It had been a few days since the incident and Akari was laying in her room, sulking in her futon bed with the covers pulled over her. She sighed holding her mother's sword close to her.
"What am I going to do, mom? I wish you were here. You always had an answer." She whispered. Akari felt her sword resonate, shaking a little in her arms, trying to tell her something.
"Tell the truth." Akari heard the sword's voice call out to her as it spoke. Her eyes widened a little before dropping a little.
"But I could die if he knew the truth."Then Akari heard the doors were roughly slammed open and heavy footsteps approaching towards her.
"Get up." she heard Kenpachi's gruff voice as he stood in front of her.
"Go away." Akari felt the blankets were pulled off of her. She yelped in surprise, and she was suddenly grabbed by the hem of her shikakusho as she was pulled up. Kenpachi's face was close to hers as he stared down at her with a dangerous look in his eye, scowling a little angry.
"I don't need no sass from you. You've been neglecting your training for days now! What the hell is wrong with you!?"
"You're starting to piss me off." Akari growled at him.
"What are you going to do about it then!" Kenpachi shouted at her.
"Fine! If you want a fight so badly, you got one!" Akari shouted back at him. Kenpachi smirked flashing a sadistic grin. Akari gulped a little, realizing that there was no choice backing out of it now.
"That's what I've been waiting for-" He spoke before Akari cut him off.
"But not here. I know a place we can go where there will be no interference." Akari told him.
"Captain Zaraki, I need to talk to you-!" Then Yumichika suddenly walked in but stopped when he saw the two in a very compromising position. He blinked, staring at them. Akari staring back at him before glancing back to Kenpachi, blushing a little. Kenpachi released her and she stood up.
"Uh-am I interrupting something?"
"Meet me at the squad entrance and I'll take you there." Akari told Kenpachi and she walked out, leaving the two in her room. Yumichika watched her as she left before turning back to his captain, still confused.
"Captain, what was that all about?" Yumichika asked.
"I'm going out for a bit. Watch Yachiru." Kenpachi told him and he stepped out, following after Akari.
Akari took Kenpachi outside of the Seireitei, passing through the gates to the rukongai. She led them towards the woods and continued walking for a while. Akari heard Kenpachi's footsteps crunching behind her, feeling his spiritual pressure spiking every now and then. Once in a clearing, surrounded by many trees, she sensed that they were far away so no one could get caught the crossfire for their fight. Akari turned back to Kenpachi seeing him holding his sword behind his neck, waiting.
"Before we start, is there any rules you'd like to set?" Akari asked him.
"No kido for starters. I want this to be a fair fight." He replied. Akari stared at him. This again?
"What is up with you and no kido? Can you not do it or something?" Akari questioned.
"Enough talking. Are we going to do this or not?" Kenpachi spoke, impatiently.
"Is bankai allowed?" Akari asked him.
"I want to fight you at your full power." Kenpachi told her. Akari nodded.
"Okay, then take off your eye patch." Akari told him and summoned her sword, transforming it and herself. Kenpachi pulled off his eye patch, tossing it aside and brought his sword to his side, grinning madly. Akari gripped her sword as she felt his spiritual pressure spike immediately higher. Her eyes widen a little as she saw a yellow skull hovering behind Kenpachi, the wind picking more now. Akari began to sweat a little, getting nervous but also growing into anticipation.
Then Akari immediately charged at Kenpachi at fast speed and brought her sword down on him. Kenpachi raised his own, blocking hers. Akari quickly flash stepped darting out of the way as he swung down on top of her. She leaped into the air, spinning wildly coming straight down and managed to slash her sword into Kenpachi's left shoulder, leaving a deep cut. She quickly leaped back, gaining some distance. Then she froze when she heard Kenpachi laugh.
"This is exactly what I've been waiting for! Finally, someone to match my strength!" He charged at Akari at fast speed, wildly swinging his sword down on top of hers. Akari barely managed to deflect the strikes in time and some managed to slice her. A cut across her cheek, her right sleeve of her uniform, her side, and her upper left calf. Akari panted, feeling the adrenaline rush through her veins. She smirked and she quickly flash stepped and jumped off a trunk of a tree when Kenpachi swung down at her again. The tree was sliced in half and completely destroyed, followed by several more when he unleashed a shockwave. Kenpachi turned around and Akari quickly jumped off another tree then bounced off the trunk and launched herself forward, landing another cut across Kenpachi's chest. She swung her sword down again. Kenpachi moved out of the way and Akari's sword slammed into the ground, ripping the ground in half.
