Hey folks! You're probably wondering why the heck I went ahead and started this adaptation in the first place, especially with a series as well-known as One Piece. Even though I'm a huge fan of the series and the things it has brought forth in recent years, it's also the series I should've waited to work with more when it came to things like "Omni Force: WAR". I've heard a lot of comments from people who've said that story could've had more potential if I had done things differently or made it an adaptation of sorts. And I agree!
Adaptations seem to be one of the things I'm best at on FanFiction. That's not to push aside my original works, because I think those have done well in their own rights in different ways. I just feel more at ease with something like this.
Anyways, a couple years ago, I got the chance to see One Piece: Film Red in theaters. It was the first film of the series I saw in full, and I really loved it. The biggest sell for me was the music throughout, which was phenomenally done by Ado. But even more than that, I loved Uta as a character. And it got me thinking… what would her interactions with other members of the Omni Force be like? Particularly, those that were associated with Luffy?
And so, the idea stuck for a while. If you've been following me, you may have noticed that this story is actually coming earlier than initially anticipated. That's because I really want to work on it before I move on to the next big thing. And I'll tell you right now, Uta's going to play a big, BIG part in the series going forward from this story. You'll see what I mean in due time, I promise.
But for now, it's time to face the music and reach out for a new genesis! This is "Omni Force: RED"!
OMNI FORCE
RED
This is the time known as the Great Pirate Era. In pursuit of wealth, fame, and power, countless souls are driven to the seas. For those who long for adventure, it is a dream come true.
But there are some among them who seek only to plunder, leaving an endless trail of chaos and destruction in their wake. For the powerless, it is an age of oppression. For the strong may prey on the weak at any moment.
The Navy under the World Government seeks to stem the tide of piracy. But even they cannot help everyone. So in their moment of need, who can the oppressed turn to? Who has the strength to answer their prayers for salvation?
"I don't know if we can make it…"
"No one's looking out for folks like us… It's just gonna keep getting worse…"
"Ah… seems like I'm crying everyday…"
"The Navy's useless… They can't protect us… And now we're gonna starve…"
"It's like they don't even care if we die…"
"No point in blaming them for it. The pirates are the ones who took our stuff away, ya know…"
"Those jerks! I hate them!"
"Why do they have to be so greedy?!"
"All they ever do is make people suffer!"
"Does anyone even care what happens to us?!"
"Please… I can't live like this anymore…!"
"You're the only one who understands! You have to help us!"
"I'm begging…"
"We believe in you…"
"Help us…"
"You can fix this!"
"You have to!"
All of those messages played on screens for a single young woman to see, as she munched on what appeared to be a mushroom with a pair of small bumps upon it.
"I know… I hear you…" she said, trekking down a long hallway that led to the light outside, "That's why I'm bringing this world into a new age," she declared, "One where you can all be happy," she added firmly. Outside, crowds of people were gathered in a rather fog-filled area, filing into a venue as they had their colorful tickets checked, each reading 'NEW GENESIS' upon them. So many had already entered, murmuring excitedly amongst themselves.
Balloons were floating about as water flowed into the concert hall. It was roughly oval in shape, with several rock formations in the middle of the water, which came from the sea on one end. The other end of the venue had a circular mainstage. It was open aired, but had several rock formations that arched over the stadium. Upon one of the larger rock formations, a hunk of meat was being cooked over a grill with a grinning Monkey D. Luffy watching over it, clapping the tongs in his hand as he was excited to eventually eat it.
"Gotta say, that's one hell of a crowd…" a radio-like dressed Franky remarked as he walked by behind his captain.
"Uta's never done a show in person before, so this is kind of a big deal," Nami noted while trotting over.
"Her songs on the transponder make me wanna rock'n'roll all night~!" Usopp sang out while waving a pink banner in his grasp.
"And did you see that stage?!" Chopper exclaimed with tears of excitement flowing down his face, having glow sticks wrapped around his front hooves and his apple-like hat as he waved them about, "I know I'm gonna freak out when she shows up! I can't… WAIIIIITTTTT!" he screamed happily.
"Never figured concerts were big in this here world…" a country-accented voice chimed in, getting their attentions as they turned to see Applejack seated nearby, tuning a wooden guitar in her grasp.
"Given that there're musicians, it only figures…" another voice retorted, belonging to Kyoya Tategami beside her. She gave off an annoyed huff to him. "What? I'm right, aren't I?" he questioned.
"Either way, it's pretty exciting," Sting Eucliffe noted as he looked out over the edge of the rock formation they were upon, "So many people here for one big show," he added. Hopping up beside him was his Exceed, Lector.
"And I hear this Uta's a superstar when it comes to singing!" he mentioned excitedly.
"That's only word of mouth we got from everyone else," Rogue Cheney chimed in, being leaned up against the rocks surrounding the formation with his hair in a ponytail, "We don't know for sure if she's as good as they say," he pointed out.
"Fro thinks she is!" Frosch chimed in happily beside him, raising his costumed paws. Meanwhile, the likes of Sakura Haruno and Star Butterfly took notice of figures swimming about in the water.
"Wow, would you look at that…" the former of the two remarked, while the latter beamed excitedly.
"It appears this Uta's popularity has spread to merfolk as well…" Jimbei chimed in beside them, "But remind me…" he continued as he pulled uncomfortably at the rather flashy outfit he was wearing, "why are we all dressed up like this?" he questioned.
"We're wearing costumes to hype up her show!" Usopp answered, "And in return, we get a set of these babies for free!" he pointed out, showing off a plethora of colorful buttons in between his fingers.
"Ooh!" Star exclaimed, zipping over and snatching one from the sniper, "Cool…!" she said slowly, while Sakura chuckled.
"Wow, looks like garbage…" Roronoa Zoro muttered out upon noticing.
"I think it's fun," the voice of Nico Robin chimed as she walked over alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Brook, having bags of supplies in hand, "And besides, who wouldn't want to support the world's number one sweetheart?" she questioned of her colleagues.
"Is this chick that big of a deal?" Franky asked upon approaching.
"I would describe her performances as an out of body experience…" the skeleton commented, "And trust me, I'm an expert," he added jokingly. Sasuke set down his bag of supplies.
"In any case, we'll be in for something nice for a change," he pointed out.
"Yeah," the voice of Alain Regulus agreed as he stretched up his arms, "I kinda wish a few others could've come for all this," he admitted, "I know Fluttershy would've loved to hear what Uta sounds like, too," he mentioned.
"She'll hear it from us," Sunset Shimmer assured, taking off her leather jacket and setting it aside as she walked forward, "We've got that tone dial to record the concert after all," she mentioned.
"Is that legal?" Star inquired with an arched eyebrow.
"You guys are pretty much pirates with us, so it doesn't really matter, I guess…" Nami pointed out, sharing a giggle with the red-and-yellow-haired woman.
"U-T-A!" Vinsmoke Sanji chanted as he posed happily, shaping his hands into a heart, "Now let's go, Uta!" he exclaimed with a twirl.
"You're pathetic…" Zoro grumbled, getting his attention as he snapped away from his happy moment.
"I'm gonna take all of your swords, shove 'em up your ass, roast you alive, and make some shish kabobs outta ya!" he threatened.
"I'd like to see ya try, curly brow!" the swordsman retorted. Just then, the area darkened, causing them to perk up in surprise.
"Looks like it's starting," Sakura pointed out.
"Hoo boy…" Applejack exhaled, "Wonder what kinda show we're in for," she said curiously.
"Oh, it's time for the rocking!" Usopp exclaimed as he and Chopper went over to the edge of the rock formation closest to the mainstage, "Hey, Luffy!" he called out to his captain, who was ripping off a piece of his cooked meat to eat, "Pay attention!" he insisted of him.
"Hm?" he uttered as he chewed his food.

If I change the world~…
"Wow…" Sunset uttered upon hearing the angelic voice echoing out, "Sounds like a good show already," she remarked with a smile. The fog started to clear as everyone watched on. Up on the mainstage, the lights flashed on as the idol standing upon it raised her right pointer finger to the sky. The crowd cheered excitedly as the orchestra began playing. Everyone marveled the sight of the performer.
She was a young woman of medium height with long hair that was white on her left side and red on her right; the colors were perfectly separated at the middle of her scalp. Her hair was arranged into two long ponytails with two circular braids at the end; these circular braids were also seen at the top of her head. Her left eye was shrouded by her white hair, with both of them being bright purple.
She wore a short white dress ending at her upper thighs; the dress possessed a frilly neckline and a black bow and buttons down the middle. On her left arm, she donned a light blue sleeve that covered the entire arm with a strange drawing that had 'UTA' written in it. Additionally, she wore a set of golden cone-shaped headphones with light-blue bands over her ears. She was also wearing a multi-colored jacket with numerous designs scattered on it, including a logo of herself on the back. She danced to the rhythm of the beat as the stage lights and lasers flashed around her.

As the chorus ended, the sun shone brightly over the stadium as a giant birdcage of light opened up over everyone, releasing spheres of luminosity that each had a pink and a white wing, flying out towards the many spectators around the concert hall. One floated out before a girl with a hairstyle that seemed to be an homage to Uta. The sphere itself showed her a closer look at the singing idol, who danced as she echoed to the beat of the music provided by her band.

A new genesis~!
With the song winding down, Uta pointed about to the rest of the crowd, all with a smile on her face.
A new genesis~!
The audience cheered happily for the diva as she finished. Her mic disappeared from her headphones before she hopped down from the mainstage onto the catwalk. The applause from her fans filled her ears as her smile grew brightly.
"Hey guys! Nice to meet you!" she greeted, her voice projecting across the stadium, "Finally!" she added happily. Everyone cheered, including those of the Straw Hats and the Omni Force. Sunset clapped her hands in applause, but then noticed the look of slight surprise upon Luffy's face. He seemed to be staring curiously out at Uta, almost as if he was recognizing her…
"Luffy, you okay?" the red-and-yellow-haired girl asked, only for the Gum-Gum user to suddenly shove his grilled meat into her hands.
"Can you hold that for me for a bit, Sunset? Thanks!" he requested to her surprise, jogging off.
"Hey, Luffy!" she cried out, wondering what was going on. Meanwhile, Uta was starting to get emotional from all the applause, as tears were pricking her eyes.
"Sorry…" she apologized, wiping her eyes as she held her right hand out, "This is a lot at once…" she admitted. The audience kept cheering, while the arches around the stadium started to fold back down. Where excitement was abound there upon the island, the rest of it was quiet with only one man watching the concert unfold from an old castle in the distance.
He was a tall man with broad shoulders and thin limbs. He had a double chin, and his head was slightly elongated with a scar running across his forehead. The skin on the left side of the scar was of a different color. His head was bald on top, but long gray hair grew on the sides, and he had sideburns. He wore sunglasses and what appeared to be headphones. His attire consisted of a dull green double-breasted coat with buttons, a frilled white dress shirt and cravat, slim gray pants and leather shoes. He also had a rosary bead with a purple tassel at the hem of his coat. The sight of the concert afar made him grimace and tremble a little.
