Afterwards, the two dogs and cat walked to the other side of the alleyway. Lucy stayed as far from the white shepherd as much as she could. Meanwhile, Mittens was trying everything she could to get loose but she was being dragged behind the white shepherd.
"Ooh, there we go," Bolt said as he saw a U-haul moving truck parked on the side of the road. "Wait, what're we going to do with that…?" Lucy asked when she saw him trot over to the U-haul truck. She walked behind him, seeing Mittens getting dragged behind him as he trotted over to the moving truck.
Bolt stopped behind the truck, which was closed and locked by a metal padlock. "Hm… Padlocked," Bolt said, his eyes opening all the way and he froze like a statue, keeping his tail raised up all the way. Mittens was trying desperately trying to pull away from him while he didn't move.
Lucy raised an eyebrow, staring at him while she walked over to him. She didn't know why he was staring at the truck like that. It weirded her out. Mittens groaned and she jumped to her paws, her thin tail raised all the way. "Listen, Cujo! I have some pretty wicked claws under these mitts! Please don't make me bring out these bad boys! Trust me, it gets ugly!" she shouted, sitting up while she put her front legs back.
Lucy couldn't take her eyes off of the shepherd. "What is he doing?" she asked. "You two stay back! If I stare at the lock really hard, it'll burst into flames and melt…" he said, his eyes starting to twitch from his lack of blinking.
Mittens facepalmed very hard with her eyes shut. "He seriously thinks he has superpowers," Mittens said, which baffled the husky. "Wow… he really isn't there all the way…" Lucy said, dropping her ears a bit. This dog couldn't seriously be this delusional.
Then, they all hear the sound of two people coming down from the building adjacent to them, making them look over at it. Out of instinct, Lucy ran towards a blue mailbox that was across the street. Bolt followed, causing Mittens to shout out, "Slow down! You're scraping the fur off of my-" but she was knocked out by slamming onto the mailbox.
"Good thinking, Lucy. Those intruders were going to catch us," Bolt said when he made it to the mailbox. Lucy rolled her light blue eyes at him. "I wasn't doing it for you," she whispered, but he covered her mouth with his paw. "Shh, don't give away our positions," he whispered.
"Don't put your paw on my mouth! I have no idea where it's been," Lucy growled, keeping her voice quiet as she shoved his paw away. Bolt peeked around the corner, watching as two men came out with a couch. "Hey, put it down! I forgot the keys!" the thinner guy said, setting the couch down on the ground.
The fatter guy sat down on the couch while he waited, acting more tired that he really was. To distract him, Bolt rolled a penny towards him, letting it hit his foot. "Hey, lucky penny!" the guy said as he picked it up. While he was distracted, the two dogs and cat went under the couch to stowaway on the U-Haul truck.
After they closed the back door to the U-haul truck, the three animals felt the truck started to move. The truck drove out of the city and across the bridge, starting their journey to Hollywood.
*X*
Eight hours and forty minutes later, they made it in Ohio. The animals had come out of hiding. Bolt sat down in the middle of the couch they stowed away in. Lucy was laying on the floor in the sphinx position. Her tail was curled on her right side. Her head was laying in between her forelegs, trying to sleep.
Mittens was behind the couch trying to find something. Possibly something to hit him over the head with, which Lucy couldn't argue with. "So… tell us, if you got superpowers, does that mean you're a superdog of some sort?" Mittens asked him.
"That information is classified," the white shepherd blandly said. Lucy rolled her eyes at what he said. She adjusted her head to where it laid on her right leg, so she wouldn't have to look at him. His arrogance was really getting on her nerves. "Aw, come on! What's your best power? Do you fly?" Mittens asked as she looked through the boxes that sat behind the couch.
Bolt rolled his eyes at that accusation and he said, "Don't be silly. I can't fly," Lucy didn't want to hear anything about his so-called superpowers. She didn't understand why Mittens was asking him about it. "Okay, okay. If you don't have any powers, you don't have any powers. What's it to us?" Mittens asked.
Bolt curled his muzzle and he glanced up while thinking for an answer. "I have a superbark," he said, glancing over his shoulder a bit. Lucy's ears dropped when he said that. "Wow, you're kidding me! What does one do with a superbark?" the cat asked as she spotted a baseball bat. She hopped on the boxes in order to get to it.
"I really cannot talk about it. It's classified. So why don't you pipe down and take me to Penny," he said to the cat, unaware of what she was doing. Lucy glared up at him when he said this. The name Penny was very familiar to the red husky, but she couldn't exactly pinpoint who the name belonged to.
"Why do you gotta sound so arrogant?" she asked in a cynical tone, her ears dropped a bit. Bolt glanced down at her for a second before rolling his eyes. "Because she's my person," he told her. "Please, she's a person. There's not a good person that I've met…" Lucy said, remembering how bad the humans had treated her when she was in the dog fights.
