Kaiju Fighters Ch. 21
Kimiko has just finished getting ready for the luau. She is wearing a yellow dress with white flowers that was given to her by Lily. As she walks out of the room she runs into the Inn owner.
"Kimiko, you look wonderful in that dress."
"Thanks." Kimiko bows. "I'll return it to you in the morning before leaving."
"Keep it. You look better in it than I ever did."
"Really?" she looks at herself in a mirror before turning back to Lily. "So, shall we go?"
"Let's," and they were heading out. Before they got to the door that would lead to the pool, Kong's voice can be heard.
"We'll see who the true king is!"
Gojira's voice soon follows, "We're going to settle this once and for all."
Kimiko sighs, "Oh, not this again?" she and Lily burst through the doors.
"Kong, what did I tell you about…" Lily starts saying. "…arm wrestling?" this confused as the two kaiju are doing just that. Kong and Gojira are sitting at a table across from each other with their arms locked to see which one will give out first. Lily and Kimiko just shrug and walk over to the table, curious about who would win.
Manda walks up to the redheaded human, "Hey, Allie! About the other day. Me and Goro, we're just friends."
"Goro already explained." she tells her. "The thing is I was afraid of losing another boyfriend."
"You don't have to explain yourself. Goro told me what happened." Manda then leaned closer to her. "I bet twenty dollars that Gojira wins."
"Hah! There's no way he can beat Kong. You got yourself a deal," they turn to Kong and Gojira and it did not seem like either of them were about to budge.
Kimiko suddenly screams, "There's a spider!" as points to the side of the pool.
Gojira forgot all about the competition. He lets go of Kong's hand, let it slam into the table, threw his other hand out to blast at the spider that Kimiko is pointing at.
He growls, "I really hate spiders," as everyone stares at him.
Rodan comments, "Talk about over kill," while looking at a scorch mark right were there used to be a tiny spider.
Kong throws his arms in the air, "Ha! I win!" with half the guests cheering while the rest groan.
Allie tells the sea dragon, "Pay up!" And Manda hands over the money.
Gojira shouts. "There's no way that counted!"
"Want a rematch?" Kong taunts.
"You're on!"
Lily gets between them. "You may want to postpone that. It's time to begin the feast."
Everyone gathers around a large table with all sorts of food from pineapples to a roasted pig. Not far from them there is a stage with people wearing skirts made from grass dancing to some music. When they finish everyone claps. As the dancers stepped off the stage, Lily walked up with a microphone.
"I hope you guys enjoyed the hula dance?" she tells the audience. "Our next performance is going to be done by our very own Goro," when she stepped off the stage Goro stepped up.
Goro was still wearing his shorts, but he is no longer wearing his shirt or shoes. Instead, he has some sort of grass around his legs below the knees, around his wrists, and a grass crown on his head. He carries a torch that is lit at both ends.
As Goro takes a bow one can see he is sweating not from the heat of the flames but from being nervous. In truth this would be the first time he performed in front of people. The only ones who had seen him do this are Allie, Lily, and Kong. But to have an audience has him frightened. He keeps on thinking of a human saying. 'Butterflies in his stomach.'
When Goro stands back up, he holds the torch up and starts twirling it around and tossing it. After a while he decides it is time for the finale. Goro throws the torch up as high as he can, reaches for a bottle that was on the stage, took a drink from it, jumps, grabs the torch, and starts spinning. The audience is astonished as he was creating a spiraling inferno.
After Goro lands back on his feet, he takes another bow. He did not bother raising out of fear of the audience's reaction could be. Then, he hears cheering and clapping. Pride fell upon him when he rises up to see that everyone enjoyed the show.
People in the audience suddenly gasped as he felt unusually warm. Goro came to the realization too late after he started smelling smoke. The trick ended up catching his shorts on fire. He starts turning around trying to put the flames out. He then runs towards the pool with the torch still in hand. People started laughing when he got out and Goro had a feeling it has something to do with the breeze he can feel from behind. Allie walks up and hands him a towel. Goro wrapped it around his waist and went inside with his face red.
After a while everyone just started mingling. Gojira is just leaning up against a pole, arms crossed, looking at the people around him. Some are guests and others are employees. He gets more looks from the guests than the employees. Must be due to the employees being used to strange things with Kong and Goro around. heguesses. Gojira then spots Lilly over at the punch bowel.
Lily was getting a drink when she was startled.
"Lily!" Gojira is right behind her.