X
"Okay, we ready to have some fun?!" Uta's voice echoed out from the stadium as a plethora of balloons floated up into the air. Many of the fans were cheering. But some had other plans in mind…
"This is our chance to move in, boys…" one man said with a smirk upon his face. He was an average-sized man with blonde hair that covered one side of his face. He had black tentacle-like tattoos on his forehead, left chest, and left arm. He wore a blue unbuttoned shirt, a purple cape with spiked shoulder pieces, and light blue pants with a belt and a yellow draped garment over them. The yellow garment also had yellow tentacle-like decorations hanging from it and a black logo of a jellyfish. On his head, he wore a magenta headband that read 'UTA', much like the pair of men beside him.
"Aw yeah…" one of them agreed.
"Like you said, she's wide open," the other added, "All we gotta do is swoop in and swoop out, and we're set for life," he noted out, "Ain't your lucky day, Uta…" he remarked as the diva was waving to the crowd.
"U-T-A! U-T-A! U-T-A!" they chanted. As they did, a certain arm stretched out from below, latching onto one of the arches. It originated from Luffy, who held onto his straw hat as he swung off of the rock formation he and his friends were upon.
"Hey, Luffy!" Usopp yelled out.
"Oh jeez…" Sunset muttered, handing the slab of meat in her hands off to Sting before jogging forward herself, letting a flash of light envelop her body. Her skin turned amber as she gained a longer ponytail, a pair of pony ears, and golden energy wings that appeared behind her back. She flew after the Gum-Gum user, who had just landed onto the stage in front of a surprised Uta.
"Wait, don't tell me that little bastard beat us to the punch…" the blonde-haired man amongst the crowd muttered. Sunset came down onto the stage as well, noticing the grin on Luffy's face.
"Aha!" he exclaimed, "So it is you!" he concluded. Uta tilted her head in confusion and concern, as the curled braids at the top of her head drooped. "Uta! Been a while, huh?" the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates remarked.
"Huh?" the diva uttered, completely perplexed.
"Come on, look! It's me!" the Gum-Gum user exclaimed with outstretched arms.
"I don't…" Uta started to reply, only to slightly widen her eyes as her curled braids perked up, "Wait, it can't be…" she said, "Luffy?!" she yelped in shock, making him chuckle.
"There you go!" he remarked, "It's good to see ya!" he mentioned.
"Wait… you two know each other?" Sunset inquired out of surprise.
"Luffy!" Uta exclaimed with tears of happiness pricking her eyes, skipping forward before hugging the Gum-Gum user. Needless to say, everyone was shocked, especially those of his own crew.
"HUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!" Chopper shrieked out upon seeing his captain embrace the diva. Meanwhile, Sanji winced with envy.
"They… know each other…" Sakura noted aloud.
"Yeah…" Nami said, quite surprised by the revelation herself. They watched as Uta and Luffy hopped back from each other, laughing all the while. In the process, the latter's hat had flown off of his head, but it floated right back down onto it. The diva noticed it though, giving off a look of surprise.
"Wait, look at his hat!" one of the audience members called out.
"It can't be… the Fifth Emperor?!" another man exclaimed in shock.
"No way!" a woman shouted, "Uta wouldn't be pals with a pirate!" she proclaimed.
"Oh boy…" Sunset uttered with a grimace.
"That's quite the surprise…" Robin commented from the rock formation as she and the others walked over to the edge, "Seems like they're friends," she pointed out.
"Dammit, no fair!" Sanji yelled angrily, "At least introduce us!" he insisted of his captain.
"Since when are you so chummy with Princess Uta?!" Usopp shouted in question.
"Yeah, tell us!" Chopper demanded as he hopped atop the sniper's head.
"Since forever, pretty much," Luffy answered, "Uta is Shanks' daughter!" he mentioned, causing the idol in question to blink in surprise.
"Wait, what?!" Sunset exclaimed out of shock. It was so silent afterward that everyone could hear a fish splashing in the water. And then…
"HUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!" many yelled in disbelief. The blonde-haired man in the crowd was one of them, but he then grinned deviously, putting a magenta bicorne atop his head with a jolly roger that had tentacles underneath the skull. He chuckled.
"Shanks the pirate…?" one fan in the crowd inquired.
"Not just any pirate," a boy chimed in, "but one of the Four Emperors!" he pointed out.
"I'll never forget that name…" one woman said with fear in her tone.
"He's the man who attacked Elegia all those years ago…" another man noted.
"Uta…" the little girl in the crowd from earlier uttered worriedly.
"Huh…" the diva sighed upon the stage exasperatedly, putting her left hand onto her head as she managed to smile a little. The old man in the castle kept watching on curiously.
"Oh gosh…" Sunset uttered with a wince, "We are so sorry about this…" she apologized emphatically to Uta, "Luffy, what the heck?!" she shouted to the Gum-Gum user.
"What? It's true," he said.
"That doesn't mean you need to blurt it out for the whole world to hear!" the red-and-yellow-haired woman argued.
"Shanks is the one who inspired Luffy to become a pirate in the first place, right?" Alain inquired back upon the rock formation.
"Yeah," Zoro answered, "Though I don't remember him ever mentioning that he had a kid…" he pointed out with crossed arms.
"And this Shanks guy came here once and attacked the island?" Kyoya presumed.
"But why?" his girlfriend asked.
"So that must be why they chose Elegia as the venue," Robin assumed to their confusion, "I did think it was odd," she admitted.
"You're referring to the old legend, right?" Brook guessed.
"What old legend?" Applejack inquired, arching an eyebrow. Before Robin could answer, a gunshot went off, causing them to whip around to see several men storming the stage, surrounding the trio of Luffy, Sunset, and Uta while chuckling.
"You guys part of the show, too?" the Gum-Gum user assumed.
"I don't think so…" Sunset concluded, taking on a ready stance.
"So Red-Haired Shanks had a daughter all this time and no one knew…" one of the men noted.
"And if he's got a kid, he's got a weakness…" another added.
"This is getting good…" one other remarked.
"We're not crazy enough to take him on, but some other bigshot'll jump at the chance…" another of the pirate group mentioned.
"You might wanna think twice about that…" Sunset advised, narrowing her eyes while clenching her fists.
"Oh, you think you can scare us, missy?" one of the pirates in a cap inquired, "All we gotta do is take Uta, offer her up, and get paid while letting whoever's brave enough to take Shanks on," he listed off, "You ain't stoppin' us," he proclaimed.
"Mmm… I think I can," Sunset assured with a smirk, disappearing in a flash of amber light.
"Huh?! What the…?!" the capped pirate gasped out. His head was suddenly met with a roundhouse kick from behind by the Equestrian Magic user, knocking him down onto the stage floor. Two other pirates tried to slash at her with their swords, but she vanished again before they could reach. They then found themselves cloaked in a reddish, sparkling aura before getting flung telekinetically off of the stage in yelps.
"Huh…" Sunset exhaled, followed by narrowly ducking from a sword swipe, "Uh, Luffy?!" she yelled, "Little help here!" she called out. As the man attacking her was about to swing his blade at her again, he suddenly found that his arm was ensnared by none other than the Gum-Gum user's stretched out right hand.
"Sorry 'bout that," he apologized, letting off a toothy smirk as he clenched his left fist, "Gum-Gum Pistol!" he roared, shooting over and landing a fierce punch to the man's back, sending him flying before he crashed into the water. Uta blinked in surprise, as did the other pirates.
"It is him…!" Eboshi realized, letting off a grimace, "Dammit…" he cursed.
"How're we supposed to get to Uta if the Fifth Emperor's already here after her?" Hanagasa asked. Both Luffy and Sunset stood back-to-back, ready to take on the rest of the Jellyfish Pirates. At that moment though, the Equestrian Magic user felt her pony ears perk up slightly.
"Heat Beating!" a voice yelled from above, causing everyone to look and see a figure zooming down, slamming into the stage with a rush of smoke to follow as several more pirates were blasted away.
"Whoa!" Sunset yelped as she and Luffy braced themselves, with the latter holding onto his straw hat, "I think we know that voice…" the former noted as she peeked her eyes open. The smoke settled, revealing that it was an extremely large and muscular man. He had a very thick neck, and hair that was arranged into three curved sections, as well as a short, spiky beard. His hair color was a gradient that resembled something being baked, starting out blond and turning into a dark orange, and his skin had a light pink tint. He wore a high-collared orange cape which tied in the front in a yellow bow, short gloves, a thick belt with a circular buckle, capris, striped socks, and loafers.
He held up a mirror, from which emerged another figure. It was an extremely tall, slightly hunched, and gray-skinned woman with a well-endowed yet thin figure, which made her limbs appear to be exceptionally long. She stood at roughly twice Sunset's height, with her legs alone being noticeably longer than said woman was overall. She also had very long, gnarled fingers with overlong, sharp nails painted blue. The woman's face had very striking, hag-like features. Her droopy eyes had yellow irises and long lashes, and were topped by viridian eye shadow and black, high-arched eyebrows. She had a huge and over-projected, reddish hook nose, a large mouth with purple lipstick that was seen devilishly smiling as she laughed, a square jaw, and a brown, sharp-cornered scar stretching diagonally down her face from right to left. Her hair was lavender and divided into two side locks that cascaded over her breasts, as well as four other, similarly long, and sharp, lock-like segments that stick to the sides, slightly curved upward.
She took to wearing a whitish, creased gown. Its main upper section had a frilly scoop neckline, loose, flaring sleeves that were tattered at the edges, and stopped quite below the waist in a frilled hemline. The lower, seemingly separate part of the dress, which began under the upper one, fell to the ground. Her clothing was completed by a feathered, sleeveless overcoat in moss green color.
"Why don't we just cut the middleman and take the girl now?" she remarked in question.
"Oh great, it's you…" Sunset muttered out.
"Yeah… Branch!" Luffy recalled.
"Uh, say what?" Uta chimed in, confused by the supposed name.
"I'm Brûlée from the Big Mom Pirates, you little twit!" the Mirror-Mirror user shouted out.
"Oh… and who's the other guy?" the diva inquired curiously.
"My name is Charlotte Oven, and I'm the fourth son of Big Mom," the large, muscular man answered, "You know, this is quite the show…" he admitted, "I'm glad we came," he added with a grin.
"Yes, in more ways than one," his sister chimed in, forming a mirror-like portal in between her hands that several pirates jumped out from, "since I didn't expect such a profitable revelation!" she remarked.
"Wow…" Sunset uttered sarcastically, rolling her eyes, "Sad to see that your big sister and big brother couldn't make it," she noted to the pair of Big Mom Pirates, causing them to perk up in surprise, "They still sore from us kicking their asses?" she presumed, making them growl angrily. However, Brûlée huffed.
"Uta, sorry to spoil your little concert," she apologized to the diva as she took a cautious step back, "but you're Mama's property now," she declared.
"And what makes you think we're gonna let you waltz on outta here with her?" the Equestrian Magic user inquired back.
"'Cause no way in hell are you punk kids strong enough to take on the Big Mom Pirates!" Oven proclaimed in response, laughing along with his colleagues and Brûlée. From within the crowd, a blonde-haired man with an odd-looking black visor over his eyes stood up, prepared to intervene.
"Not yet," a voice beside him chimed in, causing him to stop as he turned to the person beside him, "They've got this," he assured.
"CHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Sakura roared as she lunged over and slammed her right fist against one of the Big Mom Pirates, sending him flying into three others.
"Sakura!" Sunset exclaimed with a smile, earning a grin back from the kunoichi.
"Back off!" Sanji yelled from afar as he leapt onto one of the rock formations closer to the stage, "Nobody's laying a finger on Uta! Not on my watch!" he declared.
"You mean our watch," Alain corrected as he hopped over, readying a Poké Ball in his right hand, "We need to help Sunset and Luffy, too," he mentioned.
"For a musician, the stage is a sacred place," Brook chimed in while landing upon the mainstage, twirling his cane around as he was prepared to draw his blade from it, "I will not let you defile it…" he declared firmly.
"I'll be damned!" Zoro yelled as he shot past the skeleton alongside Kyoya, having two of his swords drawn, while the beyblader was prepping Fang Leone upon his beylauncher, "Guess this is my kinda show after all!" he remarked, lunging towards the group upon the mainstage.
"The Jellyfish Pirates won't lose that easy!" Eboshi proclaimed as he swung his sword, unleashing a blast of purple energy toward the swordsman. However, he easily countered it, followed by slashing at the pirate captain to send him flying as his blade shattered.
"Song of Scratches…" Brook began as he sped past several of the Jellyfish Pirates before they could react, leaving a chilling air in his wake, "Blizzard Slice!" he exclaimed as he sheathed his blade, with the pirates behind him suddenly going flying with ice coating their bodies.
"Let it… RIP!" Kyoya yelled while pulling on the ripcord, launching his beyblade out at the Big Mom Pirates. It generated a powerful torrent of wind, sweeping many of them off of their feet as they found themselves caught up in the vortex before being sent flying all across the stadium.
"Kraken Fist!" Hanagasa yelled, throwing out a series of punches towards Sanji. He was weaving around them with ease, heating up his left leg from spinning as it burned a bright orange. In a yell, he swung around and kicked his foe away instantly.
"Charizard, Dragon Claw!" Alain commanded of the Flame Pokémon he had brought forth. He made a green, clawed-shaped aura appear over his hands as he flew down toward Oven, who cracked a grin.
"Heat Beating!" he yelled, having heated up his right forearm before thrusting it out to counter Charizard's attempted swipe, blowing him back as he landed and slid to a stop at the edge of the stage, "Ha!" the Heat-Heat user laughed, "Is that all you've got?!" he inquired mockingly.
"Of course not!" Alain declared, tapping the Key Stone upon his Mega Ring, "Respond to our hearts, Key Stone!" he echoed, causing golden streaks of light to emerge from it, "Beyond evolution… Mega Evolve!" he roared. Streaks of blue light emerged from the Charizardite X upon his partner's collar. They connected with those of his trainer, flashing a bright white. After a few moments, the Flame Pokémon found himself enveloped in a multicolored light.
His body became more physically fit, though his arms remain thin. His skin turned black with a sky-blue underside and soles. Two spikes with blue tips curved upward from the front and back of each shoulder, while the tips of his horns sharpened, turning blue, and curving slightly upward. His brow and claws were larger, and his eyes were now red. He had two small, fin-like spikes under each horn and two more down his lower neck. The finger disappeared from the wing membrane, and the lower edges were divided into large, rounded points. The third joint of each wing-arm was adorned with a claw-like spike. He breathed blue flames out the sides of his mouth, and the flame on his tail now burned blue.
"RRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!" the Mega Evolved Flame Pokémon bellowed mightily. Oven's eyes were shaking in shock.
"Flamethrower!" Alain ordered. His partner reared his head back, spewing out a powerful stream of blue flames toward the Heat-Heat user. He quickly threw out his hands to block the attack, grimacing from the intense firepower being thrust upon him.
"Guess we're doin' this!" Nami concluded as she and Star were running out towards the stage.
"Let's wrap this up quick so Uta can get back to singing!" Chopper insisted.
"Protect the singing lady, no problemo!" Franky confirmed as he dashed past them with Sting and Rogue.
"White Dragon Iron Fist!" the Sabertooth guildmaster roared as he cloaked his right fist in a bright luminosity, slamming it into the face of one of the Jellyfish Pirates.
"Shadow Dragon Waxwing Flash!" his fellow Dragon Slayer bellowed, turning his body into shadows that wrapped around and bombarded several of the Big Mom Pirates with torrents of feather-like blades that emerged from the glooms. In the meantime, Jimbei was surfing onto the scene aboard a wave of water in the shape of a large fish.
"Fishman Karate… Spear Wave!" he yelled, heaving a spear-shaped burst of water toward Oven, who was already preoccupied with Charizard. He managed to throw his left hand out to block the incoming burst as steam erupted around him and the others upon the stage.
"Hm," Jimbei huffed. Franky lunged toward their enemy.
"I hope you're ready for a super steamy smackdown!" he yelled, rearing his right fist back. He had it collide against the enflamed right fist of the Heat-Heat user, being at a deadlock with him.
"Gum-Gum…" Luffy began as he leapt into the air, having his skin turn pinkish as it steamed with heat, "Jet Gatling!" he exclaimed, thrusting his fists down rapidly again and again, striking down several of the enemy pirates upon the stage, sending them flying.
"Cien Fleur…" Robin began as she crossed her arms over her chest, sprouting forth about a hundred arms behind herself, which were arranged together like a net, "Spider Net!" she exclaimed, while several of pirates were caught in her makeshift web.
"Raspberry Ribbon Lasso!" Star yelled, forming a pair of ribbons made up of light from her own hands as they wrapped around a half-dozen pirates, whom she quickly flung away into Robin's makeshift net.
"Aw yeah, these guys are nothing!" Usopp exclaimed confidently. However, he blinked upon realizing that one person in particular had yet to join the battle, being Sasuke. "Hey, what're you just sitting around for?!" he questioned angrily as he glanced back to see him still upon the rock formation.
"You said yourself you have this handled," the shinobi responded, "Besides, I don't think you needed to intervene at all," he mentioned to the sniper's surprise.
"Cherry Blossom Clash!" Sakura roared as she punched away several more of the Jellyfish Pirates. Meanwhile, Sunset was weaving her way around others as she flew about the stage, closing in on Brûlée. The Mirror-Mirror user gasped to see her coming.
"Okay, that's enough!" Uta suddenly yelled out with her right arm raised, causing everyone fighting upon the mainstage to stop, "It's nice to meet all your friends, Luffy. Thanks for the help!" she exclaimed gratefully to the Gum-Gum user, "But no more roughhousing, please…" she requested.
"Roughhousing?" Oven repeated in confusion.
"All of you are my fans, right?" Uta presumed, "So you should get along and enjoy the show!" she insisted.
"Uh, hold on a sec…" Sting chimed in, getting her attention, "I'm pretty sure these guys aren't fans, especially if they're here to kidnap you…" he pointed out.
"And they look like the type who won't take no for an answer…!" Franky grunted out while trying to push back against Oven.
"Because we're pirates!" his foe shouted back before getting knocked aside from a powerful kick from Applejack, who had gained pony ears and a long ponytail of her own.
"And pirates like y'all take whatever or whoever ya want, right?" she assumed, cracking her knuckles.
"Even if we have to beat it outta you!" Oven roared in response, lunging out at her. Sakura leapt over and countered his attempted punch with her own, grimacing from the intense heat his fist was exuding.
"Then quit being pirates, you doofs!" Uta advised, "I'll forgive all the bad stuff you've done if you stop right now," she assured to them.
"Uh, Uta?" Sunset said, trying to get her attention.
"Come on, give up all that nasty business and join up with me," she insisted of the unruly pirates while looking towards her band, "We're making a better world with none of the cruelty and violence," she affirmed, "My music will set you free, then we'll all live happily in peace!" she declared. Sunset felt herself grimace and inwardly shudder with embarrassment, having remembered witnessing such a similar declaration a few years ago. It didn't help that the Jellyfish and Big Mom Pirates started laughing at the diva's expense.
"Peace is a stupid dream…" Oven muttered as he approached.
"Now why don't you shut your pretty little trap before I slice it up…" Brûlée threatened.
"Hey, I called her first!" Eboshi shouted, holding his sword to Uta's throat. However, he was quickly kicked away by Sunset as she teleported over in a flash of light.
"None of you are taking her, got it?!" she yelled out. Just then, the diva put a hand onto her shoulder.
"I got this," she assured to her surprise, seeing her walk over to the captain of the Jellyfish Pirates, "I thought you all came to enjoy my singing, not stop the whole show…" she noted aloud.
"Heh," Eboshi chuckled, "Sorry babe, we're pirates," he pointed out, "Money and power speak louder than music to guys like us," he mentioned on.
"This is awful!" one woman in the crowd exclaimed in dismay.
"They're ruining the concert…" another man added out of frustration.
"Those damn pirates don't care about anyone but themselves!" someone else shouted.
"Milady, I think we oughta' wrap this up quick," Sting advised of Sunset, getting her attention.
"Yeah, I hear ya," she responded with a nod, "Let Alain and Charizard deal with the walking furnace," she instructed, "You take Brûlée, and the rest of us'll—"
"What a shame…" Uta sighed out, interjecting the red-and-yellow-haired woman, who blinked in surprise upon overhearing, "In that case, I'll make a song out of you," she decided.
"Eh?" Brûlée uttered in confusion.
"A song?" Sting repeated as he blinked. All of a sudden, the lights on the stage dimmed. Sunset noticed the small smile crossing Uta's face, as if she wasn't worried in the slightest. A microphone materialized from her left headphone.
Now, let worry fall away~…
No fear allowed to stay~…
My wish is now your dream~…
And my hope never-ending~…
When clouds build up inside~…
My song can clear the sky~…
You know I'm invincible~…!
Everything is alright~!
As the diva began singing, several lights and seemingly special effects appeared out of thin air, much to everyone's surprise. Sunset watched as Uta manifested golden gauntlets over her arms and golden boots upon her feet, donning a crown and a red-feathered coat with a gold jetpack. She completed her new ensemble with a shield that had her insignia upon it, and a gold lance.
As she completed the last note of her first verse, a shockwave erupted, blowing away all of the enemy pirates instantly. She rocketed off into the air thanks to her jetpack, leaving a trail in her wake that resembled the keyboard of the piano. Everyone was amazed, while Luffy laughed.
My voice carries birds in flight~…
With every note, they go higher and higher~…!
See how I move with such grace~…
Just like a dancer on the stage~…!
Your voice carries life within~…!
Calls me to action again and again~…
If you're hurt and you need me~…!
I'll always be there, I swear~!
I'll always protect you~!
The pirates tried to all lunge at Uta, but she manifested a shield around herself, blocking their attacks before blowing them away again with ease. Luffy then took notice of the fact that Oven was running along the keyboard trail, jumping down toward the diva below with his right fist at the ready as he roared. The Gum-Gum user lunged out at him, ready to defend his friend. But he didn't need to.
