After the incident with her apartment, Eula decided she had to leave Mondstadt for a while. Knowing somebody broke in and trashed it once, she couldn't stay there. She needed some time away from Mondstadt. Kaeya made a peculiar suggestion: why not vacation in Sumeru?

Lugging her knapsack up the road, Eula saw her red-haired friend Nilou at the city entrance. The dancer waved at her.

"Hey," said Nilou happily, "welcome!"

They made a little small talk while Nilou brought Eula to her house. There, she unpacked her luggage and stretched out. It'd been an easy road, thankfully. Nilou invited her to the Grand Bazaar for lunch.

"I'm so glad you could visit," said Nilou. "We never get to hang out, do we?"

"You are a gracious host," said Eula. "I will remember this!"

Nilou smiled in her innocent, airheaded way.

She brought Eula to her favorite stall, where they ate Tanchin. The vendor, Mr. Jut, generously offered them the meal at a discount. He insisted Nilou and her friend accept some extra treats. Throughout their meal, people stopped by their table and greeted Nilou with warm hellos.

Suddenly, Afshin came running into the Bazaar crying for help. Sahar and the Corp of Thirty managed to calm him down enough to get the story. His shipment of goods had been attacked by hillichurls just outside the city.

Sahar promised she'd gather up some warriors quickly. Eula was the first to volunteer. She, Nilou, and Sahar raced outside the city. It didn't take long to find the dozen hillichurls and one mitachurl bashing the cargo balloon.

Eula tore through them all. Even the mitachurl fell before her.

They returned to the Bazaar with the goods intact, much to Afshin's joy.

"It was all thanks to Eula," said Sahar. "She handled the mitachurl without breaking a sweat."

People insisted on shaking her hand. Everyone crowded them, clapping them on the back and thanking them. The General Mahamatra Cyno himself appeared and said, "Eula, as General Mahamatra, I'd like to say thank you on behalf of Sumeru City." Once he acknowledged her, that seemed to settle the matter: she was unquestionably a hero.

Merchants offered her free treats, souvenirs, and goodies. A dozen kids surrounded her, asking her how she got so strong, what it was like in Mondstadt, and requesting swordsmanship lessons. It was an odd experience for Eula, though not an unpleasant one.

After much prodding, Eula told them a bit about her life. Nobody cared that she came from the Lawrence Clan or that she had odd ways of speaking. If anything, her quirks fascinated them even more. What made her abandon her clan to join the Knights? How did she rise up the ranks to become a reconnaissance captain? Why did she trade an easy life for one of hardship?

She answered everything as honestly as she could. They all seemed to think her a hero, even when they learned of her Clan's former depravity. To them, her Clan's past transgressions had nothing to do with Eula.

Offhandedly, she mentioned learning how to dance as a child. That somehow landed her on the stage dancing with Nilou, where people applauded and cheered.

As they returned to the apartment, Eula felt herself in high spirits. People smiled and waved at them when they passed by. Many pressed tokens of gifts into their palms. It was nice.

"Thank you, Nilou," she said. "It's been a long time since I felt so welcome."

"You could always stay. Everyone would love to have you here."

The idea was rather nice.

"That's a generous offer," said Eula. "But I must decline. Mondstadt is my home. Yes, it has problems, but I can't just run away from my problems forever."

"Are you sure? Don't you get lonely over there?"

"Sometimes," she admitted. "But I am not alone. Even if I lose faith in the city and her people, I won't lose faith in my friends."

Eula gave Nilou's hand a little squeeze. Hand in hand, the friends went home.
