"Oi! Stop it you two!" shouted Ron with exasperation as he caught his best mate and little sister snogging again—the twentieth time today alone! Hermione's hand collided rather forcefully with his shoulder. Her glare was as intense as a Basilisk's stare, silently warning him to mind his own business or face the consequences.
The four of them went to the edge of the forbidden forest, trying to take advantage of one of September's last warm and sunny evenings. They knew of a great spot with a sight of the black lake, which at sunset like today looked simply stunning. They also wanted to just relax with their friends drinking butterbeer. Let's just say that Umbridge hadn't helped them with their stress.
Of course, Harry and Ginny took advantage of very little time alone, at least until Ron caught up with them. He accepted the two of them dating but still wasn't comfortable enough to see them 'eating each other's mouth out' as he once put it, much to the young couple's and Hermione distaste.
They were chilling out over the shore of the lake for a few good hours, joking around and eating delicious food the house elves made for them. They sat there until it started getting dark.
"Look over there!" Hermione told the rest just as they started to pack their things. She pointed to the place a few meters from them. There it was, the little glowing thing flying towards them. They could distinguish a tiny human-like form with little wings as it came closer. It flew even closer to them until it sat on Harry's shoulder.
"It's a fairy!" Ginny informed them excitedly, "When I was little, my mum used to tell me stories about them! She said they are very powerful and can make one's wish come true if they think they're worthy!"
"Ginny, as much as I don't want to crush your childhood memories, I really doubt that they can make dreams come true. There are no reliable sources confirming your thesis. I would appreciate it if you would base what you say on facts, not fairytales."
"Have you ever taken something on easy, Hermione? I swear you act so stiff all the time!"
Hermione huffed, "I am not stiff."
"Sure. When were you last time when me and Harry had been in the kitchen?"
"I was at the library studying for the exam! Honestly, being responsible is not the same as being stiff!"
"You were studying the whole week. Surely two hours away from your books wouldn't make much difference."
Hermione pursed her lips and acted offended at how Ginny dared to claim she could go away from books.
Ginny didn't ponder about Hermione even one second longer. Instead, she turned to Harry, "Let's see who's right. Make a wish, Harry! She clearly found you worthy! Think of something you most desire!"
Harry looked down at his shoulder where a fairy was sitting. What a wish he could make? His mind went to Christmas in his first year, just after he got his invisibility cloak. That night he found the Mirror of Erised which showed him his most desperate desire.
He suddenly got very excited at the prospect of meeting his parents. He slammed his eyes shut and thought how much he wanted that to happen. If only that came true, he would never again ask for anything else.
The fairy looked at Harry more closely as if she was judging him. After a while, she seemed to like what she found. One of her hands touched Harry's temple and they started to glow golden.
A bright flash blinded his two friends and girlfriend. When they regained vision, there was no trace of Harry or the fairy, only a few golden sparks were where they were last seen.
Harry woke up a while later in a place that seemed almost the same as where he was before the strange accident. His head hurt a little which didn't help a bit with his confusion.
He was alone. What happened to Hermione, Ron and Ginny? They wouldn't leave him in this state like that. He also noticed a difference in time; it was now an early morning instead of evening.
With a groan, he got up from the ground and went to the castle. Another strange thing he noticed, the hourglasses in the entrance hall were showing different amounts of points than when he checked yesterday. It wouldn't be a concern if it was a small difference, but actually it was huge. Also, the few people he met he didn't recognise.
Harry came to the conclusion that something very weird was happening. Without much thought, he broke into a run to the headmaster's office. He barged in and the first thing he noticed was that Dumbledore looked slightly younger, if it was even possible.
"Ah, Mister Potter, I was hoping to see you," Dumbledore said calmly, "A word came to me that you and Mister Black… you are not James Potter."
"Err, professor, why would I be my father?" Harry asked confused.
"Your… father?" Asked the old Headmaster with an interest.
"Yes?"
"What is your name, young man?"
"What do you mean headmaster? You have known me for five years!"
"I must insist you answer my question," Dumbledore said calmly, but it held underlined firmness. Harry recognised this voice as the one he used in the Wizengamot last summer, during his trial.
Automatically, the boy complied under the power behind his mentor's voice, "I'm Harry… What's happening, professor? Since I woke up this morning everything is somewhat… odd."
Dumbledore hummed thoughtfully. He looked at him closely with his piercing blue eyes. "You say your father is James Potter?" At Harry's nod, he smiled a little and continued, "May I ask who's your mother, then?" He asked, and, judging by the look in his eyes he already knew it.
"Lily Evans."
"Ah," Dumbledore smiled mysteriously, "interesting… very interesting. I must agree, that they would certainly make the most interesting of couples."
Harry nodded absently the whole time, "Of course, but Headmaster, you still didn't answer- wait, did you just say that they would?"
Dumbledore chuckled, "Yes, my boy, I have the perfect evidence of that before my eyes, despite the two of them together seems quite impossible. Tell me Harry, what year was when you last checked?"
"Err, 1995."
"You, see, we have 1975 right now," Dumbledore said and Harry turned white pale, "It seems that you have travelled back in time. I find that rather intriguing given that there is no possibility to travel days, not to mention years. How did you accomplish this?"
"I've met a fairy and-
"Ah, a fairy. Now when I think of it, it is possible. Fairies are known for their eerie powers."
Harry smiled despite himself, "Yes, my girlfriend mentioned that."
"You have a girlfriend?" Headmaster asked interested, "If you don't mind me asking, what is her name?"
"Ginny Weasley sir. Well, Ginevra, but she doesn't like this name very much."
"A female Weasley, "Dumbledore said impressed, "I see that we have an interesting future ahead of us."
"You don't even have an idea, sir."
"Anyway, Harry, I would have loved to tell you that I know a way for you to come back to your time, but unfortunately it would be a lie. However, I will do everything in my might to help you."
"I understand, sir," Harry said grimly. He hoped it'd be soon, he didn't fancy the idea of being not in his time.
"There is also the aspect of your education. It's very important for you to continue your studies. Unfortunately, we do not have enough teachers here at Hogwarts to provide you with individual teaching. I suggest you change your name for the time being and join your respective house. What year are you in?"
"Fifth year Gryffindor, sir. But it wouldn't be dangerous for me to attend classes? My friend once told me that horrible things happen to someone who meddles with time."
Dumbledore smiled at Harry approvingly, there was definitely Lily in him outside of the boy's eyes, "It would be if you were running around telling everyone who and from when are you. I doubt you would do that. Now, what do we do with your name?"
Harry thought for a while, "I would like to keep my first name if it's not a problem."
"Of course, my boy. What about your last name?"
For a short time, Harry considered Longbottom would do, but then he wasn't sure if Nevill's parents were still at Hogwarts. "Would Shunpike be decent enough?"
"Perfectly!" Dumbledore said looking at his pocket watch, "It's almost time for breakfast. I believe an introduction is in order!"
"But sir, don't I need to change my appearance as well?"
"I don't think that would be necessary, my boy," Dumbledore grinned and Harry didn't like that one bit.
A/N: Hi! Thanks for reading! I'm not going to post any chapters of this story for the time being as I have to finish the other one first.