Uta held up her lance, shooting up a sphere of blue light that exploded between the pair of pirates, knocking them away from each other in yelps. Sunset blinked in astonishment, watching the diva do away with her weapons as a semi-transparent aura shrouded her gauntleted hands. Lines in the shape of a musical staff emerged from them as she spun around elegantly. They wrapped around the likes of Oven, who grunted against them. It wasn't long before musical lines ensnared the remaining Jellyfish and Big Mom Pirates as well, all while the Straw Hats and those of the Omni Force watched on out of awe.
We'll have a chance to go to brand new heights~…
You and I, unstoppable when we're together~…!
We can have it all~…!
A fire burns within our hearts~!
As the entrapped enemy pirates were sent upward, the arches of the stadium exploded open with a burst of bright gold light. Uta flew about the venue, reaching out to her many fans in the massive crowd while soaring by and singing along. Those ensnared were then put upon a makeshift musical staff that she sat upon. Her captives found themselves unable to move, arranged as if they were notes upon the staff.
Now, let us go hand in hand~…!
To a life that lies ahead~…
All of our hopes and dreams~…
Can bring happiness when we're in sync~!
I've always felt this warmth from you~…
No one gives affection like you do~…!
You make me invincible~…!
When you're here by my side~…!
Strong with you by my side~!
Landing back upon the mainstage and reclaiming the weapons she'd withdrawn, Uta finished her song with aplomb. The Straw Hats and those of the Omni Force were delighted. Back upon the rock formation, Lector and Frosch's eyes were sparkling at how incredibly the diva was able to best everyone by herself. Meanwhile, Sasuke narrowed his eyes.
"There's nothing to worry about, you guys!" Uta assured to her fans, "I made those scary pirates into a fun little song!" she pointed out, "They can't hurt me and they won't hurt you either, I promise!" she affirmed, earning a round of applause from the entire crowd.
"Take that, pirates!" the messy green-haired boy from earlier yelled out happily while jumping up and down in glee, "Uta is nothing like Shanks, even if they are family!" he added firmly. Everyone was admittedly amazed.
"Can't say I was expecting all that…" Sakura admitted as she walked over, letting out a wince.
"Whoa, you okay?" Star asked upon overhearing.
"Yeah, I'll be fine…" the kunoichi assured, expelling a greenish, healing aura onto her right hand, which had a significant burn upon it, "That Oven guy just literally packs a lot of heat…" she remarked.
"You want me to take a look at that?" Chopper offered. However, before Sakura could respond, Uta flew over.
"Guess someone was bound to take some bruises from all the roughhousing," she noted with a sigh and a smile, "Don't worry, I gotcha'," she assured, having a set of small green musical notes fly out and merge with the kunoichi's right hand, healing it completely.
"Wha?!" she yelped in shock.
"That's incredible!" Star exclaimed as her eyes sparkled.
"Yeah…" Sunset agreed while letting her magic form disappear in a flash of light like Applejack, "Uh, thanks," she said gratefully to the diva, who flashed a toothy grin.
"Anything for one of Luffy's new friends!" she responded assuredly.
"She got stronger since the last time we met…" Luffy pointed out as he and the others were heading back to the rock formation where they had been based.
"Makes sense with the Devil Fruit powers, probably," Alain noted, while Charizard transformed back to normal beside him.
"What kind of Devil Fruit can do all that, though?" Kyoya wondered as Leone hopped back into the grasp of his left hand.
"Well, if they are those kinds of powers, it's news to everyone here…" Nami pointed out.
"Whoa, what's this weird spinny thing?!" Luffy inquired excitedly while looking at one of the effects upon the water that featured his longtime friend's insignia, seeing it spin and flip.
"It doesn't matter!" Usopp yelled as he went over and grabbed his captain, dragging him off, "Let's get back to our seats already!" he insisted. Star, Sakura and Sunset walked back over to join the group as the arches were coming down. The latter of the three girls looked back at Uta, who smiled and waved at them. Her armaments disappeared from her body in a flash of light before a spotlight shone down upon her.
"Listen up, 'cause I've got some great news to share with you!" she announced to the crowd, "I've had a lot of fun with my Transponder Snail shows, but they always end too soon…" she noted aloud, walking down the catwalk, "I couldn't keep it up forever, but this time is different," she affirmed, crouching down to pick up one of the snails with a conical shell and an orange body, "This concert will go on forever! It's a party that'll never stop!" she declared. The snail actually widened its eyes in shock as it gasped. "That's right, it'll be me and you together for all time!" her voice broadcasted around the world, "That goes for everyone watching the broadcast and everyone here at the venue, too!" she added, "Let's show the world how much fun we can have!" she insisted, earning delighted cheers from the audience. The entrapped pirates above grunted as they tried to free themselves from the musical staff to no avail.
"Hell yeah!" Usopp shouted from the rock formation he and his friends had returned to, "I don't know what that means, but it sure sounds awesome!" he affirmed excitedly.
"It's time to party!" Chopper yelled upon the sniper's head.
"A concert that lasts forever, huh?" Sunset said curiously as she listened to the crowd chant Uta's name, "I'm sure that's just her way of hyping everyone up…" she presumed with a shrug.
"And there's one other thing I need to say," the diva herself announced again, getting her and everyone else's attention, "This is a message to all you pirates, people from the World Government, and members of the Navy," she listed off, "Do not try to stop this concert," she advised, "My fans just wanna have fun, and they all deserve to be happy," she stated firmly, "If you ruin that for them, then I'll make you pay…" she vowed threateningly, causing the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user to blink in surprise, "I'm going to create a new era for this world, understand?" she proclaimed, "My music will bring peace to everyone!" she declared. Cheers erupted from the crowd again. The diva took a deep breath to calm herself. "Okay, next song!" she exclaimed, getting ready to continue the concert.
X
A muted broadcast of the concert was being played upon a screen projected by a Transponder Snail from a secluded room, where five men were watching the event unfold. One was a thickset, elderly man with a full white mustache and beard. He possessed white dreadlocks which he wore a flat black hat over. He had a scar on the left side of his face, stretching diagonally over his eye. His outfit consisted of a black suit over a dark purple tie and a white collared shirt, as well as black pants. He carried a walking cane.
Another was a very tall and thin, elderly man with long white hair, including a mustache and goatee which reached down to his upper chest. He wore a navy blue suit over a black tie and a white buttoned shirt, as well as navy blue pants. He was the only one standing up amongst the quintet.
One of the men sitting upon the couch to his right was a bald elderly man who had a very large white mustache as well as birthmark spots on his forehead. He wore a black suit over a black tie and a white buttoned shirt, as well as black pants. Beside him was an extremely tall man of advanced age, with a pale-grayish complexion and neither head nor facial hair. He had a wrinkled face, a hook nose, thin eyebrows, and wore round, metal-frame glasses. Clothing-wise, he donned a white, loose-fitting keikogi held closed by a golden obi, but open enough to expose his chest and abdominals, and for footwear had beige geta sandals. His personal katana was held in his right hand.
Lastly, the fifth of the group was a tan-skinned man of lean build and incredible stature. He stood out as the youngest-looking, with a full head of hair and little in the way of facial wrinkles. Said hair was blond and kept in a regular, short taper cut while linking to a full beard-and-mustache combo. For attire, he donned a plain suit jacket and pants of dark-maroon color, paired with a white, buttoned-up, tieless dress shirt that had a wingtip collar low enough to expose a scar above his chest, which reached from his lower cervical area down toward his right armpit.
"Shanks had a daughter all this time…" Jaygarcia Saturn noted aloud out of surprise.
"It seems that Cipher Pol's report was accurate," Shepherd Ju Peter pointed out, "She may be opposed to the Great Pirate Era, but she's still a threat to this world like any other foe," he explained on.
"The biggest concern is her popularity," Topman Warcury argued, "The people love her!" he emphatically noted, "We need to stomp out this fire before it becomes a full-scale rebellion…" he insisted.
"What if she has Figarland blood?" Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro inquired, "This might not be so easy…" he admitted, causing his colleagues to all turn to him in surprise.
"We must prepare in case Tot Musica returns," Marcus Mars advised. Everyone in the room stayed silent for a moment.
"Now there's a grim thought…" Ju Peter muttered out, "We can't allow it to awaken," he insisted firmly, clenching his right fist, "If that's on the table, then we must take decisive action!" he declared on. Bubbles flew up about the Marine headquarters.
"All right…" a gruff, booming voice said from a balcony, belonging to the Navy's fleet admiral, Akainu, "We just got the order to bring in Uta," he confirmed to a Transponder Snail placed on the wood railing in front of him, "That girl's a damn menace…" he grumbled.
"That little missy has quite the fanclub," a voice on the other side of the line remarked, "Must be a real charmer," he added, "Now she's got our attention, too," he mentioned on.
"Enough!" the Magma-Magma user shouted, "This isn't a joking matter," he said, "The target's on the island of music, Elegia," he told his subordinate, "the same island where Tot Musica was sealed in ancient times," he confirmed further.
"All right," another voice chimed in from the snail, "So how many are we sending?" he inquired curiously.
"Well, let me put it this way…" Akainu began to reply, "how many ships do you have ready to sail?" he questioned. Out on the open sea, several Marine ships were sailing into the distance.
"That would be thirty," the man the fleet admiral was speaking with answered.
"Good! Send them all!" he commanded, "Packed with troops and loaded for war!" he added firmly. Communications between the several ships were abuzz in preparation for their arrival upon the island of music. Aboard the leading flagship were the two admirals that Akainu had been speaking with: Kizaru and Fujitora. Both were just as ready to engage in warfare against whomever they would be up against.
"Hey guys!" Uta cried out, flying aboard a yellow musical note back at the venue, which was still buzzing with excitement from her seemingly never-ending concert, "Is anyone here getting hungry?" she inquired curiously. Several musical notes suddenly flew out towards the crowd. They then transformed into various food items, along with a multitude of other objects. "Don't worry, I'll make tons of food and some other stuff, too!" the diva declared as some of her fans went ahead and partook in taking her gifts. A large stuffed dog was provided to the little girl dressed like her, making her smile brightly as her eyes sparkled.
"It's so cute!" she exclaimed, "Can I keep it?!" she inquired excitedly.
"Of course!" Uta replied, "Everyone deserves to be happy!" she affirmed as she flew about the stadium, "I want you all to eat whatever you want whenever you want!" she added firmly, "We're gonna sing, dance, and have fun every single day!" she declared with a big smile on her face.
"It's… like a dream…" one man said as he teared up.
"There's nothing to fear anymore!" the diva assured to the crowd, "Nothing you can't do!" she mentioned on, "Stick with me, and we'll make everyone's wishes come true!" she promised as the note she rode upon spun around rapidly, "A new age is here!" she proclaimed happily, earning a rousing applause from the crowd. From below aboard the rock formation, Luffy looked up and smiled at his longtime friend. Everyone watching seemed to be enamored with her performance. Though some others had different plans in mind… Another muted broadcast was playing in a room with several unique individuals, including the likes of Big Mom.
"Hm," her eldest son, Charlotte Perospero huffed as he aimed his candy cane at the screen, "Her power's greater than expected…" he noted aloud, "Looks like we underestimated her…" he admitted.
"Mamamamama!" his mother laughed out, "Red-Haired Shanks' daughter… truly a remarkable specimen," she complimented, licking her lips, "I want her, and I want her now!" she declared firmly.
