The young woman paused as the see-through screens flashed before her eyes. It took her a moment to properly process the good news, too. But once she did, intense relief washed over her, as well as a bit of self-satisfaction, too.
Looks like my gamble paid off… Though, I can't help but notice that the subquest to save Ace hasn't been completed. Does that mean he's still in danger? I suppose there's still a long way to go until Marineford, so he probably won't be considered "safe" until the original deadline has passed…
Well, she'd take what she could get, really.
Speaking of which, she now had a skill to pick!
I haven't done that yet, she mused, looking over her three options carefully. I've always been able to pick feats, but my current skills all stem from my race – saved for the harmonica, which is entirely to blame on the randomizer.
There were no explanations given to better understand her options, though they did seem pretty self-explanatory. And of course, there was no denying which would be the most useful (and the most fun to take advantage of), so she promptly selected "Lockpicking".

Brynlee's last memory of the Red Line had been… well, flying down from it. She'd been closer to Loguetown at the time, and she'd flown over the Calm Belt, so she'd never caught a glimpse of Reverse Mountain. So, as the Going Merry steadily approached, she couldn't help but feel excited. The range of mountains was growing bigger with each passing second, a crimson wound over the horizon, and she was briefly tempted to feel the rush of flying all the way over it.
No, Nami will have my head if I ditch them now. Plus, going up the normal way is bound to be fun, too! Like a rollercoaster!
"BRYNLEE!"
Ah, about time Nami figured it out.
With a bounce in her step and her brand new earrings dangling from her right ear, Brynlee found her way to the galley, where Nami was panicking over the map. The moment Brynlee stepped foot inside, her friend was on her, shaking her shoulders.
"Bryn! Please tell me I'm reading the map wrong!"
Brynlee smiled. "You're not. You're too good for that."
"Now's not the time for praises! You mean to tell me that we're supposed to go up a fricking mountain in order to get to the Grand Line!?"
"Well, yeah. Arlong told us, and Miss Belo too—"
"I thought they were messing with us!"
Brynlee simply shrugged, patting Nami's head in support. "You should really get used to this kind of craziness, Nami – insanity is the golden rule on the other side." Nami slumped even more, and Brynlee's grin widened. "But no need to worry! If anyone can get us up that canal safely, it's you! You are the best navigator in the East Blue, after all."
"Hmph!" There was no missing the slight reddening of Nami's ears as she promptly straightened up. "Of course I can! I will! It's my job after all!"
"And you're great at it. I'll let you do your calculations, then – and I'll keep our favorite morons busy, so they won't bother you."
At that, Nami's shoulders sagged a bit in relief. It was obvious that Brynlee's nonchalance was doing a good job of calming her down. How could she possibly worry her best friend who coincidentally happened to be someone who could see the future told her not to?
"Plus, if we crash there, we'll all be dead before we even know it."
"Bryn!"
Brynlee simply laughed as she left the galley, not even flinching when Nami's sandal deftly collided with the back of her head.