"Oh! Gojira," she scolds. "Don't you know you're not supposed to sneak up on a girl."
"Sorry," Gojira apologizes. "It's just that the other day I noticed you were walking off into the woods all by yourself."
"Yeah, I do that every day. It's more of a tradition for me."
"Kong follows you?"
Lily smiles, "I know."
The gojirasaur raises a brow. "And this doesn't bother you?"
"Actually, I think it's sweet," she looked down to try and hide the fact that her face was starting to blush. "He's just making sure that I'm safe. Kong may act like a big brute at times. But that doesn't stop him from being soft when he wants to. Kinda like you."
Gojira just stares at her for a moment before leaving. After he was gone Lily looks around at everyone attending the luau, hoping that they are all having a good time. She then notices Kong walking up to her.
"Um Lily, I just…" he starts rubbing the back of his head. "I just wanted to apologies for yesterday. I'm sorry if I was too harsh when I told you to stay."
"Kong, don't worry," she reassures him. "You were just looking out for me, and I admire that. You are not only a great employee but a wonderful friend," It was Kong's turn to blush and Lily could not help but giggle at the sight. Lily then gestures for the former ape to lower himself down a little as she stands on her toes to kiss the ape on the cheek. The action served to redden his face even further.
Rodan approaches the hula dancers near the pool, "Hey, ladies! Care to dance with a hero?" the pteranodon winks at them. The women just wearily glance at each other, unsure what to say. Out of nowhere, Rodan is splashed by water and is suddenly dragged into the pool. As soon as he breaches the water's surface, he registers the women laughing at him. Manda's voice then reaches his ears from across the pool.
"Do yourself a favor, Birdbrain and stop trying so hard!" the water dragon shouts. "It's less painful to watch."
Later, Kimiko makes her way through the crowd to where her three friends are currently sitting.
"Hey, everyone," she sits next to Gojira. "I got a call from Mosura. It turns out that we're not going home yet."
Rodan perks up at this, "Then where are we going?"
"Well, Rodan, you and Manda are to meet Anguirus in Las Vegas."
Gojira looks at her, "What about us?"
"Mosura got a request that someone wants to meet you in New York. And I'm tagging along."
"Who would want to meet me?" Gojira hums as he could not help to feel curious.
"Don't know," she shrugs. "but our tickets were already switched out. So, we don't have much of a choice."
.oOo.
The next day at the airport, Gojira, Manda, Rodan, and Kimiko met Lily, Kong who's carrying some necklaces made of flowers, and Allie.
"We wanted to see you off," Lily told them. "Aloha!"
"Well then, sayonara!" Kimiko says in return.
"As a gift of our gratitude we would like to present each of you with a lei," Lily walks up to Kong, one by one took a necklace made of flowers, and places them around each of their necks.
"Hey, where's Goro?" Rodan points out.
Kong chuckles, "After the incident last night, he decided to hide out until everyone forgets."
Manda was not paying much attention to anything other than the fact that she is about to get back on the plane.
"Manda!" Allie gets her attention. "I heard about your air sickness," Manda looks away in shame when she said that. "I had the same problem," Allie tells her as she pulls out a canteen. "If you drink this before you get on the plane then I can guarantee that you won't feel sick."
"Thank you," Manda says as she drinks whatever was in that canteen. When she finished she started to feel a bit drowsy yawning as she and Rodan made their way to the plane
Kimiko asks, "What was in that?"
With a sly grin, Allie whispers, "Just a little remedy that will put her to sleep for the entire flight."
The agent smiles before turning back to Kong. "Are you sure about not joining us? You can stay here and set up an American branch of the Kaiju Fighters."
The ape shakes his head. "My life has become so peaceful here. Despite a couple of setbacks. I never got too many days like that back home. Being a Fighter sounds like it be asking for trouble, and I rather keep this place as peaceful as possible."
Kimiko nods, understanding what he means.
Gojira suggests, "We should go before we miss our flight," as he turns around and Kimiko follows.
"Hey, Fossil!" Kong shouts. "Next time we will see who the true king is. Until then hang on to my title for me."
"We will, Banana Breath." Gojira tells him in retaliation. "And you'll see that I'm the only one who can where the crown."
"In your dreams!"
"I guess that's the only place you can see it."
A voice on the intercom then rings, "Last call for New York City."
"Come one Goji," Kimiko pulls him away. "Let's go."
On the plane Gojira could only ponder who would be waiting for him in New York. And what his next adventure would hold for him.