"Plus those insufferable Straw Hats will be with her, too!" Perospero mentioned, "Time to get licked..." he said ominously.
"There's also their otherworld friends, including that Sunset Shimmer…" his sister, Smoothie, chimed in as she stepped forward, "Mama, will you let me go to Elegia?" she requested of her mother.
"Oh?" she uttered in surprise, "You're not going to let getting payback get in the way of taking Red-Haired's daughter, are you?" she presumed of the Wring-Wring user, who grimaced a little.
"She won't if I go along with her," another voice chimed in, belonging to a figure with spurs on his boots that rattled as he stepped out from the shadows, being none other than Katakuri. He glanced over at the screen, which showed an image of the entrapped pirates, including his siblings. More specifically, he was looking at Brûlée. "Anyone who lays a finger on my sister will pay…" he declared firmly. Back on the island, a stew was bubbling in a large pot that was being cooked by Sanji.
"All of these rare ingredients here in a flash!" he remarked, noticing the abundant supply of meats, vegetables, and seasonings he could choose from to use in the stew.
"And it smells great!" Sakura added, "Though I doubt everyone's gonna want it…" she admitted, glancing over to Sunset and Luffy.
"Don't worry, I'm making vegetable stew, too," the cook assured, "Any vegetarian's welcome to have it," he affirmed.
"Thanks, Sanji," the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user responded gratefully, "Uta really hooked you up with all the best stuff, huh?" she presumed.
"She hooked us all up if you ask me," Zoro chimed in, getting her attention as she looked over to see him taking a swig from a bottle, "This booze she gave me is perfect!" he pointed out.
"She did say we could have anything we want, right?" Nami inquired, walking over to Sunset, "So does that mean she can give us some treasure?!" she wondered excitedly as her eyes lit up. The red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user chuckled, putting a hand onto the navigator's shoulder.
"Slow your roll, Miss Cat Burglar," she advised, "Let's not get too greedy since she's Luffy's friend," she insisted, "She's already giving us food and drinks," she pointed out with her hands upon her hips.
"Aw, you're no fun…" Nami grumbled with a pouty face, crossing her arms over her chest. Meanwhile, Sanji was sorting through his new assortment of ingredients as Sasuke approached. As the cook grabbed an onion from the box of vegetables while everyone else was talking about Uta, he noticed that underneath it was a peculiar mushroom with two bumps upon it.
"Uh, what the hell?" he said in confusion, picking it up out of the box, "Can't cook with this…" he noted, flicking it aside into the trash bin.
"What was that?" the shinobi asked, getting his attention.
"Oh, just a bad mushroom," he responded, "You really don't wanna eat that," he affirmed seriously.
"Why?" Sasuke asked, narrowing his eyes.
"You know, we've witnessed plenty of Devil Fruit powers, but none like this," Robin pointed out to her friends while drinking some champagne.
"It's like she can do anything…" Rogue added.
"Luffy, you're friends with Uta," Nami noted, "You have any idea how she can make this all work?" she wondered curiously.
"Beats me!" her captain responded while holding up a plate of curry and rice, "Heh, she was always good at singing, maybe that's it!" he suggested, going back to gorging on his food.
"I don't think so…" Lector chimed in.
"Frosch doesn't think so, too!" Frosch agreed, raising his front left paw.
"Yohohohoho!" Brook laughed out, getting everyone's attention, "Luffy might be onto something," he admitted while taking hold of a glass of wine, "Perhaps she was smiled upon by the gods of music themselves," he presumed, "and granted mighty powers," he mentioned. At that very moment, the diva herself flew over and had the musical note she was riding pop, allowing her to land down upon the rock formation.
"What's up?" she inquired in greeting, "Is everyone having a good time?" she asked.
"Y-Yeah, Princess!" Usopp stammered as he contorted his body before standing upright with a blush appearing upon his cheeks, "Thanks to you!" he added gratefully.
"With all these rare ingredients, it's like a playground for a chef," Sanji commented.
"Everything looks awesome to me!" Chopper affirmed happily as he spun with a bottle of milk in hoof.
"Samesies!" Star agreed while drinking some juice.
"That's good to hear," Uta said, "I'd hate to make a bad impression on Luffy's friends," she added, followed by sharply turning to the Gum-Gum user himself, "Hold up, is anyone missing?" she asked him in a whisper.
"Nuh-uh," he replied.
"Are you messing with me?" she inquired quietly, still not convinced, "That hat, it belongs to—"
"This is everybody," Luffy interjected firmly, though his longtime friend was hardly willing to take his word for it. However, she didn't want the day to be spoiled by her own attitude. She let off a smile.
"So, Luffy…" she began, "you wanna play a game with me?" she offered.
"Heh," the Gum-Gum user chuckled out, putting another hunk of meat up onto the grill, letting it cook thanks to the hissing heat, "There's no way you could beat me anymore," he proclaimed.
"Oh come on!" Uta shouted childishly, throwing her fists down, "I beat your butt a hundred-eighty-three times in a row!" she pointed out.
"No, I beat you a hundred-eighty-three times!" Luffy argued.
"Yep, they're friends alright…" Sunset affirmed with a roll of her eyes.
"Those are rather divergent perspectives…" Robin commented.
"What kind of game did you play?" Nami inquired curiously, getting Uta's attention.
"We compete in just about anything," she answered, "Stuff like knife throwing or arm wrestling, you name it," she mentioned.
"So what'd you have in mind for now?" Sting asked, arching an eyebrow. The diva cracked a grin.
"I know exactly what to do!" she declared, making a plethora of colorful musical notes appear above her and the others, causing them to gasp in surprise, "Watch!" she exclaimed, having some of the notes surround her longtime friend and carry him up into the air as he yelped. More musical notes formed a floating long platform with a checkered end like a finish line. Both Luffy and Uta appeared at the end, with plates of chicken appearing before them. "We'll have a chicken speed eating contest," the latter decided, "How's that?" she questioned of her future opponent.
"Sounds great!" he answered before sitting down, "But we're still missin' somethin'!" he pointed out.
"Don't worry," the diva assured as more of her musical notes appeared and gave form to a large bull with a hat at the other end of the platform, "I've got it covered," she affirmed.
"Uh… is this safe?" Sakura wondered worriedly.
"I'm bettin' they've done this more than a couple times before…" Applejack noted with a chuckle as she crossed her arms over her chest. The bull mooed as it was ready to charge to the other end of the platform.
"I'm ready!" Luffy confirmed, raising his hands.
"Okay!" Uta responded as she held up her own.
"Three, two, one!" the pair quickly counted down together. As they did, the bull whipped itself with its tail, charging forward. The two competitors quickly started gorging on their chicken, with Luffy grinning as he clearly held a sizable lead. He had just finished his second-to-last piece as Uta summoned forth a tall glass mug of ale in her left hand.
"Thirsty?" she said, offering it to her opponent.
"Awesome!" he replied, taking the mug and drinking it without a care. The diva finished her last two pieces of chicken, leaving her foe with one left on his plate. She quickly hopped off of the platform as she giggled, while the Gum-Gum user found himself knocked off by the charging bull, yelling as he went flying through the air. The animal itself disappeared in a burst of musical notes.
"Uta's the winner!" Chopper exclaimed excitedly.
"Aw yeah!" Usopp yelled with a pump of his fist.
"Uta… you cheater!" Luffy shouted as he tumbled through the air. He yelped in fright upon noticing that he was about to fall into the water.
"Uh oh, Luffy!" Star cried out. All of a sudden though, the Gum-Gum user disappeared in an instant, being replaced by Sasuke as he safely landed upon the water. A thud was then heard back on the rock formation, enticing everyone to look back over to see the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates sitting up.
"Huh?" he uttered in confusion, "Wasn't I gonna fall in the water?" he presumed as he blinked.
"You're welcome," Sasuke said as he jumped over.
"Man, that power's super crazy…" Franky noted with a grin.
"Though it's not one we haven't seen before," Robin mentioned as she chuckled.
"Thanks for that, Sasuke," Luffy said gratefully, earning a small smile from the shinobi.
"Sorry 'bout that," Uta apologized as she came over, "I forgot you ate a Devil Fruit like me," she admitted, "Don't be angry," she insisted.
"I want a do-over on that game! You cheated!" the Gum-Gum user shouted, pointing an accusatory finger her way.
"You're such a sore loser~…" she sang mockingly with her hands raised, flexing her fingers. But then, she approached her longtime friend with a serious expression upon her face. "And since I won, you better tell me where Shanks is hiding…" she advised of him, inches away from his face, "You know, don't you?" she presumed.
"Nope," Luffy answered simply.
"Then why've you got his straw hat?" Uta asked on.
"I'm borrowing it," the Gum-Gum user replied, much to her chagrin. Sunset and Nami watched on.
"You really can tell that they're friends," the latter of the two pointed out.
"Yeah," the former agreed with a nod, "In fact, if it weren't for Twilight, I think they'd make for a good couple," she admitted as she folded her arms over her chest, "Uta is pretty cute," she commented on, causing the navigator beside her to blink in surprise.
"Wh-What?" she stuttered out. Realizing what she had just said, Sunset blushed a bright red.
"Uh, I mean… I'm sure a lot of guys think she's cute… and some girls…" she stuttered, rubbing the back of her neck nervously, "But, well… you know how Luffy is about those kinds of things…" she mentioned with a sheepish chuckle.
"Yeah, good point…" Nami agreed, glancing off to the side. From nearby, Sting and Lector looked on somewhat worriedly.
"Who's Twilight?" Uta's voice suddenly chimed in, causing the pair of girls to yelp in surprise upon spotting her suddenly between them.
"Oh, Uta!" Sunset greeted, letting out another chuckle, "Believe it or not, that's the name of Luffy's girlfriend," she told the diva, who widened her eyes.
"WHAT?!" she exclaimed, sharply turning to the Gum-Gum user himself as he began snacking on another cooked hunk of meat, "How in the world did you of all people get a girlfriend?!" she questioned emphatically out of disbelief.
"I dunno," he answered while chewing his meat contently, "But Twilight's awesome, and super-smart, too!" he mentioned with a cheeky grin. Uta gave off a blank look.
"He doesn't really get it, does he?" she presumed. Smiling, Nami shook her head.
"Not really, no," she confirmed, "But from what I've heard, he's been a good influence on her," she pointed out.
"I can attest to that," Sunset chimed in, "They won 'Best Couple' back in my world," she noted, causing Uta to blink in surprise.
"Your world?" she repeated out of confusion.
"Oh, I guess I didn't mention…" the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user realized, "Me and my friends are from other worlds across the multiverse," she told her, "We sometimes come to help out Luffy and the others if they're ever in a pinch or just to hang out like this," she explained on.
"Whoa, that's… pretty cool…" the diva said, smiling a little.
"Yeah, I guess it is!" Sunset agreed, flashing a bright grin. At that moment, Uta gave off a cheeky smirk.
"So…" she began, causing the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user to perk up, "I'm cute, am I?" she inquired curiously of her. Blinking twice, Sunset's face exploded into a scarlet red.
