Ordo Hereticus Analysis: Golden Age of Man, part 1- Age of the First

This document has been made to assist our agents understand the new rising threats in the Imperium, one that is changing the very core of our grand Imperium. I speak of cause about the Flood introduced Precursor History.

This section of history hold perhaps the most import of Flood historical documentation as it pertains to their observation and documentation of mankind's development during our early years. And with little evidence to counter the Floods information, we can at least discern that this history is at least likely. And although the Imperial palace has some documents and artifacts from some of this time, the Custodes either refuse to give too much information of have corroborated some of the Flood stories. Such as the tale of the first human satellite 'Sputnik' and the ensuing 'Space Race'.

As such Precursor history when dealing with Humanities past has became almost sacred to many in the Imperium. So much so that the Cult Imperialis has canonized many hero's from many of the legend's that have been told, such as Admiral Cole and both Miranda and Jacob Keyes.

The impact of the history and stories from Humanities Golden Age has brought as much pride as it has unrest as many wish to reclaim such glories achieved in the micro ages of the Golden Age. And with the Paths and the Flood, many have attempted to do so, be it for or against the Imperium. So let us begin our analysis from where it becomes relevant.

Section 1-Our Cradle

To begin we won't go into truly ancient Terra which is believed to be the era of our Holy Emperors birth but instead we begin in the micro age of the 'age of progression' this era began in the year 1991 just before the year ended. The era started off with the collapse of one of old Terra's 'super powers' and the end of a war between another, the war itself is of little consequence but is important for our ancestors development going forward. As the war died down many resources began to be pushed into other fields not supporting the war that allowed the world and other technologies to develop that otherwise wouldn't. During this era early and successful developments into AI would accrue as well as into space industries, the era has been noted for its extreme rate of development as well as being quite a short era as the era ended in the 2030's after a near third world war was adverted.

During the 2020's tensions would develop between the successor states of the former super powers and the winners of the old war. But before the war could begin the former super powers entered a second collapse called the 'Eastern Collapse' at the end of the 2020's, although not as powerful as they were in their heyday they were still vital to the world which caused issues for the rest of Terra.

Fearing resource and industrial shortages, the old Terran government known as the UN began a mass colonization effort of the Sol system in hope's of gaining more supply. These efforts would begin the second micro age, the age we call the 'Age of Sol'.

The Age of Sol is noted for it developments into terraforming and other stellar industries and technologies, as well as the mass colonization of the Sol system. However this age was far from peaceful as issues began to occur by the 2090's.

As the Colonies developed, sub-groups appeared on these colonies. These groups vied for power and independence away from the Terran government and would begin a war of independence. Even though many of these early colonies, especially that of Mars, were happy to be under Terra's rule.

Many of these people would be killed by these Rebel factions.

Terra would respond with its full might beginning the 'Interplanetary War'. Although Terra would defeat these rebels, it would not go unscathed as many were killed on the early colonies and the area known as the 'Amazon' on Terra itself would become a war zone. The Terran government after this war would reform in the entity known as the 'Unified Earth Government', or the UEG for short. The UEG would begin to push massive amount of resources into attempts to create some form of FTL as worries began to occur of WMD's that could destroy the Sol and humanity in its entirety as the Rebels had attempted to create a arsenal of atomic. Fearing rogue atomic the UEG had kept its during that time, massive armies on alert. This would change as of 2126.

Two scientists known as Wallace Fujikawa and Tobias Fleming Shaw would successfully create the first slip space engine, allowing humanity to expand across the stars. By 2127 the first tests for FTL equipped ships had began and by 2136 the first attempts a colonization and beginning the age known as the 'Domus Diaspora'.

Section 2- Gold tainted by blood

The Domus Diaspora was perhaps the only true golden age that humanity had since entering the wider galaxy. A two hundred year period of pure uninterrupted peace where humanity flourished, technology grew for humanities needs, systems were terraformed and colonized, medical archotech that even many of our most influential do not have access to was common. For a time, the galaxy was a paradise for mankind.

But it was not meant to be. Our own greed saw to that.

by the 2300's the UEG had expanded to colonize over eight hundred systems, from simple mining and agri-world with a few million people, to proto-hiveworlds that housed billions the UEG had grown. But this wasn't without issue as no true FTL communication had yet to develop and Slipspace speeds during this time were slow, making governance difficult for the young empire. To counter this the UEG created smaller organizations that was administer and police the 'outer colonies', this would slowly fail as the organization would become more and more corrupt, pushing many of these world to rebel against the UEG. Thus beginning the 'Insurrection'.

The Insurrection begun on a distant, but prosperous world of 'Far Isle'. modestly populated by our standards it would of been classified as a civilized world with a population of at least a billion people, tensions had been brewing on the planet as the corrupt organization meant administer the world, the CAA had caused open rebellion via a poor response to a on world natural disaster. The CAA hoping quell the rebellion sent in its policing/military force, the CMA to squash the Rebels, they failed.

