The battle with Fiendish Gargoyle and Phoenix Flame might be reaching it's end. Maru makes his final stand against Phatar.
"Five-Star Formation: Sun!" Maru formed his next attack with each of those lights carrying a piece of the friends he had in Phoenix Flame. Phatar was starting to get angry now.
"Give me your best shot!" Phatar called as he wasn't backing down either. He charged right at Maru with the intent to tear him apart, but Maru unleashed the five lights. All of them blasted against Phatar and were dealing some damage, but Phatar was stubborn. "Throw all the light you want! You still can't beat me!" Phatar called as he attempted to attack once again. Maru had enough of this and decided to go for the finishing strike. He gathered light all around him with him rotating his arms clockwise. Johnson could sense something about this light that didn't seem normal Despite that, Phatar jumped up to attack. "You will never beat me!"
"Stop, Phatar! That isn't normal light magic!" Johnson called, but it was too late.
"Ultimate Attack! Heaven's Divinity: Celestial Fury!" Maru unleashed so much light with so much force. It smashed right into Phatar. Not only that, but a series of strikes in a circle threw at Phatar and smashed against him. It was like being hit by a series of punches, tons of shooting stars, that were too fast for Phatar to avoid. They kept pounding against Phatar until he hit the ceiling. That was enough to finish this as Phatar dropped down and hit the ground. It didn't look like Phatar was getting back up after that.
"He did it!" Yukina said.
"Impossible! I've never seen Phatar lose before!" Johnson said.
"Oh yeah! I knew Maru couldn't lose to a jerk like that!" Sandy cheered.
"Amazing... I've never seen anything like that." Mary said as she was so moved by what she witnessed. "That light felt so warm and inviting. It was as if the light came from the very heavens." Maru did rather well as he managed to beat their best wizard, but he did burn through a lot of power. He didn't have much left in him.
"Maru, are you okay?!" Sandy called.
"I'm fine. Let's just get out of here." Maru said. However, a bit of dark magic came and grabbed a hold of Maru. It pulled on him and threw him near the girls and Sandy.
"Did you forget I'm still here?" Johnson said as he was still standing. "You certainly hold interesting magic, but you seemed to have used up most of it."
"Father, enough is enough!" Yukina called. "You've lost this battle! Please just stop all of this!"
"Are you kidding me?! Do you know how competitive it is out there?! How is it going to look to see a light guild pushed me around?!" Johnson said. "There's so much more to this than you might think, but it doesn't matter! You are my daughter and you are not leaving me!" Johnson still won't let her go, but they might not be able to fight their way out. Johsnon just simply refuses to admit that he's beat, as do some criminals. They could be in trouble with this. Just then, they heard an explosion go off from the stairs.
"What was that?!" Mary said.
"Wait... This magic I'm sensing..." Maru recognized. They all saw someone make their way up the stairs and were radiating with magic.
"You wage war on us for your own selfish reasons. Your guild has been defeated, and yet you refuse to surrender. It would be admirable if it weren't for the fact that you're being completely stubborn and irrational."
"Master!" Maru called. All of them could see that Velvet has made his way up. All the fighting outside is over, and that Fiendish Gargoyle lost. Johnson alone stands, and Velvet has taken it upon himself to end this.
"This madness ends now." Velvet said.
"You still continue to defy me?" Johnson said as he was greatly irritated. "You, a mere light guild?!"
"Since you refuse to submit and recognize that you lost, you have only yourself to blame for this." Velvet said. "If this is the only way for this to end, so be it." Both of them were exerting so much magic that it was causing the place to shake.
"Why is the room shaking?!" Mary said.
"They're both exerting some magic power." Maru said.
"What kind of magic does Velvet even use?" Mary questioned.
"It's called red magic." Sandy said.
"Red magic?" Mary questioned.
"It's magic that's tied to his rage." Maru said. With Velvet exerting this much, Maru knows this is going to get rough.
"You are about to witness what power this guild truly holds!" Velvet claimed. Suddenly, this fight was on. The first collision of power was so immense that it nearly blew the the roof off the place quite literally. The two of master clashed against each other with magic power exploding from them. As they tried to over power the other, Johnson held out his spare arm and unleashed streams of darkness at him, but Velvet managed to jump away and avoided them. Then, Velvet held out his arms and fired away red blasts at him. Johnson tried to jump away, but the impact of those attacks held more power.
