Chapter II
Naruto sat in the Hokage's Office facing Sarutobi Hiruzen. He had just returned to the village with Neko and was not being questioned about the night's events.
"Naruto, why did you steal the scroll?" Hiruzen asked the young blonde.
"Well Mizuki said it was a secret test to become a ninja." Naruto replied. "I knew it sounded fishy but i didn't have any reason to doubt him since he was my Academy Instructor."
"Naruto, you should have come to me about Mizuki's test right away. What you did broke the Laws of the Village. However since you were acting under the orders of your superior and you are not yet a ninja I can not punish you as I would one of my shinobi." Hiruzen said. "Now onto the next topic about tonight's fiasco. I know you used the Kyubi's…"
"Kurama." Naruto interrupted.
"Pardon?" Hiruzen asked confused as to why Naruto would interrupt him.
"His name, it's Kurama." Naruto said firmly.
"Who's name?" the agin kage asked still confused.
"The Kyubi. His name is Kurama." Naruto replied.
"So you can communicate with it openly." Hiruzen said with concern in his voice.
"I can." Naruto confirmed.
"Naruto the Kyubi attacked Konoha and killed countless people, even the Yondaime and your parents." Hiruzen said not understanding how Naruto could trust the Kyubi.
"Yes, all while under the effects of the Sharingan. On the Night of my birth a man with the Sharingan entered the room where my mother was giving birth and forcefully extracted Kurama from the seal on my mother and placed him under a genjutsu forcing him to attack Konoha." Naruto explained.
"I see." Hiruzen said calmly. "Naruto I can't tell you not to use the Kyubi's chakra as it was always the Yondaime's will for you to use it to protect Konoha. But you should be careful of what it tells you."
"It was Kurama that told me about the night of attack, helped me learn the way of the shinobi despite what the academy tried to do to me before you put me with Iruka-sensei, he even helped me properly train in taijutsu when Mizuki tried to sabotage my taijutsu. So I will continue to work with Kurama to protect this village even if it costs me my life." Naruto ranted.
"Hokage-sama it's clear to me that Naruto has what it takes to be a ninja and he clearly wants to protect Konoha, I see no reason not to let him remain a civilian." Neko spoke up.
"Well you did see how he fought against Mizuki and we now know it was Mizuki who tricked Naruto to steal the scroll in the first place, so be it. Naruto as Hokage I hereby grant you the rank of genin report to the academy in one week for team placements and orientation." Hiruzen said firmly.
"Thanks Jiji you won't regret this." Naruto said getting up ready to walk out of the office.

Naruto was walking the streets of Konoha he just left the Hokage Tower to get his official ninja registration picture taken and was now on his way to the Academy for team placements he was curious as to who would be on his team, honestly he just prayed to get a team that would work with him. Naruto didn't have many friends in the academy, hell the only people who spoke to him graduated last year after his second failure.
In his current class the only people who spoke to him were Nara Shikamaru, Akimichi Choji, and Uchiha Sasuke. Everyone wondered how a failure like Naruto could befriend the last Uchiha but no one could deny their bond. Naruto hoped he could get on a team with any of his friends but he doubted it he wasn't that lucky and the council would never subjugate Sasuke by putting him on a tema there would bring Sasuke down.
Naruto arrived at the academy and walked through the doors and made his way to classroom 101 the room of Class 1-A and walked through the door. As he entered he saw Yamanaka Ino and Haruno Sakura in the aisle next to an open seat by Sasuke. The two were arguing about who would sit next to Sasuke as usual.
Naruto walked down the aisle and sat next to Shikamaru and Choji then watched as Inuzuka Kiba walked in and sat next to Sasuke completely blowing off Sakura and Ino. Now Kiba wasn't friends with Sasuke but the two did share a small rivalry., though not as big as Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry. Before anything could be said or done Iruka walked into the room and told everyone to find a seat so he could get things started.
"I am proud of all of you for making it this far. You all stand on the precipice of becoming shinobi of the Leaf. As you journey forward, never forget what makes you a shinobi of Konoha. Now please pay attention while I call your names and Team Number. Team One will be…" Iruka began.
Naruto was listening to the different teams waiting to hear his name and team number.
"Team Seven will be Uchiha Sasuke, Aburame Shino, and Hyuga Hinata. Team Eight will be Yamanaka Ino, Haruno Sakura, and Uzumaki Naruto." Iruka said before Sakura interrupted him.
"But Iruka-sensei, why am I stuck with Naruto? He has the worst scores in the academy, not to mention you placed me Ino-pig." Sakura ranted.
"Sakura these teams were put together after careful deliberation on each students skills and abilities. Now please no more interruptions." Iruka said.
Sakura sulked in her seat, still wondering why she wasn't placed with Sasuke. I mean come on she was his soulmate.
"Lastly, Team Ten will be Inuzuka Kiba, Nara Shikamaru, and Akimichi Choji." Iruka called the last team. "Now you are all dismissed until One o'clock be back here by then to meet your Jonin Squad Leaders.
Naruto rose from his seat and left the academy all together he didn't bother sticking around he knew when to be back so he didn't need to stay where he wasn't welcomed.
