After waiting only 30 minutes after the last bit and after I had written down what I knew in my notebook about SCP-1048 and its creations (both the real and the new), I was spoken to by both Doctor Harper as well as Doctor Carver, him looking at me with seriousness... and when I saw him, I gawked at how he had the highest number on his chest, me immediately stiffening and giving a salute. He was an 05 member!
"At ease, son. I'm not here to be saluted, I'm here to salute you," he said, me being surprised before then calming down. "You showed great bravery and ingenuity with recontainment of one of our slipperiest Keter classes and helped destroy all of its clones. I allow you to have free reign with any Safe-labeled SCPs and up to 10 Euclids of your choice. Only in case of a breach will you assist with a Keter class, until further notice, understood?" Doctor Carver said, me nodding.
"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir. I edited a bit of my data on my own to tell of other abilities I happened to have discovered during the 1048 incident," I said as I handed him the paper that I had edited with my own Addendum.
Addendum 2 (from SCP789XP): During downtime waiting for reclassification from Keter to Safe/(Redacted), I noted that I was able to hear the inner voices of SCPs that haven't shown the ability to communicate in English. I was able to understand SCP-999 as it passed by outside, speaking about how happy it was to have helped calm down 191. And during the big breach at Storage Site (Redacted), I also heard the inner voices of SCP-096, 035, and 939. In order of hearing their voices, this is what I heard them say:
SCP-096: "I'm so scared... I... I just want to die... stop looking at me... I can't control it... please... no more..."
SCP-035: "Hahaha! You think that you can stop me by putting me in glass forever? You'll see my true face one day, but until then, you're only delaying the inevetible... all it takes is one bad day..."
SCP-939: "Ugh... I hate being in a cage. But at least me and my brothers had quite a feast while it lasted! Shame, though... after that first lady I ate, they only tasted worse with each one. Note to self, don't eat the guards when they're wearing rubber."
SCP-999: "I'm so happy that 191 is happy! I don't wanna see people cwy. I wonda if thewe awe any mowe that may need my wuv!"
And during the incident with 1048, one of its clones, (which I have labeled as 1048-D-1 through 7), that 1048-D-5, was made out of a part of SCP 804, a globe that deteriorates any man or manmade material in its vicinity. When it activated, I noted that, when I touched a hammer that was beginning to degrade, it stopped the exact moment my fingers connected to it. Due to this discovery, I (SCP789XP) am not only immune to all of the SCP effects shown so far, but anything I am in physical contact with is ALSO immune to these effects. The only things that this does not apply to are other SCPs themselves. Otherwise, SCP-682 would've for sure become immune to the one human he has shown kinship with in 053 and would have never broken the record for most willing recontainment attempts of 682... can we beat 1 willing 682 recontainment? Subscribe and find out
After reading to the end, Doctor Carver actually chuckled before then having a genuine laugh at the final joke. "I heard of that, but didn't think it possible! Haha! It is, indeed, the only time he has ever willingly been recontained... you letting him know of 053's views of him... maybe he does have at least one person out there that he wouldn't want to hurt.
"So... is there any location you'd like to be taken to for any tests? And which of the Euclid SCPs would you like to encounter for a test?" Doctor Harper asked.
"Well, my limit is 10, so I need to decide carefully... of the lot, the first few I can choose without issue are 053, 049, and 066. But my first test I wish to encounter with? I want to find the only other sentient teddy bear that is in containment and see if it knows anything about the exact opposite creature," I said, which the two doctors looked at each other and then back at me.
"You mean you want to experiment with SCP-2295?" Doctor Carver asked, me nodding.
"Then we'll be needing to be going to Site 37 effective immediately," Doctor Harper said, me nodding as I then simply joined her and Doctor Carver on a jet plane hidden in the ground close to the facility and we flew off towards the area in question. And after a long enough time, I saw that Site 37 was in Canada in the frigid wilderness.
"Brr... from desert to ice... should've packed a coat," I admitted.
