So I reference the tie-in comics to BTAS with the false name Scarecrow uses in one story he attempted to reform by fleeing upstate and becoming an English Professor under the name Irving Diedrich the Irving being from Washington Irving who wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Meanwhile downstairs despite the fact it was very rude Mikey couldn't help himself and began poking around in the kitchen...Only to find that someone with as scrawny a physique as Jonathan Crane at the moment his kitchen was indeed rather barren.
"Ugh!" Mikey groaned "Nothing but a box of tea, half a loaf of bread and a teeny tiny smidgen of butter?! This dude seriously needed to go grocery shopping!"
"I mean…" Don sighed "...Considering who he is, he probably has to hire go-fers to do his shopping for him. And if he suddenly became ill after escaping he just may not have had time to do that."
Mikey sighed...As a member of the Justice Force Reserves the idea of working with a super villain was just irking him...One of the rare few times Mikey's own sense of 'honor' which was different from Leo's code of honor was nagging at him…
So working with what little there was...Even though it was rude to eat a host's food without permission Mikey decided his hunger took precedence other a super villain's property and took two slices of bread and put them in the toaster.
"This sure is taking a long time…" Mikey sighed "...I wonder what Buttercup and the Scarecrow are talking about?"
Now that they had negotiated the terms Buttercup was now making the call her her Dad to ask for the medicine for Jonathan's specific illness...As she had been a former lab animal for medical experiments living in the world of the scientists after her mutation made her very familiar with the world of diseases and medicine which probably explained her assumption the Turtles harbored salmonella…
After greeting her Dad she gave him a mostly honest summation of the 'road trip' so far that just outside of Gotham the storm had caused an accident that caused the truck to spill out into a ditch (And she emphasized 'Everyone's FINE Dad!' and told him they quickly found shelter in what they thought was an abandoned house but turned was just the...Vacation house of gentlemanly professor who unfortunately was very ill and needed this specific medicine.
"So…" Her Dad said "...This Professor was just...OK with you and your friends? I want to speak with him."
Jonathan Crane overhearing Dr. Fleischer's end of the conversation and seeing Buttercup obviously starting to sweat under the pressure said "Give me the phone Buttercup, I'll talk to him."
With her heart pounding Buttercup gingerly handed Jonathan the phone
"Greetings Dr. Fleshier…" Jonathan said "...I am indeed a Professor...My name is Irving Diedrich...English Professor and I do admit I was quite a bit shocked when I saw your daughter and her four friends...I thought my illness had progressed to the point it had infected my brain and I was hallucinating animals in clothes like a children's storybook! But your daughter rather Eloquently explained...Well at least her origins...Still don't know where the Turtles came from...And I have always been open to the 'strange' and 'unusual' after all 'There is more in Heaven and on Earth than is dreamt of in your philosophy'
And Buttercup felt a chill go down her spine just how charming and eloquent Jonathan could be seeing he was mostly telling the truth peppered with a few lies and she could also see while he was himself a scientist the fact he was a psychologist and also an expert on literature meant he could run the proverbial circles around her Dad and his peers who they as mostly a bunch of biologists and chemists were a much more blunt and straightforward bunch who when they weren't thinking about science were mostly thinking about chess and baseball…
"And...You don't mind the intrusion?" Dr. Fleshier was obviously sounding a bit intimidated himself!
"Good Sir!" Jonathan said "I was in such great pain at that moment! I could hardly move from my bed! The strange creatures almost seemed like angels in disguise!"
And before Dr. Fleshier could ask why didn't Jonathan call for help and while Jonathan could say an obvious lie like the phone line was down which would make perfect sense for an isolated house in the wilderness and given the weather but instead Jonathan prevented that question from being asked in the first place by changing the subject…
"Your daughter is indeed a Wondrous Creature…" Jonathan said "...But the explanation of her origins left me with just more questions...Like what was that 'blue goo' you found in a cave...Where in the world was that cave and how exactly did you determine it wasn't like any substance you found before?"
So Scarecrow being the Master of Fear that he is shuts down any further potential questions by letting Dr. Fleischer know he knows he and his peers have things to hide a subtle way of saying 'Gee sure would be a shame if someone revealed your incredibly dangerous experiments'