Back at Squad 11, Yumichika and Ikkaku were sitting together, while Yachiru was drawing in the sand.
"I wonder why the captain left so suddenly." Ikkaku wondered.
"And so did Akari..." Yumichika murmured, finding it strange as well. He was concerned, wondering what was going on.
"Did you hear any of them say anything?" Ikkaku asked.
"Just to meet her by the squad entrance." Yumichika shrugged.
"Kenny and Tomato-head are having fun together." Yachiru smiled, still drawing the sand. Ikkaku and Yumichika both turned to her. Yumichika's eyes widened, and he gasped in worry, realizing what lieutenant meant, while Ikkaku frowned in concern as well.
Then Ikkaku and Yumichika felt two enormous spiritual pressure being released, coming from the woods outside.
"We need to go, now!" Yumichika quickly flashed stepped, heading towards the spiritual pressures. Ikkaku quickly grabbed Yachiru, following behind Yumichika.
"Why didn't you say something sooner!?" Ikkaku shouted at Yachiru.
Akari and Kenpachi landed blow after blow onto one another, deflecting each attack with their swords. Kenpachi heard Akari laugh, seeing the excitement in her eyes. He was living in the thrill of the moment as well as the two continued to clash against each other. Kenpachi also noticed that she was wearing down a little, getting weaker.
Akari panted and she quickly pulled her sword swinging it sideways. Kenpachi's eyes widen as a large vortex of flame erupted from the ground, encasing him inside of it. As Akari tried to catch her breath, her eyes widen when she heard a noise from the flames, and she saw Kenpachi slice through it with his spiritual pressure as if it were nothing. His clothes and skin were a little singed and he quickly charged at her at fast speed, roaring. Akari quickly tried to pull herself up, bringing her sword up to brace herself for his attack. Akari felt her hands sting Kenpachi knocked her sword was knocked out of her hands. Her sword flew a few feet away and buried itself in the ground, standing upright.
Kenpachi grabbed Akari by her throat and slammed her against the tree, pinning her against it. Akari groaned, feeling the bark dig into her back through her shihakusho. Then she heard a thunk, and she opened her eyes to see Kenpachi's sword dug deep into the tree just inches beside her head. She turned her head looking back at her captain standing in front of her, slightly panting. Akari narrowed her eyes silently staring at him and he stared back into hers.
Suddenly, Kenpachi released her throat. Akari blinked at him confused and the next thing she knew, Akari felt him roughly press his lips against hers as he kissed her. Akari's eyes widen in shock. What the hell?
She tried to push him back, but Kenpachi barely moved, kissing her more deeply now. He began to trail down her neck to her collar bone, biting and sucking on it and grazing his teeth across her skin. Akari panted feeling her body starting to grow hotter, melting. Then Akari felt the hems of her shihakusho loosen as Kenpachi roughly pulled them down to her shoulders.
"W-Wait!" Akari sputtered, quickly covering her chest, hiding her mark. Kenpachi grunted and he pried her arms apart and lifted her up, now both legs beside his waist, straddling him. Akari felt something poke underneath her through Kenpachi's uniform. She squeaked, blushing a little realizing what it was. He buried his face into her neck and slowly began to unloosen Akari's sash to her shihakusho.
"Wait a minute!"
"What is it woman?" Kenpachi sighed and pulled back. He wasn't going to push her into it if she didn't want to do it. Who would with someone barbaric like him. To his surprise, Akari's placed her hands on his shoulders, looking back into his eyes.
"If we're going to do this. There's something you really should know. Otherwise, I'll be living a lie." Akari told him. "I'm not normal."
"I can already tell that." Kenpachi scoffed. Akari bit her lip but continued.
"I'm a soul reaper...but also a hallow as well. I'm a shadow hallow." Kenpachi's eyes widened a little but stayed silent. Akari explained and continued to tell Kenpachi, what she told Ikkaku and Yumichika. Kenpachi said nothing but just stared at her, not paying attention. Akari noticed, thinking that he might be getting annoyed by her rambling and stopped. "Doesn't that bother you?"
"Listen I don't care who or what you are. I only care about strength, and you have it. But I do care if you mess with my squad. Does anyone else know about this?"
"There's Rangiku, Rukia, Renji, and Ikkaku and Yumichika. Yumichika's the only one who I've shared my power with."
"And how do you do that?" Kenpachi asked her. Akari smiled, laughing a little.
"Would you like to find out?" she teased.