"No way! What kind of magic is this?!" Johnson said. Velvet landed down and fired a powerful beam right at him. Johnson attempted to fire a dark blast to try and stop the attack, but he just barely managed to stop it. "What's with this magic?"
"It is said that red magic is magic that ties to one's rage, but I see it differently." Velvet claimed. "I see it as magic that is fueled by the flame that burns inside me!" Velvet continues to exert even more magic. It was unreal seeing so much magic power come from him. With how he views his own magic, it seems so fitting for the master of this guild.
"Damn you!" Johnson called as he fired another dark blast at him, but Velvet fired his own and cancelled it out.
"I must admit that I'm rather impressed." Velvet said. "You certainly hold some power yourself. Your dark magic is similar to Phatar's."
"Why do you think others call him my protégé? I was the one who taught him some of what he knows, and he picked up on it rather well." Johnson said.
"It's just too bad. Even if you do use darkness magic, you could have inspired so many and helped others." Velvet said. "Instead, you decided to pursue your own selfish goals with it. I suppose it can't be helped. There are just those out there that prefer to use their magic for themselves. They see what they can do as a way to get what they want even at the cost of others getting hurt. You could have made such a difference in the world, but you chose this life instead. Maybe you do have good reasons, but you lead by setting a bad example."
"Are you actually lecturing me?" Johnson said.
"I only use this spell when I think it is a must." Velvet claimed as he got something ready. "A battle between the two of us could last much longer, but I rather end this here and ensure that this doesn't happen again. To show you what power you could have had, and that we actually can bring magic to it's full potential. If you wish to beg for mercy or ask for forgiveness, now would be the time to do so."
"Are you kidding?! Me?! Beg for forgiveness or mercy?!" Johnson said as he found that ridiculous.
"So be it." Velvet said as he got a spell ready. He clapped his hands together and it unleashed a bright red light. A red light that was so bright and intense that it was enveloping everything in the area. "Scarlight." With that, the red light swallowed everything in the area.
...
Outside
The light was so powerful and immense that it could even be seen outside. It turned the sky red and shined down on the area. All of those outside watched and basked in the light, but it didn't seem to do much to them.
"What's going on?! What is that red light?!" Gin questioned.
"This is Scarlight!" Aster said.
"What's that?" Gin questioned.
"It's our master's most powerful spell from his red magic." Aster said. "It won't have any effect on us. It's a spell that only effects on whoever the caster chooses. No one can withstand it." It certainly seems like a powerful spell. The type of spell a dark guild would have believed a light guild never would have obtained.
...
The Fight
Maru and the others tried to endure the light, shield their eyes from it. When the red light cleared away, they could all see again and saw something unreal. One moment, Johnson was standing. When the light vanished, they saw Johnson was on the ground. He was completely incapacitated, not even conscious or anything.
"He's... He's down?" Mary questioned. "What the hell just happened in that light?"
"That was our master's best spell." Maru said. They all couldn't believe that Johnson was taken down so easily. The fight would have lasted much longer, but Velvet pulling out that spell completely turned the tide.
"I only use that spell on a very powerful enemy, when I feel that I must." Velvet said. "I made an exception for someone like you. It basks whoever I decide in a powerful light that will leave you devoid of strength. This guild is my life, entrusted to me by the master before me. I can be a reasonable man, but if you push me, I will do what I must for those of my guild on behalf of those that came before me. This battle is over." Could it really be over? Just like that? It might be, but they were all speechless on what they saw.
"Master..." Yukina muttered. Velvet walked right over with Yukina actually a little worried. Never has she seen the master like this before and is now a little scared on what he might do next. When he came over to her, Yukina could barely look at him until she felt him free her hands. "Master Velvet?"
"What are you scared of? I came here for you and the others." Velvet said with holding out his hand for her. "Come now, Yukina. It's time to come home." He said with such a gentle smile. The kind that made her feel more at ease. He helped her stand and she felt like she was finally free. "Let's go. Everyone is waiting." Maru and the others managed to get back up and could now take Yukina away from this place. As they were on their way down, Yukina looked back one last time at her father. So much she wishes she could say, but she can't now. All she can do now is turn away from him in the state he's in now and leave with Phoenix Flame.
