Conan O' Brian was the host at this year's Oscars. He was funny und we all loved him when he had his talk show on TBS. So when Steve and I found out that he would be this year's host, we were ecstatic. He did not disappoint.
He did some really funny bits like at the beginning, when he emerged from the body of the actress of The Substance. That must have felt awkward for Steve to see it in front of his parents, but he loved it and so did they. He sang a song about not wasting time while wasting time with a dancing Deadpool. There was even a guy in a sandworm suit from Dune playing on the piano a couple of times. Ben Stiller did his speech, even though the stage that he was on was lowering. Und oh yeah, Andam Sandler was there at the beginning, but then was kicked out. That might have been for a bit though. But then again, I never saw him again, so idk. Dolby Theater is pretty big, so that might be why too. Conan even let the LA firefighters tell jokes.
Now for the awards. Flow won best animated picture. I haven't seen Flow, but heard that it is good and the animation is stellar to look at, like a video game.
Und even Emira Perez got a lot of nominations, despite being hated by the Internet. I never have seen that either, saw the trailer, and still didn't know what it's about. The film is in Spanish, so it's not dubbed into English. I then learned it was about a drug cartel maybe I think. It's also a musical. People also said that the movie had people who can't sing in Spanish, but Selina Gomez can, and I heard her sing in Spanish, so IDK.
Morgan Freeman came in to do a tribute for Gene Hackman as well as the introduction for the In Memoriam section. Poor Gene had Alzheimer's and was in the house with his deceased wife, who died a week before him. One of their three dogs also died. But enough about them. This blog isn't about them, even though it's super sad.
Und the winner for Best Picture is…Anora! I'm not going to list every winner like aways, so Google it or whatever.
That is this year's Oscars. Like always, until the next Oscars next year!
Oh yeah and today marks the 5th year anniversary of when Covid was classified as a global pandemic. Sorry about that.