"Enough games, woman-" Kenpachi spoke before Akari slammed her lips against his, pulling Kenpachi closer to her. Kenpachi felt a sudden rush of energy throughout his body. Akari felt Kenpachi's rough callused hands roaming her body. Akari pulled Kenpachi's shihakusho, stripping it off. The two tossed their uniforms to the ground. She wrapped her legs around Kenpachi's waist and the two continued. Their bodies intertwined with each other as their blood smeared the grass. The two panted, covered in sweat and dirt as they finished and Kenpachi rolled off from Akari laying on the ground beside her. Akari laid her hand on top of Kenpachi's bare chest.
"Good fight." she panted still in disbelief, laying in bliss. She blushed, her heart still beating so fast from their passionate activity. She never knew how gentle but how intense her captain was, not used to seeing this side of him.
"Damn right, it was."
The two laid there for a while in silence before Akari spoke.
"Do you want to continue this?"
Kenpachi turned his head towards her. "What do you mean?"
"Whatever this is. What would you call it? Fight for benefits? A one-time thing?" Akari asked him, worried for his answer, waiting. She didn't want to end it.
"Do you want to continue?" Kenpachi asked her.
"Yes." Akari replied, softly.
"Being with someone like me doesn't bother you?" Kenpachi asked her.
"No."
"Let's just see where this goes." Kenpachi grunted. Akari nodded.
"I'd like that. I'd like to get to know you a little better." She spoke.
Kenpachi sighed, silently thinking to himself. He wasn't used to this sort of thing. Fighting. The excitement of battle was the only thing he ever known. This was different.
"I've never had a name." He told her. Akari's eyes widened, looking at him.
"Growing up it was painful hearing everyone call out to each other by their names, besides me. So, I took the district I used to live in as my last name. Zaraki. Kenpachi, as the strongest fighter. A good fight was the only thing that would satisfy me, make feel truly alive. People, bugs, nothing mattered. Until I met her.
"Her?" Akari frowned.
"The woman I admire the most. Yachiru." Akari's eyes widened a little confused. There was another woman in Kenpachi's life? She couldn't help but feel a little jealousy. "Oh." Kenpachi noticed her expression.
"It's not like that. Not like what we have." He told her. "This is different."
"Yachiru? But that's the lieutenant's name, isn't it?"
"I named Yachiru after her when I found her as a baby. She just suddenly appeared out of the blue one day when I tried to talk to my sword." Kenpachi told her. "My sword wasn't really mine to begin with. I picked it off a dead soul reaper. I never knew its real name. So, in a sense it was like me. No name." Akari frowned.
Yachiru just suddenly appeared out of nowhere when Kenpachi talked to the sword? That's strange.
"We should be heading back." Kenpachi grunted and sat up, grabbing his shihakusho. Akari nodded.
"Yes, I'm so sore all over. You definitely didn't hold back. I can't wait to take a bath." She told him, putting on her uniform and retrieving her sword as well. She saw Kenpachi flash a wicked grin, laughing a little.
"Maybe we could take one together and have another round?" He suggested. Akari blushed, her face turning completely red. Before she could answer him, the two felt three spiritual pressures coming fast towards their location. Ikkaku, with Yachiru giggling on his back, and Yumichika flash stepped in front of them. Both relieved to see Akari still alive but also shocked and surprised to see Kenpachi completely cut up badly as well.
"I see you made it out alive." Ikkaku smirked.
"It was just a friendly sparring rematch." Akari reassured them.
"It was more than just a "friendly" match." Yumichika said a little concern.
"I'm alright, really." Akari smiled. "But I am completely exhausted. Can we go back now?"
"Kenny! Did you have fun!?" Yachiru smiled. "I haven't seen you this happy in a long time!"
"Sure, did kid." Kenpachi chuckled and he slapped Akari on her butt. Akari squeaked and jumped a little in surprise. She turned to him a little annoyed.
"Aw, isn't this sweet. But I'm afraid I'm here to claim back what is mine." Akari's eyes widened. Kenpachi frowned turning towards the voice. Ikkaku and Yumichika quickly glanced over as well, looking to where they were looking. A man stepped out from behind a tree, standing in front of them. He had a slender frame, short dark hair, wearing a dark grey robe, sword tied by his side. His glowing violet eyes drifted as he set his sights on everyone taking everyone in before stopping at Akari.
"You." Akari growled as soon as she saw him. Her eyes glowed a shimmer of purple as he stepped closer towards the group. The Shadow Hallow leader.
"Akari, you've been naughty girl, haven't you."