"It's heated on the interior. Just be extremely careful when in this site. It's containment includes SCP-7639 and SCP-7939. It may consider you as a Foundation member, as you're incredibly important, so be careful with any and all toilets you use and make sure to read all of the notes we have in there. If there has been a total of 3 names on the paper, do not apply as the fourth name. 3 names every 24 hours or another incident of 7939 will most likely occur," Doctor Harper said, me nodding at her as we then went to the place and entered within, me looking around before then seeing a certain person among the flock.
"So... you're the immune one, ain't ya?" asked a very familiar voice and face. I looked at his SCP number and smiled widely.
"I see you have been promoted from D-9431 to SCP-9431, huh?" The man just nodded solemnly.
"I guess so... I heard you helped stop that damn bear and his numerous clones. Still not as impressive as my saving and loading, as you called it," he winked at me.
"Yeah, indeed. Let's get going to meet up with 2295," I said, him looking at me in confusion as Doctor Carver simply led me to the locker that held the adorable teddy bear with a heart of gold, him opening it and handing the bear to me in its inactive state. And, when I held the bear, it immediately became active and looked at Carver and then at me.
"I'm awake? But... there's no one to heal?... You're pretty unique, huh, mister?" SCP-2295 asked, me simply nodding at her. Yes, it had a very feminine voice. Almost like the character 'Hello Nurse' from Animaniacs.
"I am... hey, while you're awake, I wanted to ask you some questions. Consider it an official interview, as I'm the only one who can understand you, okay?" I smiled, which the bear cooed after.
"Never got to talk to anyone else other than my brother. What would you like to talk about?" she asked, me looking at the others and nodding.
"We wanted to know... do you know anything about SCP-1048? The teddy bear that can create clones of itself?" I asked, her nodding her head.
"Yeah, I do! He's my twin brother! He was given to my original owner's sister after she was born, but I was given to her brother on the same day as he was dying... after seeing that happen, I swore to save anyone I could possibly save with my powers," she smirked, me looking at the others after.
"What is it saying?" Doctor Carver asked.
"She claims that 1048 is her twin brother. 1048 was given to the sister of 2295's original owner. 1048 was given to a newborn baby and 2295 was given to a kid as he was dying... we wanted to let you know... 1048 had escaped containment for quite awhile and tried to attack us a lot. And he killed a lot of people," I said, 2295 sighing after that.
"I beg of you, don't blame him for his actions... he's got his own methods, I'm sure... I try to help people, I'm sure he wanted to do the same thing. He just did it in a darker way..." she said, me sighing after.
"I'm sure that, maybe some day, he could learn how to help others... but as of right now, he's in time-out for his bad actions. You happen to know who created both of you, per chance?" I asked.
"Oh, of course! Our creator was the grandmother of our original owners. She made us in secret from the Amazing Doctor for her grandkids to let us know how much she loved us," she said, me knowing enough about the different factions to ask a serious question.
"By 'Amazing Doctor', do you mean 'Doctor Wondertainment'?"
"Yeah, that's them! Never met the doctor themselves, but I heard that they can change their shape to different forms."
"Thanks for the new knowledge... of all of this... would you like to go back to bed again?" I asked, her nodding at that.
"Yes, please," she said, me then placing her back in her locker and, the moment my hands left her, she started to become inactive again. "Sweet dreams... to all..." she said before doing a single snooze and then becoming completely inanimate.
"So, what did you learn from this interview? Because we couldn't understand a word of it," Doctor Carver asked.
"She claimed that 1048 was her twin brother, created by the grandmother of the children they were given to. Said grandmother apparently made them in secrecy from her employer, the infamous Doctor Wondertainment. 1048 was given to her newborn granddaughter and 2295 was given to her dying grandson. 2295 was upset at seeing her child die shortly after meeting him, and swore to assist as many people as she could if they were sick. And she begged us to not blame 1048 for the actions he did. He had similar intentions to 2295, he just took a darker route to achieve it. And she also said one more thing. That Doctor Wondertainment was able to actually change their appearance to anything they wanted. So yeah, no wonder we can't discern who or where they are," I said, the duo nodding at this.
"I see... this is, indeed, a bit surprising. That an employee of Doctor Wondertainment would make one of our safest SCPs... and one of our most dangerous," Doctor Carver frowned. And then, an announcement went over the PA systems.