The CMA, after its failure decided to call for assistance from the UEG itself. Speaking lies and half-truths the CMA told them that the Far Isle's colony had rebelled and was under violent leadership and that said colony was planing to attack other worlds. The UEG fearing the violance spreading sent in its primary fighting force, the UNSC to retake the world.

The UNSC sent in a joint fleet of their own ships and those of the CMA. The UNSC admiral at the time had attempted to talk to the rebelling forces to figure out what actually happened on the colony but was prevented as the CMA begun the fight, cementing the battle to come. The Campaign would last a year, as the fighting continued to get worse, atomics would become involved and destroy the colony. We don't know whom fired the Nuclear weapons, be it the CMA, the UNSC or perhaps the rebels themselves but in the end the campaign would be considered a disaster, on with far reaching consequences.

As news got out on what happened, the UEG and the outer colonies squabbled. The UEG was enraged at the CAA and CMA for their corruption and what it had caused and began to dismantle the organizations. Whilst this was happening a significant number of the outer colonies began to openly arm and rebel against the CAA remnants and UEG leadership, raging against the tragedy and fearing it may happen to them.

Thus beginning the two hundred year civil war known as the Insurrection.

Section 3- War of Human nature

The insurrection although not the bloodiest war in human history was a significant one if true, as it pushed the advancement of many technologies and tactics of early humanity. Before the war began Humanity had used standard auto-guns with carapaces armor and used ships equipped with small magnetic cannons and missiles. By the half way point the UNSC had began to to use the predecessors to power armor, early but advanced las-weapons and functional infantry level magnetic weapons. As well as it navy beginning to equip all but its smallest ships with the respected MAC. The UNSC had fought hard against the Insurrectionist forces but they were stubborn, surviving for over a hundred years of continues warfare. But soon things would change, soon the Insurrection would face it greatest predator.

The SPARTAN's

The SPARTAN program was humanities first successful attempt to make post-human soldiers, created with abilities close to that of a Astates these super humans would be the key to ending Insurrection, these heroes would fight in secret clad in the first field functional power armors and equipped with the best weapons the UNSC could make and field.

The Spartans came into being close to the end of the war, or I should say they ended the war quickly after they came into service. Used as special operations units they hunted the Insurrection leaders down I blistering speed and efficiency. So much so that in five years the Rebellious colonies were at the table talking to the UEG to surrender and rejoin with the rest of Humanity.

The war officially ended in 2502 but the UNSC continued to watch for further rebellion as anti-Terra and anti-Inner colony sentiments were still high. The UNSC during this time also began to build up important technological infrastructure that was deemed of importance. such as the newly developed waypoint system a form of FTL communication and automated cargo vessels to deliver and transport people and supply's from colony-to-colony.

However during the late 2510's and early 2520's, the UNSC and a number of trade companies had started to report a number missing automated ships. When the UNSC would investigate they would find something completely alien, and something that took notice of Humanity.

Humanity and accidentally meet the Covenant, and the Covenant had gained interest in what had found them.

End of Golden age study 1- Age of the First

The age of the First is perhaps the shortest age out of the three primary ages of the Golden Age. But it is also one of the most important as it shows that even though humanity can achieve great things, our own nature can cause many issues. From what the Flood would have us believe this nature is purposeful to try and prevent what happened with the Eldar's own fall but many decry being compared to the xenos, and say human nature is not a pre-programmed thing.

Other then that, the Age of the First's technology is quickly being learnt thanks to captured, traded and given pieces of tech from the paths. Some of these piece of tech yet to come into the Imperiums hands are of extreme interest as well, such as the FTL communication system know as the 'Waypoint' or the advanced Terraforming technologies the Ancient First path is known to use.

The Age of the First is revered by many in the Imperium, with many using the stories as warnings and uplifters depending on the situation. However a number of world have also become... difficult to control as many see the past UEG as a symbol of a better future, primarily that of it democratic practices. And whilst there are world that practice the democratic arts, they are few and many world are ran by the elites of our Imperium. Some of whom are only in power thanks to necessity.

This part of our lost history is that of pure humanity and is sacred thanks to that fact alone. The next study will be on the age of the Covenants, God-Emperor be with you!

AN: Okay originally I was going to do all of the ages in on super Omake, but decided against that.

Other then that, many a Halo fan will notice that certain technology and events were earlier in the timeline, and were sometime longer. This was purposeful as I wanted to allow more advanced UNSC technology to be used in the next omake more and so there is less confusion for what the Ancient First Army will look like when I get to army building. There is also the issue of population numbers, I have up'd them for Warhammer reasons AKA bigger numbers, bigger wars.