"Why don't you have a person, Lucy? If you did, you'd understand how they are," Bolt asked her. Lucy tensed up and she looked away. "That's… none of your business," she glared up at him, baring her teeth at him. She despised talking about her past.
"Yeah, and if you ask us, the only good person is a- Waa!" Mittens shouted as she raised the bat to hit the shepherd over the head. However, the bat was too heavy for her and she ended up falling behind the couch, falling against a box that had styrofoam packing peanuts in it. The box fell right on Bolt, which made him freak out.
"STYROFOAM!" he yelped, jumping off of the couch. Lucy jumped to her paws when he did that. "Whoa, what are you doing!?" she shouted, her fur bristled up a bit. Bolt didn't answer her and opened the back door, letting it spring open. "Tuck and roll, you two!" he shouted, looking back at them.
"Tuck and what?!" Mittens exclaimed out, suddenly being pulled behind Bolt as he leapt out of the truck. Lucy was knocked out of the van when Mittens was yanked forward. They all fell in a field that had long grass, rolling down the hill while yelping in pain.
When they made it down the hill, Lucy felt her whole body ache from how hard she went down the hill. "Ugh…" she groaned, getting to her paws and she shook her red and white fur to get the sticks and the leaves out of her tousled fur. "Oww…" Bolt groaned when he got back up with one of his forepaws raised up.
He turned it over and saw that blood was coming out of it. "What…? What is this red liquid coming from my paw?" he asked as he stared at his paw in confusion. Lucy was in disbelief that he didn't know about blood. "It's called blood, you airheaded moron," she said, putting her paw against her face, as if she was facepalming.
"Do I need it?" Bolt asked, tilting his head at his paw. Lucy thought she was losing brain cells just from being around him. "Yes! If you want to keep it in your body, where it's supposed to be, don't jump from trucks that are going 80 on the interstate!" Mittens exclaimed as she shook a thorn from her paw.
"Well, I'm more indestructible. It must be-" Bolt said as he set his paw down again. He then saw a lone packing peanut that was laying on the dirt a few feet away, which instantly scared him. "Styrofoam! It weakens me!" he shouted, cowering down in fear. Lucy looked at him like he was crazy.
"You're scared of that?" she asked, finding it a bit amusing that he was scared of a small packing peanut. Mittens didn't hesitate to grab the packing peanut and she held it out in front of her. "What are you doing?! Put that down!" Bolt exclaimed.
Lucy sat down and scratched her ear slowly. "Eh, not gonna happen, Supermutt," she chuckled. "Yeah, we've had enough of you! If you don't let us go, then… we'll seriously wound you with this styrofoam!" Mittens threatened, still holding the packing peanut out in front of her.
"Are you mad?! Neither of you know the power of styrofoam!" Bolt exclaimed, starting to circle around the cat. Lucy just watched this unfold in front of her, trying so hard not to laugh. It was just way too funny to see.
"Oh, yeah, I'm mad, baby! And I'm about to unleash it! The power of the styrofoam!" Mittens said, continuing to taunt the white shepherd with the packing peanut. She even shoved it in his face. He backed up a little bit, holding one of his paws up to stop her.
"Whoa, alright, cat! You win! I'll untie you and let you two go," he said, hoping to get their guard down. Then, he looked passed the cat and glanced up at the sky. 'What is he looking at?' Lucy thought, tilting her head a bit in confusion.
When Mittens looked away for a second, it gave Bolt the opportunity to knock it out of her hand and he pounced on her. Lucy froze when she saw what Bolt did. It sent her into a PTSD state for a second. It was a move that she did a lot while she was in the dogfighting ring.
The red husky couldn't hear what Bolt was saying to Mittens because it sounded muffled to her. However, she saw Bolt jump back all of a sudden and he wrapped both of his forelegs around his stomach. "Agh! What is that?!" he shouted out, looking at the cat and the red husky.
Lucy shook her head and came back to reality when he said that. "Huh? What are you talking about?" she asked, taking a few steps towards him. Mittens and Lucy both heard his stomach growling with both fore paws hugging his stomach. It didn't take them a second for them to put two and two together.
"That sound! What did you two do to me!? Did you poison me!? Or put a parasite in me?! I'm all disconcerted! I can't think straight!" he started rambling, looking downwards. Lucy and Mittens exchanged identical looks of dubiety. "I don't believe this… You're hungry," Mittens said, sitting down in front of him. His stomach growled again, which made him freak out again and he stepped on the leash, pulling the cat forward a bit.
"Where is the antidote?!" he shouted out. Lucy frowned at him while she dropped her ears. "Oh, you gotta be kidding…" she whispered. "Let's go find him the antidote," Mittens whispered to the red husky. They knew what 'antidote' he needed.