"W-W-W-W-WHAT?!" she stammered as she stumbled back a few steps, "Uh, no! I, um… I meant it like… uh…" she tried to say, fumbling her words, "I mean, I'm sure a lot of people think you're cute or… some other choice words…" she assumed, burning bright red as she covered her embarrassed face with her hands.
"Ahahaha!" the diva laughed, "Relax, I'm just teasing!" she reassured, patting the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user's right shoulder, "Guys, girls, or whatever's in between, I'm happy that you really like me, too!" she affirmed to her, "Though I get the feeling you like some others a little more…" she teased, glancing back specifically at Nami. Noticing, Sunset turned even redder.
"Alright, that's enough," Sasuke chimed in as he approached, leading his squadron leader aside as she took a deep breath to calm down, "She really is like Luffy, huh?" he noted curiously.
"Yeah…" the red-and-yellow-haired woman agreed, exhaling another deep breath as her face went back to normal.
"Quick question," Nami chimed in, getting Uta's attention, "You mind if I ask where and Luffy met the first time?" she inquired.
"Oh, she came to Windmill Village with Shanks and his crew when I was a little kid," her captain answered for himself and the diva.
"Aw, so you played together back in your old hometown," Brook realized, "How cute…" he gushed.
"Yep!" Luffy replied.
FLASHBACK
The sky was dusking over the small island village as the windmills' turbines slowly moved with the pleasant breeze. Sitting at the ledge of the island while staring out at the horizon was a young Uta, whose hair wasn't fully grown out. She had a yellow, long-sleeved dress with brown boots, along with white, roundish headphones with her name etched upon both ends. As she listened to the sounds of the sea breeze and the gentle ocean waves, another figure ran over. It was a young Luffy, who lacked the scar under his eye, wearing a plain white t-shirt, red cargo shorts, and sandals.
"What are you doing? Daydreaming again?" he assumed of the young girl, getting her attention. She smiled at him.
"Come sit with me," she requested kindly.
"Uh-uh, that's boring!" Luffy proclaimed, "I wanna play a game!" he insisted, raising and then throwing down his arms.
"Huh…" Uta groaned as she stood up, "Why are you such a baby?" she asked of him, "Alright…" she sighed out, turning to face him while placing her hands onto her hips, "I think I know exactly what game to play…" she declared confidently. A while later, the pair had returned to the village.
"Chicken Chomper!" they exclaimed together. A pair of plates filled with chicken alongside glasses of juice were set upon a table outside the local bar. A dog was in the area, woofing as the two kids took their positions at the table.
"Whoever can eat the most chicken before they run wins!" Uta stated firmly.
"Got it!" Luffy responded, ready to play.
"Cut that out!" another voice suddenly yelled, belonging to Makino as she exited the bar to see the pair about to begin their contest, "You're going to get hurt, you two!" she pointed out worriedly.
"We won't!" the pair assured with shakes of their heads.
"Uta! Luffy!" the barmaid shouted, causing the two kids to whine with disappointment. Just then, someone else exited through the bar shutter doors.
"Ah, let 'em have their fun," he insisted, causing Makino to look back to see that it was Shanks who had come out, "This isn't just a game, it's a matter of honor for them," he noted while tipping up his straw hat. The pair of competitors nodded in confirmation. They then raised their arms.
"Let's go!" Luffy yelled out.
"Ready?" Uta said.
"Three, two, one, go!" they counted down quickly, smacking their hands against the table to begin their contest, starting to eat their respective plates heartily. The rest of the Red-Haired Pirates came out to watch them compete.
"What are they competing over anyway?" Makino asked out of worry.
"It's a test of their pirate skills, though I don't get the chicken part…" Benn Beckman noted in response. The pair of kids were still gnawing away at their food, with Luffy finishing his first piece.
"Yeah, Luffy! Chow down!" Lucky Roux cheered while eating a hunk of meat he had. Uta did catch up to her opponent, but seemed to know that she wouldn't be able to beat him unless he was distracted for a moment. So she grabbed her glass of juice and handed it off to him.
"You thirsty?" she offered, getting his attention.
"Yeah! Thanks, Uta!" he said gratefully, accepting the drink while failing to notice her finishing her last two pieces of chicken. As he started guzzling down the beverage he had been given, she ran off. That was essentially a signal to the dog, who dashed toward the table and bowled over the distracted boy, sending him flying in a yelp.
"Luffy!" Makino cried out, running over to his aid.
"Ah… I can't believe he fell for it again…" Yasopp groaned with his right hand upon his face out of exasperation.
"Still alive down there?" Uta asked of her rival as he lied upon the ground, squatting beside him.
"It's not over! That doesn't settle nothin', darn it!" he yelled out as he hopped onto his feet in front of her.
"Grow up, you sore loser~…" she sang mockingly with a squeezing motion using her hands.
"You're the loser! You cheated!" Luffy shouted back.
"I'm a pirate, dummy!" Uta retorted as she stood up, "I don't follow the rules," she pointed out, "And you got distracted during the duel 'cause you're a stupid baby," she mentioned as she aimed her right pointer finger his way.
"Would you stop acting like you're so cool?!" Luffy yelled, "You're not a real pirate 'til Shanks says so!" he noted aloud.
"Shut up!" the young girl shouted, "I'm Shanks' daughter, which means I've been sailing and going on adventures for years!" she pointed out as the Red-Haired Pirates continued to watch on, "I'm way, way, WAY different than a little snot like you!" she proclaimed.
"Nuh-uh!" Luffy exclaimed back.
"Yuh-huh!" Uta retorted childishly.
"'Kay then…" the young boy began as he stepped back into a fighting stance, holding up his fists, "If you're a real pirate, then why don't you fight me?!" he challenged.
"I'm ready anytime!" his rival responded, taking a stance to fight herself. Planting his right foot down, Luffy stared down Uta for a moment. The two of them then began swinging their arms, yelling as they were about to charge at each other.
"I think that's enough nonsense for today," Shanks chimed in, bonking the pair of kids atop their heads with the hilt of his sheathed sword to make them stop, enticing them to turn and see him there.
"You should be ashamed, Shanks!" his daughter yelled, "A real pirate wouldn't bonk kids with his sword…" she grumbled.
"Oh yeah?" her father said, "What's wrong, you never heard of tough love?" he inquired of her.
"But swords aren't tough, they're sharp!" Luffy argued.
"Aw… did you say love?" Uta asked cutely with a smile, "You like me so much, Shanks, you don't have to be shy!" she assured while hugging her father's right leg. Her rival took the action to hug his other leg.
"What about me?!" he questioned worriedly.
"Do you always gotta climb on me, you clingy little monkeys?" the captain of the Red-Haired Pirates asked as he squatted down, allowing for the pair of kids to climb onto his shoulders.
"Hey, Uta," Luffy said, getting the young girl's attention, "why'd you call him Shanks?" he asked, "Shouldn't you call him dad or something?" he assumed.
"He might be my dad, but as a pirate, Shanks is my captain," she answered, "And he's my hero, too," she mentioned with a big smile. Makino watched on and giggled, while the captain of the Red-Haired Pirates let off his own smile. His daughter hopped off of him.
"I'm feeling so good about beating Luffy that I think I'm gonna sing!" she announced as she skipped about.
"No fair, Shanks! I wanna go sailing, too!" the young boy complained to the pirate captain.
"Nothin' personal, kid," he responded, "but you're too rowdy for my crew," he pointed out.
"But Uta—!"
"Waits back on the ship when we have a fight," Shanks interjected, placing his left hand atop Luffy's head, "There's no way you would sit still," he noted, much to the young boy's chagrin as he growled, "See?" he said, having had his point confirmed.
"That's right!" his daughter exclaimed, raising her hands, "I may be little, but I'm Uta, musician of the Red-Haired Pirates!" she introduced, "And when I grow up, my songs are going to make a new age where everyone will be free!" she declared on.
"The star's takin' the stage," Shanks noted, turning the young boy beside him around, "You better listen up, Luffy," he advised.
Where did it come from~…?
Where could this wind be taking us~…?
I look up to the sky hoping for answers~…
But there's no reply~…
Where will it end up~…
This song that I've been a vessel for~…?
I look within knowing I'll find the answer~…
Even on my own~…
Let's row out to the open sea~…
Far as we can go~…
To the unknown~…
I've got to keep on dreaming~…!
Luffy felt his eyes jolt open as he awoke. He blinked twice, noticing that a few of the Red-Haired Pirates were waking up themselves at the porch to the bar. Seated alongside them was a seemingly snoozing Uta. He went up to her, squatting down in front of her and poking at her nose. She snored quietly.
"It's my turn to sing!" Luffy exclaimed as he stood up and raised his arms excitedly.
"Let's hear it for Luffy!" Yasopp yelled.
"YEAH!" the rest of the crew cheered with pumps of their fists, all while Uta contently slept upon the steps.
END FLASHBACK
X
"So the same thing happened when you were kids…" Sting noted after hearing the story, while the diva giggled. Luffy himself gave off an inquisitive look.
"Now that I think back, you disappeared suddenly…" he recalled curiously with his hands upon his hips, causing Uta to perk up in surprise as she turned to him. A slight blush crossed her cheeks as she held her left arm sheepishly.
"Is there a story? What happened?" Chopper asked as he hopped over.
"Uh…" Luffy uttered, trying to wrack his brain for an answer as he pressed his pointer fingers against his head.
"Need some help?" Sunset offered upon approaching.
"Help?" Uta repeated in confusion, arching an eyebrow under the fringe of hair covering her left eye.
"One of my powers is being able to see people's memories," the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user confirmed, reaching into her blouse to pull out her pendant, which she rubbed with her fingers, "If I focus on something specific, I can lock into a memory that's almost forgotten," she mentioned on.
"Uh, wow," the diva uttered out, "That's… pretty impressive," she admitted. Sunset chuckled, turning to Luffy.
"Well?" she said, ready to offer her assistance.
"Mmm… yeah, I could use it…" he admitted in embarrassment. Smiling, the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user took a gentle hold of her friend's right arm. Her eyes flashed white. When she blinked and opened them again, she found herself standing at dock just outside of Windmill Village, with a large ship having just arrived. She noticed a little boy excitedly running toward it, immediately recognizing that it was Luffy. She walked over as he had approached the ship.
"Welcome back!" he yelled in greeting, "What kind of adventures did you have this time?!" he inquired excitedly. Sunset giggled at how eager and free-spirited the young boy was. But she saw that none of the Red Hair Pirates were saying anything to him. In fact… they seemed solemn. "Huh? What gives?!" the young Luffy asked, "Fine, I'll just ask Uta!" he decided, "Uta!" he called out, "Uta!" he yelled again, still with a smile on his face, "If you wanna brag about your trip, I'll listen this time!" he loudly promised, "Why are you hiding?! It's me!" he bellowed on.
The red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user watched on worriedly. Then she noticed another figure disembarking from the ship. It was Shanks. And he too looked disheartened.
"Shanks… where'd Uta go?" Luffy asked of him as he approached. He noticed the expression upon his face. "What's that look?" he questioned on, "Did something bad happen to her?" he inquired worriedly. The captain of the Red Hair Pirates placed his right hand atop the young boy's head.
