After a while, the truck pulled into a Waffle World, which gave the animals the opportunity to continue with the on-the-job training for Bolt. Luckily, there was an empty yard that had plenty of sticks. Rhino had stayed behind to find a map so they could figure out where they had to go next.

"Alright, we're going to teach you how to play fetch, Bolt. We throw it and you go after it," Mittens said to the white shepherd. He sat aside so he could watch and learn. When Mittens threw the stick, Bolt didn't move. He didn't really know how to do it.

"Here, I'll show you how to do it," Lucy said, picking up another stick. She brought it over to the cat so they could show Bolt how to play this game. However, she was sent back into another PTSD state when Mittens lifted that stick to throw it. She cowers down in fear, dropping her ears and her tail tucked between her legs.

This concerned Mittens and Bolt when she reacted that way, unsure as to way she did. "Lucy, are you okay?" Mittens asked, lowering the stick. She jumped a bit when she heard Mittens' voice. "Um… yeah… yeah, I'm fine. Throw the stick," she said, slowly coming back to reality. Bolt was concerned for the red husky, wondering why she reacted that way with the stick.

Mittens started to wave the stick in front of the two dogs, which enticed them to play with it. They started jumping around and snapping their at the stick. The cat tossed the stick across the yard, which made the two dogs go after it.

While they rode inside the truck, Lucy used her red nose to push Rhino around playfully. She would push it to Bolt, who was in the play bow position, his tail wagging. Even Mittens would push it towards them, while Rhino laughed hysterically.

By the time evening came, they all sat at the windowsill and looked at the map to figure out where they needed to go next. Eventually, they abandoned the trailer to go on foot for a little while. They asked some pigeons for some directions, which helped some.

They spent the whole night crossing a bridge that was over a river and made it into Missouri the following morning. The four made it into a backyard that had a sprinkler in it. Mittens turned it on and she looked back at the two dogs.

Bolt started snapping his teeth at the water while Lucy jumped through the stream of water. Eventually, Bolt picked the sprinkler up and he chased Mittens and Rhino with it, which caused them to run away. Lucy barked excitedly at him, getting him to chase her with it.

Eventually, they jumped in the back of a dirt-filled truck, where the white shepherd learned how to dig and bury a bone. Sunset came, Lucy and Bolt were looking over the wall of the truck with their forepaws on it. They watched a human playing fetch with his dog, which made them smile.

Lucy would occasionally look over at the white shepherd and felt her heart speed up. She had never felt like this before in her life with anyone. It had felt like forever since they all started this journey from New York. A part of her didn't want this journey with Bolt to end.

It felt great to be so carefree and playful again after living in fear for the last four years of her life. It was so great to finally be a dog again.

She couldn't help but smile whenever she looked over at him. When she did glance away, Bolt would look at her. He scooted closer to her and put his paw on hers, which made her blush deep red. It honestly felt really good to have him by her side.

They rode on a train for a little while, just watching the world pass them by. When they stopped, Bolt surprised Lucy with a rope toy that he had found. Her tail wagged when she saw it. Lucy grabbed one end of it with her teeth and she started tugging it whilst playfully growling.

Bolt pulled back, using his own strength against her. They even found a ball of yarn for Mittens to play with, which excited the cat. She didn't hesitate to chase after it when Bolt pushed it away.

After a while, the sun was shining as they made it to a park that was unoccupied so they could rest up for a little while. Lucy was feeling playful so she play bowed in front of Bolt, wagging her curled tail a bit to entice him. He didn't know what to do so he glanced over at Mittens. She play bowed to show him how to do it.

Bolt play bowed in front of Lucy, she took off running wagging her tail. The husky remebered how to play fight, especially after being on this journey for so long. "Let's go, Bolt!" she giggled, having a paw in the air as she waited for him to chase her. Mittens gave the dog a smile before giving him the okay to play with Lucy.

The white shepherd sprang towards the husky, running through the swingset, barking with excitement. Eventually, Lucy pinned the shepherd on the grass beneath her, giving him a flirty grin while she stared into his brown eyes with her blue ones. It was true, the two dogs were starting to fall in love with each other.

Later on, the four animals rode in a canoe so they could continue their journey. Both Bolt and Lucy had their eyes closed as they rode on the top of the car, letting the breeze blow through their fur. They all traveled through the mountains while it was snowing, letting the dogs leap through the white blanket. It was more exciting for Bolt since he never saw snow before.

On a rainy night, the two dogs, cat, and hamster rode on the back of a truck that had large pipes big enough for all of them to fit inside, on the back of it. They were heading to Las Vegas. Mittens could see the mark on his side fading away, indicating that he had fully embraced being a normal dog. He let the rain hit his nose, which made him smile. Lucy also saw this and she smiled at him.

When they entered Las Vegas finally, they were all observing the beautiful lights that were coming from the many signs of the city. They couldn't stop staring at each light of this city. It was the most beautiful thing that Lucy and Bolt had ever seen in their lives.

They found a dumpster that had fresh food inside of it that the people inside had thrown out, which they were happy to see. Eventually, they all sat down in front of the Bellagio hotel, which was lit up with beautiful bright lights and the water from the fountain danced graciously in the air. Lucy rested her head against Bolt's shoulder, which made him look down at the red husky, smiling at her.