"Attention, Site Director 04-37. SCP-049 is arriving for experimentation with SCP-789XP. Proceed to docking bay C with Marcus Osmond immediately with proper protection," the announcement said, me being surprirsed, but nodding all the same.
"You ready to meet with the Plague Doctor?" he asked, me nodding at him.
"Just try not to agitate him. Last thing we need is for him to breach containment in Canada," I said, him nodding as we then proceeded to the location of the docking bay and we saw that the Plague Doctor was in his containment willingly and they also brought in someone... specific. More specifically, it was a corpse of some poor guard at the facility 049 was brought from. 049 then looked at me as he, the corpse, and I were all surrounded in a glass dome with airholes in the top and he spoke.
"I apologize for this... he had the Pestilence within him, and I begged of them to allow me at least one observed surgery with my only hope... and when they asked what hope I mentioned, I spoke of your appearance, as I never really got your name back then... they claim that you've become an SCP, like myself," the beak-faced doctor spoke, me nodding at him.
"I am... and apparently my power is that, as opposed to getting any negative effects from anomolous and dangerous SCPs, I only absorb the positive stuff. And all negative effects, such as your curing touch, I'm just immune to."
"I was also told you come from another universe entirely... that you know of many of us SCPs, yet do not encounter any in your world... could I ask if you could look at my journal? You may be able to decipher it, as none else other than myself are able to. Maybe you can be of use," he said, me then nodding as I looked at his journal that he used for medical science... and, much like with everything else, it just seemed to be normal, ye-olde English.
"Yet another anomalous effect you seem to have. I can read this just fine in medieval English. It seems that anyone other than you and me are unable to decipher the texts your write," I said, him nodding.
"Flip to page 22. That is where the effects of the Pestilence I speak of are located. And how it is exceedingly dangerous," he said, me then nodding and going to said page and nodding.
"Ah, here we are... forgive me for explaining in modern English as opposed to medieval," I spoke, which the Plague Doctor nodded at solemnly.
"Pestilence effects on the human body. A visible aura of illness only visible to myself (SCP-049). Anyone afflicted with this illness has a slight swelling of their brain, caused by an unseen parasitoid which I do not know the origins of, though I am sure that rats are involved. If kept in the head for too long, this Pestilence can spread to others, eventually resulting in a hive mind. It is incredibly dangerous not just to humans, but any who have this parasite. If kept in them for too long around... felines... it will... turn them into a feline fanatic..."
After reading that bit, I could only sound like I was super confused as I realized what exactly this Pestilence was... it couldn't be something so easy to explain to the guy, could it? I then simply looked at the doctor and spoke.
"Ah... You may not believe me, doc, but I know exactly as to what this parasite-like Pestilence is... it's extremely common in my world," I said, him looking at me in confusion. "The proper term we use is called 'Toxoplasmosis', which has these parasites that infect mice and rats control their heads to go towards cats. The cats eat them, get the disease, and then they turn into intestinal worms. Their eggs are then in their litter, and if anyone is careless when cleaning the litterbox, they could easily get the eggs in their body."
"You know exactly the life process of this Pestilence! Impressive! Anything else? Namely about a true cure?" he asked, me nodding.
"Well, there is more to the story... the thing of it turning you into a feline fanatic? That's not really true, at least in my world. It's actually completely harmless in my world, but is considered as slightly dangerous to pregnant women and those with immune disorders like HIV or AIDS," I said, which the doctor looked at me in... visible confusion.
"It's... harmless, you say?"
"Keep in mind, I'm speaking from what this disease is like in my universe. In this universe, it could be something different, but that I'm unsure on... but as for the cure in my world, there are some treatments for those that need it, like the examples I listed, which consist of pyrimethamine, sulfadiazine, and folinic acid. Though it isn't a complete cure, as, eventually, the Toxoplasmosis, in a good majority of individuals, is able to just go away after enough time passes," I explained, which the doctor nodded at.
"I see... it appears that this disease is much, much different between our universes... as for these items you describe as a cure... I have never heard of those names before... could it be possible for you to ask the ones observing to procure these items for us?" he asked, me nodding at him as I then went to the speaking slot and opened it to speak with Doctor Harper.
