So here we are! The part you all were waiting for!

Yes..IT'S FITZ'S PERSPECTIVE! This happened right after Biana's POV chapter btw.

I just wanted to tell you all that I'm not against Fitz. Sure he's made mistakes and can be crazy sometimes, but he's still a well thought out character who's going through some really hard stuff at the moment! I mean, we're all stressing about finals, and jobs, but he's stressing about public shame, family betrayal, AND constant anxiety over his, his family, and friends' lives!

And on top of that, now the girl he loves dumps him for his best friend?

That's why I made him happy for her in the end. He deserved some peace. Hate me if you want, but this scene is going to make Fitz the good guy! ️

Everyone else rushed to join the group hug except Wylie, Stina, and Tam, though they were clapping. Wylie was clapping enthusiastically, Tam clapped with a smile, and Stina clapped with her eyes narrowed, like she couldn't believe Sophie got a guy before her.

But Fitz wasn't doing any of that. He was just sitting in a corner, suddenly alone. He had a shocked expression on his face and was staring at Sophie and Keefe, completely oblivious to him.

Sophie.

The girl of his dreams.

The girl he loved.

The girl who was his Cognate.

The girl he'd been with, through thick and thin.

The girl who knew him better than anyone.

She chose his best friend over him.

It wasn't a happy thought.

His hands curled into fists and he closed his eyes angrily. He looked up at Sophie again and his eyes widened as he saw something he had never seen on her before.

Joy.

Pure euphoria that wasn't filtered or contained. Bliss he never saw when she was with him. Happiness that he knew would follow her everywhere.

But only if she was with Keefe.

As he thought this, he realized that Keefe made her laugh, and she was always so comfortable with him. With Fitz, she was always nervous and thought she wasn't good enough. He wanted to turn back time and tell her that she was all that he wanted and more…But he couldn't.

Sophie had chosen Keefe.

He watched his friends happily celebrate them, and felt a sadness that was worse than any he'd ever felt. Bigger than when he realized his brother had been lying and spying on him for his whole life. Worse than when he had to leave home, to escape the Council, and didn't see his parents for weeks and weeks. Bigger than when his father's mind broke, and he was in a state of pure rage and hysteria for a month.

He knew he had lost any chance of gaining Sophie back.

But maybe someday, when all this hurt and pain went away, they could be friends again.

He wanted that…more than anyone knew.

Fitz left everyone to congratulate Team Foster-Keefe, slipping away unnoticed.

Wow…I'm reading that again to myself, and…wow, was that heavy! Sorry to end this story bittersweet, but I have some good news for you! I'm doing review/author reacts! I'll start from the very beginning and work my way up =) ~o~ XD ;)