"Nothin' to worry about, Luffy," he assured, "Uta left the crew to become a singer, that's all," he told him. Sunset let out a little gasp. After hearing about how the diva seemed to be so close to Shanks from what the Gum-Gum user had said earlier, she never imagined that she would wind up just leaving her father's crew. "It was the right choice," he affirmed. Blinking back to reality, the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user stepped back from Luffy.
"Well, what'd ya see?" Applejack asked. Slowly, Sunset looked back at Uta, giving off a worried expression.
"You left the crew…" she confirmed, much to the others' surprise, "I mean, that's obvious since you're here now…" she pointed out, "But you left way before I thought you would've…" she mentioned to the singer, who gave off a little smile.
"Oh yeah, now I remember!" Luffy exclaimed.
"Uh, it was your memory Sunset just saw…" Usopp bluntly pointed out.
"So why'd you decide to quit being a pirate, Uta?" the Gum-Gum user asked of his longtime friend as he went over to grab another hunk of meat off of the grill, "You used to love the Red Hair Pirates!" he noted in remembrance, flipping up his food and eating it whole in one bite.
"Even if I wanted to be a pirate, I wanted to be a singer way more…" the diva answered as her hair loops flopped down momentarily, "I mean, look," she continued, gesturing to herself, "in just two years, I got this many fans rooting for my success!" she pointed out happily.
"Yeah, that's great!" Luffy remarked, followed by blinking in realization, "Oh yeah, Sunset's a singer, too!" he mentioned, causing the person in question to perk up.
"Wait, really?" Uta said, looking over to the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user, who blushed a little.
"Well, I'm part of a band…" she admitted, sheepishly rubbing the back of her head.
"And I'm in it with her," Applejack added, "Sunset there's pretty good on the guitar," she mentioned with a wink to her friend, who chuckled.
"That's quite the surprise…" Brook admitted.
"Yeah, I don't think any of us ever knew you two were musicians…" Nami pointed out.
"Really?" Sunset said, raising an eyebrow before letting off a sigh with a smile, "Guess someone forgot to mention it…" she concluded, glancing over to Luffy, who sheepishly grinned.
"Sorry!" he apologized.
"Well, why not show me what you got?" Uta offered, having a set of musical notes swirl above the group before giving form to a classical guitar that fell towards them. Sunset caught it in a grunt. "I'm sure if you're in a band, you can pull off a solo act," the diva pointed out, "It'd be super nice to hear a voice that Luffy's been listening to for a while," she added with an excited smile of anticipation.
"Yohoho!" Brook laughed, "Then perhaps I can woo you with my musical talent afterward!" he suggested.
"Uh, me too, I guess…" Applejack chimed in. Sunset went ahead and made sure the strap of her guitar was fastened tightly as she put it over her left shoulder. She gently started strumming the strings, creating a pleasant melody.
It's all right, yeah~…
I'm walking right beside you~…
I feel the way, feel the way that you do, too~…
Oh, I can't lie, sometimes~…!
Everything feels like it's just too much~
But you gotta let it in, even if it's tough~
Know it gets better, know it gets better~
Push through the weather, weather~
Uta found herself hanging off of the first verse Sunset sung, more so than anyone else listening. Her lyrics struck a chord with her, making her tremble with trepidation. As for the others watching their friend perform, they were already amazed.
Let it ra-a-a-ain~!
Let it ra-a-a-ain~!
Don't be afraid of walls coming down~
Sometimes it hurts, you'll figure it out~
Let it ra-a-a-ain~!
"Milady's voice is as great as always," Sting commented with a smile.
"She's indeed something, even compared to Uta herself," Jimbei added.
"Go, Sunset!" Frosch cheered as he hopped up and down.
Let it rain, it's okay~…
There's beauty in the breakdown~…
There's sun behind those gray clouds~…
You know, I can't lie, it's all right~…
When everything feels like it's just too much~
But you gotta let it in, even if it's tough~
Know it gets better, know it gets better~
We push through the weather, weather~
Everyone smiled on as Sunset kept singing. Though there weren't any flashy effects or concert-like ambiance to the occasion, that didn't make the performance any less mesmerizing. And it especially was affecting Uta, who continued to listen as her eyes trembled slightly.
Let it ra-a-a-ain~!
Let it ra-a-a-ain~!
Don't be afraid of walls coming down~
Sometimes it hurts, you'll figure it out~
Let it ra-a-a-ain~!
Let it rain, let it ra-a-a-ain~...
Finishing her song, Sunset opened her eyes to be met with a round of applause from her friends.
"Woohoo!" Star exclaimed, "Atta' girl, Sunny!" she cheered.
"That was your song for the Starswirl Music Fest, huh?" Applejack noted as she approached.
"Yeah," her friend confirmed, "Kinda took the theme from you for that one," she mentioned in admittance, sharing a giggle with the cowgirl.
"That was… pretty good…" Uta chimed in, getting their attentions as they saw her come over, having a somewhat solemn smile upon her face, "Where'd the inspiration for it come from?" she wondered curiously. Sunset let off a little grin.
"A couple years ago, things were… well… rough," she admitted in reply, "And I went through a lot of tough stuff that I sometimes struggled to get past," she mentioned further, "But… thanks to the people around me, I know I'm never alone to take on that tough stuff," she affirmed with an earnest smile.
"Uh, yeah…" Uta said, "That's… definitely the message I got…" she pointed out with a sheepish chuckle.
"I didn't realize you were such a beautiful singer," Nami commented as she approached.
"Wh-What?" Sunset stuttered out. Blinking twice, the navigator blushed upon realizing what she said.
"I-I meant… you've got a beautiful singing voice, yeah!" she stuttered in claim, sheepishly rubbing the back of her head. The red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user smiled.
"Thanks, Nami," she said gratefully. Having witnessed the scene nearby, Robin giggled.
"So, Luffy…" Uta began, getting the Gum-Gum user's attention as he was chewing away at yet another piece of grilled meat, "what are you doing now?" she asked curiously.
"Well, I'm a pirate, obviously," he answered with his hands on his cheeks as he was still chewing his food. The diva gave off a look of surprise, though maintained her smile. She seemed pained by the answer, which Sunset took notice of, blinking in confusion.
"Of course… that was your dream…" she noted out of remembrance.
"Uh-huh!" Luffy exclaimed, "And I'm gonna be king of the pirates!" he declared on before jogging off.
"Hey Luffy..." Uta began, "why don't you give up on that?" she requested, much to everyone's surprise.
"Wait, what?" Sunset said as she blinked.
"You'd be much better off sticking with me," the singer pointed out, "Your friends are all fans of mine, so they'd be up for it, right?" she presumed, earning nervous looks from those around her.
"What in the world's she talkin' 'bout...?" Applejack wondered quietly, while her fellow Equestrian Magic user tensed up. Something obviously wasn't right...
"I promise you'd all have a great time," Uta assured, only for Luffy to continue heading off, "Luffy!" she yelled, running after him, "Are you even listening to me?!" she shouted in question. Chuckling, the Gum-Gum user turned to her with a big grin while halfway down the steps to the gondola docked there.
"It was great seeing you again, Uta!" he called out, "Thanks for all the meat!" he mentioned gratefully, "I'm gonna head back to the Sunny and get a nice long nap," he affirmed.
"Huh?!" the singer exclaimed, astonished that he was essentially ignoring her proposal.
"Look, I'm glad you're doin' what makes you happy," he pointed out, "but it's just not for me!" he noted, turning around and heading down the steps, "Bye!" he said in farewell. His old friend clenched her fists tightly. Noticing, Sunset gave off a nervous look. She approached the singer, reaching her right hand out.
"Uta, it's fine," she assured, "That's just how Luffy is," she noted, placing her hand onto the red-and-white-haired woman's shoulder. At that moment, her eyes flashed white, if only briefly. She then sharply gasped, stumbling back.
"Whoa, Sunset!" Usopp yelped as he hurried over to catch her. He couldn't help but notice the look of panic upon her face. The others did, too.
"Wait... did milady just use her magic?" Lector inquired.
"I think so..." Sting confirmed quietly, "Something's wrong..." he realized, looking over at Uta with the other Omni Force members. She was tapping her right foot against the ground in frustration.
"I won't let you go..." she declared ominously to everyone's surprise, "All of you," she added, "You're gonna stay here with me forever..." she decided, turning to face them, "Don't worry... Luffy will change his mind eventually..." she affirmed with a sinister smile.
"What are you planning...?" Sunset inquired, taking on a serious expression as she stood up, "And where are we?!" she added vehemently in question.
"Uh, Sunset?" Chopper uttered in confusion.
"What did you see from her memory?" Sasuke questioned of the Omni Force squadron leader.
"Oh, so that's what you were doing..." Uta realized with narrowed eyes, "Well, if you could see that, then maybe you should know why..." she told Sunset, who clenched her teeth together.
"What the hell are you even talking about?" Zoro asked as he approached.
"Uh, Uta, I love your singing as much as everyone here," Nami pointed out, "but forever is kinda-" Before she could say anything else, she was swept away by a pink musical note that flew in from a swipe of the singer's left arm. Everyone gasped.
"Nami!" Sanji cried out as he was about to run after her, only to caught up in a musical staff like the one used earlier. Both he and the navigator were carried up into the air, being displayed for all of the audience to see.
"Hey guys!" Uta exclaimed over the microphone as she flew up aboard a yellow musical note, "I found some more naughty pirates!" she pointed out, "What should I do?" she inquired of her fans below, still giving off a sinister smile.
"What the hell's going on?" Sakura asked.
"U-T-A! U-T-A! U-T-A!" members of the audience chanted excitedly.
"I'm scared..." Frosch whimpered, hiding behind Lector.
"Milady, what's happening right now?" Sting asked of Sunset, who clenched her fists, "Why's Uta suddenly turning on us?" he inquired on.
"I didn't get to see too much, but..." she began to respond, "this isn't a concert," she stated to everyone's confusion, "It's a prison… and we're in it…" she confirmed with a grimace.
"A prison?" Robin repeated, quite perplexed.
"Uh, I don't exactly see how that's the case here…" Brook noted.
"Whatever's happening, we need to help Nami and Sanji..." Rogue noted as a shadowy aura wafted from his arms.
"Now we're talkin'!" Kyoya exclaimed excitedly, setting Leone onto his beylauncher as a wide grin came across his face. Up above, Uta smiled at her cheering crowd.
"Okay!" she exclaimed, "I'll take of the pirates for you!" she decided, "Here goes!" she yelled out. As a drum beat was started, the rock formations over the concert hall bent over and glowed. The singer clapped her hands, enticing those of the audience to do the same, starting a building rhythm.
"I'm not liking the looks of this..." Alain said while readying a Poké Ball in his right hand.
"I don't wanna pick a fight with one of Luffy's friends..." Zoro admitted, drawing two of his swords, "But that's enough! No more games!" he shouted out.
"Right!" Sakura agreed as she put on her gloves, while Sasuke pulled out his own blade from its sheath. Uta continued clapping with the audience. Suddenly, several music-themed soldiers wielding lances manifested in flashes of light, dashing out at the Straw Hats and those of the Omni Force.