...
Outside
All of those in Fiendish Gargoyle were defeated by the other members of Phoenix Flame while Maru and the others were fighting inside. It wasn't so bad considering this great guild had a decent number of members. When Velvet and the others came out, everyone cheered as they knew they won and had them join in the celebration.
"Yukina!" Aster called as he and Gin raced over. "You're okay!"
"I'm glad to see you're not hurt." Gin said.
"Thank you, but I suppose that's because I have all of you to thank." Yukina said.
"You should all be proud of yourselves." Velvet said to his whole guild. "Not only have you all rose to the challenge, but you did it for one of our own. I know I'm quite proud." They all really were. They all felt like proud members of the guild after this. All except for Yukina that is.
"Master Velvet..." Yukina said as she stepped forward. "I'm sorry. This is all really my fault."
"What are you talking about, Yukina? You didn't ask those guys to do any of this." Gin said.
"Well, they did because of her and it was her father." Mary pointed out.
"Not helping." Maru argued.
"But it is true." Yukina said as she felt ashamed. "My father ran this guild. It was smaller back then, but I've seen him made some deals with shady people and committed other acts that I couldn't agree to. It... It got to the point where I was always scared of what he was doing. I even saw him actually hurt people. He even expected me to follow in his footsteps and take over one day. That wasn't what I wanted, but it wasn't good enough for him. I couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to just runaway. I even changed my last name so that he wouldn't find me. If I wasn't selfish, this wouldn't have happened in the first place. I knew I had to be the reason Fiendish Gargoyle came after us, but I still didn't say anything."
"But your father sounded like such a rotten man, Yukina." Gin said.
"Yukina, none of us blame you for this." Aster said. "We can only assume you didn't tell us the truth because you didn't want to be associated with this place." They all tried to make her feel better, but she still felt so guilty that tears were beginning to form.
"If you were scared all the time, what you did took a lot of courage." Velvet said with Yukina looking up at him. "Just because we work at a guild or taken on challenges doesn't mean we don't have feelings. We're human beings. That means we naturally have emotions. We have things that make us happy, mad, or sad. It's natural for us to pursue what makes us happy. That's what you did, Yukina. Some people aren't capable of doing that because of their fear and doubts. There might be those who try to hinder that, but we have to be able to push on ahead and find our own way. Our guild takes in those who can do just that. For you to leave your home the way you did, you hold the potential to do that. In doing so, you found a place where people truly care for you. A place where you should feel like yourself. Hold your head up high, Yukina Winters. You don't need to run anymore because you are where you belong." Yukina could feel that she was surrounded by so much care. She didn't need to hold back the tears anymore, but she was able to change them into ones of joy. She really is where she belongs. "Now, I think it's time we all head home."
"Halt!" All of them weren't able to leave because they found themselves faced with new people.
"Who are these guys?!" Mary said.
"They work for the Magic Council!" Maru said.
"What are they doing here?!" Sandy said.
"What is the meaning of this?" Velvet asked as he spoke to the captain of this squad.
"You are Master Velvet of Phoenix Flame, are you not? We need you and the members of your guild to come with us for questioning." The captain said. "A member of your guild alerted the Magic Council that you've been attacked by a dark guild. We have a general idea of what has been going on, but we need everyone here to answer some questions for us to have the whole story."
"Someone from my guild informed them?" Velvet questioned as he wondered who. 'There are only a few members unaccounted for. The only one who would have been most likely to do this is...Frio!' Velvet figured that since one of their best wasn't here, he would find another way to help them out. Frio might not have joined them in the battle, but it looks like he does care for this guild.
"Oh boy... I've got a feeling this is going to take a long time." Maru said.
"Doesn't matter what happened now. Trouble with the Magic Council is never good." Gin said. "Regardless of how this all played out, there's still that anti-guild-conflict-treaty or whatever it's called. We still fought with another guild."
"What do I keep getting myself into?" Mary complained. Their battle with Fiendish Gargoyle might be over, but they won't be able to fight their way out of this one.