"Doctor Harper, I'd like to request some specific medicines in order to assist 049. I happen to know of what this 'Pestilence' truly is, and I can give you the rundown now, or after the items are procured," I spoke, her then speaking after.
"Just to ask, what is the truth about this 'Pestilence'?" It was time to see her reaction to this.
"Tss... you'll never believe it, but... Toxoplasmosis," I said, her then looking surprised at that.
"So that's what it is!... I always wondered why the highest number of 'Pestilence' victims were those that owned cats... now I know... so what are these items that you require?"
"I'll need the items that are seen as a 'temporary' cure in my world, but may be able to do the deed in this one. We'll need pyrimethamine, sulfadiazine, and folinic acid. Enough for a single dose for an adult male," I explained, as that was what the guard was.
"I believe all of those items are on the site. I'll approve it immediately and grab those materials right now! Just sit tight and... try and make small talk with 049 until then," she said as she then had some of her scientist friends go with her as I stayed in the dome with 049.
"And now we play the waiting game for the materials," I said, which 049 nodded at.
"Would you like to know more about me, per chance? I feel I can trust you to keep some secrets from the others," he said, me humming after. "One thing to note before I speak, it's telepathic, and I can only talk to those I wish to converse with... and I feel you are trustworthy."
"Indeed. I promise," I said, him speaking after. But because of the promise I made, I can't give too much information, so I will only say this much. He was cursed during the 1400's by a petty rival during the great plague. And during this, this rival stole his daughter and turned her into the incubus for the Pestilence while also forcing 049 to forget almost everything about his life prior to that. And he has been forced to go after this Pestilence ever since. But I didn't know what could be seen as truthful or falsely implanted memories, so this will have its own color of ink in green, which is what I am unsure of truth or falsehood.
After hearing his tale and waiting for a good 3 minutes after a nearly 10-minute-long story, I got the items from the scientists and proceeded to actually assist with 049's surgery. He proceeded to apply the items to his medical bag and, afterwards, his eyes lit up and he proceeded to do a MUCH more applicable surgery to the guy. And after only 2 minutes, the guard's eyes then opened slowly and he looked around, seeming to be a bit groggy as he looked up towards my face.
"Hello there, sir. How are you doing?" I asked him, the guy groaning as he got up.
"I feel... a little light-headed... like I were having some... strange dream," he admitted as I helped him off the ground. And after he blinked a couple of times, he then looked to his right and then looked a little spooked at seeing 049 right there.
"At ease, soldier. I helped and you aren't an 049-2 instance... you've been actually, really-for-real cured," I said, him then breathing in and out as 049 spoke.
"Indeed... this man has helped to complete the perfect cure for the Pestilence... and I am forever grateful for your help. Now, with the items procured into my bag, I should be able to stop the pestilence at its source, so long as they allow me to venture to the Pestilence at its roots," he said, me looking at him in surprise.
"And uh... where is the root of the Pestilence located at as of now?" I asked him.
"Unfortunately, that I am unsure of... it has been centuries since I've seen her... she may show her face one day, but until that day arrives, I'd be grateful to help cure as many as possible, but only if they allow me to do so."
"I can speak to them for you and try to convince them... so long as you don't mind me sharing who this Pestilence's true identity is? If we know her name and they know who she is to you, they could be able to find her much easier than just one lone doctor," I smiled, the Plague Doctor humming after.
"I shall allow it... so long as you don't reveal everything about my past..."
"Done deal, doc."
"Please, call me PD. Only you may call me that, Marcus Osmond," he said, me feeling that he was smiling behind that giant mask. I then left the tube alongside the newly revived guard and said guard then looked at the others with a salute.
"Ready to go back to duty, sirs... as soon as I get some food. I guess being in that state made me hungry... but boy do I have a dream to tell you about," he said, me looking at him with a look of surprise.
"Why don't we go to lunch together? I think 458 still has some pizza in it. And while we eat, you call tell us all about it," Doctor Harper said.
"And I can write it all down," I smiled.