"Whoa, what the heck are they?!" Usopp asked as he had to stumble back to avoid getting stabbed, while the Uchiha man and the green-haired swordsman slashed them away into nothingness. Above, the singer scoffed, merely summoning more.
"There's quite a few of them...!" Brook exclaimed in panic. Jimbei reared his right arm back.
"Arabesque... Brick Fist!" he yelled, punching into the air to unleash a shockwave that blew most of their enemies back.
"Shadow Dragon ROOOOAAAAAAARRRRR!" Rogue bellowed, releasing a torrent of shadows from his mouth that knocked away several other musical soldiers. However, more were appearing, converging onto the group.
"Ouchie Finger!" Franky roared, opening the tip of his left pointer finger to fire bullets that knocked away two soldiers.
"Let it rip!" Kyoya exclaimed, pulling on the ripcord of his launcher to unleash Leone, having it tear through half a dozen soldiers. As they continued to battle, Uta floated down toward Luffy, who was shocked by the current ordeal.
"Luffy," she said sternly, getting his attention, "I don't want this," she affirmed to him, "It's your fault for being a pirate," she pointed out, "If you're really my friend, then you'll give up that life," she insisted.
"What are you even talking about?!" the captain of the Straw Hats questioned as he crouched down aboard the gondola. However, he took a moment to think, followed by standing up. "I'm not gonna do this," he decided, tipping his hat over his eyes, "There's no reason for us to fight, it's wrong," he said. Uta huffed.
"Alright, you don't have to fight me," she assured while turning around, "Just sit there and lose," she remarked coldly. With a snap of her fingers, a guitar started playing as she floated up, while the lights changed to a deep red. Sunset looked up and grimaced, seeing her rise higher and point around with a laser light emitting from her finger, passing by the group as Chopper and Usopp flinched from it hitting their eyes momentarily. The beat started quickening.
"This don't look good..." Applejack noted with her own grimace before ponying up.
"Yeah..." Sunset agreed, ponying up herself in a flash of light, "Get ready!" she called out to her colleagues. Uta danced with a firm expression upon her face, having more musical soldiers converge onto those at the island.
"Seis Fleur!" Robin yelled as she crossed her arms in front of herself, "SLAP!" she exclaimed, making several arms appear upon one of the soldiers, striking it multiple times before it disappeared.
"CHHHAAAAAAAAAA!" Sakura roared, punching away three others with a powerful straight punch from her right fist.
"Cupcake Blast!" Star exclaimed, shooting out beams of energy in the form of sugary treats from her hands, knocking back several more soldiers. But with each one vanquished, many more were taking their place as the beat kept going.
"Cut it out, Uta!" Luffy yelled while punching and kicking soldiers coming after him, "This isn't funny!" he pointed out in frustration, crossing his arms and imbuing them with Armament Haki to block off another soldier's lance. However, the singer was too in her element to listen, making angelic wings that were pink and white manifest at her back.
My mem'ries so good and awful~...
It seems they gave me a grudge~...
But I have left bitterness and resentment behind me~...
More soldiers shot out at the Straw Hats and those of the Omni Force, only for them to get destroyed thanks to the likes of Chopper turning into his monstrous form to swat them away, along with Usopp shooting down others and Brook slicing past more.
And it is all thanks to him~...
Look, it's the clowns who think they know~
How crushing loneliness can be~
You know nothing 'til you come with me~!
Having called out his Charizard, Alain swung his right arm out to issue a command, enticing the Flame Pokémon to unleash a stream of fire from his mouth like Franky towards their foe.
And run wild~!
Release your rage~!
Let the winds of wrath blow them away~!
Not gonna live in compliance-iance-iance~!
Uta blocked off the flames by bringing forth a musical staff, followed by having it shoot out and wrap around each of the Straw Hats and the Omni Force members as they weren't paying attention. Sunset managed to fly away just before she could end up entrapped thanks to her amber energy wings, but she and Luffy were left to watch as their friends were raised up into the air.
No, I'm not playin' the victim~!
Time to go rage~!
Let's punish them all~!
For their love; I'm done trying to trust~...
Green ropes of energy suddenly ensnared Luffy before he could react, while those that were trapped in the musical staff swirling them reached Nami and Sanji, joining them as they were stuck as well.
Not gonna live in compliance-iance-iance~!
Gonna play with fire, backlit~...
By the flames~!
As the song wound down, Sunset clenched her teeth together as she watched Uta have the entrapped Luffy float over to the main stage. She landed down, pointing around again in victory as the backlight shone off of her ominously. The Gum-Gum user struggled against the ropes around him.
"What the hell are you trying to pull…?!" he grunted out in question, "Lemme go!" he commanded. The singer let her mic disappear from her headphones in a sparkling flash of light.
"I'm sorry…" she apologized, "but I can't let you become king of the pirates," she stated firmly. Luffy clenched his teeth together as he tried to break free of his bindings. "Everyone!" Uta yelled out to the crowd, "Tell 'em what you think about pirates!" she advised.
"Pirates burnt my city down!" one man yelled.
"Pirates killed my husband!" another woman added emphatically.
"They killed my mom!" a boy sobbed out.
"Make the pirates go away! Make the pirates pay!" the entire audience chanted.
"Come on… you know Luffy!" Usopp yelled from the musical staff he and the others were stuck to, "He would never hurt innocent people!" he pointed out.
"We wouldn't either!" Sakura shouted on, "Aren't we supposed to be friends?!" she questioned angrily, trying to pry herself free of the musical staff to no avail. Below on the mainstage, Luffy suddenly found the ropes around his body disappear, allowing him to hop up onto his feet.
"Uta, let them go!" he demanded, only to suddenly wind up getting splashed by seawater. He groaned weakly as he staggered.
"Don't raise your voice at her, pirate!" a woman with a bucket in hand shouted, having been the one to douse him with other fans, "Go away!" she yelled on. The Gum-Gum user struggled to stay afoot.
"All it takes is a little bit of seawater!" another man added, carrying a rake as another man with him had a pitchfork in hand, "Your powers aren't so scary now!" he pointed out.
"Hey, stop it!" Chopper yelled from the musical staff.
"He's not gonna hurt anyone!" Star assured, "We won't, either!" she mentioned firmly. From within the crowd, the man wearing the odd-looking visor growled.
"I've seen enough!" he decided, shooting to his feet.
"Don't!" his partner insisted, being none other than Coby as he grabbed Helmeppo's left arm, "They'll be fine for now," he assured with a smile, "We should start preparing for the next phase," he advised. The fans onstage charged at Luffy, who had fallen weakly onto his stomach. However, in a bright flash of amber light, Sunset appeared beside him.
"Sorry 'bout this!" she apologized in advance, sticking her hands out to their respective sides as they were cloaked in a reddish-amber sparkling aura. The same energy appeared around the oncoming fans as they were suddenly lifted off of the ground in yelps. They found themselves telekinetically thrown off of the stage, splashing into the water.
"Sunset…" Luffy uttered weakly, getting the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user's attention.
"Don't worry, Luffy," she reassured, "We'll get everyone back and then— AH!" she yelped as she was suddenly swept up in a mass of musical notes, heading for the musical staff.
"Sunset, no!" Nami cried out. Fortunately, the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user was able to teleport herself away in a flash of light, causing the notes to dissipate. She reappeared back upon the stage, turning and glaring toward Uta.
"You're pretty slippery, I'll give you that…" she commented.
"Why are you doing this?!" Sunset asked angrily, "Isn't Luffy your friend?!" she inquired on.
"Of course he is," the singer answered, "But you know him, he's a sore loser as always~!" she remarked mockingly, making a squeezing motion with her hands again as she gave off a smile. A growl left Sunset's lips as she suddenly disappeared again in a flash of golden light.
"The only sore loser I see here…" her voice began as she was reappearing and disappearing around Uta, causing her to take a cautious stance, "IS YOU!" she roared, emerging behind her with her right fist reared back. The second the singer pivoted around, she was met with a powerful right hook to her face, sending her flying across the stage before crashing into the wall. Everyone gasped in shock, especially Luffy. "Huh…" Sunset exhaled afterward, letting her empowered form dissipate in a flash of light.
"Sunset…" the Gum-Gum user said, getting her attention as she noticed his astonished expression. She gave off an ashamed look with a sigh.
"I'm sorry, Luffy," she apologized as she walked over, "Let's get everyone out of here," she advised, about to reach out and help the captain of the Straw Hats back onto his feet. All of a sudden though, she was struck aside by a beam of pink light, crashing into one of the nearby rock formations.
"Sunset!" Applejack screamed. The dust settled, revealing her fellow Equestrian Magic user grimaced as she lied against the rock. A shadow loomed over her as she batted her eyes open, seeing Uta floating above her upon another musical note.
"Well…" she began, wiping her stricken cheek to instantly cleanse it of the bruise that had formed, "that wasn't very cute, was it?" she growled in question.
"Ergh… why?" Sunset grunted out as she tried sitting up, "Why force us to stay here…?!" she questioned, "Isn't that the exact opposite of freedom?!" she inquired on, only for Uta to stomp her right foot against her stomach, "GAH!" she gasped out in pain.
"Shut up!" the diva shouted, "You don't know what you're talking about!" she proclaimed, picking the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user up by her hair and throwing her back onto the mainstage, where she rolled to a stop upon her stomach like Luffy.
"Sunset…" he uttered in shock, gnashing his teeth together, "Uta, that's enough!" he yelled out as the diva herself flew over, "Just let us go already!" he insisted.
"No," she responded firmly, letting off a smirk, "You're staying here forever…" she declared. With a growl, Sunset tried to force herself up, but to no avail. Uta landed down upon the stage, slowly approaching the pair.
"Luffy! Sunset! Get out of there!" Zoro yelled.
"Don't worry about us! Just flee!" Jimbei advised. All of a sudden, a figure appeared before the downed pair.
"Barrier Ball!" Bartolomeo exclaimed, creating a spherical barrier around himself, Luffy, and Sunset, preventing Uta from getting closer as she lightly gasped in surprise.
"R-Rooster?" the Gum-Gum user stuttered in surprise.
"Barto… what are you—?"
"Skip the questions, Miss Sunset," the Bari-Bari user insisted, interjecting the red-and-yellow-haired Equestrian Magic user, "Mister Luffy, there's something real scary about Miss Uta…" he noted to the captain of the Straw Hats as he and his friend stood back up, "I don't think we can take her…" he admitted with a nervous grimace.
"She hasn't beaten me yet…" the Gum-Gum user proclaimed as he clenched his fists.
"Me either…" Sunset agreed, "We're getting our friends back one way or another!" she declared firmly.
"Aw, you're both just being sore losers now~…" Uta remarked mockingly to the pair. An angered snarl left Sunset's lips. All of a sudden though, a bluish aura expanded out, enveloping the group within the spherical barrier. It and those inside vanished, being replaced with a slab of stone that fell onto the stage. Spotlights shone down onto the stage as everyone murmured with shock.
"Where'd they go?!" one woman asked.
"Did they escape?!" another man wondered aloud. Uta lowered her head in realization.
"More pirates in hiding, huh?" she noted, "That's a pity…" she grumbled. From above, Sasuke narrowed his eyes.
"So he's here, too…" he concluded.
