although in a state often described as 'cold war' with the Flood and their allies the Sororitas is usually found on their worlds acting as missionaries and as guardians to the holy shines of the God-Emperor, this has allowed us to gain a greater understanding of what Flood controlled populations are like. This arrangement although allowed to happen doesn't always work well, as friction can and has occurred, as although the Flood allow the Sororitas to protect their churches and preach the good word, they do not allow punishment of those whom have strayed from their belief of the Emperor. This as you can imagine has caused a few wars.

But their relationship is in a ways a two way street, as many of these missionaries have brought with them much of the newer hybrid belief of mantle and God-Emperor worship that has caused divides of in the Imperium.

However the Sororitas is perhaps one the most effective fighting for against the Flood themselves, being better equipped with power armor with air filters and often armed with incendiary weapons makes them effective fighters against purely Flood units and are more often than not the last Imperial force on planet if a world is invaded by the Flood and such units are stationed there.

The Sororitas has become extremely valuable in the fight and study of the Flood, treat them well.

Sub-study 1D: Primarch Guilliman

"Father is everything this...being says true? If so then why did you hide our history?"-

Roboute Guilliman, recorded in private quarters

Our grand leader has saw fit to try diplomacy with the Flood after it revealed itself to the wider galaxy, wishing to use the newly formed Star Roads to gain access to the Dark Imperium beyond the Great Rift. The Flood had allowed this for legal protections for those worshiping the Mantle and to not cause a greater war between the Imperium and themselves, with the Flood and Children agreeing that the Galaxy has bigger worrys such as the Tyranids and Chaos.

As far as our analysis's have found, Roboute Guilliman has found...difficulties for the treaty, primarily in those of the Ynnari. As far as we can tell the Ynnari appear to be worried that their alliance with the Imperium is at risk with there being a alternative to their Webways, even with Yvraine telling them not to worry and to focus on dealing with She Who Thirsts.

His has also come into conflict recently with a number of the Navigator Houses. The Houses are worried as Guilliman has ordered and started to build ships equipped with Slipspace drives instead of our more traditional Warp engines, and given Slipspace requires a alternate system to navigate the black depths of it the Navigators worry that they will become...obsolete. This has caused issues with logistics as a number of Navigators refuse to work causing ship building as well as other important industries to slow down. The irony is that Guilliman is now pushing harder to build these slipsace craft to prevent this situation from occurring again.

It has become as of late, a time of great change in the Imperium. In the next log we will talk indepth of the relations the Flood has with the more major Xenos powers.
