(Escape)

The animal control truck drove down the road in the direction of a shelter Bolt, Lucy, and Mittens were trying to break out of the truck. "Must be made of... Styrofoam!" Bolt growled, scratching at the door .

"Please get me out! I can't go back! I can't!" Lucy cried, scratching at the door to get loose. "No, no, please, it can't end like this!" Mittens said in fear, scratching to get free.

"Stop worrying, you two! I'll get us out of here!" Bolt said, holding himself up on the cage door. "With what, Bolt?! You don't have anything! No super strength, no super bark..." Mittens started, walking over to the right side of her cage, "And no heat vision,"

Bolt was trying to use said heat vision to break through the door. But he stopped after the cat had said that.

"Listen, we're being taken to a place where humans go animal shopping, alright? This is what humans do they always pick the cute ones. The ones that look like you, Bolt. But the rest of us never come back out," Mittens pressed on.

Lucy laid down and rested her head between her forelegs, losing hope of getting free, like last time. "Unless you're used for humans entertainment," Lucy recalled, remembering how she got her scars.

"I said I'll get us out of here, alright?" Bolt said, backing up in the cell the furthest that he could go before ramming his head into the door, leaving nothing but a dent in the door and gave him a headache.

"Our hero..." Both Mittens and Lucy said sarcastically. Later on that night, Bolt was still trying to break through the door with no success.

"Ow..." Bolt groaned after hitting his head for the hundredth time. "Would you give it up already?" Mittens said, getting pretty annoyed with Bolt's antics.

"Yeah, you're liquifying whatever brains you have left," Lucy said with an eye roll.

"I cannot be contained... In any container! You quitters! " Bolt groggily said , feeling very dizzy from the many attempts to escape. "Watch this!" Bolt said, giving the door one last try.

The door gave way, sending Bolt flying out of the truck. Lucy, who was listening, raised her head when she heard the sound of him escaping. "Bolt?" She asked, listening for a response, but got nothing as a response.

"Looks like he knocked himself out finally," Mittens said, relieved to have some silence.

Lucy knew that Bolt had gotten out and had a strong feeling that he wouldn't come back for them like he had said.

The husky laid her head down between her forelegs, knowing what was going to happen.

(Jefferson County Animal Shelter)

The truck arrived at the shelter about half an hour later and it was way after dark. The door to Lucy's cage opened and she saw the same catcher. At first, she let out a growl of fear when the man put the leash on her neck.

She was brought inside the shelter with her ears and curled tail down. All of those memories of her being taken to the fighting ring came back to her mind. Once they got inside, the man who led her approached a woman at the front desk.

"What should I do with this dog, Esther? Looks like one of those dogs from that shelter in Denver," The fat man said. Lucy tensed up when he said that. The small woman looked over the desk and saw the husky.

"Put her in the back. I'll give that place a call in the morning," Esther said, pushing herself back onto the fatter man. Lucy looked up at the man in fear when she heard Esther mention that place.

She knew what that place was and she didn't want to go back there. The fat man led the husky to the back where the other dogs were.

She was put in an empty cage after the leash was removed. "Sleep tight. You're gonna go back home in the morning," the man said, locking the gate behind her.

The man walked out, leaving the husky with the other dogs, who were sleeping.

"I don't want to go back there… You humans don't get it…" the husky said, laying down by the door.

Mittens had been brought in too, but she was put in the cat area. Just when Lucy lost hope, she heard somebody coming into the room.

She tensed up and felt her fur bristle up. "Lucy?" Bolt said from behind her. Lucy stood up and looked behind her and she saw Bolt standing at the cage door.

Lucy couldn't believe her eyes. She never had anybody come back for her like this. "Why're you here?" She asked in surprise, turning around to face him.

"I'm busting you and Mittens out," Bolt replied with a grin. Lucy feels her heart skip a beat when she realized he had come back for her.

"How? You don't have any powers though," she said. "I know," Bolt said, looking away for a moment.

Lucy's ears perked up in surprise. "Really? Guessing you figured it out on your own, huh?" She asked.

"Yeah," the white shepherd said with a nod. Lucy tilted her head slightly to the left and her brow furrowed.

"This has been a crazy day. Let's get Mittens and get out of here. They're gonna send me back and I can't go back," Lucy said in a slight panic.

"Gotcha," Bolt said, jumping up to unlock the door with his nose. Once it was open, Lucy ran out with Bolt to get Mittens.

Bolt had used Rhino to distract the guard at the cat area. They both snuck inside and found the cat facing away from them, looking devastated like Lucy was.

"Hey, Mittens," Lucy quietly said, standing in front of her cage. Bolt stood next to her. Mittens turned around to see both dogs standing in front of her.

"What're you guys doing?" she asked. "Getting the heck out of this place. We're busting you out," Bolt said.

"He already figured out that he has no powers," Lucy said, gesturing to Bolt. "Wow, crazy day for him, huh?" Mittens, said in disbelief.

"It's been a lot. Yes, it has. Are you two ready for this?" Bolt asked. "Nope," both Lucy and Mittens said with a smile. Bolt smiled and glanced up at the lock to Mittens' cage.

"Me either," he said, unlocking it. They all run out of there in a hurry.

They had to get Rhino before leaving the place. Said guard was in the dog area, seeing what was driving the other dogs crazy. One of the dogs had Rhino's ball in his mouth and it's head was through the cage doors.

Lucy, Bolt, and Mittens arrive at the door to get the hamster. The two dogs bark once to get his attention. Said guard turned and tried to jump on them, but they jumped out of the way in time.

"Initiating escape!" the hamster said, rolling out of that dogs' mouth. Rhino hit the guard over the head then bounced on the floor. The others were running to the exit as fast as they could. "Lloyd! Block the door! Block the door! Block the door!" The guard shouted towards the fat man, who stood at the door.

"Super bark! Super bark!" Rhino exclaimed happily. "Not now, Rhino!" Lucy shouted, looking over her shoulder as she ran. The fat man, the one that had caught them to start with, blocked the open doors.

The animals slid to a stop when they saw the guard stopping them. The guard that was chasing them had slipped on the slobber that had coated Rhino's ball, landing on Bolt's tail.

That caused him to yelp and spin around to face the guard. This caused Rhino to fly across the lobby and hit the fat man in the face, knocking him to the ground.

Rhino then crashed into a helium tank, making it fly out of the door. The tank hit the shelter sign and landed atop of a truck, making it explode upon impact. Once it did, all four animals escaped and didn't turn back.
