Arash Kamangir, a hero from ancient Persia who created the border between Persia and Turan after firing an arrow from the top of Mount Damavand. His name has become synonymous with the word "archer." Even in modern times, he is loved by the people of West Asia. Now, he has been summoned as a servant, instructed by his master to bring him Saber.
Naru and Saber arrived at the address Arash gave on his arrow. It was an apartment building near the woods where Naru lived. True to his word, Arash awaited them, adjusting his bow.
Arash: "Hmm? Ah! Glad you could make it! My master is going to be happy when he sees you!"
Saber: "Enough talk, Archer. Who is your master, and why does he want to see me?"
Arash: "Why don't you ask him yourself? Alright, master! They're here!"
?: "Thank you, Archer. I appreciate it."
Saber froze for a split second after hearing the voice of Arash's master.
Naru: "Saber? Are you okay?"
Saber: "That voice!"
The sound of footsteps could be heard as the master of Arash made his way down the stairs from the top-floor apartments.
?: "It's been a long time, hasn't it?"
Saber: "It couldn't be!"
Saber began to slowly walk forward. By the time she stopped, the mysterious figure had already gotten to the bottom of the stairs and was now standing in front of her. Now that he could see him clearly, Naru now had a full view of his appearance.
He was in his early twenties. He had black, military-style pants with a matching black shirt with a black trenchcoat worn over it. Around his neck, he wore a red scarf which trailed behind him. The most striking features, however, were his red hair and brown eyes that shined with optimism.
The two continued to stare at each other, staring into each other's eyes until Saber finally spoke up.
Saber: "I am back, Shirou."
Shirou: "Yes, welcome back, Saber."
The two embraced each other in a long, drawn-out kiss filled with passion and love. Arash watched the scene with tears of joy in his eyes while Naru looked on in shock and confusion.
Shirou: "I thought I'd never see you again!"
Saber: "As did I, but it appears as if fate has once again brought us together. You have grown so much since I last saw you!"
Shirou: "And you're just as beautiful since the day I lost you."
Saber: "S-Shirou, you're embarrassing me!"
Naru: "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!"
Saber: "Hmm? Oh right! Naru, I would like you to meet my former master, Shirou Emiya."
Flashback:
Shirou lay in his shed battered and bruised. Above him stood a man in blue tights holding a red spear.
Blue Lancer: "Give it up kid, I have you cornered."
Shirou: "Hrgn! Dammit!"
Shirou swung his pipe at Lancer, only for it to shatter.
Lancer: "Checkmate! You gave me quite the surprise kid! Maybe you were meant to be the seventh!"
Shirou: "Seventh? Seventh what?"
Lancer didn't say anything. Instead, he just stood there smirking while his spear was pointed at his heart.
Shirou: "You got to be kidding. I was given a second chance at life. There's no way I'm going to die a pointless death like this! I won't let you kill me!"
Suddenly, the room began to glow as a summoning circle on the ground was activated. An armored figure soon appeared within the circle and charged at Lancer.
Lancer: "The seventh servant!"
Lancer was soon knocked away while Shirou looked up at the knight who appeared before his eyes.
Saber: Servant, Saber. I have come in response to your summons. I ask of you, are you my master?"
End of Flashback
Everyone was now back at Naru's apartment. Naru was sitting on one couch with Brook next to him, Shirou was sitting on another couch with Arash standing behind him, and Saber sat on a recliner. All three masters and their servants were in the room except for Bigfoot, who was way too big to fit in the door, so had to stay on the roof.
Naru: "So, let me get this straight, you say this 'Holy Grail War' thing happened before?"
Shirou: "Yep."
Naru: "Five times?"
Shirou: "Yep."
Naru: "And you won the previous one?"
Shirou: "Pretty much."
Naru: "With Saber as your servant?"
Shirou: "Yep."
Naru: "And your lover apparently?"
Shirou: "Well…yeah."
Naru: "That is the single craziest thing I ever heard, and that's saying a lot because Brook is in the same room with us!"
Brook: "God is a mushroom!"
Naru: "Actually, scratch that! Brook is a thousand times weirder!"
Shirou: "I-I see. Well, it sounds like the two of you have been through a lot as well!"
Brook: "No kidding! I almost got raped, and the next thing I knew, I summoned Bigfoot! Imagine saying that out of context. People would think I'd be talking nonsense!"
Naru: "You already talk nonsense 24/7. I doubt removing context would change anyone's opinion of you."
Shirou: "A-Anyways I'm glad Saber has found herself such a capable master!"
Naru: "U-Um, thanks? Aren't you jealous over the fact that I summoned your ex-girlfriend or whatever?"
Shirou: "A little bit, but I don't mind! If Saber responds to the summons of someone like you, then you must be a good person, and anyone who Saber trusts earns my trust as well!"
Naru: "I-I see. This guy is such a dork! I hate him already! Anyways, since you're Saber's former master, does that mean you know what Saber's true name is?"
Shirou: "Yes, but why are you asking?"
Naru: "I think it's unfair that I know the identities of all the servants in this room except for my own!"
Bigfoot: "I'm not in the room, I'm on the roof!"
Naru: "Whatever!"
Saber: "Naru, what did I tell you about the dangers involving revealing true names?"
Naru: "It exposes weaknesses and all that stuff, I know, but come on! This is Sekoyoma! It's completely cut off from the rest of the world! Do you think anyone in this city has taken a history class? You have to be really, really famous for people to know who you are. I mean, it's not like you're King Arthur or something, right?
Saber: "..."
