Alright, sorry about the delayed update! May has been quite hectic for me (it usually is, ugh). The show must go on! By the way, this update is a bit short. It's a buffer chapter to the next one, so I do apologize.
If you are new to my work, I tend to use fanfiction as a way to improve my writing skills and as a therapy tool. On that note, I realized I was treading water with attempting DBZ fanfiction because I know the extreme dedication the base has (it tends to get toxic pretty quickly) when I did my first piece entitled Kaioshin. It got some pretty good results and responses, none too negative in nature with some good feedback and suggestions. This one, however, seems to have set off the base to the extreme. Need I remind everyone these are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS and should not be taken so seriously that you end up literally THREATENING to KILL someone simply because they do not agree with you. (The person has been reported by the way). I welcome all who wish to hear my thought processes as I planned out this story and welcome all discussions. However, I will NOT tolerate keyblade warriors who are so extreme they are willing to kill people for fictional characters nor will I tolerate name calling or "mansplaining" (Yes, I am a female, and I am two years OLDER than the Dragonball franchise, grow up people; rolls eyes). I was prepared for backlash because I knew this story would push boundaries some people have. Negative reviews are all part of becoming an author; not everyone is going to like your work. Also, some of you seriously need to review your Japanese lessons (Kami quite literally means 'god' in Japanese…YES I had someone quite literally get mad that I called the beings from otherworld kami and NOT gods :smack of the forehead:).
Now, I shall finish my author's note with a paraphrased version of Tite Kubo's immortal words "If you don't like it, make your own."
Disclaimer: The Dragonball Franchise and Bleach, their characters, settings, etc., belong to their respective creators. All original characters, settings, etc., belong to ME.
Chapter 20: Will to Live
The residents of the underground bunker screamed as debris fell and sounds of fighting began to reverberate below. Without thinking, Kira rushed out of the bunker to the desolate above world. The sky became bright with clashes overhead; the warring factions of her adoptive family against an unseen foe. Senses guided her to the centerpoint of the collisions, where Mirai Trunks stood in awe watching as Vegeta and Goku duked it out with a Goku doppelganger.
"What in the…?" Kira's voice caused Trunks to turn to her.
"What are you doing here!? Get out of here!" He shouted at her but she ignored him, giving him a side glare.
"Shouldn't YOU be helping them?" She retorted and he went silent. "Tell me what the hell is going on."
Reluctantly he told her the story of Goku Black, how he suddenly appeared one day and just blindly destroyed everything in his path. This action caused Trunks to go to the past to recruit Goku and Vegeta in the hopes they could stop this madness.
However, something occurred that no one expected, another enemy soon arrived, this one in the form of a green skinned being who wore the clothes of Otherworld (at least that is what Kira's grandmother called the place the likes of Beerus and Whis lived). At first, all believed him to come to their aid, yet when he began to attack both Vegeta and Goku, all thought otherwise.
The battle was intense, two against two and the odds were certainly not in the favor of the Sayajins. Goku Black and his Otherworld counterpart seemed unstoppable; their relentless brutality startled even the likes of Vegeta. There was a slim chance of hope…
It became none, once Goku's unconscious form hit the ground and right beside him also unconscious, seconds later, went Vegeta. The Sayajins were badly beaten; not even the Blue form stood a chance against these immortal foes. Trunks took it upon himself to join the fray, doing anything he could to stop the madness but his attempts were futile at best. Seconds before the final blow could be struck, the area was lit with smoke and fire, blocking all sight. Kira saw figures in the smoke and knew them to be humans. Rushing towards them she helped the humans carry away Vegeta, Goku, and Trunks to a safe location. There a woman with black hair stood with the time machine behind her. Kira knew all too well what was going on.
They were retreating.
It took a lot of grunt work to get the fully grown Sayajins into the time machine. Kira didn't speak a word as she lept inside as well, just as the woman pushed some buttons on the console.
"Take care of them." She said to Kira before jumping out. The glass cover snapped into place just as a scream was heard in the air. Looking down Kira nearly screamed herself at the carnage below.
The humans that had helped were practically gone; either incinerated, torn to pieces, or just lying in their own blood. The black haired woman was the only one standing but the protruding fist in her chest proved her demise. The fist receded and she fell to the ground amongst her peers.
"Mai!" Trunks had woken up then, watched as the woman fell to her death. He was desperate to get out but the time machine was already in the final stages of leaving. Goku Black appeared in the sky, a ball of ki in his hand ready for the final destruction.
A wave of black energy hit him first; Kira recognized her own attack immediately. Her future self stood between Goku Black and the now floating time machine. Trunks seemed to be shocked as well to see such a feat.
Kira's future self turned to them, smiled and placed a hand on the glass. Her form was…blinking in and out…Like she was disappearing or something. Before she winked out completely she spoke her final words…words that would help them succeed.
"His name…is Zamasu…"