Shirou: "..."
Arash: "..."
Brook: "..." (has no idea what's going on but is still joining in the silence)
Bigfoot: "..."
Naru: "Hold on. Why is everyone so quiet all of a sudden? Did I say something weird?"
Naru then thought about what he just said before turning to Saber in shock.
Naru: "Wait! Are you….?"
Saber "...it's…actually Artoria."
Naru: "Oh…okay…..WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?"
Artoria: "Yes Naru. My true name is Artoria Pendragon, or King Arthur as I'm more famously known."
Naru: "But…you're a girl!"
Artoria: "I disguised myself as a man and ruled as king of Britain for ten years."
Naru: "You're a girl!"
Artoria: "I could not save anyone as a maiden, so I had to-"
Naru: "YOU'RE A GIRL!"
Artoria: "ALRIGHT! I GET IT! YOU'RE SURPRISSED BY MY GENDER! YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!"
Everyone was quiet after that. To break up the tension, Shirou decided to speak up.
Shirou: "W-Well, I'm glad you're back Saber! I'm glad I get to see your face agai-"
Shirou suddenly paused as if he had remembered something important.
Shirou: "Saber…how did you get summoned?"
Artoria: "What do you mean Shirou? I got summoned the way any other servant wo-"
Artoria suddenly froze as she finally understood what Shirou was asking.
Artoria: "I-I don't know! I-It shouldn't be possible…but it still happened!"
Naru: "Wait, what's going on?"
Brook: "Yeah! What's got everybody spooked?"
Saber: "I…..shouldn't be here."
Naru: "Huh?"
Shirou: "Let me explain. When I summoned Saber, she was different from other servants. Unlike other servants, Saber was technically still alive."
Naru: "What do you mean, alive?"
Shirou: "Saber, rather than being dead like most servants, was contracted with the Counter Force as a counter guardian and was quantum locked in the battle of Camlann, unable to leave until she obtained the Holy Grail."
Naru: "What does this have to do with anything?"
Shirou: "I'm getting there. Anyways, at the end of the fifth Holy Grail War, Saber destroyed the Holy Grail, which severed her contract with the counter force and allowed her soul to pass on to Avalon."
Naru: "...sooooo?"
Shirou: "So if Saber's soul is in Avalon, how did you summon her?"
Naru: "I don't know. Luck I guess?"
Artoria: "I doubt that. Even if my soul wasn't in Avalon, summoning me without a catalyst is near impossible."
Naru: "Catalyst?"
Artoria: "Something connected to a heroic spirit when they were still alive. It is often required when one wants to summon a specific Heroic Spirit."
Naru: "Well, I've got nothing like that. I don't own anything connected to King Arthur-"
Naru paused. Several details suddenly connected into place as he finally figured it out.
Naru: "Shirou, did you have anything stolen recently?"
Shirou: "Why yes! I got my duffel bag full of supplies stolen two days ago!"
Naru: "Alright. Saber, I have something to ask you as well."
Naru ran back to the basement and came back holding the lion plushie he got from Rei.
Naru: "Is this yours?"
Saber quickly grabbed the lion plushie and hid it behind her back.
Saber: "Is what mine?"
Naru: "Oh my god…I SUMMONED KING ARTHUR WITH A FUCKING PLUSHIE!"
Brook: "I summoned Assassin using fake Bigfoot fur I had in my pocket!"
Naru: "That doesn't make it better!"
Shirou: "Well, this is…awkward. Ahem! Now that we've met each other and learned our servant's names, let's discuss our plan for the Holy Grail War."
Naru: "Yeah…about that. I hate to burst your bubble, but…hold on."
Naru got up and looked out the window.
Shirou: "Is something wrong?"
Naru: "Sorry, I just needed to make sure that didn't get interrupted when I say this. I QUIT!"
Shirou: "Eh?"
Artoria: "What? You want to quit? Why didn't you say anything sooner?"
Naru: "Because I got interrupted…twice. First by the hairy ape on the roof…"
Bigfoot: "I take offense to that."
Naru: "And second by the kamikaze dickwad standing over there!"
Arash blushed and turned away whistling.
Shirou: "You can't quit!"
Naru: "And why not?"
Shirou: "If you quit, someone much worse might get the grail, and that's a risk I don't want to take."
Naru: "Then YOU deal with it! You're all about being a 'hero of justice' right? Well, be a 'hero of justice' and deal with it yourself!"
Shirou: "Wha-!"
Naru: "Sorry, I lost my temper there. It's just that my mother was killed recently, and I'm trying to find her killer. That, combined with the stress of dealing with rival gangs every day, I don't want to deal with the Grail War on top of that."
Shirou: "I'm sorry as well Naru. I didn't know what kind of situation you were dealing with."
Naru: "Apology accepted. Now, do you know anything about quitting the Holy Grail War?"
Shirou: "Not really, but I do know that the Holy Church serves as a mediator for the war, so maybe they will be able to help."
Naru: "Alright, I'll go to the local church tomorrow and see what they can do. In the meantime, I need to get some sleep. It's way past my bedtime."
Naru got up and went to his room. Artoria meanwhile, stared at the ground looking upset.
Shirou: "What's wrong Saber? You haven't said anything throughout that entire ordeal."
Artoria: "It's nothing serious. It's just, that I'm worried we won't see each other again after this. What if I get de-summoned? Will we ever see each other again?"
Shirou: "Don't be like that. Naru isn't cruel enough to do that. He will probably give you to a different master, that's all."
Artoria: "I hope you're right, Shirou."
